I'm a picky person when it comes to my nails because I have had many bad experiences in the past. When I meet a good one I prefer to only trust them for my nails. I live in Sacramento but decided to go here to get my nails done since my friend has her nail tech Kevin that does a great job which I had tried once and liked how he did my nails. This time I was expecting for him to do my nails again since my friend had already called them ahead of time to let the owner know that we were both going to be there and requested for the same person to do both our nails. Well, when we arrived Kevin pawned me off to another lady because he said he had another client coming so he decided to work on my friend's nails while she was getting a pedicure at the same time. The funny thing is, they supposedly don't take appointments and it's a first come first serve basis so if we were there first then my understanding is we would both get serviced first. I understand my friend is his regular customer so he would serve her first but I didn't appreciate the fact that he just threw me to some other girl to do my nails instead of asking me if I would prefer to wait for him. Being confused and not wanting to be rude I decided to give the girl a chance. I suppose she felt my resistance and told me not to worry bc she has over 10 years experience. I showed her a picture of what I wanted and she said she could do it. Well to my disappointment, my nails design did not turn out to look anything like the picture I showed her which didn't surprise me bc she finished my nails pretty fast and charged me 65.00. Aside from my nails, I also got a pedicure and was charged 48.00 when all she did was remove my cuticles, remove my callous and painted my toe nails. She probably charged me extra for the French tip and two flower designs on my toes but even a basic pedicure comes with a foot massage which I didn't even get except she did put lotion on my leg only. Also make sure you check your receipt bc I was told my full set was 65 and pedicure was 48 which would be 113 but my friend paid for both hers and mine and when she recently looked at her receipt it showed 252 which means they charged her 126.00 for each of us when mine was only 113.00. The 252 was not including the tip that she gave separately so just beware. Will I return as a customer? No! read more

Hello my experience coming to Paolas has all always been something with appointments,They are never on time & also try to squeeze in people in before me when I already have an appointment . I have been coming for at least 6 years and all they say is sorry she/he is backed up . Keep in mind I been waiting for about 1-2hours with appointment. The service is nice but my toe got infected. I'm dipping my toe in salted water as I'm typing this. First of all I can in for a clean up then the lady asked if I wanted her to take off my nail that was bugging me I said yes then next thing I know she putting acrylic on my toes it kinda bothered me but I didn't say anything my total went from $35 to $55 dollars and an infected toe.I can't go to school nor go to work because of this , my toe is swollen it's pulsing and I can't even walk because the pressure makes me cry. read more

The service by each member of the staff is wonderful as soon as you walk in they great you and treat you with respect and friendly. The quality of their work is 100% very satisfied. After scheduled appointment still expect a wait. Manager was helpful however after leaving the nail technician a tip she had the audacity to say my debit card had no money aloud. Simple mistake in entering pin. No base coat was applied and recycled top coat. read more

This is my first Yelp review. I'm trying to find a go-to spot here in Boyle Heights. This was the first shop I visited, it seemed to have decent reviews, but I had to give it 2-stars. My rating is due to cleanliness, this place is dirty, and seriously needs an update to benefit employees and most importantly, the customers. The walls, chairs, their workstations and decor are all dirty. So of course the have unsanitary tools; i.e. cuticle removers I expect a brand new cuticle remover to be opened before being used on me... unfortunately that is not the case at Paola Nails, so gross. The staff was fine, the older woman who did my nails wasn't bad, but she the same ratty old towel on me as she did the client before me. To clean it she walked outside and just shook it clean.... that's why I give this place 2 stars. The just need to upgrade everything ASAP. Also, I paid $34 for a fill, trim, and gel color. After reading reviews, I decided to try this place and I requested Kevin. When I arrived, Kevin was there ready for me right away. I told him that I wanted short coffin French ombre nails. He did them PERFECTLY! Kevin was so nice and he took his time with my nails. He was very professional. I trusted him and was able to relax and watch the movie that they were playing while he took care of me. Amazing Job. Beautiful full set. Will be coming back! I'll keep it simple: went in for a pedicure and manicure and right off the bat, the place is ghetto looking. I thought, don't judge a book by its cover, right? Well, you know that bag they place in the tub for easy clean up? Well, they reuse the same bag over and over again. Ok, no biggie I think. Less plastic in the ocean but then I notice don't sanitize their utensils!!! The lady pulled all her tools out of a little drawer and I was so freaked out I didn't know what to do. I didn't want to be rude or anything so I just froze and prayed to God I didn't puck up an infection from anything!!! The lady itself was okay, tried to make conversation but her work input was not worthy of a tip. Her scrubbing was a mere 3 seconds on each foot and no soap or anything! I didn't even want to look at the brush she used. On simpler terms, yuck. Don't do it. Not even if it's an emergency like me. Don't! read more

Rushed my nails and I wasn't the slightest bit satisfied with how they looked afterwards. They are not taking hygiene and safety precautions seriously. The lady used gloves that she already had one when I got there to do my nails. She removed one glove to fill a bowl up with warm water and put the same glove back on. Who knows how many times she used those same gloves. They used soiled tools like the spinning buffing machine and cuticle removers on me. The tiny tin In which she took it out from had a label on top that said "soiled tools". She didn't wipe down the area where she did my nails. There was debris from someone else's nail situation on the table when I got there. There's a serious virus going around and they don't seem to care enough to use clean tools on their customers. Horrible pedicure experience. She was too rough with removing the cuticles to the point where she cut me. I gave her the benefit of the doubt, maybe it was an accident so I let it go. But she kept going after I told her to stop cause it hurt. I let her finish the pedicure and it's only been 2 days now my toe is swollen and infected. I'm on my feet 10-11hrs a day for work and I can barely walk from the pain. I shouldn't have ANY type of pain after a pedicure, the whole point of it is to make my feet feel good and now I gotta deal with this bs. I saw the reviews for this place and it's super close to my apt so I decided to stop by. The first evening I went they were super busy so I decided to make an appt for the following day (today) plus the lady who was going to do my mails couldn't do what I wanted. So I came back today and I still didn't get the job done. I just wish my nails were thinner like I asked and if you're going to go here I would make an appt with the guy or the lady directly next to him. Ever since I found him, swear I never have anyone else do my nails. Parking is in the lot, gets crazy packed on Saturdays and sometimes Thursday Friday nights. Just make sure you call in or make an appointment if you don't want to wait! Kevin does really great designs if you need any bomb nails. He usually has really good ideas, but sometimes we'll collaborate with the colors I want and he pretty much throws all these other great ideas! The staff was friendly. The massage chairs are a big plus and totally kept me saying yes to the extras just to stay in the chair. But, my mani and pedi were not great. They were sloppy. The lady that did my feet took her time and gave me a nice massage but my nails turned out ok and they left polish on my foot. The lady that did my hands did a horrible job she left my nails crocked, with cuticles and some paint on my nails. They were just sloppy. Also, they use a nail dremel which I asked them not to. I hear those carry bacteria and are illegal. Sadly after I left I noticed that the lady that did my feet had not used a new file which is code. I will not be returning. read more
