I always loved getting my pizza from Papa John's because of its naturally thick bread and crust, and of course the garlic sauce that comes with it. However, this time I ordered the extra large 2 topping pizza, half and half (grilled chicken on the whole and pineapple and mushroom split on two halves), and it honestly does not taste like the ones I've been getting before. The crust on the pizza are a bit thin this time and rest above the crust had a sweeter taste to it, I believe it might be the tomato sauce. Basically, I feel like the pizza got thinner than how it was usually before. But maybe it's because of how it's made by a specific person and place, so I will still be ordering my pizzas from here! They don't have Papa John's in Thailand so I never got to try their pizza. Only recently our friend told us that they have a promotion on Wednesdays. You can order online and use a promo code to get a large specialty pizza for only $10!! Promo code is 10WW. That's more than 50% off the regular price! There is no excuse to not try them now. Just a note, you must order online to get that special deal. They will not honor the promotion if you walk in and ask for it. I finished work and my bb called ahead to find out that we had to order online to get the deal. We did it on his phone and headed to the Kapahulu Papa John's. When we arrived, there wasn't much parking but luckily the valet moved a cone and we quickly took the stall. The location is very convenient but the parking lot isn't so good. It's shared with Wada so during the dinner rush, parking is tough. The actual Papa John's is clean and smells like pizza! They are very busy inside with workers making pizza's, cashiers ringing people up and people answering their phones. It was constantly ringing while we were there. I'm very much in the mood for pizza. Not just any pizza. Pap John's original crust The Works - extra cheese- no onion delectable pie. I order it and the set up at the door was perfect for social distancing. The new guy (hired two weeks ago - another kudos to Papa Johns for hiring during the pandemic) and he was kind and respectful to me and assisted me with the payment machine regarding tipping. I also overheard him on the phone sympathizing to the caller for something. Reviews of this Papa John's aren't stellar but we had a great experience! My kids love pizza and on Friday's it's a nice break from cooking after a long week of school and work. Usually I just grab a Sam's Club pizza deal but my kids specifically requested Papa John's because it's their favorite. I called in my order and twenty minutes later I picked up two piping hot large pizzas for $22. Since it was carry-out I didn't pay for delivery and left a small tip for the counter workers. I had forgotten to pack paper goods for our picnic and they were even nice enough to give me plates and napkins. The guys who work at this location were very pleasant from the man who took our phone order to the cashier that rung us up. This location is right next door to Wada and Kaimuki Laundromat. Lots of parking and easy to access off of Kapahulu Avenue. After picking up our pizza we went to the park as a family and enjoyed a nice pizza dinner outside with no dishes to do after. Yay! This Papa John's is likely the best one on the island because not only do they use the freshest ingredients and highest quality sauces, their friendly staff hand-tossed the dough of my pizza with incredible care and love and did a beautiful performance of it! As well, I ordered this pizza online for an in-store pickup at the counter and got it for free via the T-Mobile Tuesdays app on an Aloha Friday! ¡What? A deal! They told me it would be another 45 minutes longer because their driver was busy. I told them I'd come to pick it up. I get to the store and they had given the pizza to the driver and had to remake my order while I waited another 20 minutes. PJ's is a 20 minute drive from home and as a result I have been there in what seems years. Used to be one in Hawaii Kai and we're sorry to see it go. That said there are now pretty decent choices for 'zza in HK/Aina Haina nowadays. I found the online ordering much easier than in the past! I opted to order online and chose to pay in cash when I got to the store. Easy. This demonstrates a level of trust on their behalf and I found that refreshing. Good mid week deals online. I was disappointed that Papa John's charges a delivery fee but then communicated in the order the importance of tipping the driver as the $5 fee does not go in full to them. When I called to enquirer I learned that it goes towards their mileage. But, we all know that the drivers deliver several pies on a delivery and their mileage radius is pretty low. I'd honestly say this is more 4.5 stars. Parking was painful, there were no spots available and it's a small lot as well. I found a spot and parked in it, only to find that it was for pick up only/delivery driver space. When I realized it, their delivery car had come back and blocked me in. I offered to move but the driver said it was fine to stay, which was kind of them even though