I have been past Paragary's so many times, and I was finally able to make it in this weekend. I was supposed to go with a friend, but she last minute had something come up, so I treated myself to dinner out. The restaurant is so cute. It is giving Parisian bistro, minus the snobby waiters. My waitress, Megan, was wonderful. She was so attentive and made the perfect recommendations. When I saw a spicy blood orange margarita on the menu, I set the menu down because I knew that's exactly what I was going to be drinking that night. That's a perfect drink in my opinion. I love a margarita. I love a spicy margarita even more. And to top it off, a super citrusy flavored margarita hits the trifecta. The presentation was lovely, and the flavors were even better. My only complaint with it is that I drank it too fast. I started with the Idaho smoked trout. I love a smoked trout, so when I saw smoked trout on the menu, I assumed it would be a smoked trout dip, which is the only way I've ever had smoked trout. Unfortunately, it was not a dip. Rather a plate. It was still good, but it was my least favorite dish of the evening. In addition to the trout, the plate came with Durst Farm asparagus, leeks, gribiche, and trout roe. The main reason I didn't love this dish was because it had a hard boiled eggs in it. This is 100% my fault because I didn't know what grit is in. Apparently it is a cold egg sauce, so I take responsibility for that one. Next up with the Caesar. This was a great Caesar. Super crispy lettuce. Good amount of cheese on it. The dressing actually tasted like anchovies, which was a very pleasant surprise and much different than the Caesars that I've had recently. I wish they had some fresh ground pepper to go with it, but I'm sure they probably had some if I would have asked. My waitress was so attentive that she noticed that my salad was slightly dry, so she brought me out a little extra dressing. So nice the croutons were yummy. It tasted like they had been crisped in butter, and we all know how much I love butter. to go with my dinner, I had a quilt Cabernet from Napa. I've never heard of this winery, but next time in Napa, I will be trying it out. It paired well with my pasta and my dessert. For my main, I wasn't expecting to order this, but based off the waitresses recommendation, I decided to go for it. I had the rosemary pappardelle with Mary's chicken, leeks, pancetta, artichokes, garlic, and parsley. The rosemary baked into the pasta was delicious. I rarely order chicken out at restaurants, but this one was cooked well, and I liked that they cooked a little pieces rather than one giant piece. I loved the artichokes in this. They actually tasted a little sweet, in like a caramelized way. Obviously, it isn't a dinner without a dessert. I had the brûlée Basque cheesecake with a roasted blueberry compote, poppy seed meringue, and wildflower honey. The cheesecake was phenomenal, and I loved the brûlée part of it. Sooo good. OK, I'm going to be honest here. When you come from LA, you have been exposed to the best of the best so you are a bit more critical. Not sad after spending a few days in Sacramento I would say that this was probably the best place they they had. The restaurant was very cute and it was a vibe, but the food was honestly pretty mid. It wasn't bad but it definitely wasn't anything mind blowing. And we went safe with pizza, pasta, and meatballs. The cocktails were really good though. And the service was good. I would say if you are in Sacramento this is probably one of the best places you're going to find. So my rating of 4 is more so compared to other places in Sacramento. read more

What was supposed to be a fun dining experience to celebrate a belated Mother's Day was ruined by a rude hostess. We were 15 mins late to our 6pm reservation and understood that we would now be treated as a walk in guest. The hostess was extremely rude and told us that they have a 15 min late policy and that we could get a drink at the bar while we wait for our table. She said it would be about a 15 min wait for a table to open up. The bar was already over crowded with several other people waiting for a table. I also overheard another group of women saying they missed their table and were waiting to be seated. There was really no place to wait or stand, it is clearly a fire hazard to have so many people blocking the enterance/exit. Even the bartender was struggling to get around everyone blocking the walk way. After about 10 mins, I asked my husband if they took down our name for the waitlist. When he went back to confirm, a different hostess said that it's now a 30 min wait and that we weren't added to the waitlist when we first walked in.... The first hostess was so quick to dismiss us for missing our reservation, she didn't even put our names down. We would have been happy to wait if she wasn't so rude and dismissive. We decided to leave after it kept getting more and more crowded and had a MUCH better dining experience at Zocalo. My significant other and I came here on a Monday night for a date night! We had no reservation and got here around 