My bf got the crawfish trip, it was also really good, but a lot of crawfish, obviously! Showed up around 11:30 AM. I've been taking my mom around to run some errands. She was craving this place since before my dad died. Very professional host who look like he belonged down at Vernon's. Spectacular waitress, Melanie. Made some great recommendations. Even though she got a little busy with the lunch hour, the food came out great, their coffee is delicious, awesome Arnold Palmer, and I hadn't had the new garlic bread as an appetizer yet so this was quite good. He clear as day irritated with me as if I didn't have a point He then placed our napkins/silverware on said dirty table, we went back to the front to get more silverware. He then proceeded to tell me they were short on silverware and "what I had is what I got." We (my sister-in-law, dh, and I) started by splitting the Pappas Greek salad, a nice mix of lettuce, veggies, olives, and shrimp with a Greek vinaigrette. It was crunchy, crispy, and a good start to our meal. I had the Texas Redfish Pontchartrain - perfectly cooked fish with grilled shrimp, topped with crab and a delicious brown butter and white wine sauce with dirty rice on the side. My husband had the seafood tagliatelle pasta, which had a generous amount of mixed seafood and a creamy sauce. My sister-in-law had the Atlantic halibut and shrimp in a white wine herb butter sauce, with some tasty-looking crispy brussels sprouts and hazelnuts. We all enjoyed our meals and had leftovers to take home. Given that the entrees are pretty expensive, it was nice to get two meals out of my entree. Prices are a little lower at lunch, so that might be a nice time to visit if you're on a tight budget. Our server, Roger, was attentive and personable without hovering and took good care of us. Shrimps were large and portions were large as well. I had to choose an appetizer as my meal because I don't eat a lot in one sitting. Regrettably, had one of my worst dining experiences in a long time today at the local Pappadeux. Although the ambience of the restaurant is phenomenal, the food and service were both very disappointing. Our Calimari came out so over-salted that we had to take breaks from eating it to get through the dish. Mains did not come out substantially better. After eating the grilled shrimp which came out on top of our pasta, the primary flavor left in our mouths was again, salt. My partner and I were left feeling so unwell from all the salt in this meal that we ended up making a special trip to Target to buy a 64oz naked juice. We drank half of it in the car between us before leaving. Basic table service was also fraught with confused difficulty. We were routinely asked the same questions by more than one person. For example, the waiter and the greeter both asked us if it was a special occasion (hint: it was not). The server filled our water glasses so completely with ice that I could not get to the bottom of the glass without, quite literally, sticking my nose into the ice to the point that my nose became cold while drinking. None of the waiters seemed to notice, and water refills were hard to come by. The servers seemed rather oblivious to the fact that neither of us had any desire to finish the two mains we ordered and left nearly a whole blackened catfish fillet on the plate on our way out. At a well-run restaurant, this is the kind of situation that would, by its very existence, summon a manager. Unfortunately the staff appeared to be largely phoning it in. While waiting for our check, we observed quite a few waitstaff chatting happily away while ignoring the customers. It's quite rare that I experience this level of difficulty with both the kitchen and the service, especially when the waitstaff are not overloaded, and even more rare that when we're obviously not enjoying a meal, no manager intervenes. I doubt we'll be back any time soon. read more

First and foremost Kara and Nathalie were so sweet. Great bartenders with excellent service and personable. I'd come back just for them. The food was so so so good. My first time here and oh my I enjoyed everything from the bread, the drinks to the food. When first walking in, I bypassed the hostage since I wanted to sit at the bar. The place was clean especially the bathroom... which is very important to me. I had the crab and spinach dip, which was delicious... better than I expected. We have stayed away from Pappadeaux for the last few years. We had bad service and mediocre food in the past. We gave them another chance. The food was very good, flavorful and interesting. My only criticism is the food was warm but not hot. My husband likes his food hot. Hubby started with the seafood gumbo and it was delicious, just not very hot. My daughter and