Vette H.

I am sitting outside after being offered a slice of free pizza from the owners/managers of this new pizza place on Main Street in Santa Monica. I say new because it's now under new ownership as of one week ago today. There is Fabrizio from Sicily and the owner is from Calabria. So don't judge this place on any other reviews besides the ones from a week ago onward, unless it's a great review...lol. It's a fun and classic environment with colorful flowers, wooden tables and chairs, comfortable despite no cushions. The signage is to the left of the place so don't get freaked out if you can't see it, just look for the address above the door. They serve breakfast and start with pizza around 11am to close. So, you know I'm a pizza addict and have to control myself. The slice of Calabrian salami was cold and delicious! Now, you know a pizza is good when you would eat the entire pie cold and I could have if I wasn't full already. I was actually looking for a place for a nice drink after walking 4 miles with Wallace and when I asked if they served alcohol, I was offered an aperol spritz. It was the best freaking aperol spritz I have had in my life and I have had a lot from different Italian restaurants. I think this one is the real deal people. No bougie attitudes, no crazy fluff, just really great food and well made drinks with polite and friendly service. Fabrizio was so nice and polite. We talked about the ocean being healing, the food differences in Italy and here and just life overall. It wasn't a long conversation because he was still very attentive to new customers and those eating there, but it was poignant and appreciated. He also explained why I can eat real Italian pasta and pizza even though I'm gluten intolerant. You have to go to ask him personally. ;) I will come back next weekend when Wallace and I are finished with our workout to try the pizza fresh made, then I also want to try out their bolognese. I will also bring and recommend this place to my friends and co-workers who are always looking for a good Italian place without all the crazy pretense and great food. I am so glad I walked down Main Street today cuz normally, we just leave after working out. I wish I could take a bottle of the aperol spritz home with me...lol. They should sell small containers for folks. Try it out and let me know what you think. Quick update, as I was finishing this, I got more slices, cheese and margarita, and another aperol spritz, yummy!!! I mean, this might end up being my new pizza spot on a weekly. I know the promotion will be over next week, but it will be my birthday month, so I'll be treating myself extra well. Love it!

Alumni lunch

I was here for a private luncheon for my college alumni association. This establishment had a coffee shop / restaurant in the front. But, if you go outside, through the for-fee (not free) parking lot, and walk to the very back of the building, you'll be behind the kitchen in an entirely separate private dining room with a great ambience and capacity to seat around 25-30 folks. We were packed and it felt cozy, but it was wonderful for our party. The alumni association had prepaid / arranged for a set menu, which made things so much simpler. The food was actually very good. My salad was good. For my vegetarian entree I had avocado toast (no egg). Desserts were an assortment of cookies and brownies and such, which added to the holiday spirit. I had an amazing time. Would go back.

Papille makes delicious and nutritious home-made food with produce from the Santa Monica Farmer's Market. Service is super friendly too. Plenty of seating indoor and outdoors. Highly recommend!

French cafe with a health-conscious flair. Came here for brunch with some friends and shared a French toast and an omelette with one. We sat outside and our waitress was really chill about letting us hang out while waiting for a late friend. They have a wide variety of smoothies, matches, and coffees. I was quite intrigued by the smoothie with a duck egg but that'll have to be for another time. There is one single occupant restroom available inside. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Metered street parking is available.

Don't be fooled by the name of the restaurant which has been there at that location for many years. This place was taken over about 2-3 minths ago. The Chef is from Campanile, Mgr from Puglia. Great Neopolitan pizza is sooo good w just the right amount of chew. OMG the best we have had since Italy. Bringing us back to Sienna. Vitello tonnato so great! We have not had it that good since Piedmonte. I would go back from just this and the Caesar alone, with large flakes of fresh shaved Parmesan (umami from the first bite). They made us fresh Zepoles (fried dough later we tasted it without the nutella which was better, but no photo). This place is a diamond in the rough. $30 corkage, wonderful service. Unbelievable!!

I'm not exaggerating when I say this was one of my favorite brunches of all time! My husband and I were out on a walk while visiting the area and decided to eat here, and I'm so glad we did. We got a nice table on the patio outside and started with a few mimosas - hit the spot with fresh squeezed orange juice. The food was all so fragrant and delicious, made with the freshest organic ingredients. My veggie goat cheese tartine was a 10/10 and my husband loved his waffle just as much. The staff were also very friendly and inviting, I'm pretty sure the owner sat us at our table. We will definitely be back next time we make it to the area!

