The service was good, but I think management needs to better train them on when to interrupt. If you see the patrons are engaged in conversation & not on their phones and not looking pissed off; why are you interrupting? If we needed you, we'd flag you down. Annoyance never equals a great tip. The menu has room for improvement. I would like to see more sampler platters which are common with ethnic restaurants. Solid Persian food in the suburbs. My party of 10 and I recently dined here for Mother's Day. We like doing family style so we ordered most of their combo platters. Started with Mediterranean salad, babaganoush, and falafel. All were decent apps, but particularly like the babaganoush with the warm pita bread. For our main we had: - grilled combo platter with chicken, cubes of steak, and burger. All flavorful but steak was the best - grilled seafood platter with salmon and shrimp. Enjoyed the salmon, didn't get a chance to try the shrimp cause there were only 5. - whole bronzini - meat was tender but could have used a bit more seasoning. The service was on the slow side and they didn't do anything special for Mother's Day which would have been a nice touch. Overall a decent experience. read more

Very tasty food for the price and very generous portions for the kebabs. I got the mixed kebab and an appetizer dip, both were satisfying. The free flatbread was also a great bonus as we were munching on that non stop with the dips and appetizer. The cherry rice was great tasting but I would avoid it since some of them had pit fragments in there which could easily crack someone's tooth. Nice roomy contemporary space. Food was wonderfully prepared. So delicious. Six of us did family style with three hot appetizers, eggplant, dumpling and fried crispy rice with stew. Service was great and food was AMAZING! My 2 friends and I started off with the kash-bademjan for appetizer. It literally melts in your mouth. I got the koobideh beef kebob as the Entrée and it was also amazing. SO tender and goes so well with the yogurt sauce and I also asked for hotsauce on the side which tasted very fresh. I came out of the restaurant super content, satisfied and stuffed. I've been really getting into Persian food. I've started going to enough places to realize when a certain dish is done well or particularly stands out. Ridge wood for awhile has had a good restaurant/bar scene, I'm happy to see some diversification happening with their food. Pardis is a solid spot for Persian cuisine. 3.5 stars... Pardis is a beautiful restaurant with a really friendly staff. I think it's a bit hit or miss with the menu depending on what you order and what your experience level is with the dish (when it comes to food sometimes ignorance is bliss). Their hummus is solid. I'd give it a solid 4 stars. I also thoroughly enjoyed their Sambuseh (seasoned chickpea fried dumplings). Their falafel wasn't that crispy and despite having good flavor was incredibly dry. I would give those 2.5 stars. I got their chicken stew which had perfectly cooked meat that strangely shredded more like pork than chicken breast. Unfortunately I underestimated how sweet this sauce would be. It really wasn't my cup of tea. I can't properly rate how authentic this is because I have little experience with the dish. I also tried their ground beef kebab which had great flavor. Despite being well-done it wasn't dry at all. Each kebab had plenty of meat on it to make a filling meal. Im not sure if the take-out extras are the same quantity as if you were to eat at the restaurant but they included a ton of pita bread with our order. I appreciated the generous amount of them. I do think that the pita wasn't that tender or fresh and I doubt they made them in-house though. The downside besides the disappointing falafel is that their prices are a bit higher than what you'd expect. For the cost of a meal here I'd want all the dishes to be flawless. As it stands I'm not sure if I'll be returning in the near future but I'm sure I'll eat here again at some point. read more

We never mind driving more than 30 minutes one way to get to Pardis whenever we're craving delicious, fragrant, mouthwatering Persian food (which is basically all the time). To echo Anthony Bourdain's statement on his episode of Parts Unknown in Iran, we truly don't understand how Persian cuisine hasn't caught on with the masses in the U.S. the way other international cuisines have, like Indian; Japanese, Chinese, Italian, French.....the list goes on and on. But doesn't include Persian food. Let's change that!! Go to Pardis and you won't be disappointed. Do some research about Persian food and find dishes that sound/look good to you before heading in so you don't feel overwhelmed. Some classic Persian dishes that have always been a hit with any of my non-Persian friends I've ever taken for Persian food: -Koobideh beef kebab (skewered ground beef kebab): Pardis' is always cooked perfectly with a great balance of flavors. -Fesenjan: a chicken stewed in a mixture of pomegranate molasses and crushed walnuts. It's unlike anything else you'll ever eat. Perfect combo of tart, sour (a key taste in Persian cuisine), and a hint of sweet. -Tahdig with ghormeh sabzi: tahdig is Persian gold. Crispy, flavorful bottoms of the pot rice. Order it with the ghormeh, an herb stew made with red kidney beans and cubes of meat that becomes so tender after simmering for hours. -Really any of the kebabs would be a good start: chicken kebab (would recommend the jujeh or breast over the ground chicken koobideh), salmon is always a good choice too (although not a super authentic dish). Pardis is by far the best Persian restaurant we've eaten at in NJ or NY. We love it here! read more

