    Huge Cinnamon roll

Another local place in the Kaanapali area. The cinnamon rolls were really good. No need to wait in line at Papi's Ohana. We also had the option to eat these delectable pastries right by the ocean.

We were staying nearby and hubby picked up a few things from here and it was all delicious. We got the banana bread, cinnamon roll, chocolate croissant, avocado toast and breakfast toast with eggs.

It is an Argentinian run family business it seems. We tried the pau vegan empanadas. were delicious. I tried one first and then ordered two more. The guy that took our order gladly charged us just the difference of the amount we paid for one. One is 7.25 and 3/20.00.

    Berry cheesecake

Food: 4.9/5 Service: NA/5 Value: 4.7/5 Stopped by and was mesmerized by their berry cheesecake, and oh my goodness it didn't disappoint. If you're ever around here, would STRONGLY recommend the cheesecake. The cheesecake is thick, the crust is even thicker, and the berry glaze adds a nice sweetness that's not too sweet while there are whole blueberries inside to add just a touch of tanginess to some of the bites you take. We loved it so much we came back a second time close to closing but they were out of the cheesecake already. What a bummer but glad I got to experience it once.

    Display case of beautiful pastries.

The pastries on display in the cases all looked delicious and screamed EAT US. I succumb easily to pastry pressure so we got a brownie and a piece of coffee cake (blueberry). The brownie was ooey and gooey with crispy edges. I am not a chocoholic so one bite was good enough for me, though warm and topped with a scoop of ice cream would have been amazing. The coffee cake was oddy devoid of flavor and not something I'd order again. Staff wasn't particularly helpful but maybe it's because they were busy and only had two people behind the counter. The empanadas looked good and I could be persuaded to go back and try them. But I think I'll skip the sweets.

Clearly I was sold at fresh sourdough, they sell individual rounds, fresh from the oven and even better with local honey and butter. We also snagged a few empanadas to heat up throughout the week with a side of cheesecake, so all in we were pretty happy with our first try of Pau. The staff are friendly and the vibe is welcoming.

I love to explore neighborhoods when I travel and we were in the Honokowai area of Lāhainā taking in the beautiful ocean views from the Honokowai Beach Park and noticed Pau Bakery across the street. Well they had me at Bakery, great small establishment filled with fresh baked goods packed full of flavor. Some seating inside but essentially a grab and go place. Staff is very friendly and helpful, offering free samples as you peruse the cases filled with both sweet and savory treats as well as mini cakes. Decided to pick up a few sweet items and went with the cinnamon rolls, the coffee cake and the bread pudding. The savory case was filled with house made empanadas of various proteins and vegetables, they looked amazing but figured will have to return for those since we were heading out for the day and had no way to keep them until we got back to the resort. The cinnamon roll was very good, the perfect amount of sweetness combined with cream cheese to make the ultimate icing, and it's not drenched in icing so the ratio of dough to icing was spot on. They are good sized so you could actually share it and still feel like you weren't shorted of deliciousness. The coffee cake was prepared with blueberries and had a streusel type topping, cake was light and flavorful. The bread pudding was tasty, dense and not too sweet, we tried a few bites but will enjoy it more when we get back to our resort and can warm it up a bit. All and all it was a great find in a quiet little beachfront neighborhood. Great place to pick up fresh bakery to have with your coffee in the morning's while taking in the fresh ocean air and the sounds of the waves bringing that Maui zen. Well done Pau Bakery, I will be back to try your savory empanadas next Mangiamo e dulce tutti. Ciao

Located about a mile down from the Times market on Lower Honoapiilani Rd in Kaanapali this little gem I found by chance and SO thankful I did; coincidentally it is located right next to Bad Ass coffee. Pau is Italian owned and Italian operated and I don't think of the several times that I visited did I encounter any one of the staff who didn't have an Italian accent. Pau was amazing in every way; the quality of the coffee, the expertise in which it was prepared and friendliness of the staff. Let's not also forget the quality of their unbelievable pastry selection and empanadas. I could sit there all day and eat the empanada's; I only sampled the chicken and beef and both were equally delicious!! . Go online and take a look at their menu as they have other options as well regarding food to eat for breakfast etc. Now I would be remiss if I didn't mention that I have been to Bad Ass coffee on previous visits before and I absolutely have no idea why people continue to wait in long lines at Bad Ass when in my opinion Pau's quality and service is far superior... it can't be because of price as a 12 ounce latte with a double shot of espresso is only $5.50 at Pau. I honestly feel you will not regret giving ' this little slice of Italy' a shot and when you do I think there's a good chance you'll be hooked liked I am. "Also make sure you get there fairly early and grab a warm fresh baked loaf of sourdough bread...SO GOOD" They open at 7am and close at 2pm... small parking area but a a lot of people coming and going so it's pretty easy to grab a spot.

