Good food, but definitely not consistent. For example, I usually ALWAYS get the avocado toast on gluten-free bread..Today the bread was randomly sourdough (normally a different kind of bread that has seeds on the crust.) Hopefully, it was actually gluten-free. The biggest concern however was their reaction to my complaint today that the mustard seeds (which are all over the avocado toast,) were as HARD AS CONCRETE. I had to keep spitting them out so I didn't damage a tooth! Not a pleasant way to eat a meal, having to constantly spit bits out... Upon examination (after the 5th one I had to spit out) I realized some of the mustard seeds were normal texture and some were as hard as concrete! I told them this and they come back and tell me, "the chef says this is how they're supposed to be." What a crock of ****. a) That's not how they're supposed to be as they have never been that way before and they're NOT edible, not without damaging your teeth, and b) 20% of the mustard seeds were normal texture. Even if your customer IS wrong (which I was not,) you just smile, say sorry and agree and fix it, you don't debate and disagree... Good luck with that story- you guys are going to get a rich LJ obnoxious older lady that demands you pay for her cracked tooth/filling repair. It's just VERY typical SD service, it's hit or miss. (I've lived here my whole life, so I know, believe me.) The food was just sloppy today, with hardly any jalapenos (a total of 2,) and much fewer beets than normal. Had to get up to get the honey in my tea that I already asked for upfront. I'm getting to the point where I think I will literally just start cooking my own dam food lol. It's just too expensive to keep paying for food/drinks with substandard service and inconsistent food quality. I might give them a try again another day if I happen to be in the area, but DEF not driving from OB again to have breakfast and work outside. PS-most of the parking here is 1-hour MAX so be careful. read more

Came here on a week day, in need of taking a seat and finishing up some paperwork for school. In doing so I was treated well and ordered a double shot espresso, with oatmilk. It was a nice coffee shop, servers were polite, and my order was out pretty fast. Sat there for about 2hrs and was never looked at badly. It offers outdoor seating with lots of shade. I highly recommend trying them out. Here's a tip: look at their menu prior to going to see if you would like to try something different rather than making them decide for you. A certified hipster-millennial-instagrammable coffee shop in sleepy La Jolla. The coffee was ok. We tried the Mayan Mocha, which was espresso, mocha syrup, cayenne pepper and cinnamon. It had an interesting kick that cuts the sweetness. of the drink. The small size serving is pretty similar to a tall cup at Starbucks. Ambiance is nice and beautiful, but I doubt the chairs are comfortable for more than 1 hour because they're wooden (inside seating) and steel (outside seating). We got our coffee, took our pics, and were out in a breeze. We came here during our winter trip to San Diego and it was the only coffee shop open at 6 pm. They weren't set to close for another hour, but the two guys manning the place were already cleaning up and they were ready to go. We were super excited to try this place (and it was the only one open, after we stopped by 3 closed cafes). We tried to chitchat with the guys, but they weren't having it, they were ready to call it a night. I guess part of the gimmick is to be all indifferent and act cool, but they seemed unfriendly. Hands down the BEST salmon toast I have ever had. The salmon to toast ratio was more salmon than toast which is always a plus. I didn't think that the salmon toast would be as filling as it was but it was perfect enough for me. My boyfriend and I walked down the cove and the surrounding areas and we were still full. The matcha latte is delicious. I got mines with Almond milk. You could taste the real matcha powder. My boyfriend got the almond toast that has fruits on top. The almond butter was a perfect match for the toast and fruits. He also got a hot chocolate but finished before I could taste it so it must've been delicious. You can tell that this cafe is priced for the rich, white, gluten-free soccer moms of La Jolla (sorry not sorry, it's the truth) +I ordered a poached egg on top of my mushroom toast and it was definitely over. Like less than a quarter of my yolk was runny :/ +I don't want to be a diva about this, but I was on crutches (non-weight bearing) the first time I came here. None of the employees were friendly enough to help me carry my drink to my table even though the store was practically empty. All in all, they are not handicapped friendly. The service is pleasant, but they don't go out of their way to be helpful or make your day better. Overall, if I'm in the area, I will definitely stop in to try more of their coffee menu! read more

I decided to order their avocado toast, as I'm a sucker for a good avocado toast and ordered a side of beet smoked salmon. The ingredients were fresh and it all worked together. Cute place that I found on Yelp. Pastries were good. Coffee was ok. They need to figure out a better front-of-house system because there was only was person greeting guests, entering orders, processing payment, answering the phone, entering phone orders, and helping other employees coordinate it all. We waited in line for about 15-20 minutes before we reached the cashier, and there weren't that many people in front of us. Also, there is only one small walkway for both staff and guests to use to enter and exit the restaurant, so it's nearly impossible to stay out of someone's way. We didn't end up ordering made-to-order food because were were hungry and anticipated the wait to be too long, so we just ordered bread pudding + a croissant + coffee. But the food looked really good. Saw a bunch of people just ordering take-away which would have been a better option. Maybe next time! read more

We went on a Wednesday morning and I wasn't prepared for how busy it would be! The place is small and the line was out the door. We ordered food and drinks and sat outside to wait. Everything was delivered to our table and everything was so delicious! The vanilla latte was not the best I've ever had, and I thought it was odd they didn't have to go cups specifically for cold drinks, but it was good anyway. This is my new fave brunch place! When I got there, almost all the tables were taken, so I knew it was a popular place. I ordered the mushroom toast and it is the best I have ever had. The bread is toasted nice and crispy and doesn't get the least bit soggy even after being spread with the pesto and goat cheese. The mushrooms are seasoned just right. And oh man, that truffle oil really kicks things up to another level and brings amazing flavor to every bite.
