Buckle your seatbelts, we're going for a Panera ride. Typically, I don't like writing sh***y reviews for restaurants because being the restaurant business is difficult business. But if your service sucks so badly that you deserve a long winded review from someone really going out of their way, I'll write that review. Typically our service sucks only moderately badly at this location(missing items, employees f***ing around while people are waiting for food - typical restaurant to-go behavior) but nothing worth writing a review over. Until today. We ordered for our office online. An order that totaled $80 dollars and some change, and we chose for the order to be ready for pickup at 12:05. We arrive at 11:50 and wait for our food. 12:05 rolls around and no order has come out. At 12:20, I decide to ask the very distracted, very talkative staff behind the counter about my order. They tell me they have it ready, and they bring it around the corner. Given that this location has literally always forgotten items, we checked the order. It was missing: 4 soups, 3 sandwiches, 3 chips, and an entire loaf of french bread[in the bag was 2 chips, one salad, and the bread they give you on the side]. Frustrated, but still as courteous as I could muster after now waiting 15 minutes past my original order time, I hand the order back over the counter, as well as the printed order from our payment confirmation and let them know that I'm missing more than half my food. They take it back over the counter and with 20 more minutes gone by... SUCCESS! The order was fixed. The reason for the confusion given was along these lines: 'Our printer only printed one page of the order, and then another girl who isn't here anymore wrote the rest down and left it somewhere so we couldn't fill the rest of the order'. I don't blame the girl who helped me (I don't remember your name) as she looked just as bothered by this whole thing as I was. But Panera needs to get their sh** together. Completely inexcusable to pass an eighth of an order off as an entire one. I will say that Panera later called us and offered us a $10 dollar gift card. It doesn't resolve the issue given that any other restaurant would've comped the entire order, but I'll take it, be grateful, and never visit this location again. read more

The customer service at this location is HORRIBLE!! I went in the evening when they were not busy and waited 20 minutes for a bowl of soup . There were 6-7 employees in the kitchen area and three of them were engaged in their own private conversations while I"m waiting for my simple order to be made. read more

I've been a customer here for awhile now. The last month or so, or around the time the auto kiosk showed up, the services has dropped markedly! It's as if they deliberately suck so that we are forced to use the kiosk. As if they WANTED to be replaced with the kiosk... The cashiers are slow to comprehend what you ordered and/or you have to repeat yourself multiple times for them to input the correct phone number to pull up your info! **UPDATE** I teach classes on marketing and for a while I referred my attendees to this post for a light-hearted story time. This experience was one of few perfect illustrations of how NOT to treat people when you own a business. Fast-forward a year and some change later, I absolutely LOVE this Panera. They got smarter, made some personnel changes and added ONE HELLUVA manager in Jill ( she's the bestest ). I honestly feel like the entire staff is my family. They don't know how their oatmeal is different from other Panera locations but I know their secret...it's made with a little extra love. Thanks Panera fam!! read more

There has been several times that I order online to pick up at the restaurant. The time frame is 10 minutes. I normally go on my lunch so I only have 30 minutes to spare. I make sure to place my order early and every time I end up waiting 20+ minutes for my food and then I have to rush to eat. The only reason I go back is for the food. read more

I didn't have a chance to eat here, so I'm not commenting on the food but rather the manager's behavior. We walked in about 20 minutes to closing. I noticed a few people sitting at tables and a woman behind the ordering area was taking care of a few things. The first thing I said, "Is it too late to order for dine in?" She said, "Not at all." She seemed very friendly and sweet. I've never been to Panera so I was gazing at the menu for a while. Enter the manager, stage left. "Are you guys planning to dine in because we're closing in 15 minutes." I didn't know if that was a question or a statement. I responded: "I just asked if it was too late to order..." interrupted with Ms. Manager: "You can order, I just wanted to let you know that in about 15 minutes, I'm going to ask you to leave." Decided to meet some people here for lunch. I got the Thai salad and substituted the chicken for avocado. The salad arrived and it filled the bowl only half way and there was literally only one tiny piece of avocado in the entire salad. I went back to the counter and asked for more. They complied, but in the end I only received 2 or 3 more tiny pieces of avocado. If I was lucky it was 15% of a whole avocado. Why is avocado even an option when they skimp so hardcore on it? Just to piss off their customers? Well they accomplished that. Now the person I was eating with got a half salad and half soup. After 2 or 3 bites she found a piece of hair in her salad. She told the workers and they replaced it, but still this is unacceptable. The whole layout of the place is awkward too. The seating is spread out into 2 separate sections with a small hallway in the middle where there are three booths that have little lighting and look right into a grimy hallway that goes toward the kitchen i guess. The food was overall mediocre and now I know why I haven't been to Panera in years and won't be returning anytime soon. read more

