Attended dinner here with friends as a party of 9. They are locals and go quite often so of course recommended we come here when Italian was mentioned. We had a reservation for 7:30pm and all 9 of us enjoyed the entrees that we ordered. The dining area is small but everything else was so impactful. Service: Our server was so kind and attentive. You could tell he took his job seriously and it really enhanced the experience. Food: My partner ordered the vodka spicy pink rigatoni pasta and I order the ravioli. There was definitely an added depth to the vodka pink sauce that I enjoyed. It was very creamy and the added Parmesan was a good choice. I'd definitely recommend it. For $25 I thought 5 pieces of ravioli seemed expensive, and it is BUT the taste made it so worth it. Would have liked it to have been a little hotter but I honestly didn't care that much because the ravioli was so so divine, even my partner wished he had ordered some too. For dessert we had the tiramisu and I really wish I could've eaten another 10 plates of it. It was so incredibly light and creamy. Yes it's a bit pricey but you can truly taste the quality of ingredients. Our server said the food was organic and made with fresh ingredients, which I thought was noticeable. Okay, this was strange. I don't know if it was the direction from which I approached or if my iPhone map glitched out, but I began to wonder, coming from Renown South Meadows Medical Center, if I was being misdirected. I was driving through ranch land. A youngster was riding English style in her arena. Helmet and all. Then I start climbing a hill and traveling past some really nice, really huge homes. Then crest the hill, start back toward the valley floor and BOOM! On the left is a tiny business complex. I drove through it twice and missed the restaurant both times! I began to wonder if the place had closed. I finally call and whoever answered was so sweet, asking where I was and describing exactly where they were located in relation to the other businesses, like she had all day to get me to their restaurant. Not sure how I missed it, though it isn't huge, and the sign is super-modern looking. My wife, Katie would not be surprised I didn't see it - Captain Oblivious! I went to the counter and ordered the lasagna bolognese. "For here or to go?" "I'll sit." She pointed me to the nearest table. I was the first to sit down tonight around 5:45pm. I couldn't help but compare to the Italian meal I had on Monday. Ambiance is definitely lacking. Yes, they brought me four slices of a warm, but slightly dry baguette. Which I softened up with the olive oil and balsamic vinegar on the table. I liked the little hinged metal dust covers on those spouts. Haven't seen those before. I ordered a glass of 'Super Tuscan' wine. It was very dry and not a lot of flavor, but smooth and drinkable. A bottle of chilled still water was delivered. It took maybe 20 minutes for the lasagna to be served. Which was fine, I was in no hurry. But it may have been the most picturesque serving of lasagna I've ever eaten, or even seen. Check out the pic! The sauce was...barely there. My wife would have loved it. She puts about a teaspoon of sauce on her spaghetti at home. I put the rest of the jar on mine. I LOVE sauce. The meal I had Monday - plenty of sauce. And a round of fresh baked bread. But the lasagna was nowhere near as pretty as this. Going back to the sauce, it was such a thin layer I began to wonder if it wasn't just a tomato-basil rather than bolognese. So, I tried to get just a bit of the sauce on my fork. Oh, yeah, there was meat in it alright. I took my time and enjoyed the wine and lasagna. I'm gonna guess I've never had really good lasagna before. The two I had this week were the most delicate and delightful examples I've ever tasted. And each was so different from what I'm familiar with. I'm used to a lasagna in which the cheese and noodles are very distinguishable. And in both of these, the noodles were much softer than any I'd had before. The cheese had a creamy texture. It was almost like eating a savory cake. But keep in mind, I have the least sophisticated palette of anyone you'd ever meet. So, take all this with a giant chunk of rock salt. As I was finishing up, I really wanted spumoni and a cappuccino, but I must have been looking at an old menu on Yelp, cause all that was listed was tiramisu and cannoli. So, when asked about dessert, I learned they had some sort of frozen thing and espresso. I had her write down what the dessert was, "Semi fredos" is what she wrote. A hazelnut flavor I'm not super-fond of, and sprinkled with what I thought were chopped almonds, but they were bitter, so I'm gonna guess Brazil nuts. There was a sprinkling of cocoa powder below the chopped nuts and a few lines of chocolate sauce over the semifreddo (yeah, I looked it up). The cappuccino was way better than Monday's. Wow! These folks know how to make a cup of coffee! I have a Gaggia Pro at home and my espresso tastes like #2 pencil shavings. This may well have been the best