i made a yelp account just to post this because i just can't understand why there are so many good reviews of this place. a lunch wrap and appetizer was $60. the food was extremely salty and oily. they're also so shady about the prices of things: items are marked up $5 over what's posted on the window outside. sparkling water was $10, which they conveniently don't mention as they offer it to you. please don't support dishonest businesses like this. read more

I've been coming to Paratha Wala ever since it opened and it's definitely one of my favorite restaurants in Forest Hills. I'm really glad that an Indian Place opened up because there's definitely not enough around here, and this place has everything from street food to classic Indian entrees. Fantastic food & ambience! From the colorful wall art to the fresh, aromatic food, this place is truly a joy to dine in. I greatly enjoyed the service provided by our waiter, Amit S. The food was very rich. For appetizers, we had the Dahi Bada, which was a nice yogurt dish with a hint of sweetness. We also had some kale fritters, which went very nicely with the provided sauce. We ordered the masala chai, which came in a very nice teapot & glass. The chai had just the right amount of spices. The chicken tikka bowl was excellent and for dessert, a simple but sweet khir as a lovely finishing touch. Anyone who enjoys desi/South Asian food is in for a great treat. I cannot rave enough about this place. I have been twice now and tried a lot of different dishes, everything is fresh, fantastic and authentic (I should know, I am Indian and eat a lot of Indian food). Everything is very tasty and cooked perfectly (we ate lamb, paneer, kofta, chicken, rolls/bowls and also had several types of chais). I came here with my whole family this past weekend for the 2nd time because I wanted to bring my parents and they accommodated us very nicely. The servers here are wonderful, treat you very respectfully and really make the dining experience top notch and unbeatable. Every single item we bought was delicious. We had the kale fritters and sweet chili wings for appetizers. They were very delicious and the sauces with them were so fresh and flavorful. Came by today around lunch time for take-out, and the food was done really fast! The two guys in the front (I'm sorry I didn't catch your names) were really friendly. I got an egg paratha roll with chili-garlic sauce (medium spicy) and rose basil lemonade. The paratha roll was so good! The tamarind sauce, the chili garlic sauce, and the green mint chutney were all awesome. And finally, the rose basil lemonade was fresh and delicious for this early fall day. :) read more

Was excited to find that this place was now delivering to me although I don't live that close to it. I got three paratha rolls and the lamb biryani, and while this will cover several meals and thus I've only tried the fish paratha roll thus far (with yummy desi fries), I can tell already that I love this restaurant. They were absolutely unbelievably fast with the delivery, too, and the food was hot and fresh. The delivery person obeyed the instruction to leave the food outside my door, which not all restaurants do, and this nowadays counts as an additional plus. I'll be very happy to order from this restaurant again in the future. read more

Our third visit and they continue to exceed our expectations each time! We sat outside at a very comfy table around colorful decor that didn't at all feel like you were on the side of Metropolitan Avenue. Our server Amit was charming, helpful and attentive, asking about our preferences, suggesting his favorite dishes and expertly explaining each item we asked about. All items we ordered were amazing! The apps, including the Samosas, Tikka Chaat and Kale Fritters were perfect and the sauces delectable. The entrees we ordered including Coconut Salmon Curry, Shrimp Biryani and Plant Power Bowl were perfect, plus we split a Fish Paratha Roll with egg that was delicious (and would make a great lunch sandwich). Just we we through we couldn't eat another bite, Amit brought us Kheer (rice pudding) on the house and it was exceptional, like the rest of the meal.
