We stopped for take out lunch today. Business was brisk and customers were seated or take out orders were handled quickly by the friendly staff. Our order took about 15-20 minutes. Behind the check out counter are the slowly rotating cones of roasting gyro meat (beef and lamb.) The menu covers all the Greek comfort foods. We ordered the Gyro deluxe with feta, and the Philly Gyro, plus an order of roasted potatoes. The Gyro was loaded with tender, freshly sliced meat with the right amount of spice and flavor. The pita was fresh, soft and held up to the last bite that included diced onion, tomatoes and good quality tzatziki. The order of potatoes were a bit small, but full of flavor. Unbelievable how rude the servers are. We called in a curbside order. The girl who answered had the personality of a wet noodle. I believe she waited on us 6 months ago when we stopped in to eat a sandwich real fast after work. The food was ok. It was fast and hot. But took us over a half hour to get our check. And last weeks curbside order was a nightmare. The girl yelled at my friend when she forgot the extra sauce. Her response was "well were you charged for it? Then why are you upset?" We won't be back unless I read there's new staff. A 3 year old could have done tremendously better. And the fact she rolled her eyes at us as she was waiting on us was a prerequisite to what was going to happen. read more

I LOVE Papa Gyros, I think there food is superb and tasty. However, I would not recommend this papa gyros simply because of the poor service that I've gotten there. It's not that the service is just bad, but it's CONSISTENTLY bad. I can't remember the last time I've gone there and had my order actually be right the first time I placed it. They've either given me the completely wrong item, didn't make it the way I wanted it, didn't give me my entire order or made me wait about 40 minutes for one gyro. Don't get me wrong, the food is delicious, but I would recommend going to the one on Cleveland Avenue instead of this one. At least they'll get your order right. read more

We went here for a late lunch one Sunday afternoon. The food and service were superb. I am a huge fan of their fresh pitas and coul eat an obscene number of them. I had shrimp souvlaki, while my fiance had the lamp shank. Both were wonderful. I thought the portions were generous and very filling, and loved the tzatziki they served with our starter so much that I kept it and put it on everything else I ordered. The food was very good, but came out rather quickly which leads me to believe that it was just reheated. So the last 3 orders I have placed on DoorDash have been short items, which is odd because the orders from other restaurants I use with them arent. I called to complain and the manager took an extremely rude tone with me, cut me off in the middle of me explaining and blamed me for ordering thru Doordash. Well if it is fine with the other 5 restaurants I use Dash with... Even orders I have had in the store have been very skimpy on portion size. They charge for any extra dressing containers and cut in at least half the amount of gyro meat on their salads and platters. You lost a longtime customer today. read more

Kelly was very gracious and even gave me fresh pita with the order... the old crotchety cook who said "isn't our problem" when Kelly asked for the pita could stand a class in business management. News flash (for crotchety cook): your location is in a high traffic area--and it's the holiday season so normal commute no longer exists! Customers are the life blood of your business. Friday night, where to eat? How about Papa Gyro's, I said, and my wife and adult daughter were onboard. We were also taking the boys, ages 2 and 3 so this could go bad no matter what the food was like. This past Friday was our second time there and I was hopeful that my memory was correct about the food. It was my idea and I did not want to be responsible for a poor dining experience for the family. We had Gyros last time, and it is called Papa Gyros, so that seems a good a place to start. Finding a quality Gyro place without going to Cleveland has been an issue in the Akron/Canton area for a while now so let me say this place has it right. I ordered the Gyro platter which is a build-it-yourself concept and it transforms a sandwich into an experience. The plate comes out piled high with Gyro meat, diced tomatoes, onions, Tzatziki sauce and 2 pitas. I had them quartered the pitas, but if you don't want to rebuild after every couple bites get them whole or cut in half. They tasted great and there was so much meat left between us that I took it home and built a couple more the next day for lunch.(make sure you have them bring out extra Tzatziki so you have some for the leftovers) Speaking of the sauce, it was very flavorful creamy and so thick that you had to apply it with a knife! Next time we go I am going to order the "Saganaki".(don't ask me to pronounce it) This is Kasseri cheese, from Greece, seasoned and set afire at your table, Opa! While I never turn down cheese, I did hold back because my youngest is easily upset and I did not want to cause a scene. It was a ordered by a lot of tables around us and they seemed to enjoy it and my son did not freak-out so maybe my concerns were unwarranted. I had the pleasure of eating here during a trip home to good 'ol Jackson Township over the summer and I gotta say, this place is THE BOMB!!! Huge portions, great food, great prices and very nice staff. I got the regular gyro and there was so much meat on it I had enough for lunch the next day. Took some pastries to go since I was too full to eat them after lunch. Even my 3-year old loved it and she is a very picky eater.
