My favorite restaurant in San Diego! I love love the decor here it's so beautiful with all the trees and the grass wall!! They also have a dj play in the restaurant which I really like because it's not your typical sit down dinner. The food here is alway delicious, they change their menu ever so often for the different seasons and the menu is always great. I really like their cheese board and absolutely love their scallops! Always cooked to perfection! The manager Erika is such a sweetheart! I absolutely love seeing her every time I go in. She ALWAYS takes the time to check on our table to make sure everything is to our liking. I see the way she interacts with other customers as well and she's just amazing! I really enjoy coming here to eat or even just to grab some drinks at the bar before heading up to the nightclub. They just got a new drink menu and it's to die for!! We had a very nice dinner on a Friday dinner. We went at 6:30pm and there was no one there. Later on we realized they get really busy around 8pm. Came here with a group of 8 for a birthday party. We had really high expectations because of all the beautiful photos and positive reviews. To start the venue itself is absolutely stunning! if you want "Instagram photo" worthy pictures this i the place to come. Everyone working is also great. Everyone is so kind and helpful, they even gave us a round of shots to celebrate my sister in law birthday! Unfortunately the food was not as great as a i hoped. All the decorations fit perfectly. Very romantic, with all the lights, and trees. Service: Waiter was friendly. Waters were refilled regularly. They also brought out a round of shots for the bride, which was nice. Food: The menu is small. A list of appetizers, and main dishes are listed side by side. Prices range from $26 plus. I ordered the chicken, came with mashed potatoes, and veggies. Chicken was really dry, and flavorless. The only thing worth eating were the potatoes. The scallops looked amazing, but the taste was lacking. Side dishes were overly salty. I'm not sure if anyone in my group really enjoyed their meals. All in all the place was okay. Made reservations here for my roomie's bday! It was easy to do online, but you have to call during their narrow business hours to make changes. You can't be seated until your entire party is present, but the sitting area up front is nicely decorated. The interior is super pretty with the lighted trees and purple haze. I requested one of their side booths which was able to seat all 9 of us (with two chairs tacked on the side). Service was terribly slow. It took awhile to get menus and water and when we did get them, there was not enough, i.e. two menus for the entire table and only 7 glasses. It seemed like there was one person for drinks who didn't really understand what was going on, another person just to take orders, and a third person who I'm not sure what their role was. Although we came an hour before HH ended, we got our initial order in with only 10min to spare. The $20 bottles of wine and $25 bottles of sparkling wine were hard to pass up. Roasted pear - This was actually quite good, but very basic. Just pears cut into halves topped with prosciutto, burrata, and arugula. Charcuterie board - Loved the wood stump board it came on. The meats and cheeses? Not so much. Also very basic in the sense that I probably could've gone to any grocery store for these items. The bread was practically croutons and the grapes were not fresh. I would not get this other than during HH. Smoked trout - Where do I even start? First, everything was heavily salted (even the roomie thought so). There was no balance in the dish, just fishy salt vs. carby salt. The fish itself was lackluster with the skin being slimy. The horseradish cream saved it a little bit, but not enough. Definitely needed some fresher elements. After we were done with our meals, we tried asking someone for the check, but no one was around. We were finally able to flag down our waiter who was inattentive to how the bill should be split. After 30min, the birthday girl got fed up and tried walking up to the waiter, but was brushed off. I personally went up to him to make sure it was getting done properly, but he was so flustered and snappy, stating "I'm really busy right now." Mind you, there were only 3 tables seated in the entire restaurant, ours being one of them. At least they had the decency to bring out a small dessert for the birthday girl which was actually the best part of the meal. I used to go here a lot when it was On Broadway. Now that it's PARQ, I feel like nothing really changed other than the decor. I especially love the music they play. I love hip hop. I think this might be one of the few places downtown that places hip hop still. The venue is also perfect for big events. My work place had their holiday party there. The food, entertainment and music was perfect. Whenever I go, I can always count on my go-to-girl, Irlanda. Unlike other promoters, I never