This place is currently my favorite brunch spot in La Jolla Cove. This petite cafe has the cutest interior design and a very clean, fresh vibe. Everything about it is very picturesque, including the outdoor patio seating (shoutout to the several little puppers who wagged around being their adorable, cute selves) The food was a perfect balance between light and filling as to provide satisfaction without leaving you to feel heavy and bloated after. I LOVED the labneh provided with the Organic Greens Scrambled Eggs. Also the Chilaquiles were B.O.M.B. Will definitely be back to try the waffles. read more

I love the parakeet café in Little Italy, so I started coming into this location for coffee and fancy superfood lattes. The food coming from the kitchen looks amazing and I can't wait to try. Our experience here has been consistently great. Drinks are well-made and vegan pastries are a nice accompaniment! I actually was going to parakeet juicery only to find out it was closed :(. Luckily the cafe was nearby which was aesthetically pleasing with its pop colors and fancy interior decor. I ordered the Magic Mushroom Matcha with oat milk. The taste was very creamy from the matcha and herbal from the ashwagandha. I liked how the cups kept them nice and warm for an extended period of time. My GF ordered the moon milk with oat milk and had a more herbally taste to it as well. Loved both the drinks! Food and coffee was really good! They had gluten a gluten free option for their avocado toast which was tasty. There's pretty limited seating inside so we had to sit outside, which isn't too bad when the weather's nice! My biggest knock is it's expensive for what you get. For lunch for 2 people with 2 avocado toasts and coffee our bill was around $50 with tip. read more

Man I wanted to love this place!!!! It's so cute that it draws more Basic B's than a lululemon next to Starbucks. I just overheard a convo between 3 girls in lulu leggings about how someone's dog is on a gluten free diet ...it's time to go... But unfortunately their coffee is a fail. Kinda watery, it could've just been the person who made it, I feel like the flavor itself has potential but it was user or machine error. The cinnamon/morning bun has an identity complex but I kinda like it- a cross between both types of buns it was crispy, chewy and moist. Make sure you asked for it heated! I'm happy that Parakeet cafe has opened a new location downtown and will be opening another one closer to me in Del Mar. While La Jolla is nice to visit, parking can be complicated on a weekend. The cafe is small inside, but there is a small patio outside. The bakery goods are super yummy here, and relatively healthy! There are several gluten free options, all ingredients are organic I believe. There are a few types that have no added sugar to them. My favorite is the matcha cinnamon roll. The sweetness of the cinnamon and the matcha balance out well. I also recommend their gluten free muffins. These are super moist, yet my fingers never get oily so I wonder how they do that! The huge cookies are also a hit with me! All the drinks are crafted well. In this area, I like the lattes and mochas much better than the other cafes within walking distance. The entrees are creative too! While Parakeet is on the pricier side, the fate lives up to the price. Last but not least, service is quick and friendly read more

This place is a great addition to the brunch scene in La Jolla. There's not much indoor seating, so it can get pretty crowded, but that's probably my only complaint. The service is fast, the food is delicious, and the decor is super cute. I definitely recommend trying this place out - especially the charcoal latte or the shakshuka! read more

Also, the espresso is some sort of unique blend only made for Parakeet Cafe. I really dug the flavor- tangy and rich. I highly recommended trying it. First time trying out Parakeet's other location and to say I was disappointed is an understatement. I don't know how you mess up a parfait and a latte this badly, but somehow they managed to. We had to get our food to go because there was no available seating at this tiny store. There wasn't even enough room to walk inside because they let 8 girls sit at a 2 person table right inside the door. Once we left and started eating, I realized there was no granola in my parfait. It was just 2 cups of Greek yogurt with a few berries thrown on top and some jam. I drove all the way back, I parked blocks away, squeeze into the crowded store to ask for them to remake it. Only to get back to my car and see that they added maybe, maybe 1 tbsp of granola. Latte was watery and gross and the lady working the cash register had no idea what simple syrup was. SAVE YOUR MONEY! Or go to the one in Little Italy. read more

i've been here before covid and it has the cutest vibes. the vibes are still there and there's plenty of outdoor seating available. the staff are super nice. it just sucks that street parking in this area sucks. i parked a few blocks down and walked on over. the blueberry muffin was perfectly sweet and moist. the matcha latte isn't too sweet and you can actually taste the matcha. i substituted with almond milk (+ $1). the latte was $6.50 and the muffin was $4.50. a little bit on the pricey side but willing to pay for the amazing service and the quality of food & drink read more

Very stylish, they make good use of their small space. A cute outdoor patio which is nice, especially being so close to the beach. The indoor dining area has a fantastic parakeet/exotic bird wallpaper that makes it hard not to take a photo :) For my visit I tried their Mayan Mocha, iced. It wasn't as sweet as I was expecting, but I really enjoyed the subtle hit from the cayenne pepper. I also tried their gluten-free snickerdoodle cookie which was INCREDIBLE! So buttery and soft and complex and perfect. Almost wanted to buy a second one, lol. Staff are sweet and knowledgeable, their menu has lots of inventive coffee/tea options. I don't know if I would order the Mayan mocha again, but they have tons of other choices I'd be interested in, such as their maple sage latte or their iced mint latte. Very cute place! Nicely decorate, love the music and the vibe. Got a coffee and cacao waffle to go since I was in a rush. The waffle came out in under 10 minutes! When I ate it almost an hour later, it was still fluffy and delicious. A lot of locals came in to order and there's also some nice outdoor seating. One family several places AFTER us were already almost done with their meals (they ordered waffles). And several customers AFTER them, also received their orders. And still, our food was not ready. I went up to the register to speak with the employee who took our order to complain, and she was non nonchalant about the whole situation. Barely an apology! Comped us one orange juice drink and that's it?!? Avoid this place unless you want HORRIBLE service, rude employees who couldn't care less, and mediocre food at best. I wish I could give this place a 5 stars, but the service was almost comically bad. I had lunch here mid-week, ordered avocado toast and the kale salad. The restaurant was about half full, but it is a pretty small place. Servers forgot to bring us waters, share plates, and to-go containers after we specifically asked for each at different point during lunch. Their aprons said "smile" and maybe that is a reminder to them because I didn't see a single smile from any worker. This was my second time going, and I was excited to enjoy a healthy lunch (on the patio) with my mom. The food is creative and yummy, but the service was so bad that I really hope the owner sees this and can talk to the male employee with an attitude (perhaps you know who I'm talking about?). He was very condescending and rude when I went to see if they had forgotten my mom's order (we had been waiting 10 minutes after my dish had already arrived). My other friend who is a frequent customer also knew who I was talking about, so it sounds like his attitude is well know. You won't be disappointed by the food, but the service leaves a lot to be desired. read more
