Paris Baguette has lost its allure to me. Over priced for what you get and not as good as the other similar style cafe/ pastry shops. At first this place was pretty awesome especially since they were one of the first spots to have Cronuts readily available but that fad has come and gone and they have not been able to stay relevant. Way more organized than 85 Degrees in Newark, but I still enjoy the taste and lower prices of Sheng Kee. I enjoyed their Belgian waffles, they're not as great as fresh made to order of course but they're crunchy yet soft in the middle and lightly dusted with powder sugar. You also taste a hint of vanilla. The pineapple bun pastry is square and looks like a honeycomb, there's cream all the way in the middle - middle end and some bits of pineapple. The Cronut I loved when I had it at their Palo Alto location years ago, but here not so much. It fell apart two (the two layers stacked). We also shared a iced vanilla latte which took about 10-15 minutes to make, which it didn't seem like the cue was that bad and one guy's sole job was just to make the drinks. 20% off drinks with Yelp check in. Franchise French Bakery with an Asian twist. Nicely located in downtown Millbrae. This place gets packed on the weekends. Overall plenty of seating. Good selection of pastries, sandwiches and drinks ranging from coffees espressos frappes smoothies and teas. Prices are a little more compare to 85 degrees. I got their ham and cheese sandwich fairly on the light end. Pretty tasty but nothing extraordinary. Tried the donut with cream cheese it's good little taster but I wish it was bigger for what it was. I've tried to go cakes here for special occasions. Really cute and presentable aesthetic wise and their cakes are not too sweet which I prefer. Overall good choice of bakery but would not go out of my way to get it read more

The lesson that I learned here is that if a place has 300+ reviews and an average of 2.5 stars, it may not be worth visiting haha. I came here twice and sadly both visits were disappointing. The first letdown is that it was hard to pick a pastry since some of them had flies on them. Once I did pick one that looked okay and checked out, the staff didn't warm it up even though I ordered it "for here" (this was pre-Covid). So I brought it back to the counter and asked if they can warm it up. They nicely agreed but only warmed it up half way, it was still cold on the inside. Despite this, I realigned my expectations and came back a second time because I just wanted to get a drink and study. This seemed like a cute place for that! Been coming to this place for a few times now, and I have to say their service have been on point every visit. Love how they make my cappuccino, smooth! I'm beginning to be a huge fan of Paris pastries! They have a buttery and flaky crust all in one that will make your mouth water. This location is huge and has plenty of seating, and there is one on the other end for a more intimate or group meeting. Paris is also easy to find and right next door to Trader Joe's and right across from Safeway Millbrae! You can also drop in and order special cakes for all occasions, or if they get busy, take advantage of their touch screen self service cake orders. Paris is more than just a bakery, they offer full service sandwiches and soups. One of my favorite is their Crab Salad Sandwich and Prosciutto & Fresh Mozzarella Cheese Baguette. The American version of Sheng Kee but a wider variety of selections. The bread are more on the buttery side although it's still good. Please is not cheap though; expect to pay close to $40 for a small cake (has nice presentation though). Their Cappuccino cake is pretty cute, it's the shape of a coffee cup.. This particular PB deserves a one star because of the staff, all the way from the lead down to the entry level staff. The reason I still come in to the bakery is that there are several pastries and bread that I do like and that the bakery had made an attempt to clean up the place. The thongs are no longer sticky and the trays have been cleaned after each use. I have hesitated writing a negative review after my several bad experiences patronizing from this particular location. However, this time I feel that the time has come for the better good of the community and the Paris Baguette brand name overall. I came in at a time when there were only one customer ahead of me. As usual, the service was slow. There were two cash registers open and several employees behind the counters were doing absolutely nothing. They looked at me with eye contact but did not bother to offer to ring me up. Since I was not in a rush, I didn't mind waiting. This wait and bad service was still not the reason to prompt this one star review. Maria, one of the lead staff was talking loudly near the baked goods counter with her friends. They were there chatting loudly and laughing away