After eating at one of the cheapest Indian restaurants, Desi Tadka, we ate at one of the most expensive Indian restaurants, Passage to India. This place was famous for their weekday lunch buffets, and Thursday-Sunday dinner buffets. Lately lunch buffets have been limited to weekends, due to lack of customers, as Indian engineers working from home. I've come here once in 2018, 2019, and now 2021, aways in December before the $11 Entertainment Coupon expired. Came here Tuesday at 530pm. Exceptional ambiance, with huge expansive restaurant, tablecloths, cloth napkins, metal utensils, glasses.   Place was covid safe, as we were the only customers here during our entire stay. Ordered the $17 chicken vindaloo, the $21 chicken tikka masala, and the $3.50 naan.  Dishes come with basmati rice, so you don't have to pay extra for that. The naan was fresh out of the oven, with a layer of butter.  Delicious while it was hot.  Four very large pieces of bread, the size of a large pizza. The chicken vindaloo was as hot as the tropical sun in Hawaii 2 weeks ago.  Drank my glass of water right away.  Slices of boneless chicken breast in a very spicy hot, tangy red colored sauce, mixed in with potatoes.  Serving size was about 16 ounces. The boneless chicken tikka marsala was exceptional, with a brown ish orange tomato-based curry sauce with onion flavoring, medium spicy. Very expensive for 16 ounces at $21, up from $18 exactly two years ago. Wasn't about to pay for $19 for Bengan Bertha, or mashed eggplant, even if it was my wife's favorite. Finished the chunks of chicken in both dishes, and took the sauce home, to mix with cooked eggplant and cauliflower in the following days.  Indian restaurants expensive due to labor intensive making dishes, and the expensive spices that go into it.   I'm one of the last diners at this location, as it will close December 31, 2021. Passage to India will move to the currently closed bakery location a mile away on El Camino Real next to Shoreline and will be take out only. The waitress taking our order was of Indian descent, as was the Maitre De at the entrance. The uniformed waiter checking on our table had dark skin, and could pass as an Indian, until he directed the cook to serve up a refill of basmati rice for me, in Spanish! Mexican cook for an Indian restaurant?

Good Indian style bakery in the bay area. If you miss your bakery in the home street in India, this is the closest we can get here!

Work lunch on a Thursday for colleague's birthday. Love that the garlic naan is still piping warm and the aroma of this entree is amazing. I love all kinds of Indian food. Today I stepped into something different for my palette and the amount of spice is quite spicy but I love it. As I'm writing I'm devouring and biting into the corn kofta is soft, I can taste the bits and pieces of the ingredients of corn and they give you huge pieces. I like that they don't skimp. This blows my brain, the spiciness. lol. I love it. I can't wait to try more dishes from Passage of India. I love spinach and this hit the spot for me. Thank you, "I'll be back"!

Pretty decent buffet spread that's available only on the weekends and for lunch. Food was plentiful and varied which is the main reasons I like the buffet. The food was fresh and constantly being replenish despite a couple of parties going on in the other rooms. Honestly I could only do one full plate and then I'm pretty stuffed. Kinda whimpy I know but I'm there for the variety which can't be offered if dining with a person or two. The naan bread was delivered a bit hard and dry, but I did see some fresh ones being brought out periodically. I guess it's a roll of the dice. Chutneys were tasty and the layout made getting the food pretty easy. Didn't see any but some complimentary chai tea would've been the perfect end to a delicious buffet.

Had dinner tonight at Passage To India! I missed this place so much. I used to go here a few times a year pre-Covid. The buffet is closed but they offer all their dishes with huge portions. Very shareable. I went with my family group of 6. We got 5 items and got to take leftovers home. So glad this place is still open. We will be back soon! I personally loved the tikka was so rich in flavor, tender chicken and perfect spice level. Another favorite was the saag curry with paneer (cheese).