I've had. And I've been to Temple Coffee! More than once! They know how to make espresso, right? Well, this was better than that, by far. So, the last place I wanna try is Johnny's. I ended up at the Whispering Vine during a snowstorm the first time I tried to go there. But Pasta Fresca is my favorite of the two I've tried so far. From the short menu, you know that they are specialized and all about PASTA! You can personalize and order your own pasta with a variety of sauces! I've only heard about this place via the Farmer's Market and I was surprised to see that they also had a restaurant when I was getting sushi next door, so I decided that I must try it! They have a delicious selection of entrees, wine and DIY pick and choose pasta plate. Although I wanted to try making my own pasta plate, it was difficult to resist their yummy specials and entrees. That just means I'll have to go back. They have ample parking at a shopping center. However, my only criticism is that their chairs are pretty small and it was difficult to place my purse anywhere. So I would recommend to ladies/gents that bring purses/large bags to just bring your wallet so you don't have to worry about having your stuff get stepped on/kicked on the floor. I've had Pasta Fresca in my list of places to try for a good while now and just haven't been able to make it work until recently. I am very glad I did as the food was worth the wait! This is some of the freshest pasta you can get in Reno and is made with care. We made reservations and the staff were extremely friendly when taking care of us. I ended up getting the Spaghetti Vincenzo which is now one of my favorite pasta dishes ever. The shrimp were huge, plump and fresh and the sauce was begging for bread to sop it up! My partner got the Rigatoni with spicy vodka sauce and chicken which was just as good and also had an amazing sauce. With my mom in town, we ended up trying the special as well, a perfectly cooked salmon filet with orecchiette pasta and lemon cream sauce. This was tied with the Spaghetti Vincenzo for me! We ended the meal with the Limconcelli Tiramisu, which has got to be one of the top 5 desserts I've ever had. I would have happily eaten 6 of them. The restaurant itself is quaint and lively but don't expect any private corners. You definitely pay for the quality of the meal and it isn't cheap but damn it's worth it. The restaurant is inviting and the owner (I believe it's the owner) seems to have many regulars. It's not a super fancy place to eat, but the service was good, and the food was decent. We ordered a salad, a glass of wine, tonight's special dish, and a tomato basil fusilli, which is recommended on yelp by many people. My fusilli pasta itself tasted great. It's not hard but still chewy. Hubby's special dish has veal and bone marrow. It has more flavor than mine and tasted herby. They took some time to cook our dish, but served us a few rounds of free bread so we don't get bored. I'll come back to try more dishes for sure! read more

This is a cute little Italian restaurant tucked in the corner on Lakeside by Bentley Ranch. I got the spicy vodka sauce- which was great and wasn't spicy AT ALL which I loved. It seems like they make their noodles there and just focus on pasta. No steak dinners on the menu. My husband got the lasagna bolognese and he loved it. They don't have extra veggies you can add to the pasta. I asked if they had some kind of veggie and all they had was cherry tomatoes and they probably put in maybe 5 of them. I like pasta with more vegetables so would have liked to have that option. The bread was delicious that came complimentary and we got the caprese which came out with pesto on it which was delicious but I felt like there could have been more pesto but it was still a great spin on caprese- super tasty! The service was okay- the kids were super nice but I could tell they needed a little more help as there were 12 parties there and only 2 young servers with a busser/running food. The servers were also the hosts seating people. Wow!! My new favorite pasta place. Fresh, delicious and currently craving more! If you've been to Pasta Fresca, you know what the hype is about. It is a small pasta restaurant with a specialized menu. We walked in on a Saturday night and we were sat immediately. The staff were great and our food came out in a timely manner. We ordered the caprese to start and organic Italian sodas, the drink was different but good and the caprese was the perfect starter! I ordered the vodka spicy pink sauce with linguine and sausage and my bf ordered the pappardelle polpette special with meatballs. Both pastas were scrumptious but the vodka spicy pink sauce was my favorite! If you know, you know. I love that everything is made fresh! And they even sell pasta kits to make at home. I can't wait to come back and try the charcuterie board and bolognese but I might just order the vodka spicy pink sauce again because it was that goooood. This is our first time dining in, although we have been buying their pasta and