while she could be instructing one of the idle employees to help me. What upset me the most was, she let her face covering to go below her nose while talking loudly near the food. Once in a while, she pushed the face covering up, then touched her nose through the cloth mask. She repeatedly do this the entire time while I waited for my turn to be rung up. When her social time with friends were over, she went back behind the counter to work without gloves and continued to fix her mask and TOUCHED her nose. This was very disgusting in the time of Covid-19 pandemic. On one of my previous visits after the first SIP had been lifted, instead of trays, cardboard boxes were provided for customers to fill up with our purchase. I filled up my box and when I got up to the counter, Maria attended to me. She used her hands to take out all my baked goods and put them into a smaller box. She squeezed all my pastries and bread into the box. She then carefully put the larger box on the side. I called her out on it. I told her she was not supposed to save the box for the next customer since I had already touched it. Instead of telling me she won't reuse it, she reprimanded me for using the wrong size box. There are other PB locations that I could go to when I crave for the food. Due to the poor customer service from every single one of the staff and particularly the disgusting behavior of Maria, I will not return for a while. I hope the service will improve for the sake of the name Paris Baguette. read more

Pick up a birthday cake and bunch of other stuff I ordered online from the store yesterday 8/29/2020. This morning I opened a chocolate marble cake brought from the store yesterday, and it has molds on the cake, the expiration date is 8/24/2020... I am so speechless, how can I sell me a $20 cake with molds and long expired?? Called them, they said if I can go to the store they can replace it for free.. lol, that's so funny, isn't should be free?? Not even apologizing for their mistake first. Ever had a place that as soon as you entered you knew it would be good? Well Paris Baguette is that place. The delicious treats - everything was there from waffles to desserts. I was going to order coffee but I saw that they had smoothies and it was AWESOME! Probably one of the best smoothies I have ever had. Then I noticed the ice cream freezer!!!!! Hahahaha all sorts of varieties of ice cream on stick. Delicious and not overly sweet!!!!! I also ordered the ham, eggs and cheese croissant. It came with avocado and fruits. Just delicious!!!!!!! When I got my food someone said "that looks delicious " and believe me it was. I had a feeling that none of my meals would be as good as this place on my trip and I was right! This place is great!!!! Great Cakes! I ordered a custom cake for my sons baptism and was not disappointed. I asked for vanilla cake with fresh strawberries and pineapple filling and was great and fresh. All my family members loved it and really enjoyed that the cake wasn't as sweet as other cakes we've tried, which was a plus for us. The design was adorable perfect for the occasion. Amazing, beautiful food and service. The cashier was absolutely lovely while trying to help multiple people at once, making sure she was helping everyone as efficiently and kindly as possible. And the FOOD was stellar - I had two croissants and the strawberries were perfectly fresh and the almonds perfectly flaky. Even the packaged brownie was fresh, equally gooey and chewy. This is the only Paris Baguette I've frequented often since I live nearby, and service can be slow or quick depending on the day/time you go. I've never had any issues with this location personally. I will give 5 stars just for the food alone. Their pastries are yummy and decently priced, their cakes are my absolute favorite because they aren't sickeningly sweet, and their sandwiches - I highly recommend. I've tried the chicken salad sandwich (cold) and also the turkey mozzarella (hot). You can't go wrong by grabbing a quick and inexpensive lunch here, whether you go for a pastry or a sandwich! read more

They have mediocre desserts that look amazing and taste okay, and soggy premade sandwiches that aren't worth eating. I would say my current rating for this bakery is 3.5 stars, given the declining quality of breads as of late (described more below). I frequent this Korean bakery location regularly, probably more so post-COVID-19. It is one of the larger locations in the Bay Area, but I feel that the shelf space itself is kind of small for the overall space. There must have been a lot of space for people to enjoy the food indoors before, but it looks a bit lonely with sparse seating inside now. I was at this location most recently on Wednesday (10/7/20) and purchased mainly savory breads. All breads and pastries are sold in plastic bags/containers post-COVID, so no tongs or trays are available. Just