Had my brake pads and rotors changed. Came in for an oil change previously and guys were telling me my brake pads were about to go and needed to be replaced within a month or so. They told me changing pads only will last couple of years at most or changing rotors as well will last lot longer, but with added cost. Guys were upfront about repair costs and made it a lot easier decision to make. With so many auto shops being ambiguous about parts and labor cost it's a welcoming and refreshing change. Obviously I'm no mechanic, but work seems to be very professional. Definitely recommend coming here for another service. read more

Wow! These guys are amazing! Smart, honest and kind! I found them on Yelp and I can now say...the reviews are true! I was having a strange combination of issues with my '04 Volvo. Charlie was patient in listening to the issues. They went ABOVE AND BEYOND to get this resolved. They repaired a broken tailgate latch and headlight for which I paid a very fair price. But, in addition, these guys spent hours of their time to do a follow up diagnosis of an electrical issue. They found the cause and presented me with options on how to resolve it. There was no pressure or sales tactics to attempt to persuade me to go with expensive options. I will never bring my car anywhere else! Called upon Parkside to take care of my safety check and emissions. While there they found that my rear brake seals were leaking and my front end had lost the stabilizers. Being somewhat skeptical I quickly did search for the problems and my car - sure enough if was a known issue to have the seals leak when the car reached around 80k miles. Even better, I now knew the average price to have them repaired. They quoted me in the exact range I already knew it would cost to fix and had it all done by the next day. When I came back to pick up my car, they had been able to cut back on the number of labor hours - saving me some money. I will take my car back to Parkside if anything else ever seems wrong. Ive been meaning to update this post but I got caught up with work so, it'll have to do now: During the past winter a HUGE snow storm hit New York and my car broke down. Being surrounded by snow I started digging myself out and, going through my phone looking for friends/ family to help me. With my nearest family member 45 minutes out, I conceded and started looking for a tow truck company. Right before I'm about to call a private tow truck company I googled, I see Parkside's phone number in my contacts. I figured that maybe someone on the staff or Charlie (the young guy who helped me last time) could point me in the right way and since I had no problem without an appointment last time I knew I wanted to bring my car into Parkside to get it looked at (at the very least). After a 10 minute phone call and a short wait: Charlie's father (also named Charlie) came to where I was and took care of me. I wound up not having to pay for a tow truck and had all the work done all in one shot. Charlie's father was just as friendly/positive/ out going as Charlie himself was (and most importantly going out of the way to make sure I was 100% satisfied and my car 100% safe). I brought in my son's 2012 Jeep for a routine inspection while he was out of town. Was told that all the fluids were low and that it would require a new rack and pinion steering mechanism for "no less than $1500", and therefore the vehicle failed inspection. My son returned home and got a second opinion. Of course everything was fine (fluids were not even low) and it passed inspection with flying colors (as it should for such a new vehicle). The Parkside guy told me that "Big Brother" watches him and he was once fined $5000 for passing a vehicle that had a tiny nick in the wiper blade. I doubt NYS actually sets up cameras at every inspection station and the more I think about it, it sounds like a scare tactic to me. Regardless, if your wipers are nicked, brake pads are low, headlights misaligned or any other slight thing, I'd look for another place and stay away from these scammers! I guess the fun part of it is that at least he thought I was worth $1500 and not a silly pair of wiper blades! read more

These guys are top notch. I wouldn't feel safe bringing my car anywhere else in Brooklyn. They treat you like family when you come in. Their business model seems to be more about building loyalty with customers than trying to squeeze every penny out of their customers. It's a good business model because I won't take my care anywhere else. They are completely upfront about all charges when you come in and they call you before doing anything extra that they didn't anticipate. In addition, they've done simple things on my car for no charge (like installing a license plate bracket). They're just genuinely honest and nice guys. Their shop is located between two other shops on the same block, so make sure that you have the right place. read more

Service was great, got our car in quickly for brake repairs, an oil change, and inspection. The staff was friendly. The price seems a bit high however. The markup on the parts was at least 100% over what I could have gotten the higher grade parts at AutoZone. And the cost for the oilchange portion was $55. Maybe this is typical for the area, but I'll probably shop around next time before getting $1000 of auto work done. read more

