I eat at Paul Bunyan a lot, they're a great little basic burger place. Their prices are the lowest you're gonna pay, and their burgers are tasty. If I could give zero stars I would. I have given them more second chances I can count. I've gotten wrong orders, short changed, treated rudely when I caught an error. I think today is it, Bob's drive-in us in town now so I think I will go there. My order was missing items and I was given items I did not ask for. I went inside to get myy burger and fries. The female manager of the post falls was extremely rude and unprofessional . When I asked if we could eat the food that was in our bag that we ordered while we wait another 30 minutes for the burger and fries she said no and instructed the employee to throw it in the trash. I waited an hour from start to finish to get my order while the drive thru customers were served their meals first. I am diabetic I felt horrible. When I told her she acted unprofessional not even saying sorry to me once she raised her voice and excused me of eating fries that she knew she put in the bag. The younger polite employee corrected her letting her know she did not pack the bag. Then she walked away while I was speaking still no apology. She disrespected her employees in front of a customer never once looked inside my bag to see the order accused me of lying and purposingly made my food after all the other orders were done. The fry cooks at Paul Bunyan's are barkin' up the wrong tree. On a recent visit I ordered the burger joints' namesake burger, & it proved not only to be a giant disappointment, but left me with a sour stomach. Just stay away! No music, staff were super rude and they skimped ya on the tots. You have to practically beg for sauce cups as a dine in customer. Hard to imagine that fry sauce is soooo expensive you can't put the cups out for your customers to get what they want! The employee had the audacity to remind me of the one sauce cup she put on my tray for our three large combos! The place is clearly to cheap to care about the service they use to provide. I just had the WORST experience here. We ordered a large chocolate fudge shake and asked if they could add banana. Then, we ordered a large tater gem with two ranches. My daughter is allergic to tomatoes, so she can't use ketchup. Well, the little boy running the window was the rudest little punk I have ever dealt with. No greeting, no manners. Just snatched our money and then threw it back. He acted like he was about to take the stage at Madison Square Garden. I have never seen a little boy with so much attitude. This is the WORST HIRE this manager could have ever chosen. We got our shake and it was just banana. He also gave us ketchup dip after throwing the bag at us. I had to try for five minutes to get his attention. When I finally did, he gave me the ranch but told me he could not take back our dip. He wouldn't even throw it away for us! He just said, "I can't take that." and then he slammed the window, leaving us in the car with a product my child is allergic to. I didn't even have a chance to tell him about the shake being wrong. The first couple of times we came here we ordered their fish and chips and thought they were the best ever. It took awhile to get them which to me means they aren't just sitting under a heat lamp waiting for someone to order them which I like. But the 3rd time we ordered some of my wifes fish were cold on the inside. When we brought it to the employees attention they just took them away without apologizing or offering us replacements. This kind of makes sense because they are basically highschoolers working their first job and even though they should know, don't, that you should apologize and offer replacements. Awful experience. Ordered 2 burgers, fries a drink and milkshake. Only specification was no mustard on one of the burgers. After about 15 minutes (it wasn't busy at all) we finally got our food. There was mustard on the burger. Politely brought it back up to get a new one made with no mustard. After another almost 10 minutes, they brought out a burger. It was the same burger with the mustard scraped off!!! They said they could remake it. I asked if we could get refunded for that burger also, since we'd have to wait at least 20 minutes to actually eat it. She told us no, we could get a refund or another burger. The price of food at Paul Bunyan has dropped recently to $1.99 for any burger on the menu so it's tempting to drive in and grab something in a pinch which is what I did a week ago. Even though I've held the thought for many years that Paul Bunyan serves the most dreadful hamburgers in North Idaho (slightly worse than Dairy Queen), I ordered 3 double bacon cheeseburgers on my way home. Such a simple order.... Three of the same thing. I pull up to the drive-thru window and the girl working inside, who appears to be 14 years of age, takes my money and a couple minutes later hands me my order. Well, somebodies order anyway, because what I found in the bag was two burgers and an order of fries. Clearly, not what I ordered. I get the young girls attention and hand her back the bag, she apologizes and hands me another bag. No... Wait... It's the same bag with two burgers and fries. After getting her attention again she hands me a