We've been here a few times as it's the heartiest spot to eat in Stinson after hiking in the area. It's usually pretty poppin' but the wait has never been more than 30 minutes. We usually get a coffee at the spot next door (maybe same ownership? Can't recall) and wait until they have a spot available. Last time we went I was craving pizza so badly! They have a lot of different types of pizzas, but they are ONLY TO-GO. But we were already sitting down and ordering other food. DON'T BOTHER ! If you MUST give them your business, then I strongly urge a "take out" pizza OR go to the snack bar for something. We went to the restaurant mostly because NOTHING else in town was open on that day/time. We sat outside because we had our little dog. We were bothered by many bees and the waitress said there wasn't another table, but clearly there was. We should have been more aggressive about that. My husband ordered Scallops special. It was VERY good and cooked to perfection. No bread was offered (w/o charge) so he was unable to really enjoy the sauce except to drink it. I ordered fish and chips. HORRIBLE, as others have said. Not only was it VERY greasy (and lacking flavor) my fries were so hard that it seemed I got potato chips instead. Burnt, WAY overcooked. And $32 !! Not worth it at all. A fast food place would have done better. But there's none around, and that's nice for Stinson. Before leaving I went to the on-site Market. I bought two turkey sandwiches (pre-made). Thank God we had those later in the evening. Much better, but very expensive. I also went to the snack bar window to get something to go with morning coffee. I bought 4 donuts, a piece of pumpkin bread and a piece of lemon loaf. The pumpkin bread was good. The cinnamon sugar donuts were a total GREASE bomb. What is wrong with the chef and cook staff that EVERYTHING is so greasy here ? The donuts were so horrible we had to toss them into the trash (which is pretty bad cause I love donuts). We didn't even try the lemon loaf. It's in the freezer. Hopefully it will be OK. Overall, this place is NOT good and it cost us close to $100 to find out. We considered it our "donation" to the local economy. We heard that the pizza is good. PERHAPS if we ever return we might give it a try. It's unfortunate that this establishment does not allow one to come in for a mimosa and salad/appetizer. After sitting down and ordering I was told that I had to order a full meal or I would not be served and they asked me to leave. The waitress was not very friendly and said due to the high traffic that this was not allowed. The restaurant had 3/4 of the tables still open, so this reasoning made no sense. The bread pudding was, ok - could've used more flavor (maybe some cinnamon, sugar, butter). The seafood hot plate was delicious (can't remember the name) my daughter loved the avocado pasta. The raw oysters were delicious.The calamari was really good - it comes with a white and a red sauce, the white sauce was our favorite- we could've used two white sauces instead. We didn't see this until after we ate, but the park side snack bar is connected to this place and has the same food for HALF the price. Food and service were good, but we felt completely duped seeing the snack bar after we paid $30 per entree for not that big portions. About $170 (plus $38 tip - before we were upset) for lunch for four with one drink each. I would never go back. **The host (Aiden) tried to make my 84 yr old disabled/ blind father (with a white stick) go from the table in the restaurant to a line that had formed outside in the cold to come back inside in order to use the restroom! 2.5, but not feeling too generous to round up. This is my 1st time coming to Stinson Beach and let's just say food options are limited in this area for a random Thursday late morning in mid-October. I opted for outdoor patio seating due to the gorgeous weather. I had the spinach mushroom pasta and it looked better than it tasted. The entree was way too salty to where I actually didn't want to take the leftovers. I also had bites of the chicken bacon sandwich, which was overly greasy on rubbery parts of the chicken. The french fries of the other entree were the best part of this meal. Service was ok, seemed slightly short-staffed as many people started filling up the patio area. An industrial-sized fan had to be turned on to keep the annoying gnats away. Other patrons wanted the fan turned off, but per management's rules, fan stays on. Prices are higher than expected for this type of food, but since there's really no competition in the area, Parkside Cafe can charge whatever they want and I'm sure it's not easy getting food supplies to this part of the coast. I was a little skeptical about this place due to reviews, but there's not many options (esp open