pick them up with your hands or/and place in a folded corrugated box to take to the register. The food - I usually get its Hash Brown Bread. It is my go-to breakfast. It not only has a good-sized hash brown in it, but also ham, and (American) cheese. I would have preferred to have Swiss cheese or no cheese at all (read: Japanese = lactose intolerant to some degree), but I can usually deal since there isn't overabundance of cheese. This time, however, the bread wasn't very well made. It wasn't even covering the hash brown on the bottom. Had I eaten it by taking it out of the bag completely, the hash brown would have disintegrated in my hands. I also bought a Smoked Sausage Bread. This is made with a sweeter bread probably to balance out the stronger sausage flavor. These were better made this time, but I have seen some sad-looking ones lately that I couldn't get myself to buy in the past month or so. Finally, I also bought a token sweet bread, Sweet Potato Bread. The bread contains sweet potato paste (usually made with mashed sweet potatoes, cream, and sugar) inside. This one wasn't uniformly baked, either, but I was craving sweet potato, so I couldn't be too picky... It was tasty enough and satisfied my craving. Maybe they hired some new bakers, and they are still learning... Other yummy items: Mont Blanc, which would be a chestnut cake if it was sold in a Japanese bakery, but here, it is essentially a softer round croissant with frosting to make it look white. Although with clearly sugary frosting, it is not too sweet. Also, any of the fruit pastries here are good - Very Berry Pastry and the one that comes with kiwi, raspberry, strawberry, and orange are my favorites. These aren't always available, so get them when you see them. If you are thinking cake at all here, try the Chiffon Cakes. Yes, I know they are a little more expensive than other "shorter" cakes, but you won't go wrong by selecting any of them. My preference goes Blueberry, Green Tea, and then Chocolate. I usually love chocolate, but I find Asian chocolate cakes to be generally lacking in flavor. The cake part is exceptionally fluffy and tasty. And covered in whipped cream, instead of icing, which makes it not so sweet (and maintains the fluffy texture all around). Things NOT to get: Crab Meat Croquette - sounded like worth trying, but I was wrong. Inside (the crab meat substance, I guess) wasn't very good by itself but definitely did not go with the deep-fried bread outside. Garlic Sweet Potato Pastry(?) - I know it doesn't sound that great, but given my love for sweet potato, I tried. This is the case where sweet and savory did not have a good marriage. :( The service - It does tend to go slower than many bakeries, but I think it's because the patrons often don't know what they want, or ask too many questions. When I am at the register, it takes a short time to process my orders, so... I have experienced much slower service at its San Jose location, which was more due to the workers chatting with each other (but pre-COVID). read more

This is a review regarding my most recent visit, which was an entirely unpleasant one. I visited on a Friday morning and ordered two pastries. Everything was fine and like previous visits until I got to the payment register. A staff member wearing stripes but no name tag, an older Asian lady who didn't speak great English, rung me up. She was extremely distracted by another unsatisfied customer being rung up by another staff member who was wearing a black shirt with a name tag. I placed my credit card into the chip reader, but the lady did not notice because she was busy scolding and criticizing the staff members who were serving the customer next to me with a large order. About two minutes later, when she finally decided to focus on the customer she was serving (me), she asked me to pay in cash. I pointed out that I was paying with a credit card. She begrudgingly started the credit payment process. When I saw a receipt come out of the register, I assumed the transaction was complete, so I removed my credit card from the chip reader. She lost her mind when I did that. She printed out the voided receipt and demanded that I read it and take it. I calmly stated what I understood and what happened, with a sea of witnesses. At this point, I realized I made an honest mistake, but I was also being berated by a staff member. I should have left at this point, to avoid further nastiness from this lady and to get the long line moving. But I stayed to complete my purchase instead of walking out. At the end of my purchase, I asked this lady for her name. She refused to give it to me. Upon reading other reviews here, her name might be Julia, but unconfirmed. Needless to say, Paris Baguette needs a serious re-training for some staff members in the ABCs of customer service, even if she might be part of the ownership or management team. read more