I had the crab spinach dip. Again it was delicious with garlic and a hint of lemon but not very hot. My daughter had the salmon Alexander. It was very flavorful. The crawfish and shrimp were very good and the scallops melted in her mouth. Again it wasn't very hot. My hubby ordered the tilefish only to find they were out. It's new on the menu and they were out since yesterday. He ordered the grouped with spicy honey carrots. The grouper was great and the carrots were delicious. They had a bit of spice , just enough. I had the redfish ponchetrain. It was very good as well with a side of spinach. I loved the spinach with garlic and onions. Again delicious but not very hot. Our server Marc was excellent. The lunch stuffed crab combo with potato substitute was pretty good and the potatoe was enormous! This dish is consistently good every time we visit this Pappadeaux. The dozen oysters were a 2.5 out of 5 stars because they lacked flavor and were not very big. The biggest problem was that the jumbo lobster bisque was never delivered. We made a big production when we ordered the lobster bisque because it has not been available for a while. Though it was not on the menu the waiter confirmed that we could order the lobster bisque once more. When it arrived it didn't taste like lobster bisque. At first, we just figured they were getting up to speed. But, after a couple of minutes it was evident that there was no lobster but only crawfish. The bill also said crawfish bisque and the waiter apologized for getting it wrong. So, I don't know if lobster bisque is back on the menu or not. One can only hope. read more

The reason they get 4 stars is simply due to Service and Crab cakes. If i were to review the menue items etc....this would honestly be closer to 2 or 3 stars for me. That said, the service is always wonderful, and from now on I'll be ordering crab cakes for my entree! The crab cakes are wonderful if you haven't figured this out yet! Everything else I've ever gotten here has been meh, and overpriced meh! I think my favorite entree has been the catfish fillets but at the price and considering the other places that serve the same thing better, I'll stick with the crab cakes...... The calamari is also good.....but not as good as the crab cakes......The shrimp and Crawfish Fondeaux is also a good app! The Salmon Alexander was also decent, but I subbed salmon out for snapper. The fish was cooked to perfection! They show it comes with shrimp, scallops, and crawfish, but you get minimal scallops, and maximum crawfish! Wish it had more scallops because they were really good! Unless you dislike catfish or cornmeal, get the catfish. Huge portion, perfectly cooked, never greasy. Some of the best red beans and rice you'll find outside of cities really truly known for them. Everything we ordered came out fine and in a timely manner despite how busy they were. It was a bit noisy, but what do you expect for a Saturday night. That said, the standout of the night was our server, Rob. He really made the experience special for me and my family. Dining with young kids can be stressful but Rob was attentive, personable, and went out of his way to make sure we all had a great time. There are no Pappadeaux in the northwest-which is a shame. I remembered how good they were- but not really. This review will not convey how good this was! Sooo-i ordered ice tea when I sat down. Normally I ger unsweet tea, but thinking this is pappadeaux I ordered sweet. This is a little thing- but even their sweet tea is on point. So good. I ordered shrimp and grits with an endorsement from my server, Gilbert, and a Ceasar Salad. The Ceasar came just after their signature New Orleans bread. Both were excellent- the bread is light and dense at the same time. As good as you'll get anywhere. Would be great with a po-boy. The Ceasar is different from any I've had- but literally almost perfect. Can't really describe it- but again so good! The shrimp and grits are maybe the best meal I've ever had at a chain restaurant. (Even better than Carrabbas Chicken Marsala.) Meaty Cajun seasoned shrimp, cheese grits, a Cajun sauce, and sautéed greens with onions and garlic. Omg is all I can say. This was shrimp and grits perfection. From start to finish literally a perfect meal. Great friendly staff, helpful and efficient. Gilbert did a great job and was helpful. Went for Mother's Day dinner, had a reservation! When seated it took 1hr to get our meals, 2 of us got the Pasta Mardi Gras, flavor was great, but I didn't get any crawfish, and the other dish had a small amount of pasta. By the time the extra pasta came out, we were done eating. Our waiter, JOSE, was fabulous, kind, patient, and very understanding. JOSE gave us our whole meal free as well as dessert!
