I understand this place has like all kinds of stars and hype behind it, but this is my first time going in there, and I can say, being a fresh set of eyes. They definitely have been out paced by all the other frozen yogurt and ice cream options here in San Diego since the time they were given recognition. This was the closest place to my older brother's condo in fashion Valley so he took me and my daughter and her friend there because he was in the mood for ice cream. First thing I notice is it was pretty crowded, which is definitely good for business! And in all honesty, the girls who worked the counter were moving through customers at a really efficient pace! So kudos on that! However, it was pretty dirty in there! Lol it could really use a deep clean! Dust and dirt in the corners of the establishment a lot of like clutter and kind of like random stored stuff over to the sides. And then this was our main negative interaction. There was not enough seating inside, however me and my brother saw chairs stacked up in the corner so we pulled them out to sit at the tables. However, one of the girls at the counter said pretty vehemently that we're not allowed to use them and that we need to use the chairs outside. I'm not gonna lie my brother gets angry pretty easily lol so that really ticked him off cause the girl wasn't really polite or ingratiating about the request at all. It didn't bother me too much. The ice cream was really delicious and I love that they have all of these low-fat non-fat and vegan options. The kids got some pretty sugary concoctions which they really loved. I had a bite of my brother's cookie and it was amazing. All in all their product is really good. Their service is nothing to write home about however, for me it was just the state of the establishment. It really made me feel like I would not be surprised to see vermin in there. Super convenient with cute indoor/outdoor seating and even books to read while you snack. BIG plus for vegan and dairy-free options. That alone will make me come back. I ordered the classic Paradise Acai Bowl - strawberries, raspberries, granola, oats, banana and my choice of vegan yogurt. It was tasty and loaded with sweet fruit. It had layers of acai and vanilla yogurt minus the honey. Prices seemed a tad bit high, but it did hit the spot. They also offer smoothies, shakes, hurricanes, sundaes, and fresh baked goods (with vegan options). That said, customer service is hit or miss. Co-workers have mentioned how they can be off putting and not as friendly. Other times they can be warm and inviting, 50/50 in that department. Parking can be tricky during lunch time since it's near other businesses. Overall, I give it 3 stars. It's convenient near work and reliable in a pinch when you want something light and refreshing. I had a very disappointing experience here. This was my first time visiting, and will be my last. The service was extremely poor from start to finish. My Yogurt was almost entirely toppings with barely any actual yogurt, which was frustrating. When I asked for a refund, the staff was unable to assist me in any way. They couldn't provide a receipt, or process a refund. They were hesitant with any solution at all. Jenny, the supervisor, did top me with more yogurt which was nice but both she and another team member (who did not want to give me her name) were unprofessional, laughing and giggling during the interaction, which felt very disrespectful. When I asked to speak with a manager, I was told (while they were still laughing) that the manager would be gone for a month. Older lady who works the register has a condescending attitude. The customer infront of me was a first timer and was asking about the flavors, which the lady got irritated. When she asked to sample a flavor, the lady turned to her staff and rolled her eyes and directed her "don't put too much." We understand businesses having to cut even samples due to costs but to face front a yogurt shop like this.. lol. Delicious! I love the lower added sugar content in their acai bowls. While I realize that acai, frozen yogurt and fruit are going to be one big, happy carb bomb, the Paradise version keeps the added sugar lower than most others I've had. The fruit is fresh and sweet, and they do have dairy free options, which I'm thankful for. Today's server was cheerful and patient with my questions about their many options, and while the shop wasn't busy right when they opened, it was good to interact with someone who took the time to be friendly. What i got was about a small dollop of yogurt on top of some toppings (for which i was charged 3 dollars for a modest amount). During my visit today, I experienced an issue at the register that I feel your business should be aware of. I had two separate purchases and clearly requested to pay using two forms of payment: part in cash and the remaining balance on my debit card. The cashier combined both purchases into a single transaction and then informed me that the register could not process two payment types on one order. When I asked that the transaction be cancelled and rung up as two separate purchases, I was told this was not possible because the cash register was too old. I have never encountered a situation where a cashier could not cancel a transaction and create a new one, and this limitation caused inconvenience and frustration. Alright, let's talk about Paradise Yogurt. The ambiance is pretty small, but I like their unique style. They have a small little library in there which I thought was pretty cool! Spoiler alert: the açaí bowl was solid, but the customer service? Absolute garbage. My wife went in to order while I hit Ralph's, and when I came back, she looked annoyed--turns out, one of the workers gave her serious attitude over a *2-sample limit* that's not posted anywhere! Like, excuse me? Another worker had already given her 4 samples, no problem, then out of nowhere, this other girl shows up like the sample police with a chip on her shoulder. If it's that serious, maybe put up a sign or, I don't know, don't act like a dictator about yogurt. When I walked in, not a single greeting. It's like I walked into a funeral, and I swear, the staff looked like they hated life. Pro tip for the worker who clearly can't stand her job: maybe don't take it out on customers? Be nice or, better yet, find a new job that doesn't make you miserable. It's yogurt, not rocket science. Absolutely love this place! 10/10 every time! The prices of course have changed. It used to be like $12 the last time I got it and now it was about $15 . But it's still a good treat every time! Paradise yogurt is my go to spot for açaí and frozen yogurt in mission valley. The peanut butter açaí bowl, with extra peanut butter, granola and honey is the best item on the menu. The peanut butter açaí bowl alone deserves five stars. The frozen yogurt is also delicious, without being too sweet or tasting artificial. The parfaits are not good - I've tried a couple different flavors and they taste like nothing. So, why do I only give Paradise Yogurt only four stars? Occasionally, the staff, who are overall pleasant, forget to add condiments that are included in the item or requested separately. Also, the seating arrangement inside is cramped and outside space is limited. They used to have a big problem with a group of people coming around 8pm on the week days, taking up all the outside seating space and smoking, despite signs saying "no smoking" and no staff enforcement. Long, straight, and jet black; neither me nor my friend have that color or texture. We told one of the servers. She went and got the other server that took the order.