Was it being maintenanced properly? 1) First I noticed dirty unaccupied tables were waiting/needing to be cleaned. I didn't see anyone clearing and cleaning tables during my hour visit. They need to have someone out wiping tables down during cold/flu season. After purchasing some danish and coffee: 2) Some coffee had been brewed at 11:00 am yet the dark Roast was brewed at 10:00 (coffee never should sit an hour at those prices) Final thought: 3) The parking garage is not good. Not sure why so many people rave about this place... I live in Granite Bay and usually use the one on Douglas in Roseville, which I find to be a much higher quality product in terms of food, cleanliness, and service. I stopped in there for lunch. I like the parking, that's about it. There were tons of soccer moms in there with 3 or 4 kids each it seemed like, I ordered food to eat-in, brought my laptop & planned to get a little work done over lunch like I do in Roseville. Big mistake, no empty tables anywhere, though most were kids with crayons with a couple of moms having tea or coffee and not feeling like they should move on - even though it's the lunch rush on a week day. When I finally cowered over a tiny round table surrounded by at least 10 toddlers, feeling like I would have had more peace & quiet at the romper room in a McDonalds, I tried a sandwich & salad combo - some kind of roast beef thing and a fuji apple salad of some type. Sandwich, tasted ok, but was tiny compared to the Roseville one. Sandwich was maybe 3 inches long... 3 inch by 3 inch and rather thin. Salad was more of a side-salad size rather than a meal-size, but was fairly tasty, but not the best I've ever had to be sure. It was mostly iceberg lettuce it seems like. Wow.. $12.50 with the soda. If you're looking for lunch and not there for the play date... try Toby Keith's next door or Chicago Fire, Jack's Urban Eats, Thai Paradise, Mooney's, or any of the other "grown up places" in the area. I'll keep this short. I am a huge Panera Bread fan. My recent trip to this Panera Bread was unpleasant because of the actions of one of the staff. The Pros: My husband and I got two breakfast sandwiches, both of which were hot and tasty. The wait was short, and the booth we sat at was clean. The Cons: One big issue here - the way the "higher-up staff" (not sure of the person's title) was talking to another staff person. The "higher-up" person who was being disrespectful was a middle aged woman with brown hair and glasses. I don't know her name. One of the staff people, a young man, went to the soda machine by us to fill up a cup. We heard someone loudly exclaim from somewhere behind the prep counter, "What time is it?!" He said, "10:27". She said, "And what time do you start?!" He said, "10:30". She said, "Do you think you have time for that?!" She was loud enough that we stopped talking and looked at each other nervously. He quickly filled his cup (it looked like he got water) and hurried behind the counter. I could hear her continue to talk to him in a belittling way for a while after that. As we were leaving, I could hear her talking about the exchange to other staff. It was very uncomfortable. I hope the owner reads this. There was no reason for that woman to raise her voice or belittle anyone, period. read more

I am normally a fan of Panera and I consider myself a regular costumer but today is a different story. The cashier in the front,her name is BAYLEE is such as ASS. This review does not reflect the store but Baylee has no thing called customer service. I approached the front to tell her that the mango smoothie which we order all the time tasted like it's watered down. But instead of apologizing she simply told me to tell the back line. And she even said that it's hard to believe because they measure everything down. Soooo bad, I don't normally complain but now I am. A simple sorry would have made the difference. read more

