If you're going to dine at Pappas burgers, you must get a milkshake. The peanut butter and Oreo milkshakes were the stars of the show. The veggie burgers are of better quality here than most places. The patties are homemade, and they use almonds and cranberries. Pro tip: we switched out the mozzarella cheese with pepper jack cheese and added fresh jalapenos! Each burger comes with a side, and our waitress recommended we do half fries and half onion rings. The portions of the sides are also humongous, so plan to share or have leftovers. While we largely enjoyed our experience dining here, a big pain point was the temperature of the food. Our mozzarella bites and fried pickles/jalapenos were room temperature at best. Dropped in to Pappas burger for a weekday lunch. Wasn't crowded, and didn't have to deal with a line. Parking was easy and got a spot right in the front! We ordered at the counter right when we walked in, and were given our recipe to find a table. I ordered the Mushroom swiss burger (subbed my bun for romaine wrap) and sweet potato fries. For my starter I ordered the wings (bare) with sauce on the side. When we sat down, a waiter approached to confirm our order and ask us what we wanted to drink. I don't really understand the point of this kind of service.. but our waiter was polite so I went with it. Our food took way way way too long to come out. I had to go to the counter and ask how much longer it would be, as I had a meeting I was going to miss. They apologized for the wait and the food came out shortly after. So this place used to be really awesome with their milk shakes and epic burgers. I think with the cost cutting, the portions have gotten a lot smaller; beef Patty used to be thicker and less fries - which if fine cause we don't need that much fries. However, when you used to order a milkshake, they would bring you the glass with your milkshake along with the metal can that had the rest of your shake in it. Now, they only give you the glass which is not that much to begin with. So you really are getting ripped off on the price of the milkshake. The cola float used to come out with the vanilla ice cream and the cola in the bottle. The cola was a Mexican cola with the real sugar. Now they just give you fountain cola for your floats.... Totally not the same; the taste was off and the presentation was blah. It used to be a real treat to come because of the big milkshakes and the cola floats... but with those changes in place... this joint is just another ho-hum hamburger place not worth the price. You get more for your money at Whataburger. Good ole days of this place are gone... it's not worth the drive into town for the price to get the same thing that I can get from the Whataburger in my subdivision. Even though the restaurant was packed he remembered our dessert and brought them out to us once we were finished eating. Everything tasted fresh and made to order. The mozzarella bites were filled with warm gooey cheese and the marinara was definitely homemade. The French fries were made from real potatoes and the servings are HUGE.