at the time I went) when staying in Stinson. To my pleasant surprise everything was great, from the food to the staff I encountered. Granted, I was the first person there, but the food was yummy (got the eggs, rice, and beans for bfast and the apple smoothie to go) and my waiter was polite and attentive. Delicious crab Benedict, excellent, high quality bacon, and the most delicious homemade habanero sauce I've ever had. They make a great Blood Mary with soju, as well, Service is warm and impeccable, and the cafe itself is very cute as pretty whitewashed wood and a fireplace. Today I was at Stinson beach volunteering at a race & stopped by Parkside cafe for a coffee, check out their menu and restroom stop. The manager was so rude and not very customer friendly! I wasn't asked to be seated so walked to the restroom. He literally followed me to the restroom to say "it's for customers only" also, waited close to the door to mention I was "disrespectful" for using their restroom. It was humiliating and a complete turn off so left in disbelief what had taken place. Waiter made me wait outside the restaurant until the bathroom was empty. We ordered pizza and a salad, were told pizza only to go, salad only for dine in because the pizza takes too long. There are not many choices to eat at Stinson Beach, especially before 10:30. Large patio of picnic tables here and dog friendly. Clam chowder (5 star), French Toast 4.5 stars & I can't remember the other thing. Come at 11am & you can choose from both the breakfast & lunch menus. Nice outdoor patio, good food but very expensive. Didn't have any free water, even tap, you had to purchase bottles, which they said was due to Covid. Only waters they had were $6. Also didn't let us use the bathroom and made us go across the street to the public park Porta potty, pretty absurd seeing how much everything cost. I understand wanting to keep your staff safe during Covid but no free water or bathroom is something basic that needs to be offered. read more

Came here after a hike. Despite the upscale outlook, the service remains subpar. Seated us indoor and it costs nearly $20 for a burger. We've requested for the burger to be sliced in half, and the waiter responded with, "I'll bring you a knife." Completely baffled at the level of customer service provided when charging nearly $20 for a burger. Wow. This place was a whirlwind of issue after issue. I agree with many other reviews that the staff is rude, the food is expensive/not that good, and no one seems to want to be there. Myself and a few friends drove into Stinson earlier in the morning, and I decided to get a coffee around 830 or 9ish. We didn't wait in line very long, and there were only a handful of people, but the woman working there was rushing around like there was a huge crowd. She was generally rude with me but had a weird interaction with the group behind me in line. While I waited off to the side for my coffee, the next few people were ordering. Once again she seemed incredibly scatterbrained and altogether too busy to bother with them (even though it was relatively dead). She started to get frustrated with the customers and would have them repeat their order multiple times because she would start doing something else while they were talking and then get the order wrong. Another major issue are the oddly restrictive rules of the restaurant. The restroom is for customers only, which isn't uncommon, but you have to be currently seated to use the restroom. Even if you have eaten there, bought something, or are waiting to be seated, you are not allowed to use the restroom. I was forced to walk around the small town and eventually found a portable restroom while my friends waited in line for food. I came back and asked if they had somewhere I could wash my hands (since there had been no hand sanitizer or soap) and was turned away. While the guy was respectful enough he said if I wanted to wash my hands I had to walk back down to the beach. Mind you, I had followed their "rules" and found somewhere else to use the restroom, I just wanted to wash my hands! Overall it was just plain dehumanizing and incredibly frustrating. I'm also realizing after reading some more reviews that this guy was stationed outside to act as a bouncer of sorts so you couldn't enter the restaurant unless they brought you in. It wasn't until later in the day that we ordered food. Two of my friends are vegetarians, and one doesn't eat certain meat due to religious/cultural reasons. We all ordered grilled cheese sandwiches (two veggie and two chicken). After we left and started to open our sandwiches, my friend with religious restrictions realized that her order was completely wrong and could not eat it. My sandwich was correct, so I switched with her. However, the sandwich she had originally received was sooooo salty and just not edible (though that could always just be my opinion). read more