sauces to take home and cook for a long time, which I highly recommend. The food was delicious! This place is a gem! All the pasta is freshly made and you can tell it makes the dishes that much better! I went here with my bestie and we shared the burrata cheese which was on top of a tomato and served with bread. I'm a sucker for burrata cheese and the addition of the tomato was refreshing. For my main I got the special, manicotti and although it was delicious. I will say I think it could have done better without all the additional toppings. There was spinach, sausage, olives and tomatoes which added to the meal but felt overwhelming in flavors. I'm not taking any stars bc it was a good meal but didn't jive well with my personal taste. We had the cannoli for dessert and it was so good! One side has chocolate chips and the other pistachio. Our server was nice and was great with explaining the different types of Italian wines. She recommended the Fiano wine and it was soooo good. It was sweet but not sweet at the same time. I'm so glad she recommended that because I got to try a new wine out. The restaurant itself is small and intimate but not loud. You can still hold a conversation with your company without having to yell over other people's conversations. We and close friends of ours went to dinner for the first time at Pasta Fresca. We started our dinner with the Lakeside salad which arrived fresh and tasty with an olive oil and balsamic dressing. Two of us had the spaghetti Vincenzo which had shrimp, capers and a light tomato cream sauce and the other two had the egg tagliatelle with scampi which had tomatoes and an olive oil, white wine sauce. Both pastas we're perfectly Al dente and delicious. For dessert we had the tiramisu and a Cappuccino. The perfect finish to a nice evening. We've been coming to Pasta Fresca for about a year, and we always have a great experience. It has become my favorite italian restaurant in Reno. They don't have a huge menu, but I appreciate that they allow you to choose your own pasta options if one of the standard offerings isn't a fit. I always start with an appetizer, and the burrata mozzarella never disappoints. All the pasta is freshly made, and you can really tell the difference when you take your first bite. I am also totally obsessed with their spicy pink vodka sauce! I am a baby when it comes to spice, so it's not too spicy and I expect most people can handle it. I also appreciate that you can add tofu to the pasta in case you follow a vegetarian diet. The staff is always attentive when dining in person, but it also makes for great take out! After you make it through your app and your entree, you have to save room for a cannoli. These cannolis are so good, just as good as anything I used to get living outside New York City. I haven't tried every single pretzel in town, but I can bet this one from Pasta Fresca is the best. I was already sold on texture, look, and smell alone and when I bit into it, it was only a millisecond before I knew it was something grand. Having made homemade pretzels from scratch, I know it's not easy finding the perfect balance between texture, saltiness, and flavor. This pretzel had the perfect classic pretzel taste (achieved with baking soda) and the caramelized cheese on top of the pretzel was undeniably good(one might say gourmet). Even their plain salt pretzel is something to brag about. I immediately asked questions about how they came to making this masterpiece and found out that the owners are absolutely passionate about their food, only using the best ingredients they can get their hands on. When you bite into this deliciousness, you won't have to be a professional chef to taste it all-quality, passion, and magic. They only make them during farmer's market season, so hurry up and snag some up before they make their exit. The thing that really makes this place shine is the heart and soul that goes into every product they put out! We decided to try Pasta Fresca's pasta kit to make at home for a recent date night. We think cooking together is far more romantic than sitting at a table in a crowded restaurant! Anyhoo, I called ahead and the staff kindly set aside a rigatoni, bolognese sauce, and cannoli for me to pick up later that evening. The gentlemen that helped me were SO kind! They recognized me from the Riverside Farmers Market where I had first approached their stand. They walked me through the cooking process and implored me to enjoy the pasta with a nice glass of red wine (but of course!) The meal itself was incredibly easy to cook... the pasta took between 2-3 minutes for al dente and delicious. The sauce simply needed to be warmed and seasoned. Tossed them together, topped generously with parmesan, and voila! Instant chef here! The pasta itself was very tasty. We had to add a bit of pizzazz to the sauce for our tastes, but the base flavor was comforting and homey. Definitely reminded me of my mom's bolognese growing up! The portion was plenty to feed two people, though (unbelievably) we didn't feel