Some restaurants have figured out how to still provide decent service even during the COVID-19 pandemic. Panera Bread is not one of them. Asked for a bagel, toasted with butter, for dine-in. I got a toasted bagel and three small packs of rock-hard nearly frozen butter and a plastic knife to attempt to spread this rock-hard butter with. Knife snapped in two pieces, got a second plastic knife but eventually gave up on any hope of trying to spread this butter on the bagel. Also asked for a chocolate milk, and was given a hard cardboard container with a pull tab and a tiny plastic straw that was in two pieces and was supposed to extend in order to be long enough to use. The tab wouldn't pull open easily, so I had to hold the container more firmly to try to pull back the tab. Upon which, when the tab finally did release the chocolate milk erupted from the cardboard box like a volcano because of the pressure needed to just hold the box while trying to pull the tab. Oh, and the straw came apart and was unusable. Just butter my bagel for me using your non-plastic silverware, give me a normal chocolate milk (even one in a normal milk carton would be fine), and give me a normal straw or a plastic cup to drink it with. I just moved to the area, love Panera- except this one..... Always slow. I just waited 25 minutes for a "rapid pick-up order" that should have been ready in 5-10. Not the first time at this location. They are constantly out of items, and the food isn't nearly as good as the Westerville or Gahanna locations- which I have always loved. Worst part is the order was already paid for through the app, so I couldn't even change my mind after waiting 10 minutes in store- just got to keep waiting. Good thing I flagged someone down to ask for the beverages I already paid for and weren't placed on the shelf when they finally got my order together. Best part? If I could have rated this a ZERO, I would have. If you enjoy incorrect orders every time you visit Panera, then this is the restaurant for you! The "customize" feature on the website is super convenient, and if you customize your meal with the New Albany Panera, you're guaranteed the perfect meal about 2% of the time. Time after time, I request spinach as the base for my salads. Do you know who enjoys an arugula salad? No one. And the prices can't be beat! Why pay $5.99 for a half salad, when you could order a full salad for only $4 more?! Oh....because the full salad will be the size of the half salad, that's why. I don't know what it is about Panera and their classic cafe salad but it's just not what it used to be when it was the one thing I always got. The salad now looks more like some leftover chunks of romaine after they used the good bits for sandwiches. Went here during a busy lunch hour and I will give it to them they were fast with the service but what was served - meh! When did they stop asking if you wanted chips or a baguette with your salad? I ordered the turkey avocado blt and while the bread was good (ALL of their bread is good) the sandwich was sad. Turkey was ok, bread good, bacon didn't even looked cooked at all, and the avocado? One green stain on one slice of bread. No good! I showed it to a manager who let me order a different sandwich which while the asiago bread was nummy the rest of the sandwich was - you guessed it - meh! As I'm in the area often I'll probably go back but will be very picky about what I order. Or maybe I'll just do a bagel with some cream cheese. I love how they slice their bagels. read more

Worst Panera I've ever been to in terms of customer service. They get my order wrong literally every single time, and every employee/manager will act annoyed with you if you ask for anything to be remade or replaced, even if they made a mistake. I once brought a salad back untouched (I ordered a different salad), and the manager told me they would not replace it because I didn't have the receipt. This place is a disaster. Staff who have no clue what they're doing, and then get pissy attitudes when you ask for your order to be corrected, then complain to the customers that they are short staffed, as if that's our fault or we have any control over it. They are also constantly out of their best items, and don't seem to care when they can't provide the items they want. This place used to be a First Watch and i miss it so much now! When I go to Panera I expect them to know how to make a sandwich. I went through the drive thru and the lady was extremely rude to me when I asked if I could have chips vs a baguette. I explained that I was done ordering and she said "see you at the window" I get to the window and pay, she takes my money and then shuts the window for quite sometime. When she opens back up , she said "here's your card" fine no worries there. THEN, she goes and talks to her coworkers which seemed like forever and she came back to the window and said "your total is $21" Then looked up at me and goes "oops I'm sorry, you haven't gotten your food yet" I said "nope, I've been here waiting and you've already taken my money" TERRIBLE SERVICE WILL NOT BE BACK. You know it truly amazes me how a restaurant can continue to do business with absolutely no one with any sort of customer service skill. This location has ALWAYS been extremely underwhelming when it comes to service. When they answer the drive thru they say "what do you want" or "what can I get you" depends on who you get and how bad of a day they are having. They never say Thank you. I normally like Panera but this one is nothing but disappointing. First we ordered a rapid pick up online and once we got there we waited an additional 20 minutes after it was supposed to be ready. Once we got home with the food, we realized they didn't even put one of the sandwiches in the bag. When we went back to get the sandwich, they didn't even offer to make a new one let alone apologize. They just went back and picked up the sandwich off the counter and the guy said "Oh I was wondering what that was doing still sitting there." My grilled cheese was cold and the soup was barely warm. I used to be a huge Panera fan, eating there twice a week. This location is AWFUL. The food is consistently bad, either cold (not even luke warm soup) or burnt (the kids mac and cheese isn't edible). I was in there the about a month ago and the lady in front of me had to re-order 5 times because they were out out of everything. Generally Panera is one of my favorite spots for meetings and a quick meal. Although the cashier was super, the prep of our food was extremely slow, our portions were small compared to the price and when they messed up our order they didn't even apologize or acknowledge that they messed up the order. Not so fond of this location. I love the convenience of the drive thru, which is my only reason to visit here. The quality of the food isn't the greatest. I also find that my orders are wrong a good number of the times i have visited here. I have had problems just getting a simple decaf coffee order correct here. Also tends to be out of stuff a lot. Been served baguette so hard couldn't eat it. I could go on. Go in or drive thru does not matter.... good luck getting a good quality accurate order... Maybe they have fixed things.... maybe not.