have to wait for a long response. Park nightclub was hired to host an event for a local sorority they failed to communicate clearly in their contract the expectations for entry. The waiter kept forgetting our orders, bringing out the wrong dishes randomly and messed up everyone's orders. One of the guest's is vegetarian and asked if the hummus dish was vegetarian to which the waitress said yes. But when they brought her the hummus dip it only came with fried pig skin to dip into the hummus. they forgot two people's meals until AFTER everyone else ate and the check came. Originally had a reservation at 8, but I was running super late, and they allowed me to change it to the latest time possible, which was 8:45PM, which isn't that late, but it's because they had to open up the nightclub. It was a Friday night, and the restaurant wasn't packed at all. Just a few people here and there eating dinner. I absolutely love their light up trees, makes it feel so magical and romantic. Our server was very friendly, quick, efficient, and accommodating. DRY AGED RIBEYE TATAKI (house made kimchi, black garlic, pickled sweet peppers, white soy) Beautiful presentation. Very thinly sliced raw steak, drenched in a soy sauce, a bit too much soy sauce for my preference, but the veggies went well with the dish. BEEF BRISKET TOAST (sauerkraut, rye crisp, thousand island) This was our favorite dish. Good amount of meat on each slice of bread. The meat was good, and it was a more filling appetizer. It was similar to the ribeye tataki, but on bread. SHORT RIB (soy braised, beech mushroom, cauliflower, grilled asian pear) It was a good portion of short rib, but personally I think it wasn't tender enough for my taste. I definitely had to use my knife to cut it and it was a bit chewy, and the sauce was a bit salty, probbaly because it is soy sauce based. I think it might be better with a creamier sauce. But not terrible. I liked the veggies. SCALLOP (house made pancetta, english pea, baby spinach, brown butter) I didnt try this dish, but my date, was baffled that it came with a huge piece of lettuce and a bunch of peas, that did not look appetizing what so ever with the scallops, it was a terrible mix and dish presentation. But the scallops were huge in size and came in three. Overall, food was decent. We got drinks at the bar afterwards, and our bartender Ashish was very awesome! Just a disclamer, I'm a bartender and work in downtown San Francisco. I also used to DJ in clubs in the San diego area when I used to live here. I'm in the service industry so I know exactly how it is. BUT, when I go out you best believe I judge everything from management, booking, and customer service. (Just being honest here) If I could give more than 5 stars, I would. Shoutout to Shikeb, Tarell, Gabriel, Sean and the parq team! I flew down from San Francisco to suprise my girlfriend on her birthday. I inquired about vip bottle service/table service on the parq website and Shikeb reached out to me almost immediately. I was planning everything a week in advance and Shikeb helped me out from start to finish. He took care of my party of 17 and there was absolutely no complaints. He explained everything throughly and answered all the questions I had up till the night was over. Our party arrived in multiple waves. We wanted everyone to be there before me and the birthday celebrant; this way everyone was at the table when we arrived and we can just kick things off. Parq management please keep Shikeb around! Because of him alone I will definitely come back to parq just based on the ease of booking and customer service. Throughout the night Gabriel and Tarell took care of us at the table. These guys were on it! They kept asking if everyone at the table was fine and if they needed to kick anyone who might've snuck in our area. In terms of service, security, and overall friendliness these guys were next to nothing. Shoutout to Gabriel and Tarell you guys are the example of what good customer service should be. Just pray if you book a table at parq that you get hooked up with Shikeb as your host, and Gabriel and Tarell as your servers. Sean, one of the managers also helped me out the day before and allowed me to pay in advance and answered any questions I had. Shoutout to sean. The gentlemen outside were very helpful in directing us to what line we needed to be in based on our reservation and quickly got us inside out of the cold. All of the servers and staff were extremely helpful and the bouncers inside always made sure things didn't get too rowdy on the dance floor. The aerial dancers were mesmerizing, I could have watched them all night. Definitely something you don't see every day. I always absolutely love the stunning decor inside Parq restaurant, it is reminiscent of a well lit outdoor restaurant. THE EXPERIENCE. I had the opportunity to eat here with my +1 which included 2 appetizers, 1 main course per person, beer/wine/cocktail per person. Parking in the area is possible, depending