Farm yogurt parfait: keifir yoghurt, granola, market fruit, pistachio crumbs, pistachgio curd, bee pollen, buckwheat honey & tumeric latte

Love the euro vibe and outdoor cafe feel to a brunch here- everything seems very farm-to-table and you can leave here feeling satiated yet healthy/good about your day I had the Farm yogurt parfait kiefer and fruit, (you won't taste much of the pollen, honey or curd mentioned in the description but it's still good, just less special than it sounds) a croissant and the turmeric latte Staff are friendly yet aloof (euro vibes ) But quite efficient Great location to kick off your weekend

Restaurant after BUSY dinner service

Papille Gustative -- seriously, go here This place is a gem. Warm, cozy vibe, great wine, and the food is just on point. We started with the bruschetta and it was way better than I expected -- not the basic kind. The bread had the perfect crunch, and the toppings were bright, flavorful, and honestly hard to stop eating. The risotto al funghi was ridiculous (in the best way). Super creamy, loaded with mushrooms, and the truffle actually comes through. Comfort food that still feels elevated. And the margherita pizza... AMAZING. Thin crust, great char, fresh basil, balanced sauce/cheese -- just done right. But the surprise hit was the salmon. Cooked perfectly with a great sear, tender inside, and it came with this rich, savory sauce that tied everything together. One of those dishes where you take a bite and immediately stop talking. If you want a place that feels intimate, serves real-deal Italian, and clearly cares about what's coming out of the kitchen -- this is it. I'm coming back.

I had always passed by this spot on Main Street in Santa Monica and finally, I decided to try it! The decor is very nice and plenty of seating outdoors and inside. I ordered the Brunch Plate and a delicious tea. I loved both! The next time I went, I got the truffle coffee, which was divine, and a trio of toasts that were delicious and super filling! The service was excellent and the servers always had great recommendations. Parking is either on the streets or in the lots along Main Street.

A dog walking by wanting to get a piece of my bread. It has good food when it sees it.

The food is absolutely delicious. It's organic well put together. I enjoyed every bit of it. I had the avocado and egg plate with this amazing toast. The service is unbelievable, but the owner Caylan made a table for me just under the tree and my little dog Marley. The vibe here is so cool plants music definitely wanna come back. The food is amazing.

Danish Rye Toast Danish Rye Bar
Maya A.

This place is just ok. My coffee was good, but the food wasn't great--especially for the price. I got the rye board trio and it just didn't hit the spot in terms of complex flavors. It was overwhelmingly salty without a lot of other aspects. It was absolutely gorgeous aesthetically, but that wasn't enough. The service was friendly and its pleasant to sit there, but I don't think I'll be returning.

Came here on a Saturday afternoon and even without a reservation, they were able to seat us right away. Definitely 5 stars for service and not being rude, but friendly and attentive even at a busy time (World Cup was on tv!). I heard alllll about the happy hour specials so I was stoked when we were able to get the best outdoor seating and the happy hour was going on until 7pm he said. So naturally, ordered a bunch of things to try. Unfortunately, that was a solid 3 stars for me. It was just fine. I was actually bummed because I was so excited to try the menu items. They were okay. Ordered sliders (kinda dry and without flavor), Parmesan fries (seasoning was there but not very flavorful and the sauce was bland, the krab rangoons resembled egg rolls (that was new!) and fish tacos were meh. My friend ordered the chicken and it came with fries (the dish not happy hour selection) and that looks more substantial but maybe not worth $32. The drink was sweet (pink lady). Outdoor vibes were cool and def a great spot at the end of 3rd street but probably wouldn't come here for the food. Again, indoor (big tv!!) and outdoor set up was awesome, but food is just okay. Great for large groups but make a reservation!