So, I took a few minutes break from motorcycling N on 1 at Parkside. I purchased an overpriced burrito, sat an a bench next to the entry to the restaurant, and washed the burrito down with an eco tin of overpriced water. Food and drink all gone I needed a restroom to freshen up. I asked the host/waiter standing at the door where the restroom was. No one aside from three employees was in the restaurant. The host said restrooms were for seated customers only as he pointed at a sign taped to the door stating "Restrooms are for Seated Customers Only" and pointed toward Hawaii to indicate where I could find a restroom. Nature was calling. I said "I am a seated customer. You saw me. I was sitting right there on the blue bench." When he left to take care of customers in the outdoor patio I walked in and used the restroom. I knew what the sign was meant to say, "Restrooms for Restaurant Customers Only." I'm just a stickler for common sense and good business practices. On a packed summer day "Restrooms for "Restaurant Customers Only" but on this day with all tables void of customers I would have said "The restrooms are for restaurant customers only but no one's here. Go ahead. Thanks for your business. Then I would have given myself 5 Stars. Parkside gets 2. One for overpriced burritos and 1 for a dolt with no common sense. We ate at the restaurant last year and it was weird. There was a drought, so the only water available was bottled and expensive. Food was pretty good, service wasn't great, price was on the high side. Just now we were in the area and wanted coffee. Couldn't think of another option for a latte so we went out of our way and stopped by their counter. Definitely not worth it. The preparation was fine, but the quality of the coffee was what I would expect from a automatic gas station self serve machine. Giving three stars because options are very limited in this area. Though I live in west marin, I never really make it out to Stinson much. My partner and I decided on a quick day trip for lunch and we're both so glad we did. So nice and mostly local and quiet on a random Tuesday. They have the cutest patio outside though I had to ask to have the outdoor heaters lit it was a bit chilly - they can't help the weather though. We had the oysters au gratin , which is AMAZING and something I've not seen on the menu anywhere which was a nice surprise, the burger, and the fish tacos. (Sorry no photos we ate it too fast ) Parking can probably be a pain , hence my visiting the area so infrequently , but a chilly quiet weekday provided us with something right out front. Stopped in on a rainy day with my fiancée and had the best clam chowder I've ever had - the toasted crostini and fresh clams on top were excellent. The bread with house-made pesto is incredible as well. You can tell that the culinary team put a lot of care into the design and execution of the menu, as everything shows an appreciation for quality ingredients and thoughtful execution. Even the raspberry lemonade was made to order, tasting super light and fresh. The staff were courteous and friendly both at the cafe and the market. To top it off, the cafe was nicely decorated, minimal but cozy. Unfortunately, Parkside is very overpriced for okay food. $26 for a pesto chicken sandwich that was lackluster and bland. $7 for a cup of vanilla soft serve. Stinson beach is an amazing place to visit, but has limited food options. Parkside cafe definitely charges a premium for a place to sit down and eat. Parkside also has a coffee shop window and a fast food window. There are long lines for both options, but they look like better bets than the sit down restaurant. We visited here recently for pizza and pastries from the takeout counter, and were very happy customers. We got two slices with fresh grape tomatoes, arugula and parmesan, which they heated up for us on order. The crust was thick and crispy and all the toppings were fresh and flavorful. For pastry, I asked the counterperson for direction and he suggested the cinnamon donut. WOW, this donut was really really good! I wish it wasn't the last one because I would've have bought a second one right then and there. It was cakey and moist on the inside, crusty cinnamon-coated goodness on the outside. If Yelp allowed audio clips, I'd insert one of Homer Simpson drooling over donuts right here. There was no one dining there at the time (it was a rainy evening) and they were not busy at all. We were told that they would could not seat us for cocktails. We were so lucky to have stumbled upon this understated, cosy and quiet restaurant! We had mussels/clams and local crab for a late dinner. Every bite was a delicious delight!
