I don't usually go to Paris Baguette much, but today as I was driving back from Fremont after helping a friend move, I got a frantic call from my cousin. She works in the hospital and has an insane schedule. She intended to grab a cake from Paris Baguette but misremembered the time they closed, 8pm. She knew I lived close by and as a hail mary, asked if I happened to be able to grab it. I looked at the clock: 7:44pm. I was 10 min away so I said, "Technically..?? I guess I could make it. But just barely...and will they even have cakes left? ...well, I'll try." What is family for, right? As I parked and got out at 7:55pm, ready to sprint like a track star to Paris Baguette, I froze realizing I had already thrown away my sweaty mask from earlier helping my friend move... Yikes, how am I supposed to get in. Should I give up? Well I'm already here... I took off my hoodie and wrapped part of it around my mouth. As stupid as I looked, I was on a mission to get to the cake section. I took some pics of the cakes, one hand holding my phone and the other holding up my hoodie "mask". As I was in the middle of sending the pics to my cousin and asking her which cake to pick, a nice employee came over and offered me a mask :) she was REALLY sweet and I was pleasantly surprised and grateful, thanking her. My cousin texted back to get the green tea strawberry cake ($38) which looked simple but classy; she said she had it before and liked it a lot. As I was rung up by a friendly cashier, I finally took a breath having accomplished my mini "Amazing Race" mission. The atmosphere was calm and quiet. Some customers were still seated and some were still shopping. Employees were around starting to stack the chairs, but considering it was basically 8pm, they didn't seem to be impatient or in a hurry to kick everyone out. Even though they totally could. I had been ready to be yelled at for coming in asking for a cake at 7:55pm lol. Long story to say, I think the kindness and understanding of the employee to offer me a mask, as well as the relaxed atmosphere of the place even towards their closing time, left a memorable impression on me and was a great way to end the night. I had been coming here for years. Until I got the worst customer service. I bought a cake and as I'm walking out the door THEIR CAKE BOX HANDLE BROKE. My cake fell to the floor and was destroyed. I came right back into the store and told them what had happen. Did they care? NO! Did they even try to help? NO! Did they even try to resolve anything? NO! The "MANAGER" on the phone reviewed the cameras and she said it wasn't their fault that I would need to buy another cake. I was pregnant and was upset at the worst customer service. She told me to buy another cake. They did NOTHING for me. I left the destroyed cake there and they didn't nothing in return. $100+ dollars down the drain. THANKS FOR NOTHING!!!!!! Came here because it was my birthday and needed a cake and I didn't want a whole cake. They sell cakes by the slice here for about $5 a slice. Expensive but better than wasting 3/4 of a whole cake. Came after din we and most of the pastries they offer earlier in the day were already gone. Just some items like strawberry harmonicas, sweet rice donuts and apparently cronuts that I didn't see but seen another patron have it on his tray. Must be good since he was buying 2. I seen they had a pudding of some sort that looked interesting and comes in a cute little glass bottle. I wanted to try but was too scared. We bought a slice of blueberry chiffon, berry tart and a pistachio macaron. All delicious btw. Inside is spacious and clean. They seemed a tad understaffed but could be because they were almost at closing time. I believe I seen like 4 employees in there. One stocking, one tinkering with the coffee machine who looked like the manager possibly, one ringing and one going in and out from the kitchen. I come to this store almost every week to get pastries, bread and cakes. The cakes were very good but the breads are just ok. I'll give it a 3.5 stars for the most part. This review is for the one incident that I'm extremely upset about. I bought half a loaf of bread along with 5 other items (croissants, pastries) on Thursday (12/7) afternoon. Had one slice on Friday for breakfast and on Saturday, I noticed a mold in the bread. I brought it back to the store. And the lady was giving me a look as if this is normal! She said "but you bought it on Thursday and today is Saturday!" And then she showed me the date stamp at the bottom of the bag "12/7" and educated me that this is the expiration date -- in other words, on the day I buy the bread it already expired. Why are you selling expiring bread on the day?? She said go to Safeway, they sell bread like this. Safeway is a grocery store, you're a bakery. I'd expect fresh bread from a bakery. And if it's day old bread or expired bread, you should put it in a different pile and clearly mark it as "expired or day old bread". They just put "12/7" and assume customers know that means expired on 12/7!! It could mean bake date or pack date. Even Safeway or Costco clearly mark "best before mm/dd" What I'm so pissed at is that there was absolutely no apology. It's like it is my fault I bought expired bread and couldn't finish it before it got molded. She went inside to get her manager out. And again no apology from the manager. Told me they'll replace the bread for me this one time and don't forget to check the date next time. I wanted to say I'll never come back here ever again. But that's unfortunately not likely. Came here for a quick brunch with the husband. Very wide variety of pastries, sandwiches and drinks. You can self serve their pastries and order drinks/coffee and hot sandwiches at the register. Very good amount of seating. Great customer service as well. Located right near Safeway and Trader Joe's in Millbrae so parking is easy and it's close to a lot of other shops. I wait patiently for my coffee it comes, and I taste it, and it tastes like a cold, watered-down plain coffee. I let the young