My recent dining experience at Pasta Jay's Moab was less than enjoyable. Our waiter walked up to our table and asked us if we were ready to order. Did not offer us drinks first, did not offer to open the bottle of wine sitting in the center of the table, did not even introduce himself. I very politely asked him to open the wine and take a drink order. He obediently took our drink order and without blinking an eye asked again if were ready to order. We gave him our order only with the promise that drinks would arrive before food. I regret that decision, as drinks arrived immediately followed by food. No time to enjoy a sip of wine before eating. I would like to think of Pasta Jays as a restaurant not a fast food joint. The burn-em-and-turn-em table mentality is not what I expected, was accusted to, nor enjoy. Our food was delivered by servers and our waiter was never seen again. No offer for more drinks or dessert. The final straw came when I received the bill including the 20% tip for our party of six. My brother and I had travel from Oregon and Washington States to see Arches and Canyonlands. We were both hungry after a hot and busy day driving up from Page Arizona. We had a hankering for lasagna. We decided to try Pasta Jay's since it was right there on the main street in Moab. We were amazed to find out that Pasta Jay's only has lasagna one day a week. What kind of American Italian restaurant only has lasagna once a week? In any case, we decided to eat here. My brother had some kind of dish that an okay Alfredo sauce. I ordered a dish that was supposed to be the closed to lasagna. The pasta was okay but the sauce wasn't very tasty. The sauce was pretty bland and not as tasty as Ragu. I think we will find somewhere else the next time we are in Moab read more

Average..I have eaten here about 7 times in the last 10 years. it was really good the 1st time. I will give a thumbs up to the amazing aroma's, and the staff prior to the last year. However, this visit was hurried, the hostesses were too busy joking & dancing around with each other to seat me quickly. I had 4 different employees, 1 to toss a glass a water at me, next the bread basket tosser, I tried to tell her I won't eat the bread, but she didn't understand I guess. (I gave the bread to 3 hungry rock climbers at the next table). The waiter was nice, but seem hurried and couldn't clearly understand I would prefer alfredo over red sauce, I had to point on the menu, and finally the person who cleared my table before I was completely finished. As far as the food. Bland. I had the artichoke, broccoli & mushroom linquine, there were so many artichokes, almost too many, 5 slivers of broccoli, and 5 mushrooms.. WOW!! Expensive but EXCELLENT Italian food. So worth it. If you can, get the lasagna and you won't regret it. Delicious, homemade sauce! Shrimp Giacomo was a Gorgonzola cream sauce with sundried tomatoes, shrimp, and fettuccine. It wasn't too "Gorgonzola-y," it was just right! The sundried tomatoes also weren't overpowering. You can mix and match sauces there as well. Definitely a place to stop in if you're in the mood for pasta or Italian. Large portions. Garlic bread comes with pasta order but they let me substitute for broccoli. They even give out free bumper stickers! Great service. ONLY downfall, the bathrooms were not clean. Toilet paper on back of toilet instead of in holder as well. Could have been a fluke. read more

This place is really bad.... we are never going there again... and you shouldn't also!! If you are searching for a lot of food this is the place to go, if you don't mind the taste that is.... we never write a review on yelp but in this case we had to make an exception. Service couldn't have been worse.... the garlic bread is nice though, so that's why we would rate Pasta Jay's with 1 star, which is more than enough. Pasta Jay's evidently doesn't pay to advertise in the local restaurant guide, which piqued my curiosity -- but it may be that they don't need to. My wife and I had a small, late dinner after a long day touring the local parks, and we found ourselves seated on the very pleasant outdoor patio overlooking the side street. The place was busy on a weekday night, and we weren't sure what to expect. What a pleasant surprise. The Pasta Note with chicken we shared was a heaping bowl of ziti crammed with large pieces of chicken, big button mushrooms, artichoke hearts, broccoli pieces and sun-dried tomato, wonderfully seasoned with a pink cream sauce. It was more than the two of us could handle -- and then some -- but it was a dish with real personality and succulent texture and flavors. If the rest of Jay's menu is up to this standard, it would definitely be a cut or two above the standard tourist town fare. read more

