Buffet

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Cozy ambience with great music, and their buffet is amazing as well!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Must visit place!! Their service is impeccable too!

After eating at one of the cheapest Indian restaurants, Desi Tadka, we ate at one of the most expensive Indian restaurants, Passage to India. This place was famous for their weekday lunch buffets, and Thursday-Sunday dinner buffets. Lately lunch buffets have been limited to weekends, due to lack of customers, as Indian engineers working from home. I've come here once in 2018, 2019, and now 2021, aways in December before the $11 Entertainment Coupon expired. Came here Tuesday at 530pm. Exceptional ambiance, with huge expansive restaurant, tablecloths, cloth napkins, metal utensils, glasses.   Place was covid safe, as we were the only customers here during our entire stay. Ordered the $17 chicken vindaloo, the $21 chicken tikka masala, and the $3.50 naan.  Dishes come with basmati rice, so you don't have to pay extra for that. The naan was fresh out of the oven, with a layer of butter.  Delicious while it was hot.  Four very large pieces of bread, the size of a large pizza. The chicken vindaloo was as hot as the tropical sun in Hawaii 2 weeks ago.  Drank my glass of water right away.  Slices of boneless chicken breast in a very spicy hot, tangy red colored sauce, mixed in with potatoes.  Serving size was about 16 ounces. The boneless chicken tikka marsala was exceptional, with a brown ish orange tomato-based curry sauce with onion flavoring, medium spicy. Very expensive for 16 ounces at $21, up from $18 exactly two years ago. Wasn't about to pay for $19 for Bengan Bertha, or mashed eggplant, even if it was my wife's favorite. Finished the chunks of chicken in both dishes, and took the sauce home, to mix with cooked eggplant and cauliflower in the following days.  Indian restaurants expensive due to labor intensive making dishes, and the expensive spices that go into it.   I'm one of the last diners at this location, as it will close December 31, 2021. Passage to India will move to the currently closed bakery location a mile away on El Camino Real next to Shoreline and will be take out only. The waitress taking our order was of Indian descent, as was the Maitre De at the entrance. The uniformed waiter checking on our table had dark skin, and could pass as an Indian, until he directed the cook to serve up a refill of basmati rice for me, in Spanish! Mexican cook for an Indian restaurant?

Good Indian style bakery in the bay area. If you miss your bakery in the home street in India, this is the closest we can get here!

Work lunch on a Thursday for colleague's birthday. Love that the garlic naan is still piping warm and the aroma of this entree is amazing. I love all kinds of Indian food. Today I stepped into something different for my palette and the amount of spice is quite spicy but I love it. As I'm writing I'm devouring and biting into the corn kofta is soft, I can taste the bits and pieces of the ingredients of corn and they give you huge pieces. I like that they don't skimp. This blows my brain, the spiciness. lol. I love it. I can't wait to try more dishes from Passage of India. I love spinach and this hit the spot for me. Thank you, "I'll be back"!

Pretty decent buffet spread that's available only on the weekends and for lunch. Food was plentiful and varied which is the main reasons I like the buffet. The food was fresh and constantly being replenish despite a couple of parties going on in the other rooms. Honestly I could only do one full plate and then I'm pretty stuffed. Kinda whimpy I know but I'm there for the variety which can't be offered if dining with a person or two. The naan bread was delivered a bit hard and dry, but I did see some fresh ones being brought out periodically. I guess it's a roll of the dice. Chutneys were tasty and the layout made getting the food pretty easy. Didn't see any but some complimentary chai tea would've been the perfect end to a delicious buffet.

Had dinner tonight at Passage To India! I missed this place so much. I used to go here a few times a year pre-Covid. The buffet is closed but they offer all their dishes with huge portions. Very shareable. I went with my family group of 6. We got 5 items and got to take leftovers home. So glad this place is still open. We will be back soon! I personally loved the tikka was so rich in flavor, tender chicken and perfect spice level. Another favorite was the saag curry with paneer (cheese).

Ordered for delivery on doordash for lunch and it was great. Social Distancing Non Veg Platter Love the name as sometimes u can't rly share during covid times. I got this as it was offered on doordash and I'm not sure how the menu items/prices are in store. It's a little pricey for one person ($18.95) but it comes with a variety of stuff: -Veg Pakora - some fried veggies in batter? I liked it -Butter Chicken - tasty! -Chicken Curry -Rice -Raita -Gulab Jamun -Naan - soft and yummy - huge piece for 1 serving I really enjoyed the naan and the variety. I love the little sections so all the foods were separated, but unfortunately the dessert (gulab jamun) spilled into the other dishes like the chicken curry and the raita - making it hard to eat :/. I don't believe it was the restaurant's fault as it could've easily been during delivery process. Would love to try this place in person one day!

