am writing to share a disappointing experience my daughter and I had today at your cafe location Port Jefferson Station NY 11776 store#4077. ​I was visiting with my two granddaughters (ages 10 months and 3 years). As any parent or grandparent knows, getting small children out of the car and settled into a restaurant is a significant undertaking. After we placed our order, which came to a total of $43.64, I attempted to pay with a $50 bill--the only cash I had on hand. My daughter did not have her purse with her at the time. ​To my surprise, the cashier informed me that you do not accept $50 bills. I looked around and noticed there were no signs posted outside or at the register notifying customers of this policy. ​I asked to speak with the manager, Jenny Rivera, to see if an exception could be made given the circumstances. Her response was dismissive. She stated that she receives "too many" $50 bills that she has to exchange at the bank and that if she accepted mine, she would have to accept everyone else's. She concluded by telling us that if we couldn't pay the $43.64 exactly, we simply could not eat there. ​While the management showed a complete lack of empathy, I was moved by the kindness of strangers. Two individuals in the lobby overheard the exchange and insisted on paying for our meal. While I am incredibly grateful for their generosity, it is embarrassing that your customers had to provide the hospitality that your management refused to offer. ​I believe your staff should be empowered to use common sense--especially when the bill is nearly the amount of the currency provided--and that your cash policies should be clearly posted to avoid wasting customers' time. ​ read more

I've always enjoyed Panera for their sandwiches, soups, smoothies, and bakery items, and I generally feel the quality is worth the price. Recently, I've been ordering their Caesar salad more often and adding extra toppings like croutons, cucumbers, corn, and extra egg. My only consistent issue has been with the portioning of the eggs. I pay $1.38 for extra egg each time, but the amount varies significantly. Sometimes I receive two whole eggs, other times one egg cut in half, or pieces of halfs. With eggs being expensive, I would appreciate more consistency in portion size, especially when paying extra. Overall, I enjoy Panera, but this is something that would improve the experience. read more

This Panera is nice and small.. not too many windows so it's a bit dark.. not busy.. ample parking in the back.. I like it that they have healthy options like oatmeal made with steel cut oats and water.. I added blueberries to replace the sugar and pecans and I was given 5 pieces of blueberries.. no big deal... i also like it that they have almond milk in the coffee station.. definitely my fave brunch go to place. read more

My hometown Panera Bread! I saw on Yelp I didn't write a review about this location. I mean, it's a chain that's true but with any Panera bread, there is *UNLIMITED* coffee. UNLIMITED...... You could stay here all day and drink java but then who would feed my dogs?? Panera Bread has just that, they make cookies, breads and bagels. This is from their website: Our bakers work each and every day, hand-shaping and scoring the dough to bring you freshly baked bread every morning and throughout the day. Now that my Yelp friends is just responsible. Who wants to eat a mass produced bread that's trucked in? Make it and sell it at the same location! I also have to add about their free wi-fi. I'll come in every once in a while for lunch. I do like coming here on Saturday morning, connecting to wi-fi and having a Hazelnut coffee with a krinkle cookie. They don't make it every year, a krinkle cookie is a chocolate Christmas time seasonal cookie. My favorite! Plenty of parking in the front and out back. Also, download the rewards app! read more

Went to have lunch with my wife today. I typically don't watch the workings of any restaurant I visit, however this one is an exception. First off, you have to wipe down tables. Even before Covid was a thing. My wife and I watched as numerous customers sat at tables that were not sanitized after another customer sat there. I frequent this restaurant often. This Panera bread gets me so frustrated. I think Panera's food is your standard soup and salad (nothing special)and it's pretty typical to any branch you go to. But sometimes when I order the soup I'm given lukewarm soup that gets cold in seconds. I'm also frustrated because I really like ordering on the kiosks but they're never working. What's the most annoying thing about the kiosks randomly not working is the fact that I can't really tell if I have any rewards or not and the cashiers never readily tell you unless you ask. Kinda annoying. When I try mobile ordering, it still takes a long while for me to pick-up my order in store too. This tends to be a busier branch I guess but it's still annoying to wait 30 mins+ for your food. The reason I like going to this branch is that there is tons of seating, some that are around outlets, so you can easily get work done here without worrying that people will ask you to move. I went here specifically for soup in a bread bowl and was very disappointed with what I got. I got the chicken noodle soup which had mostly soaked into the bread and made it way too soggy. The noodles, chicken and vegetables were all clumped together with barely any soup since it got absorbed into the bread. I made the mistake of getting the bread bowl especially because I was in the mood for soup. I also ordered bread on the side which was pretty hard and crisp, I didn't even eat it. The service however was very nice and we sat next to the warmth of the mini furnace. I will return, but just stick with the regular soup not in a bread bowl! read more

