If it's raining they will have an umbrella for each guest in the vehicle and walk you into the restaurant. our waiter was really great. Plus they have helpers that assist the waiter so you're never wanting or waiting for anything. Definitely an experience even if you are on a budget I would strongly still suggest treating yourself for special occasions. there is like an hour and 45 minute dining time I assume they're very strict on that on very busy days. There is also a dress code that you must adhere to. You also must pay a deposit to hold your reservation and if you cancel within four hours you may be charged $50 per person. I am not from Miami, and was actually taken out to eat at this place by a friend. They rave about their meats, and their cuts, and have a special farm they get their beef from, but if it is not cooked well it doesn't really matter. I have never been to this fancy of a steakhouse before and not had the waiter ask what temperate I want my meat. I asked for Rare, 123 degrees, and I got a look like I was crazy. Then when the meat came out, it was what most would consider medium. In my photos you will see a "first try" photo and a "second try" photo. Now I will give my waiter credit, he saw my face, and probably saw the color and knew they messed up, sos did give me the chance to send it back, which again is great, but truly unacceptable for a steak house of this kind of hype in a city like Miami. The old fashioned I got was good, not great, but above average, The tartare was average, nothing special to write home about, and the homemade bacon again was good, but not truly noteworthy. My boyfriend asked the host about 4 times when our table would be ready and every time he got told "when the table your sitting at finishes their dessert" "you'll be seated in 10 minutes" etc. We did get a round of shots and an appetizer on the house which was a nice gesture but ultimately had to cancel the steak we ordered because we did have plans to see friends that we came to visit and needed to rush out since we were then an hour behind. When we first arrived the hostess was a little rude. My boyfriend had on khaki pants, but he looked cute and wasn't dressed raggedy. Hmmm so my friend selected this restaurant and i mean i guess!! I'm a real foodie so for me it's was just ok! The best part is when you purchase the 1000 dollar steak and they do a big cheer for you because you wasted your money for Just this little Dance and shouting their going to do lol. But i had the king crab stuffed lobster and i had to send it back. It was soooo salty but they didn't give me a hard way to go. My friend also had it and said hers was salty as well so i opted for the 8 oz. filet which was prepared to perfection. The sear was crisp and the center was pink just like i like it. We also had the hamachi crudo which i loved but it is an acquired taste trust me. Two of us loved it the other two hated it. We had mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese which were mediocre but i hated the Brussel sprouts we paid for them but nobody took them to eat later. We also had sea bass which was very light and the purée was delicious. The jumbo shrimp were huge and they taste so fresh i loved them. The cocktail list was nice but it was nothing you haven't seen before tho i would say. The cellular service is trash in this place (hence) I'm making my review the next day... as far as the ambiance i love wall paper so i loved the dark background with floral designs. Seating could be a little but more spacious if they remove about 3-5 tables but they ain't gonna lose that money. I think coming here with low expectations made me really enjoy it!! Great pregame spot that will hype up your night right from dinner and kick off the good vibes. The drinks were really good and surprisingly the food was too! We did pay $1000 for the briefcase show which had the wagyu tomahawk. The show was so much fun but I wouldn't pay for it again. 3.5 Stars is exactly what I would rate Papi Steak. Let's start with the Pros: Lively and beautiful interior atmosphere: I absolutely loved the floral wallpaper, velvet and wooden accents! Music selection 10/10. A mixture of big room house, top hits, and old school singalongs. Great vibe. Wait staff are all very attentive. Plates were replaced immediately in between dishes and water was constantly refilled. Our waitress was amazing too! Food: *Hamachi crudo - worth trying, fresh and savory. *Wagyu carpaccio topped with truffle aioli - chef's kiss. This was my favorite. Papi steak Tomahawk - nice cut, cooked more on the medium-rare side and presentation looked great, but it was served a tad cold for my liking. I would've preferred it to come out hot. We chose to accompany with mac and cheese, bacon topped brussels sprouts and truffle corn. The truffle corn is worth trying! Strawberry cheesecake topped with edible 24k flakes - YES. Phenomenal texture of the cheesecake and who doesn't love edible gold?! Now for the Cons: We arrived excited and ready to eat for our 9:30 reservation. However, we were told our table wasn't ready - fine no problem. We headed over to the packed bar to get drinks and right when we got our drinks we told we'd have to sit in the waiting area behind the bar, not fun at all. We weren't seated at our table until 11 pm. An hour and half later. The whole time we felt as though we were trapped behind the bar, in a hallway and missing out on all the fun in the dining room - the back of the bar is caged. Honestly, with that wait - there is no point in even having a reservation. Drinks are overpriced for the way they taste. I ordered a dirty gin martini - too much salt, not enough olive, would be nice if the olives were stuffed with goat cheese. I also had an espresso martini - too watered down, missing the coffee liqueur to make it rich, creamy and indulgent. David Einhorn walks around but he's selective with which tables he greets. If you are making your presence known, as a restaurant owner you should casually say hello to all your patrons, even if its just eye contact and a head nod of acknowledgment. That's what David Grutman does every time. It adds a personal touch of hospitality. Here's the kicker. Once our expensive bill was paid we were asked to leave immediately. This made for an awkward ending. Next time, I'll take longer eating... Overall: a few minor details stopping this from being a 4-5 star establishment, but I liked the spot. I went to Papi Steak last weekend for a friend's birthday dinner. Knowing this was a Dave Grumman restaurant, I was expecting a fun party vibe, but not necessary the best meal I'd ever eaten. As it turns out, although the atmosphere was exactly what I'd expected, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food. We arrived a few minutes early for our 8 PM reservation and were seated immediately, which I was surprised by since I expected we'd be sent straight to the bar until our table was ready. Once we sat down, the birthday girl and I each ordered a KOKO CHANEL (mine with vodka instead of gin). The drink was delicious and refreshing. The rest of the group didn't drink and we didn't order appetizers, but I did get to try the FILET MIGNON w/ truffle butter, WHIPPED POTATO, MAC & CHEESE, and the TRUFFLE CORN. Unfortunately, no one opted for dessert, despite my attempt to surprise the birthday girl with the requisite birthday candle. My filet was flavorful and perfectly done, the potatoes and the mac & cheese were very good, the truffle corn was excellent. The service at Papi Steak was also excellent, which was also a pleasant surprise. Along with our meal, the birthday girl and I each had a glass of red wine. That leads to my criticisms of this place...first of all, the mark-up on the wine prices is INSANE. I've never seen anything like it. I'm not a "I'm just having one glass of wine" type of person, I've never not ordered a bottle. But the prices on the bottles were so exorbitant that it actually made more sense to order by the glass. The whole thing was mind-blowing. My other criticism of the restaurant is that the music is SO VERY LOUD! I couldn't believe how loud it was. We couldn't hear the people sitting across the table, let alone the person sitting next to us. I really think that they should lower the volume for dinner and maybe raise it closer to 10 or 11 PM. The volume of the music made for an unpleasant experience. Had it been more pleasant, I think we would have stayed longer and had more to drink. Lost our initial reservation in July and had to go through the hassle of getting another reservation. We had a reservation at 10 pm and we were not seated until 10:40! Another group before us waited Even longer! Despite long wait, ambience was phenomenal: bodyguard at the front, subtle-lit space, rhythmic pop music and remixes, strobe lights, comfortable seating and decor. Jane was our server and she was very attentive and made sure our requests were followed especially when they were about to present the exclusive Japanese Wagyu Tomahawk. The energy was lively. Only complaint was that seating was slow despite a reservation, food didn't arrive until midnight. The cocktail drinks were exquisite, the steak tartare was soft and the black truffle accentuated the flavor (the bread served with it was a little tough but otherwise delicious ), Japanese wagyu tomahawk ("secret menu item") was good but not great. the sauces complimented the meat (favorite was the truffle butter). I asked Jane if the tomahawk was A5 wagyu since it was $1,000 but she said she couldn't say. TBH, we did the secret menu for the show otherwise, I've had better steak. I don't like that you don't have any option on how you like the tomahawk to be cooked. They only do MEDIUM!! sautéed mushrooms were perfectly seasoned, and the mac n cheese was divine. For dessert we got the layered chocolate cake, which was moist, not overly sweet, and had crunchy-gold pieces around the edges. Thee best chocolate cake ever!!! And I don't like cake or chocolate!! Though at times the music was a little too loud, was crowded, and was a long wait to be seated/served food, the attention to detail, Jane our waiter, and the tantalizing food overshadowed the shortcomings. My husband and I had never been to Papi Steak before today (September 4th) but after our dining experience, we are happy to place it on our rotation. The atmosphere is very inviting and quite sultry. For dinner, my husband had the wagyu carpaccio and I had the hamachi crudo as starters, and they were very super flavorful and beautifully plated. The staff was very attentive, easy to speak to, and made us feel very comfortable. The churrasco was the highlight of dinner as it was cooked to perfection and seemingly melted in our mouths. Visited this past weekend. Ordered from the regular menu not the miami spice menu. Overall for the amount you're spending it's not worth it. Here's my reasons why: Pros: - Most of the staff was nice and knowledgeable. - The sides: truffled corn, mushrooms, lobster Mac and cheese were delicious. The whipped potatoes were good but nothing out of the ordinary. Overall the sides were great. - Wagyu pastrami was very good. $88 for 10 slices - Crème brûlée was creamy and very well made. Cons: - The waiting area had a bit of smell of garbage. Others smelled it too. - They sat us in table too small, max 4-5 people can fit and they sat 6 of us there. Both people at the end had half a leg sticking out - I ordered the 8oz filet mignon, medium it was overcooked, dry and I received it cold.