7pm and were seated immediately! The interior was nice, it felt very classy and kinda old timey? but i loved it and they also had little bag stands you can ask for, for the girlies who would like to hang their bags! so cute! She came around and checked up on us multiple times and recommended a few items on the menu that we might enjoy and she was able to answer all of our questions! This place is great for weekend brunch. It's been a while since I've been to Bacon & Butter, but I think the brunch here is just as tasty. Which is to say that it's among the best in town. There's no parking lot, so you need to find somewhere to park on the street. The restaurant itself wasn't busy when I arrived at 10a. And it didn't seem busy when I left either. They can accommodate large parties. - drip coffee: solid coffee - Pumpkin French toast: this was fantastic. It was nice and light. Not greasy at all. Not overly sweet. This is what I want when I order French toast. Probably among the best I've had. - Breakfast burrito: very enjoyable. Classic flavors done well. Nice and filling. - breakfast potatoes: these are served with many of the dishes (including inside the breakfast burrito). Delightfully crispy in the outside while creamy on the inside. Yummy seasoned salt. - bacon: I had a strip of bacon and it's good! Yes, bacon is always good, but despite its ordinary appearance, it was light and crispy even though I thought it was going to be a lot more chewy. I saw some complaints on other reviews about the speed of service. I was with a large party and was chatting away so I wasn't in a rush. I don't recall the food taking an unusually long amount of time. And our waiter checked on us at least twice while we were eating. The interior is nice. It has kind of an old timey ambiance in a good way. it's classy and clean. I'll definitely return for brunch. And I'm now very interested in dinner. My family was in Sacramento and wanted a place that served scallops. This popped up and we decided to give it a try. Brass tax- $358 with apps, food, and drinks. Ambiance- 10/10- super cute Service- 8/10- attentive Drinks- wine, old fashions, Lavender Lemondrops- 7/10 Food- Caesar Salad- 1/10- very little or no dressing- just horrible; Mussels- zesty and quite good- 8/10; Halibut entree- fish was overcooked and it was in a broth so was that dryness was covered up a bit- 4-5/10. Scallops- pasta that came with it was a dry, sticky mess- 0/10; Scallops were 6/10 from my wife, but 3/10 from me. Mine were salty and gritty. Her's were better, but not memorable. I've always heard of Paragary's but never got around to going until now. I was hesitant because I dislike difficult street parking, especially on the weekend. Thankfully, I was able to snag a spot in the small free parking lot across the street. My friends ended up having to find street parking a little ways down, even early at 10:30 a.m. We had brunch reservations, which you can easily make online via OpenTable. My first impression was how cute and vibey the restaurant is, even more so in the back outdoor area. I loved all the greenery, waterfall fountains, and the fireplace. It's a very pretty spot for brunch, and the outdoor heating lamps make it cozy on a chilly morning. I also appreciated the bag hooks at every table. Service was excellent. Our server checked on us at all the right times, and we never felt rushed. Our drinks didn't all arrive at the same time, but at least our food did. I had a peach bellini and had no complaints. For food, I ordered my usual eggs benedict, which I like to get at any brunch spot. It was good and standard, tasting as expected. What would make me want to come back is to enjoy the outdoor seating again, though I am not sure I would go out of my way to return because of the parking and for average breakfast food, which didn't quite feel worth the price. We were served by Richard today. It was our first time at Paragarys. I always saw it on TikTok however never got the chance to go. We came for my boyfriend's birthday! We had the Brussel Sprouts and Salad as appetizers. The brussel sprouts were really outstanding. I was pretty surprised. Reservations were easy to make on OpenTable and the waitress even double checked allergens that were on my profile. Parking was pretty easy; Paragary's is in Midtown so sometimes you have to search for a spot, but today the weather was great and we parked on the street two blocks away. There are parking garages that are closer but we didn't mind the walk. The savory and sweet options were delicious, we had egg scramble with potatoes, huevos rancheros, orange cardamom French toast, and the lemon ricotta pancake. Loved their cappuccino as well. However, we were told that none of the outdoor tables were available despite our reservation. They mentioned a group was about to leave, so we agreed to wait. That wait ended up lasting about 45 minutes, which was longer than expected given how soon they said the table would be available. Once seated, we found that our table was about 80 percent exposed to direct sunlight. In Sacramento's summer heat, that made things