completely different bag of food.. YAY! Well, not so much yay... It's a bag with a double bacon cheeseburger, a single bacon cheeseburger and a chicken sandwich. WOW... Who would have ever thought ordering 3 double bacon cheeseburgers would be such an ordeal? Boy, tonight it reminded me why I haven't been to Paul Bunyan in 6 years; the food is marginal at best, but the service . . . good lord. It's the same problem enormous problem that I had back then, getting a "thank you" is virtually impossible. Even with a hint "THANK YOU" from me, . . .still don't get it. Granted, it's relatively inexpensive, but I still don't have to spend $$ there. The way that I see it, either appreciate my hard earned dollar with a simple thanks, or don't see me again. This place is nothing special. Prices are pretty regular, food ok at best, and service is not fast. My corn dog was ripped and fried so the hot dog was greasy and that wasn't appealing. I asked for a half chocolate half vanilla shake and it was all chocolate. The lettuce in my husbands burger was soggy and he burger patties were kind of rubbery. The fries were hot and pretty good but whatever special sauce they have with them was interesting at best. My husband had no complaints and said it wasn't worth a bad review but I found nothing great about the place and think your better off going to McDonald's. read more

Not one to complain, but horrible service even for a fast food establishment. My family and friends went in to this particular restaurant at 9:20, between all of us 60 dollars was spent on food. We tipped an additional $20 because of how late we ordered. The kids working the counter had some friends come in, and we were told we needed to leave @ 10:00 pm. They literally turned all the lights off on us at 9:55 pm while we were still eating! The owners need to be made aware of how poorly these kids treated their customers.. Not only will we ever do business with paul bunyan, but we will make anyone aware before hand that you're better off eating anywhere else.. I come here often to get a bit to eat. I love the food and the fry sauce is amazing. The one thing that is truly a huge downfall for me here is the fact that it's a fast food restaurant but the service is anything but fast. Every time I've been through the drive thru I've waited AT LEAST 10 minutes to get my food even when there's one car in front of me. Good news is...Best Shrimp dinner in the Northwest! However it is better when they provide the correct amount of Shrimp. 7 Shrimp are normally in the dinner. The last 2 times there were only 6. One time it was due to that was all they had left. But said they would replace on next visit. But I was shorted again. But the manager was rude when I called her and said that she was positive she put the correct amount in. She also suggested I was lying by stating that I must have eaten the missing ones. Very Rude! She also said I shouldn't come in anymore. Trust me ...not a problem. The manager needs an attitude adjustment. Best of luck! read more

i have only eaten here once. the food wasnt entirely awful. my biggest mistake was using their restroom. absolutely filthy. no toilet paper. and whatever the hell that crap was they were using for hand soap........what. the. hell. the best way i can describe it, there is a scene in the kevin smith film mallrats, where jason lee details the act of stinkpalming, which is sticking your hand down your backside when particularly hot and sweaty, and then shaking hands with those you wish to smite. i would have preferred that to whatever the fudge that soap was. you owe me for the hand sanitizer i ended up having to buy to squash that funk. read more

We came in from out of town and heard this was a good place to eat. Took my kids to my aunts house and my brother went to get us dinner. $42 total so not a small order. Got back and handed out the food to the kids to eat and got to the rest of it and his burger wasn't in the bag. No big deal, right? He took the receipt and drove back over to get his burger. He got there and asked for the manager. This lady comes out and they exchange words and she tells him he has to go back home, take the food from the kids and bring it all back in to prove that his $3 burger wasnt in the bag. The kids were done with their food before he even got back. So I drove down to try to talk some sense into the situation. I showed the lady the receipt and she immediately began berating me about my brother and his attitude and how she knows what he looks like and thats shes going to talk to her manager about him. I ended up having to just buy him another burger because she would not accept that they made a mistake unless I brought back all of the then eaten food to show her. Stands out as one of the WORST experiences ever with a fast food joint. I was a first time customer earlier this month and I truly regret giving them a try!!! Employees were not friendly or helpful, long line in the drive thru (I should have followed suit and left the line like the guy behind me) which included about a 2 minute wait when I finally did get to the window. All would have been forgiven had I taken home some tasty food and beverages....but no such luck. Small and gnarly serving of their "homemade fried pickles" and a sour tasting malt and milkshake. This gut churning fiasco was over $10 out of pocket. Feeling that this less than ideal first visit needed to be brought to someone's attention prompted a call to the manager. Explained my experience and told her that I felt a refund was in order. I was asked to bring back the food, which I did, and was promptly refused a refund per the owner's decision. They were only willing to replace the food, which I declined, so I left my contact info and asked for the owner to call me. It's been over a week and 2 requests for owner contact and still nothing!!! Never heard of any business owner behaving in such a way.....taking your money with one hand and flipping you off with the other. So much for supporting local businesses. read more