Great food, big selection for vegetarian, mildly to very spicy. Fast service and reasonable price for the lunch buffet. We return regularly.

Is the Buffet back?

Hi Michelle, I was a big fan of Passage to India, which was my favorite Indian food in the South Bay. My wife and I went there in person a few months back, and…

Is the buffet back? What day and time?

I called on 4/14/2022 and was told that buffet has not started

What time is the dinner buffet served from and until? What days is the dinner buffet available? Some people say Friday through Sunday, others Friday and Saturday only.

Thursday (added more recently) ($15.95) as well as Friday, Saturday, and Sunday ($17.95). 6pm - 9:30 om (Fri/Sat till 10pm)…

Parking: free, street parking…read more Maison Alyzée has two locations : Mountain View and Burlingame. Founded in 2018 by Lyon native Laurent Pellet. Fun fact: Alyzée" is the name of the owner's daughter. It boasts marble counters, bistro-style tables, and outdoor seating on Castro Street to mimic the South of France. The owner recruited pastry chefs who relocated from France specifically for this endeavor. They also have monthly flavor, for example for May 2026: "Strawberry Bliss" cake. I totally recommend: mixed berry tart, coffee eclairs. They have rotating seasonal items and also accept ordering larger cakes through online orders or by calling in! Their 100% pistachio cake is amazing - not too sweet and the pistachio flavor really comes through but doesn't overpower. Very creamy texture that isn't too heavy and has a fun, crunchy outer shell. The matcha raspberry is also nice and balanced - matcha flavor complements well with the raspberry gel / jam inside and is mellowed out by the cream. Inside is very chic and great place to chat and catch up over a cup of coffee and even get some work done - water station and wifi is inside.

OVERALL Fresh food, quick table-side service after ordering…read moreat the counter, and a relaxed hotel-café ambiance make Carte Blanche a very solid breakfast choice, especially if you're already at Shashi Hotel or in the Shoreline area....coffee is so-so and you're likely better off taking a walk over to Google Cafe for this one (from taste and price!). Overall solid fresh food (pricey but I guess normal for the area), knocked off a star for coffee being very average and service being less enthusiastic or friendly than I expected. AMBIANCE We came down for breakfast in the early morning to grab a quick hot breakfast and coffee and it was easy enough to get to and solid hours for the working folks. Fairly quiet spot and just the usual buzz of folks taking calls or having chit chat with coffee. It's right inside the Shashi Hotel and has a clean minimalist feel. There's indoor seating (about 3-4 tables) within the cafe but most folks just found a spot within the hotel dining area with more booths and long tables for coworking, and tables by the fireside, or outside by the pool. It's pretty comfortable spot to work in though some of the floor charging ports were often a trip hazard! SERVICE You order at the counter...(and can't say the folks taking the order didn't seem particularly enthusiastic working there but otherwise we got what we ordered and all substitution requests were honored), take a numbered placard, and sit down wherever you want. We dined in but you can obviously get to-go. In 10-15 minutes or so, the staff bring your food out to the table, which is pretty efficient and keeps things casual. Food was prepared quickly, arrived hot and well-presented, and they bring you silverware -- which is ideal if you're trying to grab breakfast before meetings or a flight! The overall atmosphere is calm and polished "urban resort lobby café" than crowded street coffee shop, which fits well if you're staying at the hotel or meeting colleagues nearby. FOOD The breakfast menu leans toward elevated kind of price-y but limited. There's only 4 main breakfast items (if you're not a pastry person in the morning). As an aside, the pastries in the case also didn't look super fresh. While limited in menu, everything we tried tasted fresh and was pretty solid -- a bit pricey but hey for the speed and fresh, healthy feel it was fine. The avocado toast came on hearty sourdough with scrambled eggs and bright toppings (loved the edamame in the salad), making it feel more like a full meal. The pork sausage breakfast bowl was solid too with scrambled eggs, potatoes, spinach, cheddar, avocado, salsa, and a touch of habanero heat that made it comforting but still interesting. The fruit and yogurt bowl balanced things out nicely with Greek yogurt, fresh fruit, granola, and honey, so you can go lighter if you don't want something heavy first thing in the morning! Would recommend this or the avocado toast if you're looking for something lighter but want to get the greens in.