Parkside checked it out.... told me I needed nothing done, and didn't even charge me. A few months later my brakes started sounding funny... We recently had our car taken to Parkside for body work after it was hit, and they just did an absolutely FANTASTIC job fixing it! The car has been hit before and I thought previously that the repair job looked great, but these guys just took it to another level altogether! Our getting-kinda-old car looks and drives practically like new. Not only did they go out of their way to try and find new replacement parts, they also went as far as cleaning it, restoring the hazy headlights and I could not be happier! I'm really disappointed at the turn of events here. I had come here a twice to get my old car inspected. They were always efficient and nice. Five stars for the past experiences. When I called to bring my new car in to replace the brakes (again, on my NEW CAR), the son quoted me an obscene amount for the front brakes and rotors. Not knowing much about cars and trusting them since I'd come here in the past and had great experiences, I agreed to bring it in; however, when I told my husband, he couldn't fathom why the rotors would be changed on a brand new car and called them back to have them explain. He indicated something about the warranty - that there won't be a warranty on the brake pads if the rotors aren't replaced together. That replacing the rotors was optional was never communicated to me. And, ultimately this was not good enough of an excuse for me to fork over an additional $500+ to replace a part that was perfectly functional and, again, new. It felt like price gouging on an unsuspecting customer (me) who doesn't know anything about cars and car maintenance. Needless to say, I haven't been back here. I went across the street to Holy Land to get the brakes replaced; they never suggested replacing rotors and thought it was unusual that it was suggested in the first place since the car was brand new. read more

I want to give a low enough rating to be noticeable, AND I want to qualify my review by saying I'm SUSPICIOUS of being overcharged, but I CAN'T SAY FOR SURE. The final amount didn't seem right though. They charged me about $325 with tax for a job that sounded like almost all diagnostic, without much labor at all and barely anything for parts either. Something had gotten whacked with the electrical system, which sounded like it mostly took some re-setting. When I nicely balked, they explained how the diagnostic services cost more than the labor. From what their repair guy had described, this seemed to be "fairly" easily fixed. So, at most I would guess this as a $200 job. The son Charlie seemed super nice and honest, but somehow the father stepped in at the end and it made me uncomfortable. He was not involved at all before, and all of a sudden he was asking me what had been quoted, which I wasn't sure about. And then he finalized the price. I think I was obviously balking, and wanted to finish up with Charlie. For me, this is just was not a usual business practice, and I didn't know how to refuse. I had my car inspected there recently and had gotten a great vibe from them, and a talk with Charlie about the type of business they had and the importance they put on honesty. But this experience did make me wary. read more

This place is like the good old garage of nthe 60's...My wife and I were in town for our daughters birthday and stayed directly across the street in the Holiday Inn Express.The entire weekend was the coldest I have been in years--Zero, wind chills in the minus zero and I parked my car on the street for 2 days and did not move it...or START it. We prepared to leave and ..NOTHING from the battery. Dead as a doornail. While my wife is on hold with AAA for about 50 minutes, I spy the Parkside and go over to ask for some help.The young guy at the counter, later I found out it was the owner, Charley jr., says " Sure, let me get my portable battery charger, goes out, starts it quickly, I ask How Much? he says, "NOTHING, my pleasure". I can't say enough about the service and quality at Parkside. I've been here twice now for an oil change and to check out some ignition issues I was having. Both times the guys advised me not to invest in any parts unless the issues persisted. Most recently, I took my car in because my check engine light had come on, and I was advised to put higher quality gas in my tank inside of doing some expensive diagnostic, which totally resolved the issue! When I went to pick up the car, I was told it would be no charge and to call back if it happened again! These guys are amazing. They go the extra mile time and time again. My problem was reoccurring and through their research (lengthy I might add - hours of phone calls) they discovered that this reoccurring problem was the result of a recall that they basically tracked down the only person at Toyota National (b.c local had no clue) that knew about the recall.
