Excellent sushi! The California roll and salmon and hamachi nigiri were all delicious. Service is attentive, courteous, and fast. I didn't have a problem with them being well-staffed. If worried about feeling rushed, just order the dishes one at a time. Even though it came out quickly (and there were only a few other tables with customers at the start of Happy Hour) the sushi was high quality. They have several Happy Hour specials. They did a good job wiping the table off between courses. Let's face it, soy sauce tends to drip all over the place when one is eating a roll or nigiri. If you are a local, don't forget to ask for the 20% discount on (other than Happy Hour) food and drinks. It's not advertised and even my server didn't know about it and had to ask the manager. I'm going to be honest. I can't remember who gave me the card info for this place. I've tried their signature drink, Cucuzaki and foods, Rainbow Roll and Ichiban Sando. I ate at the bar so I can't say how table service was but bar service was great and I'm sure table service is as well. The atmosphere is very lively, nice decor and upbeat music, not too loud. Living in Miami Beach for 12 years, I do not like dining on Española Way b/c all the places I've been to attack your try to sell you what you don't want, attack your pockets and assume you're a stupid tourist. Came here for HH on a Friday. They have a good selection of drinks and sushi rolls for $7. Service was fast and attentive. I finished off the service with the Wahakan Old Fashioned. It had dry ice and came in a treasure chest. Great presentation for a $15 drink. A nice place to visit for a late lunch. read more

Fantastic sushi for a reasonable price. I like the South Beach location even better than the Brickell location. The baby corn was phenomenal. The spicy tuna roll is one of the best I have ever had -- simple, yet flavorful. I also recommend the Paper Tuna roll. The restaurant does include a service charge automatically. read more

Came upon Paperfish while walking through Espanola Way. The decor and ambiance drew us in. It's taking Espanola to another level! I was visiting during Art Basel, and was with a group of artists, that had finished their show. We were all famished and decided to try it out. WOW were we impressed! Our server Julieann, was very personable and a true professional. She was great with making recommendations and answering all our questions. One suggestion was the Wasabi Martini. I never had one and I loved it. Another I can't stop raving about is the Ishiyaki Del Mar. The combined flavors were out of this world. The Acevichado was the best sushi, I've had in a long time. This place was great! We were at the beach for fireworks for 4th of July and looking for a last-minute spot to eat. This was available for a 10pm rezo and a short walk from the beach. I didn't have high expectations -- thought it would be an overpriced touristy spot. But the food was legit! Miso cod appetizer and the signature paper fish roll were delish! Had to order a second cod appetizer because the kids finished the first one and I only got a bite! And my son got salmon sashimi -- he said it was so soft, much fresher than what he gets back home in CA! Located on cute street lined with restaurants called Espanola Way. Great location, great ambiance, good food, good service from the server... but host forgot to tell the server we were sat. So we sat there for 25 minutes before the server came to us to give us waters. I totally understand, I've done it before too. This place was really great except for the fact that they left the door open the whole time we were dining there. Which would normally be fine, but not in the middle of summer in Miami. I was practically stuck to the seat in sweat. The server was great and kept refilling our waters after we paid because we were catching up with friends. 8/10 would recommend. This place has a beautiful ambiance. The service was good. I ordered the Hamachi Jalepeno Roll, Miso Black Cod, and the Tsujuku bento box. Presentation for all dishes were beautiful and elegant. Tsujuku Bento: 7/10 - Came with miso soup (6/10), seaweed salad (8/10), salmon sashimi (7/10), spicy tuna roll (7/10), and sushi rice(5/10). - as a California native, the quality was roughly the same as California. - the sushi rice was a little underdone and hard. - otherwise not bad Hamachi Jalapeño Roll: 5/10 - this roll looked delicious. - the hamachi inside the roll was fishy and the mayonnaise sauce on top was too overpowering. It had too strong of a taste of Kewpie Mayo which was off putting on the palate. Miso Black Cod: 8/10 Flavor and cook was perfect. Only thing I had to say about this dish is it was slightly watery for some reason. But overall very good dish. read more

Quality of fish was INCREDIBLE!!! They assemble the nigiri with so much care and consideration (and they use tiny tweezers!) Milena was an incredible hostess and I felt so much at home at the sushi bar. I highly recommend the signature nigiri- my favorite was the Hamachi Yuzu, but the Salmon Aburi was so inventive that it's certainly high on my list of 'best sushi.' We had our last dinner in Miami at Paperfish, for ambiance the music was pretty loud both inside and outside but we asked to move outside as the street ambience was nicer and asked the server to lower the music which she did to a comfortable level. The family ordered sushi which was amazing, I went off piste ordering the Wagyu bao buns which where sooo tasty, and the wagyu steak and lobster special which to be honest looked amazing but was a little disappointing, especially when no crackers or lobster picks are available at the restaurant, so I had to send the claw back to be cracked properly which they did, but that's a first ordering lobster and no tools are provided to extract every morsel. Overall we had a good evening, with hindsight I should have ordered the short rib or seabass entree instead or gone for sushi, but try the bao buns as you won't be disappointed read more

I ordered an 8-piece nigiri sampler (chef's choice) and enjoyed 3 out of the 4 varieties I was given-- the only one that I wish I could have skipped would have been the ebu/shrimp nigiri. It was a pretty fishy and the textured was oddly tough/dry, almost as though it had been sitting out for a while. Im only giving this place 2 stars, one for drinks and one for the atmosphere. Service wasn't great at all. We were told by our server that everything will be served in the center of the table because it meant to be shared like a family style, but omg i have never seen how small these plates were, like extra small and very very pricey. We paid $26 for shrimp fried rice that was burned and not even big enough for one person and we also, got the ceviche that was so disgusting with 4-5 pieces of fish. This was an early Friday evening and I know the place could've been busy, but there were so many empty tables. We were celebrating my daughter's 15th birthday and there was a very pretty table for five underneath an imitation cherry blossom tree with lanterns. When we asked the hostess if we could sit there, she said there was a reservation which no one ended up coming to for over 40 minutes and when they did come, it was a couple that didn't seem to enjoy the table at all. The food was already way overpriced and the server didn't seem to put much into customer service but on top of it, they automatically add 20% service fee. The only person that seem to be pleasant at all was a very nice young lady in the food runner role. She brought us all of our food and gave us such nice smiles. This would've been a one star if it weren't for the food runner. The ambience was not very nice. Even though it was empty, it was still very loud and not in a good way. We ate at the sushi bar and Eric the bartender was really on the ball as were the very busy and fun to watch sushi chefs -- These guys are so meticulous and you can see the care and detail with which they prepare everyone's food...
