I really enjoyed the Spicy Vodka pasta--it wasn't super spicy, but had a nice little kick, and the rigatoni was cooked perfectly al dente. It's because the pasta is made fresh in the back, they have a good wide selection too choose from, and it's very affordable on average $15. The food was ok. I had the spicy rigatoni and asked for it to be made without the hot pepper. I wasn't expecting much so the taste was average for me. Obviously this is not Carbone level spicy rigatoni. But it gets the job done for a quick lunch in the area. Their website isn't updated and lists the pastas at $12. In person, the spicy rigatoni was $16.99 plus tax. For the taste, I don't think it's worth almost $20. You can have better pasta in a restaurant for $20 and up. I'd go back to try something else. Decent stop for a slice! In the city, where you don't want to have a throw away meal, Papi's is a good choice. They have a large list of different variations of pizza including deep dish with a whole burrata on top with spicy honey, to the run of the mill NY style pizza. Can't even give this restaurant a one star but had to, to add this review. First and last visit. Ordered a cheese slice and upon first bite realized crust was completely charred and inedible. The fresh pasta hanging in the window drew me in. I tried the fettuccine bolognese and it was delicious! The pasta and bolognese tasted homemade. The fettuccine had a good bite to it. The bowl of pasta for $15 is very reasonably priced. I wished I would have tried the pizza and some of the other pasta dishes. The staff was friendly. The restaurant was clean, well lit and has ample seating. Will definitely visit this place again whenever I'm back in NYC. read more

Eh, went again a few months later and I can definitely say ownership has changed hands since my last visit in March. What once was a bright, modern, inviting storepost now has dim, tacky lighting and icky plastic tablecloth. Prices have changed considerably (by a few dollars for slices and entrees) as well. Service was slow, though not at the fault of the servers, people were confused with ordering and the drink refrigerator is past the cash register so people take forever not only deciding on what to order, but what to drink as well. The layout of the store is terrible, they built this countertop near the register that blocks all the foot traffic in - when there's long lines, people are bumping into each other left and right: the people ordering, waiting for their food, standing in line, and getting their drinks near the drink fridge - everyone is in everyone's way and it makes things chaotic and less efficient. I'd gladly walk around the corner to the next pizza place just to avoid this kind of chaos...The food is the same quality as before, but now not worth the price, it's just trying to justify the price markup with tacky lighting, terrible decor and adding a cheese wheel... read more
