    Cheese empanada

Really delicious Bolivian food in Van Nuys recommended to us by word of mouth. We ordered: * cheese empanada * beef Salteñas - this was really spicy with potatoes and peas and came with a green salsa. Super tasty * Silpancho - thin breaded and fried beef with over easy eggs, potatoes, white rice, and purple onion and tomato salsa. Super tasty. This was my favorite dish * picante de pollo - chicken stew with white rice, potatoes, and purple onion. This was flavorful and the chicken was nice and tender * alfajores - Carmel cookie with coconut shavings. This was a flaky, buttery cookie with Carmel in the middle and coconut shavings on the side

Small hole in the wall restaurant off van nuys blvd. It's your mom & pop Bolivian owned homemade cooking. I'm don't know much about Bolivian food but was invited by a group of friends. I ordered the sopa de mani & found it to be tasty. The empanada was not what I expected, bit dry & sweet but I think this is normal for Bolivian food. My friends ordered this plate that has potatoes, onions, meat & sausage it looked good. There isn't a lot of seating inside so I would not go with more than 2-3 people. The service was quick. If your up to trying something different this would be it. Happy eating!

Really cute and delicious cafe near the Van Nuys courthouse. We stopped in for coffee and pastries. It's a small family owned place serving Bolivian pastries and small bites. The owner was super welcoming. They have a small dining area if you would like to eat there, or you can take your food to go. They had sweet options, as well as savory. It was the perfect stop for a quick bite to eat.

La comida me lleva a casa. Servicio increíble, gran ambiente. ¡Las saltenas son deliciosas! Food takes me home. Amazing service, great atmosphere. Saltenas are delicious!

Very hospitable service! I wanted just one potato ball and they accommodated me. The place is small but very clean. And they kitchen is open so you can see them cook with fresh ingredients.

I love supporting small, local businesses! No one will serve you better than a business owner and their handpicked employees. Great little café I found exactly when I needed one as I waited for my car repairs. My Latte was good. Didn't order anything else but enjoyed my break in the peaceful dining room. (Indoor & outdoor seating). Their food options look seductive. The Pique a lo Macho and Silpancho look alluring, just to name two lunch plates. Hope to come back. No complaints.

Overall I am REALLY happy I stopped by Pao's! It's a super tiny shop and the one worker I interacted with was very nice. I went with a chicken saltena, cheese empanada, and three alfajores which totaled about $14. The cheese empanada was tasty but a bit disappointing, as my photo shows - WHERE is the cheese!? You get a super thin filling on the bottom of the dough and that's about it. But the dough itself has so much flavor I was really shocked by it, in a good way. The saltena however was to die for. It was hefty and filled so much with tender chicken, veggies, and plenty of jus. The alfajores were delicious too! Soft cookies with thick dulce de leche and crispy coconut. My only wish is that they have options without being rolled in coconut as I like it more without and would also love to bring some to a co-worker who is allergic to coconut. I'll definitely be back for more regardless!

    Iced latte with whole milk

Food/drink were unacceptable Breakfast sandwich was horrible. Basically a Bimbo bread sandwich with some egg and Oscar Meyer meat with cheese that was glue like. Saleteña was a saucy and cold disaster. Iced latte was a glass of milk with coffee flavoring. Americano was coffee flavored water. 40 dollars for this and it went straight to the trash. So upset.

So they rushed to make it and boy did it suck, got the chicken Caesar wrap and the majority of the wrap was croutons, in fact the croutons were larger than any single piece of chicken inside and outnumbered them 2:1, it seemed like a joke. Honestly I should have taken my tip right back out of their jar, don't know why they ask for a tip if they don't offer any additional service besides handing a bag over. I think worst of all, the young lady at the cash register offered NOTHING to make it right.

We paid $68 for two salads and an order of fries, which felt overpriced for the quality and portions. What really stood out, however, was the customer service. I visited with my mother and my toddler son. Since my son wasn't going to eat fried food, I bought him a fruit smoothie from a neighboring business. While we were already in line paying for our order, the owner or manager approached us and informed us that outside food and drinks were not allowed because the restaurant is kosher. Although he said he would make an exception this one time, he approached us again while we were waiting outside for our food. We had chosen to sit outside because the restaurant was crowded, loud, and stuffy inside. Despite us not causing any issues, he again insisted that the smoothie could not be on the premises and began explaining that his license could be suspended due to association rules. We politely told him it wasn't a problem and decided to take our food to go. I understand businesses have policies, but the way the situation was handled felt unnecessarily confrontational, especially considering the drink was for a toddler and we had already spent nearly $70 at the restaurant. Between the mediocre food, high prices, and rude customer service, I would not return. There are plenty of better dining options in the area.

When I came, they were having like a bingo night so there were some people participating in it. I got the 8 inch Kali Mist sub and got my wife the same order. I customized my sub by asking for the avocado on the side and without pickle or onion. Mu wife sub was just with no tomatoes. The drinks options here are amazing, you have kool aid! They also have different kind of tea as well. This place also has a bar where you can get drinks. There enough seating to accommodate for most guest but I was just taking to go. They didn't take long to make my order and I had a great time chatting with the person preparing my order. He was very nice and energized with a upbeat attitude. He let me know that the sandwich was labeled so I would know which sub was which with the customization. I will recommend that if you get the Kali Mist, you should eat it while it's fresh for the best taste. The sub will fill you up because it has so much toppings in it and they give you a decent amount too. My wife loved her sub as well beside the bacon since I forgot to ask for that on the side.