I am SHOCKED at the response I received from the manager tonight when I called to report this is the second time in two weeks I went through drive through and did not receive what I ordered for my child. This lady jumped on me and accused me of changing my story several times and that she would not replace my order! I said "you will replace my hamburger!" and she said "if you come down here and make a scene I will call the cops!" Totally over the top response to a customer - over a hamburger! She screamed at me and then hung up and when I returned her call, she was on the phone to the owner and she told me I could not talk to the owner as "that is what they hire managers for!" On my way home from work, stopped to get a large huckleberry shake for my son because today is his birthday and he loves those! At the drive through order board they told me they'd be with me in a minute. Only a couple of minutes later they took my order, nicely. Drove to the window and watched them inside. No one was at the counter inside so I was wondering why it was taking so long to come to the window. When he finally did, he was not very nice. No big deal, sometimes you have a bad day. He took my money and gave me my change and receipt. Then I waited. I watched as he made four or five other shakes, that I could tell were not the large I ordered. Since there was nobody at the counter ordering, I wondered if he was making the shakes for the folks behind me before mine. Eleven minutes later he came to the window without a shake and asked me if I hadn't already gotten my shake, like, what are you still doing here? I asked for my money back and he got even nastier. He asked for my receipt and I looked at him puzzled why he needed a receipt. He told me if I didn't have a receipt I couldn't get a refund. (Since it had been more than ten minutes, I can understand him forgetting he had just given it to me.) When I produced it, he gave me my money in a very nasty manner and slammed the window closed. So I waited at the window. When he returned, I asked his name and he said he didn't have to give it to me and that I should go. Three teenagers in the store, no clue what they're doing. And my son gets no huckleberry shake on his birthday. But we'll find a decent restaurant tomorrow and celebrate, a little late. And not the first time I've had trouble at that particular branch. Had great service at the others in the area, but the Idaho street store tends to be careless, unprofessional kids who either have no training or don't have a clue about customer service. We went to Paul Bunyan late night, on our way to WA. As soon as I walked into the place, I thought, "Wow, this place is so generic, bare." There are barely to no decorations and design, it feels so bland and like one of those 'run down, about to die, places'; yet I thought, "You never know, this place could still have amazing food... Second thought... these prices are great... but sometimes you get what you pay for, what's in store for me...? I ordered hotzarellas and a pizza burger... hotzarellas were OKay.... I enjoyed the emphasized spiciness, pizza burger was horrible. Hamburger buns.... dried up red sauce on each bun, thin and processed as heck burger, slice of processed american cheese. It tasted AND looked as if it was sitting on the counter all day. I almost didn't even bite into it, let alone take another bite after the first... but I was hungry and it's hard for me to not eat food that I pay for. I dipped each bite into an over abundance of fry sauce to cover the taste; unfortunately the fry sauce wasn't very good. It's stored in bottles on the counter... all day. Isn't mayo supposed to be refrigerated? Gross. My significant other got chicken tenders and fries... we figured those were okay... who could mess those up when they're just frozen and you cook from then? We both did not finish our meals, and this food experience was the only negative thrown around during our whole trip. Our experience at Paul Bunyan showed us that we will never eat there again; experience was great though, we will have this story to pass on to others. Not good. The "Paul Bunyan" name is a great first impression, but once foot is set indoors, that ends... Please, seeing another business die is so devastating. Make important changes so that we can all be happy. I'd love to see a difference when I go back to my place of destination next summer. If there is change, I'd love to take back my review if I'm not too afraid to try a taste at this place again. read more
