Reservations are recommended as we had to settle for an early bird time as they said 5:30-8 was booked solid. First time to Pappadeaux in several years as none near home for us. Ordered Manhattan drink ( $11.95). Very good but disappointing that it was served with a maraschino cherry.... Bread served before meal with soft butter delicious as we were hungry. Ordered the Paparadelle Pasta with lump crab, scallops and jumbo shrimp . Was a fantastic presentation and the flavor was exquisite! Finished off the meal with a slice of key lime pie with fresh berries. Overt- food was great, service was great up to food service then she disappeared until we ordered dessert. Had not been to pappadeaux in a long time. Then when we got our food and I took my first bite I remembered why. The food was terrible I didn't even finish my dish which was the Shrimp Etouffee. It was so pale and lack of flavor, and paying over 100 dollars for 3 people (no cocktails or appetizers) we felt robbed. I hadn't been so disappointed in a meal in a long time. Once again top notch, we arrived early afternoon without realizing that today was Mardi Gras. Holy cow, this place was packed when we got here but somehow we still managed getting two tables next to each other right away. We started out with two dozen of the Bluepoint Oysters as appetizer, which went down in about 2 seconds flat between the 5 of us. Needless to say those are the bomb. As a main course I ordered the Red Snapper with Shrimps and substitute for the mash potato's instead of the steamed broccoli (in case you wonder why?, what's the difference between broccoli and booger? kids don't eat broccoli, lol). Anyway our meals arrived quickly and everyone on our table was happy and enjoyed their meals. Unfortunately my shrimps came out raw which was totally unexpected. I made our waitress Jade aware of it and the restaurant manager Maddie came quickly to our table and agreed that the shrimp came out undercooked. She apologized and got me perfectly cooked shrimps in no time and told us that my plate was on the house and apologized deeply. This was very sweet and completely unexpected but greatly appreciated and well handled by the restaurant,imho. As dessert we had the Breadpudding with vanilla ice cream and their famous Mardi Gras Cheesecake. Both are so delicious and to die for and I still feel paralyzed from all the food hours later. This is a very large restaurant, lots of noise which you expect with it being so large. Our waitress, Montana was excellent. We had a party of 8 and she handled everything very well. We started with Oysters, they were served nice and cold and were good, we had a couple of orders of the crab dip which was very good, the toast served with it was very salty. We also had the shrimp and crawfish fondue with garlic bread, this wasn't very good at all. The shrimp and crawfish were both very chewy, almost hard. With 8 of us there were leftovers on that, not a good look. My wife ordered jumbo scallops with shrimp risotto. She enjoyed this and the risotto after I tasted it was also good. I had the Shrimp Jumbo Brochette with dirty rice. The shrimp were not jumbo, the bacon a little over done but the rice was phenomenal. I took half of mine home, warmed in microwave together with wet paper towel and it was much better the second day re-warmed. All the drinks everyone had were good and the key lime pie for desert was great. Again, service was great, food was average, tough and salty (leads me to think of poor freshness or handling) and because of that I would say over priced. read more

I have frequented Pappadeaux's Seafood Kitchen dozens of times over the past 28 years and have always enjoyed my meals. The prices have been steadily climbing over the years, nearly doubling over the past five years or so, but because we liked the food, we went regardless of cost. Last night my husband made reservations to celebrate our tenth anniversary and we ordered nearly identical meals. We both ordered seafood gumbo, though his was supposed to be seafood with andouille sausage and mine was supposed to be exclusively seafood. It wasn't. We both had large chunks of andouille sausage though mine had been served with a couple of extra shrimp on top. I did not care for the andouille sausage which was why I ordered mine (allegedly) without it. The cost was $13.00 and $14.00 per CUP and unlike other cajun restaurants that serve their gumbo and rice separately, this came combined and was chock full of rice, so we paid thirteen dollars for about 1 or 2 tablespoons of soup, each. We also both ordered Red Fish with Pontchartrain sauce, which was a huge disappointment. I had really sold my husband hard on how delicious the sauce for the dish is, as I have had Pontchartrain sauce before, but this dish was nothing like it is supposed to be. Instead of being prepared with shrimp stock, a roux and then mixed with madeira wine, shrimp and crab to create a sauce, it was merely melted butter with some cajun seasoning poured over the fish, then finished with a sprinkling of crab and a few shrimp. VERY bland. No wine, no garlic, no onion, carrot or celery, no roux. Being exhausted by terrible food and service pretty much everywhere of late, we didn't complain, but have decided that we will never return and so will quietly slip away as many disappointed consumers often do. Our server was delightful and stayed on top of our needs which is the only reason this review is two and not a single star. For the cost of our meals, the food should have been stellar, not sub par. read more