I wasn't there for pick up... As for the pizzas, we got 2 larges, a spinach alfredo and the meats. I didn't like the alfredo one at all, it needed more spinach and sauce or something.. The meats pizza was good, it wasn't overly greasy. I think we got the original crust, it was chewy and not my thing. Employees were nice, I noticed another customer had trouble finding parking but she was only there to pick up her pizza. If I could give zero stars I would. We just had a very disturbing interaction with the delivery driver from Papa John's Kapahulu. We live in the Waikiki Townhouse and the diver went to the Ala Wai Townhouse instead. When we finally figured it out that he had gone to the wrong place we saw his van parked at the wrong building. We pointed at the van and he exploded out of the vehicle and started yelling at us that it was our fault. He even ran over to our neighbor siting there and yelled at him for no reason. Never had a problem with this Papa John's location on Kapahulu ave for delivery. I usually order late night after 11-11:30p.m. and it always arrives way earlier than the time they estimate and give you verbally over the phone for delivery. Downside is that I have the Papa John's app on my phone, and use it to order from time to time (earlier than after 11:00p.m.) but the app doesn't let me qualify for the rewards program. Idk why??????? I'm sure it's the app and not the store itself. But whatever... I love the quality and service this establishment gives and I make a point to tip the drivers well. The first time I sent in an email to notify them that the pizza I had received tasted like cardboard & our breadsticks are ALWAYS burnt. They were kind enough to send us complementary pizza cards although I had not asked for anything in return. THIS time our pizza took and hour to get to us because "they had to remake it" and when we got upstairs to eat our breadsticks were burnt AS USUAL and the pizza was literally all over the top of the box. The ordering process is very quick, no-hassel. They said it'd be ready for pickup in TEN minutes! SUPer... Got there and the pizza wasn't ready yet, which is fine because it probably was only about 8 minutes since I called. So after I paid, I was just sitting in the room waiting for my pizza. Sat there patiently for about 10 minutes... I finally decided to ask how much longer my pizza would be and the guy looked around to check. I'm so glad that I did. OMG! My pizza was ready and it was just sitting there!!! WELL HELLO?! Why would you NOT be wondering why I am sitting in the room waiting? Someone should have asked me WHAT MY order was OR have already know which one since I just paid for it!!! MB I am being too harsh for being impatient but SERIOUSLY, Why else would I be sitting in that room? I am very disappointed with the service and operations. I felt there was a lack of communication between the cashier and Pizza Expeditors. PIzza. A-OK as usual. NO real complaint. In the past, back on the mainland, we've never been a huge Papa John's fan. Not because of the pizza, but because of the staff of our local store. Here in Honolulu, we've failed at every turn, trying to find our 'go to' delivery pizza due to product or staff. So, we end up making our own pizza at home. This evening we had guests in town and tried Papa John's on Kapiolani, due to convenience. I'm stoked to say, 'we found our go-to pizza place'. The pizza was really good, hot and quick. Disappointed with the service. I made an online order for a carry out pizza. FYI the online system was very easy to use. So I walked into Papa John's and was greeted politely by the guy in the front. I mentioned I was there to pick my my order and he grabs my pizzas. He asks if I need cheese and peppers and I say yes. I had ordered extra sauces and needed to ask the guy if I had them. He checks every box and they were all there. And before leaving the store I wanted to check if my pizzas were correct, because this employee didn't once read my order to me nor show me the pizzas I ordered. I wasn't about to go home and find out I had the wrong pizzas. So I asked if I could check the pizzas and as I was checking the pizzas this guy puts his head down and shakes his head. After checking the pizza he had to ring me up, and I could sense the attitude change. He softly asked a question which I could not hear, and asked him to repeat the question. And he shouts at me, "I assume you want this on the card?", while rolling his eyes. I'm all about customer service and was disappointed how this transaction ended. Had an online coupon for a free pizza so I used it for this location. They virtually have no parking so I parked across the street at Zippys (wink wink). Said I was picking it up at 5:30 online but was in the area at 5pm. The person there said she could get it ready then. So it's niice to know that my pizza was going to be made to order rather than sitting there for at least 30 minutes. Is the quality like V-Lounge? Of course not but quick, free, parking without getting caught at Zippys is the way to go. SO right now I'm a fan of the on line service.
