just had this place for the first and it was A1! not sure if it's family owned, but it is definitely your neighborhood hidden gem. im pretty simple, so i got a half combo sandwich and it was so yummy. the bread was super fresh and the serving size was just enough. i went to see them right before closing and i guess a lot of other customers had the same idea. you can tell some folks are regulars because they were greeted by name which i love. it's a little small so definitely for grab and go in my opinion however if you're looking for a good sandwich or snack this is your place. This sammich is FAT! I could only eat half; I made another sandwich today for lunch. They have many other popular choices, including garlic rosemary turkey, meatballs, pastrami, Muffuletta, and hot crab. There are many bread choices, but I appreciate that the bread doesn't overwhelm the sandwich like some spots. In addition to killer sandwiches, they have a large selection of cold salads. During the week, they have lots of hot items and daily specials. They also have a great selection of chips and Italian snack items. So glad I finally made it out here after seeing the reviews on Yelp and posts on FB. This place did not disappoint. It was a small local deli with an abundance of yummy choices. We went for the Italian Mix sandwich, Pesto Chicken caprese panini and a Pepper Turkey sandwich. Everything was on point! Delicious and fresh ingredients. We met Mary the owner who was as friendly as can be. I will be coming back and will be bringing friends. Next time I'd like to try some of their Italian entrees being offered like meatloaf and mashed potatoes, spaghetti and meatballs and some other hot pasta dishes. I'd never come here before, and I saw people on social media who kept talking about Parma as one of the better sandwich places in the area. I was in the area for a job, and things ran a little long, so I figured why not check this place out. This was my first time here, so I didn't know what to get, but I heard a customer in front of me ask for the Italian Mix. I didn't know what it was, so I asked the employee when they rang me up. It's a humongous sandwich with prosciutto, salami, ham, mortadella, and provolone. They asked if I wanted "everything," and when I asked what "everything" meant, they walked me through lettuce, onion, tomato, mayo, mustard, and other toppings. I asked for everything but tomato. I also ordered a BLT for my colleague. I also ordered a tri color pasta, and she liked the BLT. She asked if they made the bread in-house, because she liked it. I didn't know, but it was so delicious. The Italian Mix was comically large, but seriously delicious. I'd happily eat this anytime I'm in the neighborhood and craving a sandwich. Parma Deli has long been my favorite spot to grab a sandwich in Contra Costa County. Mary and Sam, the mother-and-son owners, have always treated me like family. When COVID-19 shut everything down in March 2020, I was worried that they may not survive. Thankfully, they weathered the storm better than many other food establishments and are back to business as usual. That's certainly good news to me and other sandwich lovers! Through the years, I have posted many pics of their delicious sandwiches here. But today I want to talk about their catering service. In the past five years, I have used it numerous times for large training sessions and operations and was super impressed by their diligence, punctuality, pricing, and food quality. I work with a bunch of people that are hard to please, but never once did I hear anyone complain about their food. That, in itself, is a ringing endorsement for them. Parma is located off Clayton Rd, in the same shopping center as Min's Kitchen, Izakaya An, and Mountain Mike's. It's in one of the further back corners, and might be easy to miss sometimes unless you're looking for the spot, as the outside is very non-flashy, and the name on the sign actually has a shortened version of their name. It's not a large place, as it's a pretty straight forward deli style place. Enough space to have a handful of people in line at a time in the shop, and I did see a table or two across the counter. Not exactly a sit-down place, but is a deli. I called in my order to go pick-up. No issues, person on phone was helpful, and if I had questions answered them without issue. The staff on arrival were also friendly, no complaints. They also do spaghetti, meatballs, and some other things that looked quite delicious that I may want to go back for next time, but the focus today was going there for a tasty sandwich. Menu wise, they have a good option of sandwiches to pick from. You can also make your own as well if that's your thing. They seem to carry a wide assortment of meats too, so should be something for everybody sandwich wise. Pricing, it's also well priced for your basic sandwiches, though some of the more specialty stuff does get a bit pricier, but I'll speak to this a bit soon. What I ordered today were two things: Italian Combo and a potato salad. The potato salad was okay. While it wasn't bad, it's not the kind of potato salad that I like. The potatoes also kind of had a weird texture to them like they were overcooked, and just kind of mushed a bit too much for my liking. It wasn't bad, but I wouldn't go out of my way to get this again. The Italian Combo was tasty. It's one of their more expensive sandwiches, but there is a reason for that; it's packed full of meat. And when I say packed full of meat, it really is just that. Felt like I was eating a stack of playing cards, but instead of cards they were slices of meat. So many different kinds of meat smashed into this one sandwich. It was huge for sure. Comes with your basic other things like tomatoes etc. The one thing I do sort of wish it had more of were the mayonnaise or some kind of other sauces. The meats themselves were pretty flavorful actually, so that helped to make things less bland, but just need a little more of something because of how much meat was in the sandwich. Parma does offer some tasty options for sandwiches. I would also love to try some of their homemade spaghetti, meatballs, and some other dishes that were in their hot section. Looks delicious. Pricing and quantity go hand and hand, and for me it was balanced here. Looking forward to my next visit back and try something else on the menu. read more