I visited this location on a Weekday morning. Great service, standard quality food, TONS of seating and working Wifi! Woo Negative: Some of the tables were already dirty and hadn't been wiped down. While I was there someone wiped some tables and picked up trash, however it still wasn't all clean. Never like to give a bad review but the service here is awful. I should of realized when the staff that took my order was very busy talking about the weekend and not very concerned about the waiting customers. I picked up 3 orders to go, total wrong order . Called , spoke to the Asst Manager he insisted that I had to drive back ad they would re make my order. When I explained I only had limited time he acted like it was my problem. Would not reimburse the expense, or compensate with a gift card. Almost $9 dollars for salad and bad customer service, not even an apology is just inexcusable. Probably the best Panera in Long island. Thr service is exceptional. Casey always makes sure the coffee is fresh. He seems to be the coffee wizard! Order is always wrong. I can never walk out of there without checking my bag because I'll either get the wrong soup, side, wrong sandwich sometimes. The other day I had to give my bag back to them because I didn't get my side. When I got it back my sandwich was everywhere, in the bag, in the box, literally everywhere. Today specifically I didn't have a cup with my order, and when I checked my bag I didn't get half my order and had to wait for someone to help me while they pretty much ignored me after saying excuse me a few times. Been coming to this Panera for a long time and something that I've noticed is that when you order rapid pickup and your order moves on the screen from PREPARING to READY the staff doesn't put the order out on the pickup shelf. According to their app my order was done at 10:09am and it wasn't move to the pickup shelf for another 20 minutes. This has now happened several times but 20 minutes is the worst that I've seen. My beloved Panera Bread! The soup brings me back everytime! And the grilled cheese! The bread is always fresh and delightful. I frequent here to get out of my house when I need to get homework done and use the free Wi-Fi. The staff is usually teenagers but they're friendly and do their best to make you feel welcome. This location is usually very clean. Sometimes it can get a little loud, but that's when the family crowds come in the evening. I do have to say I'm not a fan of the new dinner rolls. I prefer the baguette we usually get when you order soup. Next time I'll turn down the dinner roll. The size is very large and there is room to be reserved for large crowds. There's plenty of parking space and the service is quick and easy. Although this is a chain restaurant, I have no problems with Panera bread! read more

***The Panera by which all other Paneras are judged*** Am I really giving a Panera 5 stars? This one is pretty awesome. -Size? It's huge, always have a ton of seating. Substantially larger than the one by Smith Haven mall. -Clean? Yes, they do a great job with this. -Customer Service? Always well-staffed, never takes a long time to get your order in. -Parking? Never a problem, have extra space in back if need be. -Bonus: Wendy's is all but a 20 second walk away. And in typical Panera-style they have people come to take away your dirty plates instead of push for you to leave if they see your computer plugged in on a table saturated with books. Such a large staff makes the food a bit more expensive than what I would ideally hope for, but no complaints since this restaurant/cafe is run well and very clean. Basically the only downside is the internet can be spotty at times depending on usage. Fortunately, there are a couple other networks with public access so it usually isn't a problem. Bottom Line: I've been to quite a few Panera's and this is the best. Nice place for a meal, chat or to get work done. read more

Last night was Chick Fil As Grand Opening preparation campout next door. I really wanted to go to it because the first 100 people through the door at Chick Fil A got one years supply of Chick Fil A food. But I knew the camping out had begun early that morning and I figured the 100 people were already in place. Rather than driving from Nesconset to Pt Jeff for nothing, after google map street viewing Chick Fil A and seeing panera next door I called & Alexander answered. I asked him to look out the window and tell me if there were alot of people already camping out there. He said No! There only looked like a few tents set up! So I raced down there, spent the night & ended up going from #103 to --thanks to some people who gave up & went home -- #93, so I got my food. Thanks Alexander. read more

I was so happy when this Panera opened. It is clean and the food is amazing. The you pick two is great if you can't decide what you want. I usually get the chicken noodle soup with the mac and cheese but everything on the menu is great. Also, if you know you are going to be eating at Panera a lot you should sign up for the Panera card. It's free and you get discounts and free treats. After the first two times I ate here I got a free cookie. The card is worth the 5 minutes to fill out the form. read more

I love Panera bread so much but I think this should be addressed. I went there today and ordered to stay, as I'm paying I ask if we can switch it to go. She says yes and goes to tell them. I get home to eat my food and the sandwich was burnt black, and my turkey chili lid was left slightly opened so spilled all over my pants when I opened it. I've never had any problems with Panera and am very annoyed because I love Panera. Panera is awesome. After a long, tiring, day at a soccer tournament I was famished. So when I walked into panera, I made the right choice! I ordered the kids mac and cheese which came out very fast but was still really good! Food is always good , fast and reasonable. My go to are sandwiches and salads. From breakfast to dinner everything is always good.