gross and bloated after finishing the whole thing. We actually still had room for a tasty cannoli, which was properly garnished with chocolate chips on one end and crushed pistachios on the other. The owner does his best to source local and organic ingredients wherever possible. The whole staff seems primed to create a wonderful experience for their customers, which makes us excited to return for a dine-out date night here. My friends and I went here a few nights ago. We were a party of 6 plus 2 kids. Reservations were made for 5 pm, right when they opened. Our table was ready for us upon arrival. I ordered the Spaghetti Vincenzo. Just like others, I would agree that this dish is creamy and rich. I have never tried pasta that included capers, but I like capers and it also came with shrimp. If you don't have a caper added to each bite, I felt that the pasta also needed more salt, so I added some parmesan. The shrimps were cut up, I'd prefer if they were whole. It would make the plating more appealing. The dish overall was pretty good. My friend had ordered gluten-free pasta with vodka sauce. I was surprised at how pretty the pasta was, it looked like a beat red color and the pasta did not take like cardboard (double win). The flavor of the vodka sauce was good as well. Another friend ordered the Ravioli Tartufo, which was spinach ravioli, ricotta cheese, porcini mushrooms, black truffle, and white wine truffle cream butter sauce. Let me tell you, I LOVED IT! The ravioli filling was light and creamy, the ravioli was nice and al dente, and the sauce was filled with the most delicious truffle taste. You'll have to not be afraid of a lot of truffle taste if you order this dish because it comes fully packed with it. One friend mentioned that their penne wheat pasta with I believe vodka sauce didn't have enough sauce on it and was kind of dry. So, if you do order the wheat pasta, then maybe ask for extra sauce? For dessert, we tried both the cannoli and the tiramisu. Our favorite across the board was the tiramisu. It was fluffy, not too sweet and the flavors were cohesive. Their tiramisu was better than Costco's tiramisu in my opinion. Just a tip: I would call and make a reservation ahead of time. Although they have signage you kind of have to look for it because it's kind of tucked into the corner of the shopping center. But it's cozy and the simpleness of it is part of the appeal. But it's not the room that draws people back, it's the fresh food. Everything they make is fresh. There's nothing frozen or preprepared here and the folks that own/run it are actually Italian. The menu is pretty simple. Just a few appetizers/salads, a few entrees, and the option to pick your own ingredients for your own dish. All served fresh and simple. This is pasta like you'd make at home, simple but with sustenance. Speaking of which, they sell all of their pasta and sauces to go. In fact they're usually at the local farmers markets around town selling their take home dinners. This is a great way to try it if you want to start slow or are a homebody. Service is about what you'd expect, nothing fancy but that's the whole point of this place, just good fresh food, well prepared without a lot of extravagance or pretension. You'll pay about $25 for an entree, double that if you add a salad, glass of wine and a tip. We saw that this restaurant just opened up, and wanted to give it a shot. The food is amazing. I ordered the caprese as a starter, and then ordered the shrimp scampi special for my meal. Both were so fresh and amazing! I highly recommend. My boyfriend ordered the ravioli....it was the best pasta I ever had! It was filled with ricotta cheese, spinach and mushroom. So delicious! I ended the meal with a cannoli: the cream was excellent. They are in the process of obtaining their alcohol permit, but allow drinks from other places. They do have a good selection of Italian cream sodas. The restaurant is charming, classy and very clean. The decor is very modern, and the music is great. There is plenty of parking. It's imperative for restaurants to flip tables quickly so they aren't left out due to the capacity limits because of covid. Prickly isn't a bad thing, but he was very frank with me. When we sat down, we first ordered the Piatto di legno which was like a charcuterie plate. The cheeses and cold cuts were divine! While we were left wanting more, that's what a good appetizer should do - make you excited for the next course! On the Piatto di legno, there was something like fresh honey too... oh my! I could've smothered that on toast, it was so, so good! For dinner, I ordered fusilli with tomato basil sauce and added sausage. My boyfriend ordered rigatoni with the vodka spicy pink sauce and added sausage. Both orders were excellent. Mine actually came out without sausage at first and Paolo took it back right away and got that fixed. I really appreciate when someone doesn't mind going the extra mile because they want you to love their food. Overall, I was really pleased with our dining experience.