I eat at this location at least 3x a week and have no complaints at all about its staff or establishment. The only issues I have is that some of these customers that come in seem so stuck up and pampered, i mean i guess thats Folsom..lol Some of these adults seem to cry pretty bad when things don't go their way when a staff member informs them that they have run out of something that they ordered. I recently went to Panera Bread in Folsom for a late lunch the month of May with two girlfriends. The food was terrible ..... I ordered a half chicken salad - as soon as I looked at it, I knew it was not fresh and I felt like I couldn't eat it. I took a couple of bites and chose not to eat it. That day, I didn't want to deal with it as I was tired and just figured I will never come back here. The Greek salad dressing I chose (they don't have Ranch dressing btw - one of the most common salad dressings - I would imagine it's due to the fact that it doesn't have a load of vinegar so that storage would come into play) - the Greek dressing was literally a "chunk" of dressing it had so much thickener in it. Lo and behold, one of the three of us, also ordered a salad. She ate her salad. However, she became very very ill and had to even use the bathroom. Terrible stomach pains! She was sick for days and nearly visited the hospital E.R. On that day, the "manager" offered to refund her money. I am willing to be that nothing will be done about food storage and food safety. (The person preparing the salads was chatting away while doing so as I watched her.) The food does not look fresh at all and I would be willing to bet that they keep the food far far too long and still serve it. Also, who knows their practices with meat/chicken. The other lady in our party ordered a grilled cheese sandwich. It was placed on a plate all by itself. It looked unappetizing. She only took a few bites. I have been a patron of Panera Bread for years - even in other states where I've lived. Always a fresh food experience and delicious food. Now, here in the Folsom restaurant, I've visited many times, I put it altogether and realize the soups are watery and now this horrible experience. I believe the corporate facility needs more training for restaurant workers and above all management to oversee all of these issues. (Might I add that upon entering on this day, I got little attention from even the person taking my order. When I asked for Ranch Dressing, for instance, he said "we don't have Ranch dressing." End. At this point, a happy employee would say "here is what we do have." But, I had to ask. He could care less about satisfying customers. If you peruse the Yelp reviews alone, you will see other complaints. But not one response to any of them. I suggest that Panera Bread gets on the stick and implements more training. I, for one, and my girlfriends from that day will not go back to Panera Bread in Folsom. Right around the corner is Red Robin - delicious FRESH salads, soups, hamburgers and other fare. I'm a student and this is my go-to for lunch and studying. My study partner and I usually end up eating breakfast and lunch here 2-3 times a week. My study partner and I would discuss how poor the customer service was on a daily basis. There used to be a rude blonde girl at the register in the mornings. She always sighed and acted like we were inconveniencing her when ordering. Over studying there for 2 years we never once saw her smile. There also used to be a large, rude woman that I believe was the manager. She was awful to her staff, and extremely loud. It was almost as if she wanted all the customers hear her scold an employee. We always knew which employee was late, who dropped something, and who called in. She was ridiculously loud! I was there previously during the end of the spring semester in May. Fast forward to my visit yesterday and today: There seems to be new management. There are quite a few new faces, and some no longer there. We are greeted with a smile, a "thank you", and a "have a nice day." It is a HUGE difference! They are quick to replace toilet paper, fix the bathroom door, and get orders out. My study buddy ordered noodles for lunch and they were out. The manager came out, apologized, and paid for her meal! It is quite a turn around, and we really enjoy studying here now. They did forget my pastry in a pick up meal last week. They offered to give me a free pastry, but I didn't realize until later it was simply the one they forgot to add to my order. So much for a "free" pastry right? Either way, a much better place to eat now. read more

If I could have a Panera Bread closer to where I lived, I would eat there every single day, without question. Their Asiago bagels with vegetable cream, or chive and onion, cheese are absolutely divine. They are the perfect size and blend of flavors. As far as the lunch menu - It is PHENOMENAL. If you think you have had a good sandwich, you haven't really until you've tried their Mediterranean veggie sandwich! They have a variety of sandwiches, soups, and salads and there is nothing on the menu you could go wrong with. The only thing I wish they would improve on is their coffee. I started going to Panera recently, when I started going back to school. The food here is fantastic. Although the food is good, it is also expensive. I splurge with a before class meal from here once in a while. Most of the time I will come in and buy a cup of coffee and then bust out my laptop and start studying. Also, they offer free Wifi...[free Wifi] which is key for me when ever I am studying away from home. I have always experienced good service. It could be better, but it is only good. A few times that I have been in there, the front registers seem to lack proper customer awareness. What I mean by that is, I could be standing there for 1min (it's long, try it some time), before someone acknowledges me. Not good. read more