I had a late lunch here. Ate by myself, and they did not flinch when they gave me one of the best tables on the patio. I later noticed they sat a loner gentleman next to me on the patio. LOL Had the giant stuffed shell special and found everything wonderful. The meat sauce on that dish was to die for and I soaked up every drop with my bread!! Great 5 dollar kids meals that include drinks. The kids manicotti was awesome and the spaghetti and meatballs featured real, prepared meatballs. Yuck! If you want old, over priced, NASTY food then this is the place for you! My husband and I ordered a garden salad to share and what we got was brown lettuce, 3 olives maybe 6 pieces of shredded cheese and a teaspoon of dressing. Hoping our meals would make up for it, we didn't say anything to the awkward waiter. We were disappointed when our drab dinners showed up, we gagged half down then asked for our check; now I don't mind paying $50 for a nice dinner but was mortified when we paid that for such disgusting and obviously old food! I don't know how so many people like this place but I'm guessing they've never had decent Italian food... don't waste your time or money! If you want Italian, go find an Olive Garden.... at least you'll get FRESHLY grated cheese. read more

Let's start with, I am an Italian from New York. I've grown up eating and making good Italian food. This is not it. Let's break it down by the numbers. 1) They put 4 people at a table just big enough for 2. The plates were hanging off the edge of the table. There wasn't enough room for anything. 2) The salad was served before the appetizer. ( I know not a big deal, but hey, I'm on a roll ) It was an arugula and spinach salad ( should be very flavorful all on it's own ) The dressing completely overwhelmed the dish. ($8/) 3) The spinach and artichoke dip was very overly salted and served from the broiler burned on the edges. 4) The special, shells stuffed with shrimp and scallops in a white clam sauce, was again overly salted, served from the broiler and burned on the edges. 5) Ravioli and meat balls ( simple right?) Sauce was again overly salted and served from the broiler, burned on the edges. The cheese on the inside was all dried out. The meat balls were bread and basil. 6) The Chicken and Eggplant Milanese- same sauce too salty and again broiled and burned. 7) Pasta with Marinara, Alfredo and Pesto sauce with a side of shrimp. The Alfredo sauce was good and it was the only dish that wasn't broiled. Food should be simple. The flavor of the ingredients should shine through. That does not happen here. My final impression, this was a restaurant that just stopped caring. The meal above without alcohol was $115 before tip. It is a tourist town, that won't see most people ever again. read more

Would give this zero stars if I could. Horrible service, the waitress yelled at me and charged me double my ticket after I refused to pay 20% tip since she didn't really serve us at all. We had to ask other servers for help because our waitress did not tend to us. We had fussy kids and had to wait longer than people who arrived after us. Her excuse for charging me double was that "I frustrated her and so she charged me wrong". Unfortunately I had limited funds in my account and have still not received the reimbursement for my double charge. The manager wasn't much help either she wouldn't look us in the eyes and just said "sorry there's nothing I can do you told the waitress it was fine". Seriously was a joke, have never had a worse experience in my life. I just don't want others to have an experience like mine. Don't go there unless you don't mind little service and help. My family and I ate at Pasta Jay's in Moab last night and were very disappointed. After we sat down 20 minutes went by with no one coming to our table. We finally asked the busboy who our waiter was and he finally came. His personality was fairly abrupt and not very pleasant. We started with 2 glasses of wine...about 20 minutes later we were still waiting for these. They arrived in very small tasting glasses. When we finally got our food we ordered, which took as long as everything else we waited for, it was obvious it had been sitting in the heating window for way too long. My daughters mac and cheese had a top layer that was now crusted over and chewy so she had to dig down to the bottom of her bowl to get any decent noodles. My manicotti suffered the same fate as the top was now burnt on top and chewy as well. By the end of the meal we felt rushed to pay our meal and leave. Unfortunately this is the only Italian restaurant in downtown Moab, however, I would not recommend going due to the food quality and service. read more

Very busy place on a Thursday night but they seated our party of six fairly quickly. The waitress was nice and took our order quickly. The food took longer than expected but was very good. Everyone in our party liked what they ordered. My only issue was that we never saw our waitress again after she took our order even though I saw her attending other tables. Perhaps under staffed? Someone else brought the food and she was not particularly friendly or helpful. They left a pitcher of water but never refilled our water or soft drinks, never checked to see if we needed anything else. Didn't bring the check until we had long since finished our meal and 5 of the 6 had actually left the restaurant. I was then surprised to find an automatic tip of 20% added to our bill. Not typical for a party of 6 and not deserved for the service we received. So food, good. Service not so good. Auto tip of 20% for not good service, bad form. Not likely to go back. read more