really uncomfortable. Every other outdoor table had an umbrella, but unfortunately, ours did not, and the staff was unable to provide one. Four out of the six of us were visibly overheated, which took away from the overall dining experience. On a positive note, our server was attentive and did a great job walking us through the menu. Food took a little longer to come out, but that was understandable given how busy the restaurant was. When it finally arrived, the dishes tasted fine but didn't stand out. I would describe the food as solid but unmemorable. Overall, this spot seems to prioritize aesthetics over substance. The seasonal sangria had a perfect fruity flavor and wasn't too strong. The meatballs came quickly and were delicious. Once we finally got to our table, the time between ordering and getting our food was quite long. It seemed like we were there for a while. For the price, the food wasn't all that. Paragary Restaurant was a complete disappointment. From the moment I walked in, the host was unpleasant and unwelcoming, setting the tone for a bad experience. Customers are clearly not valued or treated with care here. The service may look polite on the surface, but it's actually subtly rude and dismissive. There's no warmth, no effort--just an attitude that makes you feel like you don't matter. The food is where it really falls apart. It doesn't taste fresh or high quality at all--it feels artificial, like it was made in a lab instead of a kitchen. The eggs were especially bad. I've been eating eggs since 1977, and I've never seen anything like that before. The texture was like paste, almost like Play-Doh, not real eggs. Please watcg video attached. That alone was enough to question everything else coming out of the kitchen. On top of that, the breakfast menu is extremely limited--only about five options--which feels lazy and uninspired. We started with the roasted mushroom soup, which was a special, and it was delicious. Warm and creamy! Then we got the hand cut rosemary pappardelle pasta and duck for entrees to share. Came for a work event and was so surprised! We started with the focaccia - so good but wish they brought out more bowls of the oil and vinegar mix because it was awkward at such a large table. We then had the option of chicken or salmon. I went with the salmon and it was SO GOOD! The skin was thin and perfectly crispy and the salmon was cooked perfectly- the puree underneath the fish was delish and the rest of the veggies added a little sweetness. Absolutely loved it. For dessert, we had the flourless chocolate cake- wow. Super decadent. Recently visited again for my birthday, with my husband and my grandmother. We were seated quickly, in a nice quiet corner table. We had Richard as our server and he was great. He shared a lot of useful information regarding the menu, wine list, and helped us decide when it came down to dessert. I appreciate how often the menu changes here. It never fails. This time we ordered the rosemary focaccia and Cesar salad to start with. Paragary's continues to be one of the most solid spots in Sacramento. The outside patio is absolutely beautiful--cozy, and perfect for dining. The temperature was VERY hot out the night we went and we hesitated sitting outside ~ but patio was cooled off by some fans and under the lights and trees it was perfect. The food is consistently excellent. We enjoyed the wood-fired pizza and the seasonal pasta, both full of fresh flavors and perfectly prepared. I visited this restaurant recently and was met with one of the most unwelcoming experiences I've had dining out. When my family walked in, the hostess looked at us and said there was no room despite the restaurant being visibly empty. No apology, no offer to check availability, just a dismissive attitude from start to finish. We left without being seated and won't be returning. A hostess sets the tone for the entire dining experience, and this one made it clear our business wasn't wanted. Management should be aware that this kind of treatment drives customers away and reflects poorly on an otherwise potentially great establishment. read more

Food is consistently good, atmosphere is also lovely. Biggest reason for my low review is their management policies. We brought in a small individual Nothing but Bundt cake to celebrate a birthday. They wanted to charge us a dessert fee per person. It was ridiculous. Now we are changing our reservation to add a person for this weekend and they're saying its not possible. Boo. My friends and I tried this spot for belated birthdays brunch. Eggs Benedict was tasty but on the salty side. I had the beef salad which was a bit bland, and my friend's salmon toast was salty too. My son enjoyed his fries, and they were also salty. The outdoor seating was really nice, definitely a good vibe for a weekend brunch. Parking in midtown wasn't the easiest, but prices were fair and the service was solid. read more

The hostess yesterday was able to accommodate our reservation request and for that she made our night truly amazing! Our server was attentive and made our Anniversary feel special!!