Timing really matters here. It is best to come during off hours if you want any chance of getting a lounge chair to set your belongings down or take a break. When it is busy, seating is very limited and can get crowded quickly. The pool itself is not ideal for young children or anyone expecting a gradual entry. There is no graded or zero-depth entrance. Instead, you enter via a ladder directly into about four feet of water, with a rope separating this area from the deeper section. This setup may be fine for confident swimmers, but it felt less family-friendly than anticipated. Conversely, if you are looking to swim laps, this is not a lap pool. It is purely recreational. The changing and bathroom area is very open, and the showers offer no privacy. The shower water was also quite cold, which was not especially comfortable, particularly for kids. If you are expecting enclosed changing rooms or warm showers, this may be disappointing. Parking is public street parking only, paid at meters, which adds another layer of planning and cost. Overall, while the beach house is in a beautiful spot and can be enjoyable under the right circumstances, the lack of amenities, limited seating, and less-than-ideal pool and changing facilities make it hard to fully relax or recommend, especially for families with young children.

There are games galore to play in the backyard like ping pong. Of course, in the meantime, the Hollister brand is being pimped big time, along with Abercrombie & Fitch--a Hollister corporate partner. But being close enough to the beautiful Santa Monica beach to hear the ocean cannot hurt the "Cali branding" and seems to help equate Hollister with cool , fashionable kids and happy memories of fun in the summertime. I went online to see if there were any free tickets left for a teen wanting to visit the Beach House for a show and darn it--they were all sold out and wait listing. Hollister hopefuls must be at least 14 years old and reside in the greater Los Angeles, CA. area to apply. Parental consent is required for anyone under 18 to attend performances. Photograph submissions with applications of you dressing in your best 'So Cal style' will decide whether you are emailed an eticket or not. Though the Hollister House is clearly a shill for Hollister clothing, I can't help but at least give it 4 YELP STARS for making a fun place for tweens & teens to enjoy the action.

My husband, toddler, and 5 months old stayed here for 3 nights on Memorial Day weekend…read more We had a great time from the moment we walked in: - the hotel is beautiful and location is everything - the staff is very nice, tries to call you by name to make you feel special, and everything screams quiet luxury - the room was very nice, well decorated and comfortable. The tub is the highlight. One comment would be that when we checked in with Anthony, who was so sweet to our toddler, also kept telling us we were getting upgraded to a very nice room. We got all excited. It was a normal room. The "very nice upgrade" just meant that we were on floor 5. I barely call that an upgrade but ok. - we asked for a crib, and we go a nice crib with a cute little baby soap kit from noodle and boo- very nice touch. And baby robes for the kids- my toddler loved it. My toddler was on a rollaway bed and they were super accommodating about it- great experience on that front. - balconies are tiny and I never saw anyone out when I sat out - pool staff was super nice. It was a chilly weekend and the pool could have been warmer (I couldn't get in, but I really don't like cold water). - the beach chairs are also very nice and we were surprised to find them available - they were extremely pleasant about our friends visiting us every day! - the lobby waiter during the day was almost inexistant. We had to go to the bar to ask for drinks. The woman at night was great. Now for the food...: - coast has a great breakfast, the lemon ricotta pancakes are excellent (though stupid expensive for pancakes) - pico is a good spot for shrimp cocktail and calamari. Hasn't seen shrimps that big in a long time. - overall the food was good everywhere but way overpriced.... The kids menu are ridiculous... hard to justify spending $28 on kids pancakes. That being said, the portions were the same as adult portions... maybe make the portions smaller, and price more accessible? Overall we had a great stay, and while on the expensive side, we agreed we would come back. Nicely done!

It's a 2 story house that has been turned into this bar & nightclub. They have a dj as well. Several rooms and patio seating as also. The crowd varied in age. I even met another mother who was there with her daughter. So when I say it's an all ages establishment I mean it. The bar staff was nice and there were multiple bars to service the patrons. I don't think the bars were ever over crowded. The djs and music was solid. Variety of hip hop and pop and edm music was played. Plenty of room to dance. The one issue we ran into was security. Minutes before closing my daughter's boyfriend approached her on the dance floor. A drunk and over zealous young lady attacked him. She pushed him with 2 hands in his chest and screamed at him to leave my daughter alone. Moments later security approached HIM and asked him to leave? When I interjected and tried to explain the misunderstanding security told me they didn't care. That's when I told this kid I was old enough to be his dad and this is my daughter's boyfriend. I explained to him the female should be kicked out not him. He did nothing wrong. But we would not cause any problems and would just leave anyways. The way security handled the situation was diabolical. Their job is to protect the patrons and listen to them when there is an issue. Not ignore than and not care to find out what the truth of the matter is. For this I have to 1 star this establishment.
