Our large fry order was EXCELLENT! Perfectly golden , HOT and crunchy on the outside SOFT in the center. Served in a white paper bag ...it's been a LONG time since we had fries this good!! I ordered a double cheese w/bacon. My hubs order single cheeseburger. Both were very tasty, hot w/ melted cheese ( thou a tad overcooked) & our request for light sauce made it perfect. WE WERE WORRIED ABOUT THIS LOCATION because of the bad reviews about service. No one was there when he ordered. The teen at the window was ok... at least it wasn't a rude experience.... & we were worried the food wouldn't be good. I'm hoping this wasn't a one off experience.... We usually go to the Rathdrum location since it's consistently very good. This one is closer...so I'm hoping for a repeat next time because there's nothing better than an excellent bag of hot golden fries with a very good cheeseburger! Eat your heart out McDonalds! I ran inside to use the restroom while my hubs ordered... I must mention that the inside which is quaint & brimming with opportunities for a redesign... was really dirty.... The waste basket, the tables , the glass ... so I thought if they aren't paying attention to cleaning ..the food is probably going to suck.... Stopped by after walking the North Idaho Centennial Trail. Saw the sign for huckleberry shakes and we couldn't resist. I got the double whammy, fries and a huckleberry shake. My family really loves Paul Bunyan. My girls love the milkshakes and the burgers are really good as well. They have a large variety of milkshake flavors and they even have seasonal flavors. Huckleberry is a favorite when it's in season. We've never had any issues with the quality of the food. It isn't spectacular, but it's really good. It's exactly what you should expect from a burger stand burger. So why four stars? A couple of things for this location. First (and other reviews have touched on this) the people who work here are not exactly... friendly. It's not as though they're rude, but they all act like they have somewhere else they'd rather be. Almost like they're mildly irritated that you're asking them to do something. Second, the parking is awful. It's a very small lot and it's difficult to get in and out of. Third, the location is difficult to get in and out of (did I say that already)? All in all, we like this place. We'll definitely be back, but it could be better. read more

I don't know if it's this location or something but the service was horrible. Me and my family went out to eat after a nice walk and decided to go to Paul Bunyan. We went through the drive through and ordered two ultimate whammy combos and one just the burger, she asked about the order and resaid the order atleast twice. We go up to the window and I pay but only get 1 ultimate whammy's combo and the 1 burger but I didn't get the other one and I told her about it. I paid for it and she gave me another fry and I asked for the receipt because I'm still missing my burger. I told her about that and she very much aggressively said that it's not paid for and she didn't ring it up and I said that I will pay for it. She then decided to yell and say "Dont talk to me like that" mind you all I said was I will pay for it. We drove off without the burger and she flicked us off and cussed us out. Decent thin burger for a great price. Fair amount of fries. Small dining are- most seem to go thru drive-thru. Better than chain places but not as good as restaurants, of course. Friendly staff and food comes out fairly quickly (it is cooked to order, so it does take a little time). read more

Great food! Good service. Reasonable prices. Job openings, and the stretched staff haven't dusted every table perfectly, but they can manage to be nice and they produce really good food! We had the Blue Ox Burgers which are great. I wish I had ordered another one. We also got chocolate milkshakes that had the best flavor! We are really happy that we stopped at Paul Bunyan 's. The parking lot is very small and the drive thru goes right through it so I was glad we backed into our parking space. This restaurant is easy to find and the food is great. Everything from the food to the Huckleberry shakes, to the staff was so great! The employees were patient and kind. The drive thru is a little tricky but worth even effort to pull thru. Our order was made quickly and started after we ordered so it felt a bit more personal. I would totally return over and over again just to have that Huckleberry Shake! You really can't go wrong with anything huckleberry. But since it's available fresh in the area it makes it that much better. This is the best of the Paul Bunyans in North Idaho and definitely a great fast food restaurant. Find myself here more and more as of late.. I side di I g too cramped for me but the staff here serves the food much quicker than the other couple locations and the quality is really good, some of the best fast-food burgers (maybe the best fast-food burgers) that I've ever had. Drive thru and parking lot are small, awkward and a little challenging but very interesting.. Paul Bunyan is a local burger joint in and around the CDA area and I've got to say they make a pretty decent burger. I grabbed lunch here last week and was pleasantly surprised. I have had mixed experiences at Paul Bunyon's. I will do my best to give a quick overall recap. The first time I went there, it was very good. Quick service, everything hot and ready. However, each of the next two times my experience got slightly worse. Overall, it is a good but not great burger place. Burgers are a little squashed, but that is to be expected at a fast food place. This isn't the Four Seasons. The fries are pretty good, and they have quite a bit of selection on the menu. This past fall/winter I had a fantastic s'mores shake, it was a seasonal thing but I would love it if that was brought back permanently. Employees have been decent but not great. The last time I was there around 4 high schoolers were working, not sure who was in charge. Food was only okay and they were sharing some pretty lewd weekend/late night stories in high voices. It was pretty awkward, I don't think they realized how much their voices were traveling. Overall, I will stop at Bunyons again. It is an affordable burger joint and I do not expect it to be perfect, but it could be improved. read more

OK, so I can't vouch for the legitimacy of the burgers and fries, but I'm guessing by the number of teenagers and septuagenarians crammed into their little dining area that PB does it up right. Why didn't I try a burger? Because I was lured in by the promise of huckleberry milkshakes, and besides, I had a Dangerous dog cooling its heels on the seat next to me. The shake was great, by the way. There were real, whole huckleberries. What?! I know. I actually removed the lid and drank the dregs (milkshake foam) because I wanted every single damn huckleberry. My entire extended family, save for mine and my cousin's, lives in coeur d'alene, idaho. every summer of my life and a couple winters we have made the journey to my grandma's little house on the lake, where we go to swim, visit family, and eat at my dad's old favorite burger joints. this one is about five minutes form grandma's house, so it's a much visited site by my family. try the bunyan burger or the babe the blue ox burger or the pizza burger. i personally don't eat meat anymore which doesn't give me a lot of options, but the fries and fry sauce are top notch and the shakes are perfect on summer days. they usually feature lots of local berry flavors (i like the huckleberry) among the usual candy bar type flavors. just a taste of the small town life that my parents must have lived. that's what i think about every time we stop at bunyan burger. read more

Paul Bunyan was a staple when I was a kid. My father's favorite burger spot in CdA, we were sure to stop for burgers and fries before our drive home to Spokane. Not being a Washingtonian for many moons now, I was pleasantly impressed to see it was still serving their delicious burgers when we came to visit CdA this summer.