We got to Pau around 8am on a Thursday morning and only waited about 10-15 minutes to order and get our food. We ate across the street at the park which was nice. They have a pretty big menu from breakfast and lunch sandwiches, to empanadas, to sweets and pastries. Good coffee menu also. Great experience overall.

I went in for the Empanadas and they did not disappoint. I have been back a second time already. Highly recommend, hot or cold. They have so many other good offerings, you are literally spoiled for choice for breakfast and lunch. Highly recommend and the staff are so friendly ad service is quick. I just need another week to try more items. Enjoy.

    Beef empanada meh

Came for the empanada. Just a tad disappointed. The place was fully stocked on them. Maybe I got the wrong one. I got the beef. Not so flaky. No flavor in the filling. Also had to wait about 10 minutes for the thing. Staff is great though!

We tried the empanadas, bagel sandwich, and the cinnamon roll. Everything was great!! The empanadas were just as good as the ones we had in Spain and cinnamon roll was so flavorful! I would definitely come back.

Large selection. Ordered cinnamon roll, beef empanadas and lilliko bar. Cinnamon roll was very good. Empanadas and lilliko bar were only ok.

Reservation, and free street parking, with a little wait outside on the street until we were…read moreseated, on a table that welcomed our party by name on the paper tablecloth. Nice touch. Our server Katie was excellent throughout the evening, chatty but quick, informative and helpful, making sure we had everything we needed and that we were happy. They were short staffed (most restaurants in Lahaina are now) and didn't have a bartender that night, so no cocktails, but luckily one of the mocktails came bottled so hubby enjoyed his Phony Negroni, while I shared a bottle of the Slovenian Giocato Pinot Grigio with honey tones that complimented the meal nicely, and was an unusual addition to their wine menu. What did we eat you ask? Salumi e Formaggi - We chose the Mortadella and Fontina which came with pickled tomatoes and grapes (oh so moreish). The Mortadella with pistachio wasn't as tasty as we expected but the cheese was nutty and excellent, and the little crackers accompanying them had a pleasant aniseed flavour. A smaller size charcuterie plate for 2 for $25 but everything is imported hence the price. Calabrese Piccante Pizza - their pizzas are cooked in a pizza oven right in front of you and they smell heavenly. Crunchy, crisp base, a really fresh tomato sauce (simple but amazing) with a bite to it, and thin layers of Calabrese salami and just a touch of char on the crust. Very tasty Strozzapreti con Kale e Salsiccia - a special of the day, twisted pasta with a rich sauce of cooked kale and pork sausage. Very savoury and a good portion. (Portions are more Italian than American sized here) Acciughe Pizza - another special, and my fave, fresh anchovy pizza with fresh tomato sauce. Every slice had a fillet of anchovy on it and it was delicious! Such a treat to get fresh anchovy on island Tiramisu - served in a glass and decadent, creamy with a hit Affogato with Gelato - vanilla gelato with a strong coffee poured over, a classic, and good strong coffee Vin Santo e biscotti - a sweet dessert wine with 3 small biscotti to dip into it and savor, sweet and crunchy The restaurant is in 3 areas, a patio for outside dining, a downstairs area, and an upstairs. It is a small restaurant and popular so reservations are recommended. Nice restrooms playing jazz, quirky decor, underlit bar, small but eclectic menu, and obviously as a James Beard pick they are world renowned. The owners work hard in their restaurant and rebuilt it after the tragic Lahaina fires and they truly are making magical Italian food, true to the chef's roots. You are not only supporting a local business but also eating some of the best Italian food in the USA too! Our receipt was itemized which is a nice touch if you want to work out a bill or remember what you ordered for a Yelp review :)

Despite having open space, they made us wait until exactly 7:45 PM to be seated. The irony is that their policy charges guests a $15 fee if they are 15 minutes late, yet the restaurant shows absolutely no respect for the guests' time once they arrive. The atmosphere was chaotic and full of loud kids, but the service was the real letdown. Our waiter spent most of his night chatting and sparking long conversations with other tables while completely ignoring us. I had to flag him down just to remind him about a beer I had ordered 10 minutes prior. When it came to ordering, we trusted his recommendations--which was a massive mistake. I paid $45 for an entree that turned out to be exactly eight pieces of ravioli. The portion size was so small it felt like a child's plate, which was especially frustrating because my wife ordered the gnocchi, which was actually cheaper and way more plentiful than my micro-portion. To wrap up the night, we had to wait another 15 minutes just to get the bill while our waiter caught up with his other tables again but I blame the annoying customer he kept entertaining . When he finally brought the card reader over, he shoved the screen in my face where the minimum preset tip option was 20%. I ended up shelling out a $25 tip for someone I literally had to beg for basic service. To top it all off, the birthday dessert we ordered was a massive letdown and cost a ridiculous $20 for something that was very disappointing . Save your money and go somewhere that actually values its customers, serves proper portions, and makes you feel welcome.