on the time of day. Our date was Saturday 7:30pm so parking was so/so. The address was to a locked door with big windows and closed curtains. The restaurant entrance was around the corner on sixth street. Upon arrival the waitstaff showed us to our table. The decor was beautiful, I love the light trees in the middle of the restaurant and the willow steams behind the bar. The restaurant was 1/3 packed and loud with echos of chatter. We ordered, we cheers'ed, we are, we conversed. Had I known this place was also a night club after 10pm, I would have considered making dinner plans a different day. The one thing I disliked about the atmosphere is that it's connected to the nightclub (only separation is a wall and a few stairs), so as you try to enjoy your meal and conversation (on a Saturday evening) a DJ sets up in the restaurant around 8:30 and gradually starts cranking up the volume. By 9/9:30, we are no longer having a casual dinner conversation, we are almost yelling across the table (it was annoying). Don't expect intimate conversations at this place. Also, the clubrats start to come and prefunk and the restaurant entrance is the club entrance - expect to see all walks of clubrat life walking by your dinner table (groups of people in hoochie clothes, sloppy drunks or rolling off of something, bachelorette parties, prowlers, creepies, etc). If you are here to eat and not go clubbing afterwards, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND to make your dinner plans between 5-8 - nothing later than that, or consider a different day. I am beyond my clubrat days so it was just unattractive to be at the restaurant at that hour. But if you plan to club aftewards, this place would be ideal to eat, prefunk, and club. THE FOOD. As much as I wanted to like the place the plates fell a little below expectation. The best dish of the night was the brussel sprouts and the least favorite was panna cotta. WHITE WINE - pinot grigio from Italy. Because it pairs well with seafood and fish. SMOKED OCTOPUS - potato, turnip, olives, romesco emulsion. The octopus was tender but the smokey flavor was masked by romesco emulsion. The two ingredients I liked and felt mixed well together were the octopus and olives, the rest didn't pull its weight. BRUSSEL SPROUTS - pork belly, burbon maple syrup sherry, parmesan. Favorite dish of the night. Flavors and combination were executed very well. I think I could have ordered two of these and be satisfied for the evening. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. FREE RANGE CHICKEN - house made panchetta, english pea, baby spinach, potato, country gravy. Nothing special, chicken breast meat in gravy. The chicken needed more flavoring, it tasted bland - gravy was helpful in this department. HALIBUT - asparagus, crispy leek, horseradish cream. This was one of the top three main dishes. I love halibut fish so I was hoping this dish would steal my heart, unfortunately it did not. The halibut fillet was nice and thick with a light crispy coating on the outside. I didn't have any issues with my halibut but the other stuff offered on the plate lost my interest. The green cream needed to have more flavor since the halibut was already a subtle piece on the plate. I also felt like there was just too much cream on the plate, everything was swimming in it. PANNA COTTA w/ STRAWBERRY COMPOTE - good panna cotta is silky and smooth almost like custard, their panna cotta texture was a little hard that reminded me of hard jello. My friends and I went to have an early dinner and drinks here before heading into the nightclub on a Friday night. I absolutely LOVE the décor, you don't feel like you are in San Diego at all. The staff were very friendly and prompt. For a restaurant before the club its definitely worth it. The club is connected to the restaurant so you could order drinks at the bar before fighting the people on the dance floor. Either way, it appears to be a high end experience for the rich and famous. The entrance to the restaurant was elegantly guarded by well dressed security personnel. Hostess were professional and we were given a red carpet treatment. Our waitress was fabulous and continuously making sure we were comfortable. We walked into a lightly dimmed dining area with a well stocked bar. We ordered the beef brisket toast and ceviche for our appetizers. The presentation of the food was perfectly arranged. The briskets were on lightly toasted rye and topped with a combination of sauerkraut and thousand island sauce. I preferred the ceviche to be a little more sweet, but the fish was delicious. The entrees we ordered were the scallops and short ribs. The scallops were requested to be well cooked. Unlike beef, it still has a soft texture inside. Altogether, delicious with the house made pancetta. The shorts ribs are tender and can be compared to the texture of a stew, but prepared with a rich sweet sauce. I had two glasses of the smoke tree red wine, but I would prefer to have my 2012 