Ordered for delivery on doordash for lunch and it was great. Social Distancing Non Veg Platter Love the name as sometimes u can't rly share during covid times. I got this as it was offered on doordash and I'm not sure how the menu items/prices are in store. It's a little pricey for one person ($18.95) but it comes with a variety of stuff: -Veg Pakora - some fried veggies in batter? I liked it -Butter Chicken - tasty! -Chicken Curry -Rice -Raita -Gulab Jamun -Naan - soft and yummy - huge piece for 1 serving I really enjoyed the naan and the variety. I love the little sections so all the foods were separated, but unfortunately the dessert (gulab jamun) spilled into the other dishes like the chicken curry and the raita - making it hard to eat :/. I don't believe it was the restaurant's fault as it could've easily been during delivery process. Would love to try this place in person one day!

Is the buffet back? What day and time?

I called on 4/14/2022 and was told that buffet has not started

Thursday (added more recently) ($15.95) as well as Friday, Saturday, and Sunday ($17.95). 6pm - 9:30 om (Fri/Sat till 10pm)…

Every guest around you is always having a good time. This is a key component that you want to experience in a restaurant setting. Masha took care of me today (and multiple other customers at the same time.) I observed and received nothing short of what is expected in a restaurant setting in Mountain View on Castro Street: Quality service, and great suggestions. I think guests sometimes overlook the novelty of being able to enjoy your time in the establishment you choose to dine at. Folks seem to be in such a rush these days. For happy hour, we got their happy hour sampler which included, 2 spaetzle cheese balls, a pretzel with sweet mustard, pickled veggies, and a cheese sausage/brat wrapped in pastry dough. We also ordered some jager fries (fries with mushroom gravy/jager sauce, cheese, and green onions). The wrapped sausage was the standout! We also ordered two half liter beers - I love the selection of German beers and local beers. This being a biergarten, of course we went German. Overall, a beautiful way to spend an afternoon! I would definitely try non-happy hour menu items and try to make my way down their beer list.

St Stephen's Green is an Irish pub that is a Mountain View mainstay and institution. It's been here for a long time, and it's a great place to drink a pint, munch on some food and shoot the breeze with friends. We decided to haul ass down here for the USA vs. Belgium World Cup match. Presently, for World Cup reservations, they have to be made at least 12 hours in advance and are $50/person (which you can redeem for drinks and food on the day of your reservation). We got here fairly early and sat in some free seats near the front entrance. Before long, the place was a zoo, but it didn't matter. The atmosphere and camaraderie were still electric. Despite the atrocity of a loss by team USA, great fun was still had. Their menu, I should note, is extensive with a number of both Irish and non-Irish food and drinks. On my visit, I started with a simple club soda which progressed to a glass of Guinness beer and some Guinness beer cheese pretzels which I split with my friends. The pretzels and the accompanying sauce were delicious. The club soda and Guinness were as good as can be had anywhere. Prices, admittedly, are not the cheapest here though. For two club sodas, two Guinness beers, and one order of the beer cheese pretzels, the total bill (without tip) came to approx. $47-48. Service was good but could have been a little bit more organized. When I was closing my tab, my server ran off just as I began to sign my receipt, and I was unable to get a copy for myself. Not a huge deal I suppose as the pub was awash with patrons on the inside and outside. But I will say this: When I made a few phone calls a day or two before to ask a few questions about reservations and seating, each person I spoke to on the phone was really friendly and answered my questions clearly and with no hesitation or confusion. Some might think that such an experience like that isn't too remarkable, but, in a day and age of picking up the phone and talking to a computer and/or having to deal with poor customer service, this was a breath of fresh air. For those who plan to come for the remaining World Cup matches, if you do NOT have a reservation, be sure to walk around and see if there are any available tables (both inside and outside) that do NOT have a sign saying "reserved." If you're lucky to find one, you can sit there. If the table is indeed reserved, you can't sit there unless the amount of chairs at that table is greater than the amount of people for whom the table is reserved (which is noted on tables that are reserved.) There are a number of free seats up front that are first come, first served (which is where we sat), but they do NOT allow you to save seats for others. So I highly recommend that, if you plan to meet up with others, you arrive TOGETHER and EARLY. They recommended that we arrive at least one hour before the match started, which is great advice and served us well. Overall, if you're looking for a solid Irish pub in the South Bay, I highly recommend Green. 4 stars
