The sandwich portions are HUGE and more complex than what you can find at a normal sandwich place. You'll need a few minutes with the menu here (or look in advance is what I recommend to optimize your choice of sandwich). If you're not into sandwiches, their hummus platter is surprisingly amazing. Like how special can a hummus platter be? Well it's pretty special and comes with roasted red peppers, olives, feta, and some nice pita. It's a pretty big portion size for 2, so would recommend it for a slightly larger group. And speaking of non-sandwiches, the Marrakesh is also delicious. The crispy eggplant on top is out of this world perfectly crispy and flavored. It's not trying too hard to be something special, but that's part of what makes it so special. Not what it used to be. The Parish Cafe used to be one of my wife's and my favorite places to have lunch in the Back Bay. We found the food to be consistently good, the service to be excellent, as well as its location. We would almost always eat outside on the patio - enjoying the friendly and casual energy of servers and patrons. We had lunch at the Parish a couple of days ago - and while the service was still quite good - a friendly "can do" energy among all - the food was not as good as it used to be. I'm so glad I went to this place for my late lunch. I checked in my hotel nearby late and was looking for something quick to eat. This place was the closest cafe and I just walked there. The tomato bisque even came with some fried mozzarella in it and it added so much flavor. I tried a bit of my friends hummus platter and it was a bit different. Usually you just get an assortment of vegetables along with pita bread to dip into the hummus but this time it was a more composed dish. Sliced roasted tomatoes and onions were the accompaniments as well as a sizable amount of feta cheese. Mixed together on the peta bread it was delicious and recommended as a vegan option.
