Have always had a great experience at Panera. Except for today. I ordered the Mexican Corn chowder and Greek salad. The salad was fine, neither good nor bad, middling. The "soup" was a different story. It wasn't soup at all. It was not even stew, it was so thick that it really was inedible. My problem is that the folks working there had to have seen this?!? I was in the area today, so I decided to stop in since Panera is literally one of my fast favorites andI haven't been inside of this location for a few years due to the sharp decline in the food quality, cleanliness, and customer service levels, plus hair in the food. I didn't end up purchasing anything today, since the bakery shelves were mostly empty at 1P on a Tuesday and they didn't have the candy cookies, so I can't exactly review the customer service levels, but I can say that no one spoke to me while I was walking around the store. As soon as you walk in, the smell hits you in the nostrils and it isn't a smell I enjoy. After that, you immediately start to notice the level of uncleanliness, from the floor to the tables, the soda machines, the utensil holders, even the counters in the preparation area and the baked goods. Everything just looks grimy. IMHO, still not purchasing anything from this VCC Panera location as well as Bell Creek, Ashland, or VCU. ‍ I keep hoping it will get better! read more

The location of this Panera in Glen Allen is convenient for folks traveling through the area due to its proximity to the I-95 / I-295 intersection on the north side of Richmond. I will say I have no ideas why it's scoring so badly here, the food came out quick and was pipping hot. My order was correct even with the additions I made. The food tasted up to Panera bread quality. My Cons: customer service could be better. The counters was empty with no host to take orders which forced you to use the kiosk but u had a question so that why I didn't want to use the kiosks (it was a slow Sunday and a lot of staff in the building that was talking amongst themselves so I don't understand why no one could take my order) also it is kinda small inside so when it's busy I'm sure that could be a issue. We have ordered here often on the app and just run in and picked it up. Typically with no issue. However, on a Friday morning- we had some friends that wanted to dine in.... not a good move. It was about 930 am and there was no one working at the counter and we were ignored. So we were forced to use the kiosk. They actually got the orders right and the food was ok. However, this place was TRASHED!!! We were there about 30 min. No one wiped a single table off while we were there. Food was all over the tables and floors. and the bathrooms... well lets just say I have been in bathrooms at interstate gas stations that were better... Ordered the tomato basil BLT, it was good. However, the bread was cut very thin and the fillings were skimpy. It's pretty clear that there's some cost cutting going on with this sandwich. I don't mind it that much if it's not coupled with a price increase. Unfortunately, that is not the case here. Spouse ordered the spicy steak Asiago bagel. He enjoyed it. The bread to filling ratio was well balanced. Son ordered the bacon turkey bravo. He thought that the sandwich was more filling than bread and he loved that. He enjoyed the flavors but wasn't a fan of the bread. He felt that the sweet edges ruined the experience. We also got a brownie. They were too dense. I ordered a customized coffee and half dozen of bagels. They delivered an empty cup with only caramel syrup to my car! I was so confused. I've always been a fan of Panera Bread, and this was my first time trying a Virginia location. I went to Panera after seeing a movie with Avery's meet-up group. I ended up ordering a ton of food (a soup and salad combo, plus tried the new hibiscus tea, and added a baked good for just $1). Everything was delicious, although they ended up messing up my salad order (it was even wrong on the receipt though, so I guess there was just a misunderstanding when I ordered). I ordered my soup in a bread bowl, and it had been quite a while since I have had bread bowl soups, so I was really content. =) The tea and baked good were delicious too. This Panera had ample seating and was bright and lively with big glass windows. It is a great place to grab a quick bite to eat, and the portions are generous. Quick review of lunch I had at the Virginia Center Commons Panera yesterday: this place is always super friendly. Service is relatively fast considering they're almost always busy. I work across the street and also order delivery a lot, and their drivers are always super courteous and timely. Yesterday I did the You Pick Two with broccoli cheddar soup and the green goddess salad. The salad is one of my favorites and never disappoints. The soup tasted good but did come out a bit on the lukewarm side, which being August I didn't really mind but would have been pretty disappointed in colder months. The last three times I've been here, it has been woefully understaffed and horribly mismanaged. Today I stood in line for five minutes -- only one person ahead of me -- to buy some bagels.
