I have like it's really inappropriate that the staff cannot have two sliced bagels ready to go on time, not even toasted just sliced. Also, does this look appropriate slicing to you? There is no way for me to heat this up later evenly or top it because it's so unlevel nothing will rest on top. I don't think it's outlandish to expect that when I pay for a Togo order that is ready as expected in the expected spot, but somehow the cashier seems to think so. Even if it is busy, does the management stuff they're not anticipate that the mornings are a high traffic time and schedule staff appropriately? How in the world??? A friend and I agreed on Panera for a meeting place at lunch. I always like to look at menus online and decide on my meal before I meet a friend for dining. I have made some very poor choices in the past because I felt rushed. I don't like the pause in conversation while looking through the menu while the server circles in the background, anxious to take the order. I looked at the menu and made my pick. The next day when I ordered the broth bowl, I was told they had been out of that product for TWO days. The server said they were out of brocoli. I almost could not believe what I was hearing. The manager I spoke to could not even tell me when they would be getting the broccoli. I told the manager this was a BIG fail and she agreed. I was not offered alternate suggestions or anything. To make matters worse, the meal I did order was wrong. It was just a horrible Panera day. I will say this, though, about Panera. They upgraded the order they screwed up at no cost. Also, I filled out a comment card and someone from corporate called me to discuss my mishap. He was very nice and he sent me a gift card to comp the soup bowl they did not have in stock. Genuinely horrible service, ordered food for rapid pickup at 5:51, it was scheduled to be done at 6:19 (almost thirty whole minutes) and I stood there until 6:45. I stood and waited a whole entire 30 minutes. Absolutely insane work and this has happened twice. They're either insanely understaffed or managed horribly. Don't even bother. read more

The food is meh, they hardly get it right. One of the managers was yelling at an employee who couldn't have been older than 17. It's also dirty half of the time and they don't refill the tea. I ordered a warm bowl. My wife ordered an avocado turkey sandwich. We were then told they didn't have avocado. Also the only side available were apples. They were out of everything else. The cashier was ver unapologetic and didn't offer any solutions. So we order and pay. I hear my name called out immediately. I try to go to the pick up counter but can't because some of the staff's friends came in and they were joking around. Finally after several minutes I get to the pick up counter and am told they are out of all warm bowls?? So now I have to choose something else which was a flatbread. It was cheaper but I want offered any money back. Tried to get Sierra Mist but it was broken. Tried ginger ale and it tasted funky. Gave up on that. All the tables were dirty. There was zero napkins. The restroom was disgusting. One positive thing, the food was pretty damn good. BUT $35 seemed insanely high priced. I wasn't given a receipt so I can't check. read more

I have always found Panera Bread to be a good place for soup, sandwiches, and salads. My food has always been served hot and my salads cool and crisp I have purchased loaves of a variety of their breads and have never been disappointed. Service and friendliness of staff has always been good. I find it a little crowded at times, but that is the sign of a good restaurant. Wish tables were not so close together. read more

Unfortunately, the manager Maria is lacking basic customer service skills. I can't complain about all the managers because the light skinned black guy was extremely nice and accommodating when they got my order wrong. I frequent Panera a couple times a month, but I will never go to this one in Lawrence again because of Maria. This lady is in dire need of some coaching on how to treat guests. I always use rapid fire when placing my order so there is no hassle or waiting in line. I placed my order online and went to pick up it up for myself and my husband during my lunch hour. It was INCREDIBLY busy that day and the line was outside. I ended up waiting for 35 minutes inside of the store for my food which was never prepared. I completely understand stuff happens, but I wasn't going to waste anymore time. I was asked to write my name down and that I would be refunded. The cashier was extremely nice, apologized many times and offered me something from the bakery and a free soda. I had to decline due to my meal restrictions at the time. This incident happened on October 11th. Sometime goes by and I realize I was never refunded my money. No big deal, things sometimes get missed, so I called inquiring about when my refund would be processed. That's when Maria got on the phone with her condescending tone and basically lied to me stating that they only do their batches every 5 days and she would have to call me back on Tuesday (it was a Saturday when I called) As a former restaurant manager I am unaware of any place that doesn't batch the system at the end of every single night, but she obviously just wanted to get me off of the phone. If you ever have an issue, hopefully you don't have to deal with Maria. It is December 7th and still no refund. At this point I don't want my money, but I will not return. read more

After a long day of being sick I ordered Panera through DoorDash and unfortunately never received it. Now this is not Panera's fault at all! While this seems to be a really upsetting situation the Panera staff took it into their own hands and made this whole situation turn to a good one. The night Crew on Wednesday November 1st truly made my day better! I'm extremely grateful for how accommodating they were. I recommend this Panera shop to anyone in need of comforting food and a kind greeting from the staff! read more

I agree the manager is awesome! Staff is awesome! One thing I really don't like is inconsistent enforcement of mask wearing. Some folks come in and wait near the kiosks or walk right in and walk around, get coffee, do what they do around the place and have no mask! This, despite the fact that we're told we have to wear masks (which is great, just enforce it equally); we are all trying to staff safe. Also, one of the staff members who works in the kitchen goes into the men's room (a very small room with not much ventilation) with his mask full down around his chin and I often see him in the kitchen also without pulling up his mask properly. This is upsetting because my father used to like to go to Panera's and now he can't; he's older and has a condition and is now afraid to go into that bathroom because he saw this guy repeatedly go in without a mask. Please, Panera, do the right thing, especially with your own staff. My family has been loyal customers for 18 years now and we'd hope that this is the least you can do for you customers and "family." read more