There are a ton of restaurants along E Ridgewood Ave - some endure and build a loyal following, and others end up closing within months. After eating at Pardis Persian Grill, one thing was clear: this place is here to stay. We arrived for a late dinner at around 9pm on a Saturday, and even then, they were filled to capacity. We had to wait about ten minutes, but luckily, we managed to get a table outside. Complimentary nan-e taftoon, a thin and chewy Iranian flatbread, was brought over shortly after we were seated. Two dips - one yogurt and the other cilantro-based - were served alongside the nan, as well as butter packets for guests who'd prefer the standard "bread and butter" with their meal. I really enjoyed the falafel (deep fried ground chickpea balls with herbs and seasoning); paired with a tahini dressing, the appetizer portion consisted of five pieces, and the plate was garnished with halved grape tomatoes and lettuce. The falafel's consistency wasn't too dry or crumbly, and the seasoning was spot-on. I also liked the traditional kash-bademjan (kashke bademjan), an eggplant dish with sautéed fresh garlic and onion and homemade yogurt on top. The eggplant was thick enough to act as a dip for the leftover nan-e taftoon, and the garlic and onion enhanced the vegetable's flavor. The employees at Pardis Persian Grill were accommodating and friendly, and it seemed like many of the other people there were regulars, so it's no wonder they remain busy. read more

No centrifuges here (so leave your stuxnet at home) -- unless of course you consider the equipment they use to enrich cream with rosewater and pistachio to make a banging ice cream a WMD. ;) We ate traditional (mostly). It is BYO (but we didn't). Ordered the Fesenjan (chicken stew made with pomegranate molasses and ground walnuts) "off the menu." GET THIS when they have it. Despite it's dreary and unappetizing appearance -- this dish hits all the major taste sensations -- tart and sweet, savory and herbaceous, sour and salty -- full of umami. Hearty winter fare -- served over saffron rice. One order is really enough dinner for two at $15.95-- especially if you do apps. We started with Kash-Bademjan (smooth eggplant/tomato/yogurt dip) which was just ok -- lacked any punch -- mostly tasted like tomato paste. The hummus was a bit too silky for me owing to the abundance of sesame paste -- but the star of this round was the Sambuseh (deep fried, thin skinned dumplings with a pleasing chickpea/herb stuffing that they pair with a thin cilantro based sauce). Apps are mostly in the $7 range apiece. The Chicken Koobideh Kabob main ($14.95) is a bargain -- 2 huge skewers of really moist and deliciously seasoned ground chicken -- grilled perfectly accompanied by a huge mound of saffron rice, with pickled cabbage and a grilled tomato. The chicken is finely ground so it can taste a bit mushy. If you prefer your meat in chunks, you may not like this texture. Plenty to share here. Less successful for me was the Gheymeh-Bademjan (stewed beef, lentils, eggplant and desiccated lemon/lime rind in a tomato based sauce) at $15.95. KOTC does this dish better in my opinion. Pardis' version was a bit thin and lacked the citrusy explosion I expected from the lemon And yes -- the rosewater ice cream dessert is quite spectacular -- smooth and slightly sweetened rosewater flavored ice cream is paired with chunks of pistachio and frozen squares of unsweetened cream. Served in a martini glass with a sprig of mint, this dessert is a play on textures, subtle flavors with minimum sweetness. A nice finish. They offer other Persian desserts like baklava and zoolbiambamieh (basically fried dough doused in simple syrup) -- but none of these are made in house. The Persian tea is light on tannins but strong -- with free refills. Pardis strikes a nice balance between quality, authenticity and value. If you like Mediterranean flavors and service by a competent and unobtrusive staff -- in an upscale environment -- this new Persian in town is a good choice. read more

