I am sooo sad to say this place has really descended. I last lived in SEB six years ago and I'm pretty sure I was the reason their business survived that winter. Having just moved back to the area I was so excited to live near Papas again. I've eaten there about 8 times since moving back hoping they were just having an off day. But it's official, it's not as good. The flavors just aren't what they used to be, it's become smaller and skimpy and now they're charging $3 for a tiny bag of chips. It seems like another sad case of a business trying to increase profits by cutting quality and quantity. RIP. read more

don't want to post a bad review on Yelp...however I came in today for breakfast....my farmstead burrito was lacking....what little bacon in the burrito was not edible.....raw....very disappointed....and I paid almost 10 bucks for this ! Also for the 2nd time I was not offered chips....had to ask for chips on my way out this am. Will not be back again for the breakfast burrito ...but may try something different. Recently re-opened and better than ever. The new owners have kept the all time favorites and added new soon to be favorites to the menu. They have finally re-opened...and it was worth the wait. Even better food and ambiance; I should add that they offer up a very similar menu but have stepped it up quite a bit. They are clearly hell-bent on satisfying their customers. There are plenty of guilt-free things to eat-- which is a bonus in my book. They will eventually speed things up, I'm sure...so, cut them some slack. We'll be back often-- for tacos, fresh Lagunitas beer, draft kombucha, and stuffed yams (tofu or chicken). I just had the best burrito from Papas! I got it to go, and they had very friendly take out service. Also, I noticed in the parking lot a delivery truck, so maybe they are delivering now? We had our farewell brunch at Papas Y Pollo after our wedding. It ended up pouring rain that day; the staff let us take over the entire inside of the restaurant and was incredibly nice and helpful the entire time. Maureen, who helped us plan everything, was flexible with the menu and went out of her way to get us an awesome event in under budget. We ate here twice before we booked to be sure and the food then and the day of was always super good. The back space is setup well for groups. Towards the end of our brunch the rain let up and we got to use it. I'd recommend Papas both to get a bite and a party! read more

We went there close to closing time & had to take our orders to go. No problem! The food presentation was still wonderful & food was just perfect! I ordered the salad with tofu. Tofu was cooked perfect. There must've been 1/2 an avocado on there, if not more. The sautéed veggies were on point & with home made chips, how can you go wrong? You can't! The best restaurant tips come from the oddest places! I used to frequent P&P years ago but it had fallen off my radar until a very friendly and personable young guy bagging groceries at Fircrest Market surprised me one day with a quick restaurant review. Like he's never tasted anything so good, and apropos of nothing he tells me i should try what he calls the "ham and yam" over at Papa's & Pollo and describes a sweet potato stuffed with roast smoked pork. Ham & Yam, yum. It took a while but we got take out the other night - Chicken on a Hot Tin Roof for the burrito fan in the house and the Stuffed Sweet Potato with veggies & greens & smoked pork for me -- absolutely awesome!! Really friendly owners:)! They have that hippie-upbeat surfer dude feel to them. The restaurant has lots of lighting because of the skylights, and is nicely decorated. There were two self serve salsa options- a verde and a red. Both were spicy and fresh Mmm! The hot sauce is very good too! Tastes like it may have mango in it. The water is really good, reverse osmosis. My friend got the red snapper burrito. It was big and delicious! I got a veggie burrito. Very nice. They use black beans and spanish rice, pico, avocado, spring mix Mmm! All organic too :) I added grilled veggies. All made to order. I'm impressed! My first time here I ate at the restaurant and tried the tofu baked potato, like others here, I wasn't too impressed with the bland taste (or the sense that it had been sitting for awhile...). My boyfriend liked his burrito so I gave it another try. Very happy with the grilled chicken, steak and fish burritos. We order for take out (service is a bit slow - it is fresh so I'm not knocking them for that) and are happy with our burrito pick-up. I used to go to Papas y Polo daily for take outs, and i love their staffs and the food there. Recently i just stopped going there when my cousin found hair on their burrito and he was disgusted by it. I felt bad for him because he was starving and wanted to eat his burrito. They also really need to check their food safety guidelines because there are way too many houseflies roaming around. That is one reason i didn't eat inside that place. read more

Thanksgiving around the bend....a chill in the air....we pondered what to eat....and headed to Papas (hadn't been there in years). We ordered a chicken burrito and a carne asada taco plate. The place is funky with a beach-type feel providing a perfect atmosphere before all the holiday pressure. FOOD: food was 3+ stars this evening. Fresh, local, organic. It will not taste like food from your regular taco joint. My chicken burrito came cut in half and was absolutely perfectly put together (nothing fell out or was hanging out or impossible to hold)...it was packed too. The only complaint is that is was luke-warm to cool. The taco plate was large and good. But the chips were thick and greasy and the salsas (green and red) were disappointing being too watery. SERVICE: 3+ stars--you order at the counter and pick up your meal when your name is called. Most people bus their used plates to the bins. The staff was super friendly and nice this evening. It took a little bit to get our order but it's not a chain and hey, food should be savored. ATMOSPHERE: 3 stars--like i said....beachy, funky, a few flies, cozy, casual. PRICES: nearly everything was between $8-$10, and they have a kid's section $4-$5, i think. It's not your two dollar taco truck but then neither is the food. OVERALL: 3+ stars but rounding up to 4. Papas & Pollo is a nice change of pace to the standard Mexican fare and I think it's a great little hang out for Sebastopol folks. If there's one restaurant I frequent in Sonoma County, it's Papas and Pollo! My fiancee and I absolutely love this place. Their chicken is the best, and I always recommend getting the chicken burrito or chicken nachos! The salsa bar has some spicy selections (just how I like my salsa), and the service is always quick and easy (I recommend calling it in ahead of time!). We are very happy that Papas & Pollo has re-opened! Ate there recently for the first time, and the food was beyond EXCELLENT! We had chicken burritos (one with artichokes) and they were perfect -- we love how they added greens to the burritos. Our 2 preschoolers each had a kids burrito, and they went over well. The place looks nice, clean and has that awesome, relaxed, island feel. Great experience -- good service. We are ordering take out from there tonight. Can't wait!!! read more
