The views are beautiful and the brews are tasty. The pilsner and the kolsch are quite good. They had plenty of comfy seating and were dog friendly which made for a perfect afternoon. The staff were super awesome and the pizza was absolutely delicious. I would come here for the pizza alone! Great honest beer, from a very honest brewery. As construction continues on more roomy and swanky digs about 12 miles north, the tasting room is now a tent with picnic tables. Kegs in a giant trucking storage unit are accessible from a makeshift wooden bar. The day we were there a food truck seemed to be offering some favorites. Dogs are welcome. As are kids.... Board games and a variety of wooden barrels and camp chairs complete the welcoming area. They offer several options on tap. We wanted to try all we could so chose flights- 4 beers for $6. That's nuts- they could easily charge twice that. Oh- and the warm, billowy pretzel at the end of the bar is something you want to taste, if not cuddle. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. You can't help but respect what they're building in creative beer with a growing national profile. And the fact it all stems from this very inviting and honest log cabin lot is even more endearing. We've loved their beers from afar- especially Southern Hemisphere IPA. It was great to get a feel for this company's roots and spirit for making great beer. read more

Located right next to a state campground that is in the lake and not overcrowded. Right off 87 makes getting growlers to go very convenient. Stopped by quick for a few 650 ml bottles, actually 5, to bring home to share with those of my Brew Buds less fortunate not to have been in the ADK's. The visit was quick, not by my choice, but to appease those in my brood that wanted to keep moving. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to sample a flight of the available taps. Others seemed relaxed and enjoying the beautiful weather and mellow setting. However, I was a very happy camper with my selection of bottles. Also, during our trip I was able to order a couple of pints of Paradox at local restaurants. The tap tender was very knowledgable on the products as well as offering comparisons to others. First of all the site is very beautiful!. Three former Frontier Town facilities were torn down to make way for this large brewing complex, It is a much needed improvement. The views are still special here. My complaints are that it is confusing parking area to navigate, You in fact have to park in a dusty gravel walk....then..walk over a Football field of asphalt before you can even reach the door?...There is in fact a large paved area "Directly in Front" of the brewery that reaches out to US Route 9. It is in fact mostly leftover from the former Motel complex that was on this site historically...so why can't we park nearer and nicer? Next to my dismay they don't fill Growlers here or do flights due to covid sanitation type issues. The restaurant is gorgeous and the menu looks satsifactory. We did not stay for food..Good luck in the future, and perhaps build on the momentum from the A-Frame redevelopment. read more

Interesting place. Long walk from parking to entrance. The draft selections are good but some more interesting and desirable brews are from cans only. The food is simple and quite average. The pizza is typical upstate thick doughy crust. The pretzels go well with the beer. A flight of current draft offerings is always a good start to figure out which one or ones you like. Definitely worth a stop to try the draft beers made there. This location appears to be popular with bikers. There is a large outdoor seating area. Table service is offered both inside and out. I did not notice anything exciting or spectacular about this brewery. This would be a good place to stop for lunch during a road trip. read more

We absolutely love this brewery and have been coming here since they opened. We're delighted to see their growth these past four years. The proprietors are friendly, compassionate, and good to their patrons! This is a must-stop place if you're traveling through or just visiting for the weekend. They just built a large outdoor bar, equipped with several picnic tables, protected by a large tent. Corn hole, live musical entertainment on Saturdays, along with music and conversation amongst patrons makes this place a nice place to hang after a day filled with hiking, boating, or working hard. Hungry? Belgian pretzels and snacks at the bar, or grab some good eats from the local food truck out front! They always have a different seasonal variety, the double imperial IPA beaver bite is sure to knock your socks off (though it goes fast!)! First visit in their new building. We loved the tent off of Exit 27 so this location is jaw dropping-just beautiful! We (3) visited on the coldest day of the year (so far) and we were toasty by the fireplace. All three of us enjoyed the soup of the day and pretzel with beer cheese. The soup would have been outstanding if it was hotter - but didn't think it was worth any comment to our server. Beer, of course, was fresh, cold and crisp-forgot what each of us had, but we all enjoyed our choices. Would totally suggest a stop by on your travels up or down the Northway. Don't live in the area, but my Brother-in-law does. We have a tradition of sorts, when we can get together Thanksgiving weekend and checking out some breweries. Saturday we went to a place in Bolton Landing, and did not enjoy it. Sunday we went to Paradox. I had been to the other location, but never at the new one. We spent the majority of our time in the enclosed outdoor area. They had taps and cans at the bar. Great selection of beer. They don't do flights but the guy had no problem giving everyone tastes as needed. I tried a few, but stuck with my favorite, the BeaverBite. They had chips and hot pretzels, as well as a food truck serving tacos. The picnic tables were properly spaced. Dog friendly (my neice brought her Lab puppy. Everyone enjoyed the beer, and a great time was had by all. PS- We went to the New Taproom to purchase some merchandise, and was impressed with the new digs. Awesome and interesting beers served up by the friendliest people! This spot was on our return from Lake Placid to New York. We heard about it from a fellow hiker atop the Giant Mountain and made a point of stopping by on our way home. We were so not disappointed. They are just starting out so it's located on a semi-sheltered patch of land on the side of the road right now but they will move into a physical building next summer. In addition to the great brews, it's also dog friendly, has a few board games, and cornhole. read more