I used Panera for a large catering order and the customer service was really good the entire way through. The day of, they forgot one of the orders and unfortunately it had to be the vegetarian order. The ran back to get it, but it was inconvenient for our group of vegetarians (and stressed me out a little). This is my favorite place to buy bread. It's the best! Lately I've been searching for a good place to get deli sandwiches when I'm on the run and need a quick dinner option. I love La Bou, but they close in the afternoon. And I've tried all the typical places in Folsom and still haven't found what I'm looking for. Panera is open late, so I decide to try their sandwiches. I tried the Bacon Turkey Bravo sandwich on Tomato Basil bread and a bag of potato chips. Overall, it was very good. The tomatoes and lettuce were fresh & crisp. The turkey & swiss were delicious. The bread was good too, but I will probably choose rye bread (my favorite) next time. Only one complaint... for some reason the bacon didn't look anything like the picture of the sandwich on their website. I expected the bacon to be crispy and at the top of the sandwich. It was actually at the bottom of the sandwich and soggy. I plan to go back this week to try another sandwich with bacon to see if I can get crispy bacon. I really like Panera's Panini & Sandwich menu. I'm looking forward to trying more of their options. read more

This store is awful!! The staff is beyond rude and disrespectful to their customers. I watched the staff being disrespectful to multiple customers ahead of me then gave me the same disrespect. This should never be okay. I've honestly never seen any restaurant act in this manner to its customer. To top it off the store manager laughed at me when I brought this concern to her attention, then she told the employees what I had said and they all laughed as well. Just appalling. Have eaten at this location a number of times, and the food is nothing short of awesome each and every time. Staff is efficient, wait times are minimal (even when the place is very busy) and for the most part, the seating areas are very clean. The only drawback is that this is very much at the upper end of the pricing spectrum when it comes to this sort of food...but since the quality is up there as well, I'm willing to pay the price. I love PANERA bread, but I'm only going to give this location 3 stars. I has nothing to do with the food. It is always delicious and exactly what I want. The staff is also very kind. I guess, for me, it's always to crowded and I dislike how every time I dine in they are vacuuming. I understand that there is a need to keep the floors clean and tidy but maybe get a quieter vacuum? YMMV on this review but I was pretty disappointed. Place is just a glorified sandwich shop with all the charm and appeal of a food court at the airport. I went in expecting waiters , comfortable seating and nice ambience. I got none of those. We used the kiosk to order, grabbed a pager and waited. Then we went up got our order. So even if you understand what type of restaurant this place is be aware the food was just average. My wife's salad did not have enough salad dressing on it, my chicken noodle soup was below average and I did not realize that the chicken which came with my chicken Caesar salad could be cut so thin. Her full salad, my half salad, bowl of soup, and 2 small beverages cost $32 - hardly economical for the low level of service you are paying for. I suppose this is what we can look forward to for restaurants as so called progressives push for $15 minimum wages - staff cutbacks, more kiosks, less atmosphere. Nice going morons , your livable wage is going to cost the country millions of jobs, and narrow the opportunity for unskilled people to learn how to have a job. read more

I havent gotten a chance to do a review everytime I order but I always do the pick two combo salad and sandwich or sometimes sandwich and soup with chips all for under 10 dollars. I have been using Panera's Rapid Pick Up service ever since last summer because of its convenience and fast service. I tend not to dine inside since they usually get my order wrong and the last time I ordered a breakfast sandwich, the meat was basically a brick--I couldn't get my teeth through it. The girl who took my order for that sandwich was also not very friendly. I was in line in front of her and she looked at me as if I wasn't supposed to be there, and after staring at me for a few seconds, I had to ask if she would take my order, to which she responded with "oh, uh, yeah." No signs of courtesy or willingness to help, I wish I got her name. Now back to the Rapid Pick Up service... this morning I ordered a Scrambled Egg and Cheese on brioche and an orange scone. I received the scone, but the sandwich was something like an over easy egg with bacon. It was my fault that I didn't check before I left (I've never had to before since they have always gotten it right) so I was displeased to say the least. On their receipt, it says "Accuracy Matters," and I hope that they hold to this since I will give them one more chance. Otherwise, I cant say that my recent experiences have left me with any urge to come back and employ any of their services. read more
