I have been going to Pastryland for many years. LOVE their pastries and yes pizzas. However, today will be my last visit. Many times, I was unhappy with how the staff stuff the pastries in a box that is too small. I noted to the young lady today that she put a chocolate mousse slice of cake on top of other pastries. She responded it will be ok. Well, when I arrived home and opened the box, the top of the cake was half stuck to the box top and the pastries below were smashed. A good piece of cheesecake was ruined with the chocolate mousse cake. Sorry, but this has been an ongoing problem with Pastryland and the staff don't care. read more

I tried several items from here and enjoyed them all! I will say that they had one of the best cannoli I've ever eaten! Even better than the overpriced ones on Federal Hill! The mascarpone filling was perfect and the shell was super crunchy and flavorful. I'm torn between this and the amazing cinnamon rolls as my favorite item from this bakery. My goodness -- they were beyond soft, but not underdone, and the filling had hunks of apples in it! Heaven! The blueberry twist was also yummy -- perfect texture on the pastry. Chocolate filled shortbread was tasty as well; my friend said he thought it was a little dry, but I thought it was perfect. Love love love their calzones and pizza. I haven't had a bad one yet! I used to work around the corner so this was always a nice go to for lunch. My faves are the buffalo chicken calzone and the veggie pizza. The crust is so good! Crunchy crust but soft doughy pillowy goodness. Got there late tonight so they didn't have either of those left so I got a chicken parm, sausage and rabe and an Italian calzone. All were very good! You can call and order pizza ahead of time. There's always plenty of packaged cookies, biscuits and biscotti. Not a sweets person but my friends love their pastries and desserts. Ohhh my goodness, I am so lucky to have this place so close to home! The girls are always so kind, patient, and knowledgable. I came in yesterday and ordered a cappuccino and Apple pastry. Hands down, the best cappuccino I have ever had. The Apple pastry was unreal! They did a great job with my husband's 40th birthday party cake. I couldn't physically go there, and when I called I asked if I could go back and forth via email (the girl who picked up said no way). I am a florist, and we always have brides and grooms from out of state so there has to be a way. (This is my only complaint and you will see why if you continue reading.) Came in for lunch and ended up going back for dessert later in the day. The pulled pork calzone was very good came hot already without waiting for them to heat it. Definitely a plus especially if your on lunch, like I was. After work I found myself there again getting dessert. I ended up getting a tiramisu canoli, pistachio canoli, slice of peanut butter cake AND oreo cheesecake slice. The cannolis were amazing. My hunny is a HUGE pistachio fan, he loved it. My wife and I got a pizza strip and a calzone for lunch. Took it home, and the dough was raw. Gross. My wife called and explained the pizza was dough with sauce, and the (grumpy) girl on the phone didn't care. She didn't even apologize. We won't go back. Great selection of pastries... as one would expect with the business name. Most of the girls behind the counter are friendly and provide good customer service. I have gone here time and time again to get a spinach pie. It's now going on less than 50% of the time that I get a good one. When it is good, it's great- seasoned well, filled with spinach (not too doughy) and just the right level of crunch in the dough. When it's bad, it's unseasoned and the bottom of the pie is hard as a rock that one might be concerned with chipping a tooth! I attribute this to be a result of the pies sitting on a food warmer all day and thus getting overcooked on the bottom. Not sure how no one has noticed this.. I can no longer get a pie there anymore unless I go early in the morning and even still... I am weary. If the spinach pies were consistent, I would be there weekly at least. Also, have to mention that they have my least favorite eggplant calzone in the state. Usually one or two pieces of eggplant and undercooked with hardly any sauce. Mostly dough and breadcrumbs. I find that their pizza also is very stingy with toppings. Anyways, I'll be back for the pizza dough and maybe a coffee. read more

I placed an order for brunch pastries for the day after my wedding. My maid of honor picked them up and was shocked to find that they didn't have the cheese danish I had ordered. maid of honor: "Why are there no cheese danish?" clueless girl behind the counter: "Oh, he didn't feel like making them today." maid of honor: "WHAT? Overall everything was pretty good A tad too much powdered sugar on the cookie and bismark though. They were also out of plain cannoli early in the afternoon, my fav. The brownie was ok but nothing I would go out of my way for. They sell pizza chips here and make the cutest giant cupcakes. Nice seating inside and a bar area. The pizza slice was really good. I would prefer regular pizza dough over whatever bread they use for the pizza pocket. I did not see prices or labels on anything, a major pet peeve. This place has everything now, they have a full bar, a cafe, they serve pizza and calzones and they have, as the name would suggest, some of the best pastries in the state! The calzones are amazing, the ham and peppers, steak and cheese and sausage and peppers are all selections you can't go wrong with. If you go with the pizza, just go with the classic bakery style pizza. I grew up on this stuff, instant nostalgia.... The pastries are amazing. Cream puffs, zeppoles, jelly rolls and the best brownies I have ever had in my life. You might as well add on a couple pounds when you walk in the door, but the pastries are certainly worth it! I was excited to try Pastryland basically because I liked the name of it...and because I love pastries :). So, I stopped in to buy a birthday cake for my boyfriend and I thought they had a nice selection and a cute shop. I picked out a beautifully decorated cake and thought it was going to be amazing. Well, it wasn't all that great. The frosting tasted good but the cake itself was very dry. Personally I like a moist cake and this was not at all. So i'd give them an A for appearance and a C for quality. This doesn't mean I won't ever go there again I'll just try something different then cake. read more

Their Zeppoli pastries are mar-vel-ous. My all-time favorite are the spinach pies with cheese, olives and pepperoni and those beautiful fruit tortes no everything LoL. I'd like to rate this place higher because they're local and their pastries are really good. But their customer service is horrendous. If you want good pastries come here, if you want something that involves human interaction go else where. Their rude, they won't get it right, and then try to charge more to correct their mistake. I ordered a cake for my son's birthday party, the final result wasn't we had wanted, no biggie...we asked them to change it to what we had asked for...they more or less said that we had made the mistake and they were going to charges us to fix it. Still the worst, rudest customer service I've ever experienced. I was greeted with a shrill "CAN I HELP WHOEVER IS NEXT" when I was the only person standing at the counter. I ordered 2 zeppole and she asked me what kind. And God help me, I asked what different kinds there were (because there are still no signs indicating what's what in their pastry case) and she bit my frigging head off. I got my zeppole, paid for them and got an insincere "have a nice day" before I left. All kidding aside, these people need a serious wake up call, it's the same BS every single time I go there. And to clarify, the only reason I even keep going is because my parents like it and ask for their pastries...regardless, it seriously pains me to give any of my money to this business. Pastryland has the best Calzones I've ever had. This is the only place I will buy them from. Service is generally very quick. Staff is prompt and courteous. Parking is easy in and out. Price is comparable to other locations. The only downside is that they are closed on Monday. read more

It's not good when you ask them if they're able to make a cake for your daughter's birthday and they say they have a new cake decorator working for them they would check and get back to you. No response I have given plenty of my business to them and an answer is all I needed if a simple cake could be made. I would have rather heard NO than to be ignored. read more