I always heard great things about this restaurant so I decided to give it a try. When I walked in, I didn't expect it to look the way it did. It definitely gives you a vintage older feel, as though they haven't updated the decor in yearsss. However, I was still excited to try the food because I always heard someone I know mentioning how good it was. My friend recommended I order the Giant Shrimp & Grits and I generally love that combination so I figured what could go wrong. To be honest with you, I was not amazed by it at all. I really wanted to love it, but it didn't make a great impression on me especially because I love food so much lol. Maybe it was this location I went to because my friend swears I should give it another shot. The meal wasn't bad, everything just blended together so I couldn't really get to taste the flavors. We ordered our entrees , the rainbow trout wanted lightly blackened came out smothered with spice , my wife salmon wanted well done lightly blackened came out raw in the middle and lots of spice and they got new one out no spice it looks like they microwave it and put it in the fry pan lots of butter , my mom catfish warm at the best with cold rice and we want to celebrate my wife birthday and this is how it ended up thinking we drove from frisco hoping for a different experience not the case very disappointed Thanks Michael read more

This review is for the Pappadeaux franchise in general, which I have been to a few different locations and liked them all the same (this particular location was no exception). They are popular for a reason. They have a system that works amazingly well, from check in, service, checkout etc. The initial wait to be seated may seem long and the place is huge, but they get you right and you won't regret waiting to get a table. I can't even remember what I ordered but looked everything on our table was delicious and we had leftovers as well. Anytime I'm in Texas, I make it a point to dine here. It is what it is. read more

Went here 6/30/23 for our wedding anniversary and we're so disappointed. My husband and I are small so we split meals. We ordered the Shrimp, scallop and crab TAGLIATELLE pasta. It had 2 shrimp, 2 very small scallops and a tablespoon (maybe) of lump crab. Lots of pasta, flavorless sauce. My Husband had one drink and it costs us $60+. So many better selections in Grapevine such as Cafe Italian or even Olive Garden. Heck we could've gone to Bobs steakhouse and had a great rib eye. Waitress asked how was everything I said I was disappointed such small amount of seafood, she smiled and walked away. Should've at least sent a manager over. My daughters tried the stuffed shrimp and Mardi Gras pasta, my husband had the Pappadeaux platter, and they all liked their food, but for a $250 meal it was just seemed really underwhelming. They've changed the menu, which was disappointing. I was really craving the cheese grits and they no longer serve that for dinner. It was my go to side with my blackened Snapper. Ok.....I've been wanting to visit Pappadeaux for years after hearing rave reviews from friends. I came, I saw, I conquered. Eh, it was alright. We went on a Friday night so it was crazy busy but there were just two of us so we found a small booth by the bar to sneak into (no wait for those tables and booths!). Our server, Cayenne, greeted us right away and she was on point the entire night. My gripe? This place is expensive! You know it's expensive when their lunch "specials" run $15+. Even with a $60 gift card, I couldn't justify the cost of coming here again. My husband and I split a lot of stuff......crab and spinach dip (my fave of the night), salad, gumbo(no flavor and room temperature) and the Mardi Gras Pasta (delicious and perfect for the night before a big race!) We were stuffed and even had some to take home but unless I'm going on someone else's dime, just can't justify the price to value of this place. read more