This place exceeded every expectation I had, my new husband and I tried to go to Bolton Landing brewing but with no room to sit we ended up here. Honestly on the drive I was about to suggest skipping it, I'm so glad we did not! First off the pictures do not do the place justice, it is huge! So much seating, very COVID friendly. The bartender, I believe his name was Andre, was lovely, very knowledgeable and clearly very passionate about the beer. He even gave us a free beer to help us celebrate our marriage the weekend prior! The beer was also very solid, excellent IPAs using a variety of hops, we tried about 5 different beers and raved about them. No one tending bar - therefore you just had to be sure to flag anyone who was running behind the bar to take your order. One of the best things in Schroon! I love local breweries and this one is no exception. It's located next door to an amazing wood working studio so check that out on your way in. They offer a variety of IPA, later, rye, cider, and more. It's dog & kid friendly and there's comfy picnic tables that create a great community feel. It's easy to make friends with those around you. Went here after kayaking in Schroon. I have been to their old location years ago and have been to this new spot once before. 8 friends and I met here last night for dinner and we had a great time. The parking lot was full so we were worried we might not get in but the restaurant had open tables, including one that nicely held our group. Our waitress Lizzy took our orders right away and we couldn't believe how quickly our burgers and pizzas arrived. The craft beer scene, especially in New York State, has undergone a mind-boggling boom during the past decade. With a market this crowded, it is essential for current and aspiring brewers to bring something new to the table, something exciting. Short of reinventing the ale, for a small-scale brewery to stand out, the passion with which they brew must be evident in the final product. In other words, don't just open a brewery because you really like drinking beer and have a little cash to throw around. Paradox Brewery, while a bit of a drive from the Capital Region, should be the top destination on every local beer drinker's list. I arrived at Paradox on a Saturday afternoon in October, shortly after completing a hike in the area. While finding the taproom was a bit of a mystery, when I finally opened the right door, the warmth and sense of community was evident. I don't necessarily recommend bringing a huge crowd to Paradox, as the taproom is fairly small. If there are more than about 7 - 10 people in the space, it will likely start to feel crowded. One of the owners reported that a sizable addition will be tacked onto the existing space before the holidays, easing the congestion a bit. Just having that knowledge is good enough for me, as I was quite comfortable during my time there. The beers offered by Paradox are really something special. We sampled all seven of the day's offerings, which included the Beaver Bite IPA, Beaver Underbite Session IPA, Beaver Overbite IPA, Black Fly Porter, Paradox Pilsner, Paradox Fest Lager, and the Paradox Pumpkin Lager. Each of the beers, which are brewed in fairly small quantities, tasted fresh beyond most breweries that I've visited of late. For me, the Black Fly Porter was the winner. It was malty and rich, with subtle notes of chocolate. This, in my mind, is exactly what a Porter should taste like. The IPA trio was also quite good, even to a guy like myself that isn't huge on overly hoppy beers. We left with a 32 oz growler of the Pumpkin Lager, which stands out among the scores of pumpkin beers that flood the market this time of year. A tip when drinking the Pumpkin Lager - let it mellow for a few minutes, as it unlocks some really beautiful seasonal flavors. For the flight of seven beers, a 32 oz growler fill, and a pint glass, the total came to $17. When you add in a super friendly staff and a generally laid-back vibe, Paradox can't help but be a crowd favorite. In sum, I was majorly impressed by everything about Paradox Brewery. Sure, the taproom is a little cramped, but I think that adds something to the atmosphere of the entire operation. I must be perfectly clear when I say this - Paradox offers some of the very best craft beer that I've sampled within New York State. This is a true beer drinker's destination. read more