I understand that Lawrence's Panera does not get the traffic others in larger towns so, but perhaps if there were food choices available, it would get more. This morning there were about 5 choices of bagels (out of 15?), no soufflés and was told none would be forthcoming, one bear claw and about 6 muffins total. The young woman waiting the front kept us waiting several minutes before appearing from the back and, perhaps was tired for apologizing for the lack of food because we got none. So order a whole turkey for her, he states I can't modify from the menu. Manager Shelby comes up with another spin. We can't modify sandwiches because of food cost. They were completely out of max and cheese, how does that even happen? so my civilized self though it's fine why don't I order a pizza, but once again no they are out. Worse customer service ever. Beginning with the slowest person up front. She takes forever to take an order. I've seen people leave bc they are on their lunch break and the line is not even long but the time they take for each person. This young girl always have airpods - unbelievable. // Today I decided to dine in and supposedly enjoy a good meal with my family, so we have a baby and I wasn't even thinking to rush about my food but after a while decided to go and checked, nothing, al right went back to the table and then came back to check a few minutes later just to found out they had given someone else who who got there after me their order. I placed a catering order for 15 people last week for a work lunch. I ordered online and everything was very straight forward. Panera lets you pick the delivery time, giving you 15 minute windows. I selected that it be delivered between 10:45-11:00am. It was 11:00am no sign of the delivery driver. I called the store and the person who answered acted like it was something that happened all the time. He said to call back if it wasn't there by 11:30. The food finally shows up at almost 11:15. The delivery person didn't give us a receipt. I had to call the store to have them email me one. It really irks me when things don't show up on time or when people act like it's not a big deal if it's late. They charge a $15 delivery fee, they damn well better show up in the time window I selected. The food was really good and my order was correct. We ordered a variety of sandwiches, a large salad, cookies, and iced tea. I have no complaints on the food, but the service wasn't great. For 15 people, we spent $213 and then gave a $20 tip. It was on the pricey side, in my opinion. I have mixed feelings if I will order from Panera next time we have a catered lunch. read more

I come here regularly because I love Paneras breakfast, coffee and lattes, but the service at this location often lacking. They are always slow and seem understaffed. Lines are to be expected. On two occasions in the last month(on a weekend morning) there were no barristas, and so cafe drinks. I can't decide between 3 stars for OK and 4 stars for yay I'm a fan. It's because their food is pretty good but their services is usually slow and they are usually out of what I want. I love the cinnamon crunch bagel but they always seem to be out. I tried ordering a bagel pack online and it was annoying to go through and select for each bagel if you wanted it sliced- why can't I select a slice all button? It gives you suggested numbers of varieties and I had to go change each flavor to my numbers. Maybe leave it blank but have a button for those who want a suggestion of what variety to get let them click it. Also when ordering my bagel pack online I didn't have the option of raspberry cream cheese- have they gotten rid of it? I wish not. But overall the price of a bagel pack is a good deal. No, really. You're on Yelp reading a review to decide if you're going to stop at a Panera Bread? No, really, I actually had lunch here at someone else's suggestion and thought, "OK, why not." It was probably time I reasoned. Now, after years of driving on by, that decision has been justified. Look, I get it that these places have their fans, and putting a review on Yelp will have no impact on their business. But it does justify to me why most corporate food is such a bad choice. I appreciate they market themselves as offering healthy choices and foods minus many of the things that are bad for us, but quite frankly, I'm dubious. Two very small half turkey and kale sandwiches (or, ie., one full sandwich, two halves x $5.49), two very small bowls of onion soup, one apple, one small bag of chips and a soft drink. $22.52 with tax. Cha-ching. Brazen. God bless Panera. If that's not a $2 or 10% food cost, putting them clearly in the top tier of profitability, I'll eat my hat. It might taste more appealing. The sandwiches were dry, the bread flavorless, filled with a little bit of unseasoned or poorly seasoned white turkey meat, a bit of kale that amounted to less than a single leaf between the two, and a bit of tomato. Unlike most chains that laden you with sodium, it appeared to be missing from the sandwiches. The soup was bland, watery, the onions uninteresting and the cheese stringy in a way that suggests it'd be sitting a very long time. A few unseasoned croutons filled it out. At $3.79 a very small bowl, I take the 10% comment back. Lets say 5% food cost at best. At $2.09 for the small soft drink, the epicenter of profit for all fast food centers, go ahead and lower that food cost for the drink to 1% for the beverage for my dining companion. I stuck with water. Hmm, yea, maybe 10% overall is a tad high, but when it's this bland, does it matter? Service was prompt, you pick up the food yourself, and you're expected to bus your own table. At least we saved a tip. By God, you want to see a place making money serving uninteresting, boring food to the masses? Look no further. read more

The food is great and the service was really quick. Which was a shock because it was so packed! I got a bagel, a bagel sandwich and a pop and it cost about 9 bucks which isn't too bad. The food is extremely filling. I love the paintings of bagels everywhere. The location works out well, lots of parking. All in all great spot. read more