This is my first time here because one of our coworkers really wanted to stop at this place to eat while we did an overnight trip to Dallas. They are very busy so reservations is recommended if you don't want to wait or take out. I totally understand the busy-ness can take away from getting the best service but Scott did the best he could for our party of 8. Thank you Scott for your patience and getting all of our orders correct. I've never been here and was impressed. The complimentary bread and butter served in the beginning was really good. At first look, the bread looks tough, but it's really soft and the butter just melts inside. I ended up going with the Shrimp, Scallop & Jumbo Lump Crab Pappardelle Pasta and glad I did. It was really good. The portions were plentiful. Everyone enjoyed their food, stuffed crab, giant shrimp and grits, seafood gumbo, filet mignon oscar, rainbow trout. I can't believe it, after eating at Pappadeauxs in Houston, Phoenix, The Woodlands and Grapevine over 80 times in the last 15 years, I had a terrible meal. Stopped in today around three and was told by a rude Hostesd we had a 20 minute wait. Looking over at least 30 empty tables we headed to the bar and had a lousy Margarita. These have been the best in Texas for years yet this one was about as good as one in a taco stand. 25 minutes later we were called and went to the table. Server met us right away and we ordered. My Wife had the Mahi with cheese grits and I had the Mississippi Catfish Opelousas. We shred a Greek salad which was okay. Going from the best to okay is a huge drop for the once great Pappas group. My Wife loved her dinner and I admit it was good. Mine, on the other hand, was terrible. The fish is served blackened yet mine was charred making the seasonings bitter. It was the saltiest dish I've ever had, inedible until I scraped all the blackened seasoning off the fish. It's served with dirty rice, one of my favorites....until today. It was dry, tasted like it was a few days old and reheated for the third or fourth time. The rice almost crunched it was so drawn up. I am very angry at myself for not sending the entire order back, but will not go back for a long time, if ever. The Waiter and Bartender were great, management needs to do something about the food. It was my 65th birthday...so, we decided to eat seafood. I ordered the grouper entree and my husband had fried catfish. Both meals were prepared with expertise and detail! Our server, Zachary K., was outstanding!!!! When he found out it was my birthday, I got to choose from the desert tray and he brought my crème brûlée with a cute candle and lit it for us!!! Came back and it was perfect! My drink came out good and strong and we even had a free app if you sign up for their club. I ordered the trout and crab and it was delicious! The mashed potatoes here is so addicting and I get it every time. The fish was superb, soft and flaky, and that crust held in that lemon flavor. Our app was the fondue and that never fails us. We order it every time. If you wanna save your food as leftovers, I would recommend the fondue! You get garlic bread and regular bread as well. That will definitely fill you up! My new favorite Pappadeaux. I just don't feel like they care anymore at the Richardson/ Allen location... most likely because they are busy and understaffed rather than anything intentional. Also had pretty gross catfish filets they still charged me for when they were training a new chef at that location (think rubber sole wearing a fried glove)... ugh. Either way, my expectations are very high, probably too high, because their service and food is known to be exceptional. And usually is! Only reason for a loss of a star at the dfw/ 121 location is their drinks are a tad inconsistent. Other than that, the atmosphere and food are great. read more

We ordered Pappadeaux for lunch on a Saturday. Ordering over the phone was quite time consuming but they do have an online option that may be more convenient. It wasn't a long wait for the food to be ready and they brought it out to us relatively quickly. The only suggestion I'd have for this process is send the employee with a portable payment machine instead of making them walk in and out of the building with our card & food multiple times. We ordered the gator for an appetizer which was really good! Highly suggest trying that. Then we got an order of Catfish with fries which my boyfriend hasn't been able to stop talking about. It's his new favorite place to get it in the area. I ordered skewers with fish, shrimp & veggies with dirty rice. Wow it was amazing. So much flavor. We also got bread with the order which was just normal bread, nothing special. It looked like they were open for seating but requires masks to come in the building. On Saturday at lunch not to many people were there so could be a nice lunch where you can also feel safe social distancing. I'm not sure you can go wrong with anything on the menu. Just left and I am full and happy. My husband and I needed a date night and I have always wanted to try this place out. Our waitress was the beautiful Anastasia and she made some great recommendations. We start off with some yummy oysters. My husband ordered an espresso martini which was great! I ordered a bloody orange cocktail that was also amazing. Then my husband ordered the Catfish Opelousas which was melt in your mouth amazing. It had a little kick too! I ordered the 18oz ribeye and a Caribbean lobster tail and it hit the spot. Then we had a special Mardi Gras cheesecake and it was wonderful!! Anastasia also made me a chocolate martini and hmmmm my sweet tooth was satisfied!! It was a great date night and all the servers and management really had lots of positive energy. As always the food here was excellent!! My husband and I live in Oklahoma but anytime we are in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area we plan a visit to Pappadeaux's. My husband's all time favorite is the Crawfish combo while I love their Salmon and also their fried shrimp. We have neither one had anything here we didn't like though. Their house salad is a delicious combination of flavors. Melba was our server today and took excellent care of us, paying attention to every detail. Melba has taken care of us during previous visits so I was happy to see her knowing we would once again have great service. read more

We received our bread first. Hard and stale They have changed their beer menu and it is very poor. Our server was nice, but brought us one appetizer instead of the two we ordered. Food was good, service fair. A couple of yelling screaming kids and nothing was done. We checked our reservation for our anniversary and they did nothing. I am not sure we will be back.