lady know that it was not good. She remakes it again. There is not much improvement. I take my coffee and go because I really don't want trouble. I go to my car to start eating my Slice of soufflé and at the end, I see what looks like eyelashes in the box. I am so deflated right now. I totally understood it might be understaffed during COVID-19 but I want to share my experience with this location. (I have visited over 6 PB in Bay Area.) First, it was slow. It took them almost 10 minutes to serve one customer. It might be lack of training or something but somehow the line is getting long when I visited around 11:40 am last Sunday. Second, when I tried to order the macaron set, they did not have enough variety. I am fine with that assuming they might not made that many during Covid-19. But when I asked can I have the discount if I ordered 4 macaroons. The staff just told me No. Very interesting... Third, they did not pack nicely for the little macaroons. They did not have individual paper/wrapper separate them. After I got home, they were kind of smashed. I bought the big macaroons too and they were fine in plastic bags. Last, I saw a staff smoking in front of the store once during Covid-19 (not the same Sunday). I totally understood they entitled to their breaks but it just made me skip going to the store that day. TL;DR - Spacious, not as many pastries like I didn't see as many savory ones. This is a great spot because it's surprisingly spacious. Theres a mini patio area where you can get the windows opened. The inside is quite large with tons of tables and seats. I enjoyed my turkey avocado sandwich, and my husband said he wishes his egg salad sandwich had more egg salad. This place didn't seem to have as many savory pieces though. Overall, enjoyable. read more

I have been to this place twice. The first time service was ok and fast. Today we bought two egg tarts, which was $4 each. The staff did not wrap the pastries or offerer to do it. After we asked if we can have a bag, he just handed us an empty bag and then left the counter. I've been to multiple Paris Baguette in Northern and Southern California. I've never had this kind of service before. Not to mention that all the pastries are way over priced. You really to train your employee to provide good services to customers. Holy sweetness...this place is amazing. Coconut cream croissant is my new favorite! Anyone familiar with east coast pastries...it reminds me of the Lobster Tail from Mike's is Boston. I've been to this location twice. I haven't sat down and enjoyed the ambiance yet but it seems pretty chill. There are usually a lot of people in here, but not crowded to the point where it's bothersome or overwhelming. I like the pastries here. There are mostly sweet pastries and some savory. The first time I visited was to pick up a few random things for a friend to offer for morning brunch. This most recent time I stopped by on a whim to get some sweets for my sweet & I. Both times there was only 1 person in line before me. I look forward to doing some work here one day and just chill. Customer service is nice. Not overly talkative nor do they ignore. I haven't been to this location in years. Bought 2 slices of cake - mango coconut and strawberry cream. The strawberry cream was nice but the mango coconut had a fishy taste (yuck!). Think the fishiness was from the coconut cream. It made the cake very unpleasant to eat. Also, they didn't use ripe mango. The mango pieces were hard, borderline crunchy, and wasn't sweet at all. Paris baguette is a Korean chain so there are many locations. This location is big and spacious, and because it's in a shopping plaza, there is plenty of parking. The different breads, pastries, and cakes are solid, bakery goods of fusion of French and asian style - all pretty good! The toasted items are really good and they come with a side salad. It's overall a nice cafe with good food options. Coffee is meh but can easily walk over and get something from Starbucks or Peet's. The disappointing thing is that although their opening hour is 7am, they aren't punctual. We got there at 7:05am and the lights were off, maybe only a fourth of shelves had pastries, door was cracked open but no staff in sight. We decided to go elsewhere instead. I have been coming to this Paris Baguette bakery location in Millbrae for many years and it's probably time I write a review as I should have enough experience to rate this bakery. This is actually a pretty large location with lots of seating and it isn't stuffy inside. They sell fresh sandwiches, fresh baked bread, individual pastries, packaged foods, and of course cakes, which are light, delicious, and not too sweet, which is perfect for me. If you enjoy dense, sugary cakes with lots of frosting this is not the place for you. This is a Korean style bakery so expect asian themed pastries with ingredients like red beans and taro. I also enjoy their daily baked fresh bread, pre-sliced and packaged for you to take home. Their cakes are a bit pricey though. Service is usually quick so I don't have any complaints with the service I have received over the years. Parking is easy across the street in a large parking lot. There are also other shops, including a Safeway and Starbucks nearby. read more

Stumbled upon this gem of pastry goodness and I had to let you know what you've been missing if you haven't been here. I'm not a big coffee drinker so I can't rate that part of the store but the fresh baked goods are too good to pass up. They offer many different types of fruit flavored pastry that are hard to resist. From tarts to red bean stuffed buns along with sandwiches for a quick lunch are offered. I had purchased a Strawberry/ Chocolate cake for the family and Wow it was so delicious. The cake was baked nice and soft with fresh fruit. The cream along with the cake just melted in your mouth. The staff is nice and helpful if you have any questions. Inside seating along with semi outdoor seating is available. This location is very spacious inside and looks like a perfect place to hang out and enjoy your goodies. If you like top of the line baked goods for a reasonable price make a stop here. read more

