I am always looking for a great deli and this place was great. When I saw that they had a muffuletta I got super excited since I haven't had one outside of Louisiana. It was fantastic! We had a very slight preference for the pastrami, but will definitely be ordering both again next time, as well as trying something new. Every person working behind the counter was making sandwiches and handling ingredients with NO GLOVES ON. I'm also someone who masks and washes and sanitize my hands regularly. The service was quick and friendly. It was smaller and out of the way from other places I have been to before. Unfortunately, they were out of Dutch crunch bread. I got a turkey, salami sandwich with everything on it on a wheat roll for myself and a turkey, pesto, bacon sandwich for my partner. They were alright, probably would've been better on Dutch crunch. Sometimes you just crave a deli sandwich and Parma Delicatessen came to mind. A few friends had mentioned Parma in conversation and I realized I never tried it before. This family owned deli has been around for over 30 years. That alone should tell you that it is a local favorite in Concord. They also serve hot foods and offer catering. Parma is located at the El Monte Shopping Center. Lots of parking. Ordering over the phone is easy. The lady who took my order was super friendly. They can get busy (it sounded noisy in the background) so I'm glad I placed my order ahead of time. Unfortunately they sold out of sourdough rolls but that can happen when you arrive later in the day. It was either white or wheat, so we chose wheat. Can I just tell you how soft and fresh the bread was? Yum! First, the Italian Mix. Wow! That sandwich was massive! A meat lover's paradise right there. I was hoping to find more tang from a vinaigrette aside from the pickles to balance out the heavy mayo. That would have brightened up this sandwich a bit and give it some zing. Next, the Hot Crab sandwich. Whoa! This was a nice contrast to the Italian Mix. Warm and toasty, cheesy crab deliciousness. I'm glad I shared these sandwiches with my husband. We were definitely satisfied. My son and daughter also shared the Italian Mix along with the Pesto Chicken Caprese Panini. Great tasting pesto chicken on sliced sourdough bread. It was fresh and delicious (maybe a bit heavy on the Mayo and light on the veggies though). The pasta salad was okay. Not the best I've ever had but did the job to complement my sandwich. I only had half of the sandwich and half of the pasta salad. So the portions are very generous Pricing... $12 for the sandwich and $3 for a small pasta salad. Judging by the portions, it could be worth it but I am unsure how many people could afford a $12 sandwich all the time. I had the Italian Mix on a white roll, a perfect combination of Italian meats enclosed in a soft white roll; perfection. Next time I will split this football sized sandwich, densely packed with Italian meats, with a friend. HUGE! My friend enjoyed a ham sandwich on a sourdough roll, again, so fresh! What a great deli this is! This is an old style, Amazing, little gem. When you walk in on the right is the big deli counter; on the left are a few tables as well as shelves packed with everything you could imagine. Cold drink coolers are on the far end. The menu is printed in chalk on a blackboard on the right wall. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I had the BEST hot pastrami sandwich I have ever had. The homemade chicken soup was perfect. This is a small deli, so be aware of that if you were coming at a busy time. I came at 1 o'clock on a Saturday and it was pretty full with no one wearing masks. I was taking it back that the staff was not wearing masks either while they preferred food. The food itself tasted fine although the service took a while before they could get to me. If you are looking for a classic deli, Parma is the place. Gigantic sandwiches, literally dozens of options, all reasonably priced. Some of the meats and cheeses I had never heard of before. I could barely finish half of my sandwich; the staff happily packed up the other half so I could take it with me. They also have a wide variety of salads and other classic Italian foods and treats. While I was waiting to order I asked my fellow customers what they thought of this deli and I heard nothing but praise. Some had been coming there for years. As I sat at my table eating, watching the crowd, I could not help but notice that the customers were of every ethnicity and color. All seemed happy just to be there. This is a deli that has regulars and you can see it with the conversations between the family and customers. I will assume they are family because it felt like a family ran business in all the best ways with laughing and loving teasing comments to each other. I went around 1:00 hoping to avoid any business lunch rush, it was still busy but they were on it! We got the muffuletta, the Italian mix, and a hot crab sandwich. The hot crab took about 20 minutes since they pop it in the oven to heat through but it was worth it! I only had a bite of it but it was a lot of crab for the price! When I'm craving a sandwich I want one like the one I had at Parma Delicatessen! I've been wanting to try this spot for quite some time but the timing never worked out for me. But today was the day! Glorious sandwich day! My friend and I walked in and the aroma of the deli was promising. We could smell all of the delicious meats, especially the meatballs. It's a tiny shop and gets busy fast. Local cops stop in and you can see the relationship the owners have built with them. It's the mom and pop kinda place where you can just feel the love. My hot pastrami sandwich with smoked gouda was delicious! My friends meatball sub was huge and tasty as ever. I could taste the quality ingredients! Everyone was so kind and welcoming. They take all major credit cards, have a loyalty stamp card, and the prices are excellent especially for how much food you get. You can purchase many items there besides sandwiches like amazing pasta, sauces, and jarred peppers. Seriously...the pastrami was delicious!