robert mondavi merlot with the short ribs instead. Great experience, great food, and a great dining environment. We had reservations for dinner on a Saturday at 9:45pm. Kitchen closes at 10pm and then the place turns into a nightclub. Food: Brussels Sprouts - SO salty and drenched in sauce. It wasn't crispy at all. Just salty soggy. Raviolis - super basic. Tasted like normal costco raviolis from the frozen section. The fish over the crispy rice was so fishy, I couldn't eat it. Grilled cheese dippers - great concept, but poor execution and not high quality ingredients. The cheese was a clumpy, greasy hard mess. The restaurant turns into a club, but it's mostly blocked off for bottle service booths, so not too much room on the dance floor. I am so glad I decided to try it. Made the reservation through yelp, it was pretty easy. Upon arriving, we were seated immediately, (we had an early dinner reservation and there weren't that many people there yet). It was a Saturday and I was shocked that they had happy hour until 8...which made our bill very affordable. When they sat us, they asked if we were celebrating anything special. It was our anniversary so the waitress brought us complementary champagne. (SO NICE!) We ordered quite a few starters and drinks off the happy hour menu, they were surprisingly good portions. The Brussels Sprouts were hands down my favorite. The vibe in this restaurant is amazing. It has modern music playing in the background, the trees obviously make it so pretty, the service was excellent. When we walked in we were just stared at, I had to approach the women at the front desk. After that it took over 3 hours to get our drinks/food etc. portions are tiny prices are high. The service was so bad that it almost left the birthday girl in tears. I had the best birthday dinner here. They were so accommodating from the reservations by phone to our service and waitresses in person. I spoke to a couple people who offered us complimentary champagne upon arrival and were ok with storing my birthday cake during our dinner. They have a great happy hour...1/2 off all bottles from what I remember and the ambience was elegant but very Alice themed. I think you pay more for the ambience and environment which is fine and the food was good but average. Ceviche was ok, but the chips were too thin that they'd break... my friends had to take back some artichoke flatbread because it didn't taste good and was really really Stinky....and my fish was great- I ordered the swordfish which was great but not the best best... They had a prixe fixe menu, but the options were diverse enough that meat eaters, vegetarians, and pescatarians alike could find something to enjoy. This is my favorite place to have dinner with either my girlfriends or my husband. The food is really great and you can tell it's so fresh. The menu changes so I do t have to worry about it ever being boring. My favorite part are the super creative cocktails.. there different and so so good. The restaurant is also beautiful. By far my favorite date night restaurant. Be sure to make a reservation if you're planning to come on a high traffic day. With the reservation, there was no wait at all to be seated even though we came a few minutes early. The ambiance was really romantic - dim lighting but not too dark, casual love songs in the background. We came for the Valentine's Day special that comes with an appetizer, an entree and a dessert. As soon as we were seated, our server poured us two glasses of sparkling wine/champagne. We chose oysters for the appetizer - it came fairly quickly and tasted refreshing. As for the entrees, we had the rib eye steak and wild salmon. Please get the rib eye steak if you ever come to this restaurant, you won't regret it. It was cooked to a perfect, juicy medium rare with a light amount of fat that melts in your mouth. Lastly, we got a chocolate pot de creme. It was a bit sweet for our taste but not overwhelmingly so. Came here for a bachelorette dinner. Kyle helped me with my reservation. Patrick was an awesome server! Entertains and very funny, he even let us dance by our table just so we could get the party started. Ambience: very classy, causal in a sense, especially that you can just enjoy the music and get yourself ready for the dance floor. You might as well eat and go dance at their club. The DJ has a great taste in music. Appetizer: oysters, perfect way to start the night. I also heard oysters are aphrodisiacs... hmmm all you couples try them. They are good. Food: I ordered the Bass, just about more than $20 lol. This thing is good, buttery and just melts in your mouth. The chef did a very good job. Drinks: had an apple martini, nice and neat. Came to Parq from Canada to celebrate my brothers stag. Had a blast and was not disappointed. Great crowds, great music and better vibes. Special shout-out to Boris the best promoter who took care of me and all my boys. The staff and security were all professional and very accommodating.