WHEN: Sunday @ 11:30am Decent experience. I completely forgot how expensive Paris baguette bakery is compared to Chinese bakeries like 85 degree, happy sunmery. The quality of bakery food was very high quality. There's a lot of croissants with ham, cheese, hotdogs. Lots of cakes, puddings, breakfast, lunch sandwiches. WHAT I ORDERED Croissant with cream filling $3.50 Croissant with hotdog (toasted) $3.95 Slightly more expensive than my usual Chinese bakery food. For the croissant it was worth it. I liked my croissant hotdog breakfast. The terrace seating was beautiful. The windows were open so my friends and I chatted for a bit there. Came here after having dinner at 16 mile house. After walking in i noticed dirty tables and about 3 employees. One at the cash register, one stocking, and one messing around with the coffee machine. The line to me seemed manageable however the customer service was non existent. We already knew what we wanted but no one came to the display cases when we got there after waiting in line. I did notice other people got helped but oh well. Everything we wanted was in the display cases. We had to wait until we reached the cashier. Once there the employee tinkering with the coffee machine decided to ask if anyone else needed help as the line got longer. We ordered pistachio macaron, Berry tart, and blueberry chiffon cake. All which tasted great as i have come to expect from here, however the customer service needs help. Very disappointed with their lack of service. Ordered a sandwich online and noted, " No Cheese & extra Mayo." This is the 2nd time all instrutions have been ignored. When I asked the cashier about it, she said, "We don't do that anymore." Then take off the special info box on the order site. Workers are not helpful, curt, and just want to move on. Takes a long time to get served though a number of workers behind the counter & around. Bathrooms are in need of cleaning & resupplying whenever I go. The thing that I do like is the baguettes. My go to for all my cakes and pastries! If you want a specific cake, make sure to reserve it ahead of time in case they run out. I usually order mine a day or two beforehand and pick it up in the morning. They have plenty of different and delicious cakes you can choose from. The cakes also are not super sweet which is another great thing. The cake prices aren't cheap but it's worth it. The bakery also is pretty delicious and fresh if you go in the morning. I haven't gone during the day time so I don't have anything to say about that. I notice that there's usually only one cashier which slows down the process of everything. They should definitely step up with hiring more people to work the front especially morning hour rush! Other than that, I will be back again to order more cakes! read more

The can't speak to the bread but the drinks were pretty bad. I dropped by because I was shopping at Safeway across the street and wanted to get some breakfast for me and my fiance. I decided to just get coffee since the bread and pastries were pretty pricey for what they were. I ended up ordering a matcha latte and a hazelnut cold brew. I'm not sure if it's because the barista was new or what but she seemed really lost as she was making it. I didn't think much of it but when I tasted the drinks once I got home, they were both PURE SUGAR WATER. I'm not kidding there was no coffee or matcha taste to any of my drinks but just chemically tasting sugar water. The mango pieces were decorated beautifully but the mangoes had a fishy taste. It was probably cut with knife that did the tuna sandwiches or the cutting board wasn't clean very well. I thought it was only my piece but most of the guest ate the tart & left the mango pieces! We never have left overs when it comes to Paris Baguette's cakes... but this time no one wanted it! My first visit to the Millbrae Paris Baguette Cafe. Only one, single, solitary tongs available for customer use. Kind of surprising given the signage on every pasty case door and sneezeguard over six different areas advising the customer to use them. Weirdly confusing I'm the way the a politician says things they do not really believe in. Everything here has a sweet and sticky coating. Not my idea of the perfect croissant. If you are looking for a plain excellent croissant the look elsewhere. But if you want the sweet coating then at least the croissant itself is good. The cappuccino is decently passable. But then it was fresh made However, coffee here is lukewarm at best. If you are a coffee person I advise you to have coffee at some other location. I hung around for a while and never saw the coffee area serviced. The coffee area itself needs to be laid out better as well. I pity the person who might come here during a rush in the morning. They will be in a human traffic jam. The cheesecake here is not bad at all. It Is a slice that has a light and even texture topped with fresh strawberry half and raspberry. The size is kind of small for the $5 price. When served it comes presented on a big standard paper plate. The lack of a Chinese option destroys the presentation. So I put the overall value somewhat sub-par for slice of cheesecake on the peninsula. Paris Baguette Cafe also one the few businesses serving average pastries and cakes (cheesecake) with signage telling the customer not to take pictures. Could it be related to the lack of tongs? One thing at Paris Baguette Cafe the is simply the worst is the WiFi. It's supposedly available. The WiFi password is the same as the phone number. But the local authorization portal is not setup. So there is really no public WiFi access at all. Overall Paris Baguette Cafe is not the worst business of its type have been to. They even get my vote as a passable alternative for a croissant over almost every other chain name business. But they have areas needing improvement. Even so, give Paris Baguette Cafe in Millbrae a try. read more
