First time in Jersey last Saturday and Park Wood was indeed my first stop. Very clean shop. Great selection of drinks, chips, cookies, in addition to all of their sandwiches. I ordered the Francesca. Got a 16 in pizza and a couple sandwiches.. This is NOT a fast food sandwich joint. This is the real deal. Ingredients that mesh perfectly. Salivating thinking about. After the first bite. Stopped in to try this place out and in turn, was disappointed. I got the "NY Jets" sandwich. I finished half in three bites, not cause I was starving, but because that's all the size allowed for. I was surprised by the one or two lousy pieces of overcooked chicken cut up on a tiny piece of bread, given the social media following the owner portrays. I found this place in yelp and decided to give this place a try since my husband and I were in need of place to find while we were heading to the beach. I liked in how the cold cuts was boars head , nice quality meats. I usually wait until my husband orders and I usually get the same order as him but I decided to get the boss sandwich and I made a mistake , something about the sandwich the taste was off and I didn't like in how they used package cut up ham pieces instead of throwing in a real piece of ham. Another thing that is really my pet peeve is I found multiple hair in my sandwich along in my hash brown which I was not happy with. What a classic and unique place, Jersey -style 100%. We had six different deli sandwiches and subs including Bronx Bomber and Eggplant Parm. Hot fries too. Very good but as a Philadelphia deli child, my five stars are reserved for the very best. I was raised on top-of-class hoagies and cheesesteaks. These were very good however and you should go here. Are it about 25 mins after picking it up and the bread was pretty soft at that point. I think the flavor is good. The broccoli rabe definitely took away from it. Is it my fav sandwich? Cannot believe this place has only 3.7 stars. I understand people are more motivated to rate when they feel negative, but this place is nothing but incredible for a neighborhood slice joint and deli. Moved in from NYC in may of 2018 and we joked that we wished we could get a tally of how much we spent that year as we renovated our home, they were our kitchen when we didn't have a kitchen. Really amazing grandmas pie and getting a plain cheese fresh out of the oven and tearing into it is an experience. I love that it is right in our neighborhood. I have a confession to make. I strolled back into the doors of Park Wood Deli this very afternoon and ordered a NY Jet on a round roll. After the disappointment that was my sandwich last year, my hopes remained low. I had to let my previous, 2-star review simmer, but most importantly, I needed time for the fame of Parkwood's "Deli Guy" dwindle away to nothingness. Would a more humble deli atmosphere create a better sandwich? The answer lies in between the buns. I'll admit the first bite was YEARS better than the last sandwich. The bread made the entire difference - softer and warmer. My mouth was enthused. However, by no means did this sandwich knock my Yankees socks off, and I do dare say this establishment needs to rework. Chewing the chicken felt like what must be trying to eat a bouncy ball as a Kindergartener. I was sorely disappointed. The ranch and buffalo sauce left on my fingers post consumption was minimal and I sat down to write this review without so much as a wipe of a napkin. After a sandwich with this much cholesterol, I want to feel like a pig in the mud after ten inches of rain, not a Michelin taster sampling a mediocre bite sized portion. Help. Me. Feel. Something. I still would like to wish Park Wood the best. I see many patrons come in and out of this place often, and it's clear they are still loved in the Ridgewood/Midland Park community. Roger that! Im so disappointed in this place recently. We used to order here all the time and never have a problem. The food was always good. We ordered tonight and it was disgusting. The pizza was cold like it's been sitting out for hours. And the fries were the worst I've ever had / seen. They weren't even full pieces of fries and they were SOAKED in oil. We couldn't even eat them. The kids got Rice Krispies ( the homemade ones ) and they were completely stale. On top of it all, they dropped off the food outside with no knock on the door, nothing and walked away. I had no idea the food was even outside. I had to call because I never paid and it's wrong to just take food like that. The employees didn't communicate anything to one another and the deliver driver thought it was paid for. Running back and forth to the car because he came with no receipt and had to call the front counter girl to ask about the amount it was and she didn't even know. Like was a disaster.
