This used to be one of our favorite places to eat in Burke until today. I was with a group of 5. We waited over an hour for our food and when they finally brought it to the table, they neglected to bring one entree. After 15 minutes I asked the waiter what was taking so long. He responded without apology by saying they had a lot of carry out orders. The tables were only half filled but as we were leaving, there was a long line and some people were waiting over 30 minutes for a table. It is clear that there was a service issue. As for the quality of the food, it did not meet expectations and previous experiences. Burke needs good restaurants and this negative experience results in an assessment that this one does unfortunately does not meet the mark. read more

I didn't like it. I ordered the following: () Thai Ice Tea- Just way too sweet, no real flavor, just sickeningly sweet. () Spring rolls- The roll itself was crispy and okay, but the veges inside were hard, cold, and raw-like. () Basil Chicken- It was just okay, but it was off. Really love this place. My family eats here all the time. My favorite dishes are the Spicy Noodle soup which I get almost every time....it comes with chicken, shrimp and dumplings and is so good......I also love the duck salad. Have never had a bad meal here. read more

This has been our go to Thai place. Any of the dishes with beef and veggies are great but hubby can only vouch for pad thai which he gets every time. The appetizer options are all delicious and rice is always perfectly cooked. It is in a good location with plenty of parking. read more

Panisa has incredible food with lots of flavor and is very fresh. Leave room for dessert because the fried banana's and coconut ice cream is to die for. The staff is friendly and service is great. The atmosphere is warm and quiet. This is my go to restaurant when company comes to visit! read more

First time at Panisa and we loved it! Had pad Thai (as good as I've ever had), Thai rice (also excellent) and my wife had yellow curry. All very good! We took our two little kids at about 5:30 and beat the crowd. The staff was very accommodating with the kids. Atmosphere was nice and price was great. Definitely recommend! read more

I just love the place! The food is great, the staff could not be more friendly, and we love the atmosphere. We dine in and carry-out. I love the Soups, Pad Preow Wan, Pad Krapow, and all the different appetizers. The duck I had was so delicious! We eat Panisa at least twice a month. read more

Love this place so much. All the food that my friends, my fiance, and I have tried has been great. Everything is fresh and delicious. They are always willing to let us switch up menu items. For example, they will make your curry anywhere from extra spicy all the way down to mild. They have let me swap broccoli for green peppers and tofu for chicken. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I love the atmosphere. There are three types of seating areas (standard dining area with booths and tables, bar with TV, and cozy, wood-paneled back room) which allows you to pick the perfect atmosphere for your group. Great food but they are taking a lot of shortcuts lately. They only give me four pieces of shrimp with my pad Thai nowadays even though I ask for more. They used to give six or more. They no longer put the package lemon that they used to when they first opened. Even though I asked for it when I placed the order to go they do not put it in there. When I get it home I'm disappointed I have no lemon sometimes there are no peanuts in the pad Thai. And I have to ask for the hot peppers they don't offer condiments. read more

Panisa is amazing! We eat there regularly when we can. I recommend the spring rolls, cashew chicken, Pad Thai, and crispy chicken. The meat and vegetables are fresh and high quality. The food is so great and yet everything is really reasonably priced. We have visited Panisa consistently and are never disappointed. This is one of best thai restaurants in NoVa. They are up there with Thai Square and Bangkok 54. I rate them the best in Fairfax; little better than Courtside Thai or 4 Sisters. Been coming since they opened; steep decline. Ordered curry "soup," which turned out to be a pile of gloppy noodles with a few tablespoons of "broth" at bottom. Ugh. Told server I was disappointed with meal; she just giggled and disappeared. Then I had to get up and hunt her down to pay bill; ALL of staff were in kitchen yakking and on phones. I love Thai and live close. My daughter and I arrived about 8pm on a Friday night. Upon entering I was greeted with the aroma of Jasmine rice, sweet and starchy and I just love that!! The place was packed, but surprisingly most of the folks were waiting for take out and we were seated immediately. The menu is varied and well grouped. The food at all tables looked beautiful, colorful and fresh. Our waiter was very pleasant and greeted us immediately and provided ice water. Honestly after that, and perhaps due to being short staffed, the service (though very gracious) was super slow. We ordered an appetizer of steamed dumplings, generous size of 6! Nice touch of crispy garlic and fresh scallions sprinkled on top and a really well balanced sweet/salty dipping sauce. Great pickled veggies on the side. We shared a bowl of shrimp wonton soup...6-7 nice sized wontons, but they were boring in flavor. Broth was robust, and clean. Despite the long wait to receive the soup it arrived piping hot, which is always a plus! Finally, we shared a plate of tofu pad thai. Good sized portion. I liked the ground peanuts all on one side so the individual crunch factor can be controlled. Great amount of crispy and creamy tofu triangles. The noodle dish, however was too wet for my liking. I realize it's a personal preference and I also do not like pad thai too dry, but when there's a soy/tamarind puddle at the bottom of the dish...that's overkill. Bottom line (and Yelp, you're brilliant for not allowing reviewers to "sit on the fence" by having an odd numbered star system) I am going so sit on the fence here and rate 2.5 stars in actuality. I would try the restaurant again, and hope for more timely service. Next time I'd sample a curry or kaprow. Also, the acoustics in the restaurant are VERY loud. So, this is not the place to come to unwind, it's just decibel overkill. Dear Panisa, please knock my socks off next time-or we will forever part ways! read more

I used to love this place, but food quality has gone down, and tonight was the last straw. Called to order for pickup, young girl answered the phone and asked if I could hold, then set the phone down and walked away for 15 minutes. I got to hear all her various conversations with other employees. So I drove to the restaurant, asked to speak to the manager and gave him the run down. I was met with a sea of blank expressions. He brushed it off - "she answered the phone accidentally". No. Not an accident. I have two words for you. Customer Service. Try some. Perhaps you may keep other customers. But not me. They made no efforts to appease me even though I had clearly been inconvenienced and was clearly not happy about it. Just rationalization and argument. A little gem in Burke! The food is some of the best Thai around, more than comparable to the often written about restaurants in the DC, Arlington area, right in my back yard. (When Tom Sietsma likes it you know it's good.) Outwardly, just another small restaurant in a strip mall but inside is a world of intense flavor and good quality ingredients. A rare place that actually will turn up the heat to a great level if you ask for it, and it's done well. I believe I have eaten just about everything on the menu. The curries are all great, the nua yum salad is tremendous and the catfish is moist, bursting with wonderful spice. All portions are big., each dish is shareable. Even if you have "no room left" order the fried bananas with vanilla ice cream - it's OK, really - that's why we go out to eat! I always order wine with my meal. They have a nice selection at reasonable prices. Last, but not least, the entire staff cares and strives to please. I love going to Panisa. I'm there 3-4 times a month. read more

I eat here frequently and have never been disappointed! Though, this evening our entrees (4) were light on the meat. Still great tasting, still great service, very clean, but disappointed we paid the price of $11.95 for an entree with 90% of it being onions, peppers, or carrots. Phooey! read more

Finally. A decent, non-fast food restaurant in my backyard! Yay!!!! Panisa is a brand new restaurant in Burke Centre. The atomosphere is very relaxing, hardwood flooring, beautiful fixtures. The staff was very friendly and the food very tasty. I had an eggplant and tofu dish and spring rolls which were both superb ... spicy and just right. A friend had yellow curry chicken that was a bit spicy for her and the staff took it back, reconcocted it and brought it back to the table to her liking. Another friend had the stand-by Thai Pad Thai which she enjoyed in addition to Mango sticky rice. The Thai ice tea was scruptuous. I will definately be back here again soon.
