It's easy to order online or through the app and pickup your pizza at this location. It's pretty centrally located on Kapahulu and there's a parking lot in front with a few spaces open usually (shared with a ramen joint and a laundromat). If not enough parking, you can usually grab one in the Starbuck's parking lot on the other side and walk over. My pizzas have always been hot and ready at the pickup time indicated and the tracking on the app keeps me informed about my pizza pickup time. I've never had any problems with my pizza toppings. They prepare it as asked. I do like that this location sometimes does good promotions for carryout, like I got my pan pizza for 50% off because I chose to do carryout instead of delivery. Something has changed. I used to really enjoy coming here. Mobile app is easy to use. Problem is the experience when you go to pick up. Parking is horrible. Customer service is horrible. I had a problem and felt like they tried to say whatever they needed to say to get me to leave and they didn't follow through with verbal promises made. It wasn't always like this. Unfortunately we have experienced really bad delivery times on multiple occasions, which is sad because dominos is even worse. This is the third time: When I called, the manager said "where's the order for [address] fuck it's been ready an hour" then told me it was on the way. So it was sitting there for an hour after the app said it was as preparing. Then over an hour after the call, it still hasn't arrived. We're looking at over three hours past the original order time. Kids wanted pizza and of the commercial chain store options, I've always considered Papa John's the best for thin crust pizza. Crispy crust and toppings all the way to the edge make for a great bite every time. This location is also very convenient to home and if you know how, easy in and out from their shared parking lot. Trick is to come from the Mauka direction and enter the parking lot from the side, not off Kapahulu Ave. Always suggest calling it in or ordering online for pick up and always, and I mean always look for coupons and discounts cause pizza is stupid expensive especially knowing their actual food cost is fairly low. Three large pizzas, that weren't really that large, was around $45. Yikes. It would have been five stars if not for the price. Pizza from this location always hits the spot! I downloaded the app and placed an order for delivery. I like using the app because you can customize your pizza and even apply online coupon codes (I scored a 40% off any one pizza, say what!). The app shows estimated delivery time and they were pretty spot on, just arrived 10 minutes after estimated time. No biggie because it was around 6pm dinner rush. Even though they did mess up my order and they only had one delivery driver and it took over 2 hours I STILL give them 5stars because of how nice and helpful the driver was and also how great Richard was at making sure I was compensated for my troubles. Wednesdays are usually Pasta nights for my familia, so I needed some sort of garlic bread. I placed my order on-line after doing my shopping at the mall, that way it would be ready on my drive to this location. TIP: make sure you have the right Papa John's location once you confirm your order. Papa Johns is a familiar face in the fast pizza business. When it came to pizza, the familiarity and smell comes to mind. I happened to come across Papa Johns Pizzeria on a casual Monday while out and about in the Kapahulu district of urban Honolulu. I was like, cool, pizza! Haven't been to a Papa Johns in a long while. I basically went in and didn't have a clue what to order. I surely didn't want to get anything exotic or loaded with toppings, since price is often a factor when getting pizza with me. The name of the game was pepperoni and cheese during my most recent time here. The cheapest pizzas usually range from $7.99 to about $10.99, which in Hawaii can get you a decent sized plate lunch or a combination plate lunch from a local spot fast food eatery. I like to compare prices with value given, in terms of quantity and taste. Pizza can give you that for $10 easily and really does fill your stomach up, but its not healthy at all. Alias, comfort food, why can't you be healthy?! With that said, my time here at Papa Johns - Kapahulu was about convenience. I happened to be there and craving a slice. Might as well buy a pie to take home and share. Best bet would be to phone your order ahead or probably order one thru Papa John's app if they have one. The overall experience here at Papa John's Pizza - Kapahulu was decent and good, while being one of the top pizza chains in the nation. The desserts here are pretty good too. I usually opt for the brownies whenever I come here. The service here is casual, fast, and friendly. It helps to phone ahead your order, so you're not standing around waiting to pick up your order - like how I did. It took a good 20 minutes before my order was ready for pick up. For the most part though, it was just fine. The ambiance inside the restaurant was nice and causal. It was also clean, but don't know if they have public wifi. This location is located at 611 Kapahulu Avenue in the Kapahulu district of Kaimuki, Honolulu. Being that it is year 2020, they have social distancing protocols in place and wearing a face mask is required. They accept major credit cards, which is always a good thing. They accept cash as well, but credit cards do well in 2020 until the pandemic craze gets better. The pizza was good and delicious. Cheese and pepperoni are one of the classic tastes that just go best with soda pop or beer while watching your favorite tv show or movie. As far as parking goes, they have a private parking area for everyone who needs to park there and pick up their orders. If you are like me, best bet would be to take routes 13, or 14 to get to this part of Kapahulu and be right in front of the restaurant. Routes 1, 3, and 9 take you nearby, but you'd have to walk a block or two after getting off the bus. Papa Johns is a nice alternative to the other places that promises great pizza, but you're left wondering what could have been. Pizza is recognized universally and there's basically no way you can royally screw up pizza, as far as preparing them. Papa Johns creates delicious pizzas for any time of the day. Whether its for the big game or just Saturday night dinner with family, picking up a pie here is a good idea. I spent 20 minutes waiting for my order and knowing that I had a good sense to buy from Papa Johns made my experience much more better. Check out their dessert offerings. It may be limited, but the best would be their brownies. Pizzas can be expensive, but it serves a lot of people, depending on the size and appetite. I ordered a total of 10 large pizza's from Papa John's as a reward for my staff yesterday. I had the order split up between two different work locations, so I was a little concerned about the delivery, but the orders were right on time at both locations. The pizzas were great as usual. The only issue was with the ordering process. I tried to place the order through my mobile app, but it would not take my corporate credit card. After several attempts I ended up calling in my order... and was able to use the same card that I could not use through the mobile app. After completing my order I realized that I forgot to add a tip. I asked if I could add a tip to my card like I do when placing a mobile app order. It must have been a crazy night for them because we were automatically given $5 off a future online order for waiting but I don't think we had really waited... When we got home, we discovered that the cookies and cheese sticks were burned pretty badly. I called the place and after just a bit of talking, they offered to refund my order. Maybe this was because I had used Papa Rewards Points to buy the cheese sticks and a promo for the pizza so the order was pretty cheap, or maybe it was because of their lousy-going night, not really sure. Anyway, free three course meal, mostly, so I didn't feel justified in being upset about it beyond that. Fool me once... I'm writing this review as I'm sitting waiting for my delivery that I ordered one hour and 45 minutes ago. The pizza tracker said the pizza was going to be here in 32 minutes. I ordered at 4:12pm, so not really super busy time. I'm not exaggerating that 40% of the time this place takes more than 1.5 hours to deliver. The pizza is always ice cold. Every time I call the store the manager says they are short on drivers. This is, of course, after they've taken my money and I'm now hostage. If the app said "2hours" I'd probably have ordered somewhere else. I live .8 miles from the papa John's store on Kapahulu. Ordered delivery via online. It was fast and easy. We ordered personal cheese pizza with orange crush soda combo, and a specialty personal pizza with a Pepsi combo, and a cookie pizza. Our delivery person was super friendly and nice, she called to let us know she had another order before ours and would be coming shortly after that. Which I appreciated a lot. The pizzas were hot and the toppings were decent. The crust was fine, the sauce is the only thing I wasn't crazy about. But that's because it's a little on the sweet side, but that's my thing. My daughter thought the pizza was great. The cookie is always our favorite!!! Who doesn't like a warm chocolate chip cookie that is buttery and crunchy all at same time. Well, we do!!!!