Being voted one of Yelp's top 10 restaurants for 2020 in Ridgewood , I made reservation for early seating tonight (5pm-7pm. ) From reading the great reviews on Yelp, I couldn't wait to try out Persian food for the first time. Since it was Sunday, street parking was available close to the restaurant and free. Social distancing was in order here. Our waiter was Bruce and the restaurant was clean and the interior stunning. I wanted to meet the owner Kevin and congratulated him for placing top 10. He was very friendly and helpful by assisting us on what to order. We started with white flat bread aka Nan-e taftoon with a yogurt dressing and cilantro on the side for dipping. For appetizers, we tried out the Dolmeh (Grape leaves stuffed with rice & herbs) and the Sambuseh (Crispy fried dumplings stuffed with chickpeas and herbs served with a spicy sauce). Both were served hot and very tasty. For entrees, we had Chicken Sultani Kebob (skewer of Barg (filet mignon) & a skewer of koobideh (ground beef)) accompanied with Basmati rice and grilled tomato, Fessenjan (Crushed walnuts with chicken cooked in pamegranite paste and served with white rice, Brook trout (Butterflied trout broiled to perfection and served with the green rice and grilled tomato and chicken kebob with fries. The huge portion of food came out hot and smelled delicious. The basmati rice had a taste of butter. No complaints from us as all was perfectly prepared with the right amount of spices. We were so full, but the owner insisted of desserts. We tried out the Baklava (Layers of filo pastry filled with pistachio & sweetened with honey) and the saffron ice cream with pistachio, cream & rosewater. Love the homemade bread and traditional eggplant dip to start with. The lamb shank was perfectly seasoned and fall-off-the-bone perfection! The dill rice was delicious, but wish there were more broad beans. We also got the khoobideh, but honestly one protein entree would probably be enough for two people. (Especially if you get a few apps and dessert.) The saffron ice cream was so decadent and creamy, and I love the presentation. Totally novel and fun! The baklava was delicious as well - especially paired with the piping hot, Persian tea. Oh! And try the yogurt soda. It's weird (for a typical American palette) at first sip, but it's uniquely refreshing with the kabobs and meats. Came Sunday around 8:30, and the restaurant was about half full. They added Fessenjan as a special for a little bit. Excellent variation with super tender chicken and a great price (same as their other stews somehow.) Just call to see if they have it. The dill rice was good as well. Nicely light. Would recommend with a chicken kebob or something else light so it isn't overwhelmed. The ash reshteh is good as well with well made noodles and a more delicate broth than usual (I guess because of the much lighter kashk than usual.) I also tried another person's kebab which was good. In terms of dessert the Faloodeh and Bastani/saffron ice cream dessert are both excellent as well and plenty enough to share which makes the high price fine. The zoolbia bahmieh is interesting. Really good authentic Persian food. Suggest the following kebabs: koobideh, Bart or sultans (combo of both and slightly larger portion). They start you with a warm thin pita and green sauce plus yogurt cucumber sauce. I also suggest tag dog which is crispy rice topped with one of the stews. Ghemei os split pease and meat in tomato sauce, pretty easy for most people to enjoy and if you're feeling more adventurous go with ghormesabzi which is the national dish of Iran. Over the past few years, Pardis has easily become our favorite Ridgewood destination for dinner. Pardis does the perfect job of combining traditional and modern Persian dishes to make it an enjoyable dining experience for all diners, regardless of dietary restrictions and taste pallets. For those readers that are unfamiliar with Persian cuisine, it generally encompasses a wide variety of meats, from kebabs (ground meat and steaks), lamb chops, to smoked fish and shrimp that is usually accompanied with either plain or a specialty rice of your choice. The most coveted ingredients of Persian food range from pistachios and walnuts to pomegranate fruit, and of course, the key saffron and mint seasonings, which nowhere in the area reflects appropriately in each entree as effortlessly as Pardis. In addition to their homage to traditional dishes and development of modern fare, what has made Pardis such a coveted dining place for our family (and now friends!), is the consistency of the food and the service, both of which have never even come close to sub par. Omid, the owner of the restaurant, is always on the floor checking on tables and when he is not, he can be found in the kitchen overseeing the execution of every order.
