My friend recommended Pauli's in Boston, so of course I had to try it! We were hungry for breakfast and ordered the Hot Lobster Rolls, Clam Chowder, and a breakfast plate with toasted bread, eggs, steak, and potatoes. The food was so delicious! The breakfast was a bit oily, but the clam chowder and lobster rolls were absolutely amazing. Since there were three of us, it was easy to share everything. Definitely worth it, the food was great, the place had a nice vibe, and the front desk staff were really friendly. Honestly, I'd love to try more, but since we're just visiting, we'll save room for other spots too. read more

I opted to Grubhub my lunch on a chilly afternoon. I ordered the skinny vinny and some clam chowdah. Delivery was super quick, but the order was messed up. I got a chicken wrap instead. Sucked arse, but at least Grubhub reimbursed me for the sandwich. The wrap was pretty salty with type of caesar dressing they used plus the grated parm cheese. The chicken itself was okay. Kind of ruined my lunch as I was looking forward to the vinny sandwich and not some basic chicken wrap. I would def not order the chicken caesar ever....the clam chowdah on the other hand was pretty delicious. Flavorful, creamy and hearty. 0 stars for the chicken caesar wrap (boring and salty) 4.5 stars for the clam chowdah I'll give this joint another shot as their other sandwiches look really good. read more

The food is amazing. I had the Hot lobster roll and it was the best I have had. And we come here once a year and try new ones every time. The lobster tasted super fresh and the buttery roll was a huge plus. My buddy had the steak bomb and and it was huge and very good. The price for what you get is excellent. They staff is friendly and helpful. It does get pretty busy so don't expect them to cater to your every question. With that it is a small shop so there are only a few seats. Don't expect an open seat but you could lick out and get one. Definitely gonna come back and try their other sandwiches. They also were making a custom 6ft lobster roll(Pictured). read more

Amazing no fuss lobster roll! The roll had tonssss of lobster on it and comes with a bag of chips. One of the best lobster rolls in Boston! Bummer. Super disappointed by the gf lobster roll. It was super chewy and tough lobster. My husband's meatball sub was good but nothing special. And it was all crazy expensive! Service was ok. It was cramped and there was nowhere really to sit so it's more of a grab and go but there seating at a nearby park. read more

This is a small, mostly takeaway establishment located in/near what seems to be an Italian neighborhood on the north side of Boston. Away from the hustle and bustle of quincy market/faneuil hall et al. It's next to a very popular, more high-end restaurant called Neptune which had a 1+ hour wait line. It's a bit grungy, there are maybe 10 stools here where you can have a quick bite. They have a $29.99 lobster roll (hot or cold) and a clam chowder ($7 or $12 sizes). I just wanted a quick bite to eat so had the clam chowder - it was so good I had a second bowl. The quality control is not so good because the second bowl had wayyy more clams and potatoes than the first one but they were both very, very delicious. None of that fishy taste or smell that most clam chowders come with. They wrap your clam chowder in a ton of plastic wrap even if you're eating in which I didn't appreciate - seems like an awful waste of plastic. The oyster crackers were delicious. read more

Honestly one of the best spots in Massachusetts. Anyone who's been to Paulis loves it. Their sandwiches are incredible. They are extremely affordable too. Generous portions, you might even get two meals out of your order. Cute spot right in the North End. Not a ton of room to eat, but more of a take out spot anyways. Came here for their lobster roll and it didn't disappoint! The bread was soft and the lobster meat was plentiful (I had to scoop some out just so it would fit into my mouth/wouldn't spill). Paid too much for it (few bucks more than others I've been to in Boston). There was a line but it moved fairly quickly. There's only a handful of spots to sit in the small corner of the place but we got lucky and snagged some seats at the counter. read more

Wow, wow, wow for all the 4 and 5 stars! Ya'll don't get out often or you haven't had a great lobster roll. Pauli's is overrated, over priced and both lobster rolls, hot and cold are nothing special. All claw meat, no flavor and so many better choices in the area. Don't get caught in the tourist trap Pauli's is, definitely would never go back. read more

I came here because it was listed as a place that has the best lobster roll in Boston. And it was good, but for $29 I was expecting a bit more. The restaurant space is very small, with some bar stool seating, no tables. No problem, I knew that from the Yelp reviews anyway. But Yelp also said that they have alcohol, which they definitely do not. Sort of a bummer since a white wine would've been SO much better with the lobster than a Diet Pepsi. I would not have come here if I knew they didn't have wine. But I know that's not the restaurant's fault. The only reason for the 3-stars is because for the money I paid it was really just fine. Not at all bad, but nothing impressive. I will say though that the guy behind the counter was very welcoming & friendly. read more

Yummy and quick lobster rolls here! This small spot has a bigggg menu, I usually don't go for sandwiches but they really had something for everyone! After ordering, the staff were so friendly and quick to make my lobster roll. The lobster was not the best that I've had, but decent and fulfilled my lobster roll craving. They piled in the lobster too, which I liked. I don't think it was a super special roll, but that might be because I simply ordered the cheapest roll. I will have to try their other specialty sandwiches to make a full judgement! I mostly recommend this place due to their quick preparation time and ease of access in the North End. No fancy frills, just quality sandwiches, some unique combinations, and authentic flavors. Super Mario, what can I say? A combination like no other, meatballs with a side of mozzarella sticks. A local spot for sandwiches but they're known for their lobster. We got a huge spread of both hot and cold Lobster Rolls which came with chips and freshly fried fries. We also got the Lobster Avocado Salad which was very generous and refreshing. They're very generous with their lobster in the rolls as well. Their Clam Chowder was a must, honestly my favorite thing. So many clams! So hearty and comforting. I can see why they're a favorite. Service was fast, friendly, and casual. We wanted lobster (specifically a lobster roll) and this place came up with high stars near us. The offer a cold or hot lobster roll option. For this visit we went with hot. They give you a lot of meat for the roll (25ish bucks). I do think it could have been a little more buttery but it wasn't bad. I saw a few people ordering chowder but we didn't get any on this visit. This place is easily passable in the mist of all the places on the block but a good one to drop by. Not a lot of space inside so you may have to dine elsewhere or wait for a spot. read more

So, so good. 100% worth a visit if you're in the area and/or visiting. Pro tip - we saw a HUGE line where we thought Pauli's was and it turns out it was for Neptune Oyster, the restaurant next door. We spent ~10 minutes waiting in the wrong line only to realize that Pauli's was next door. Once we got in, we were able to order relatively quickly and our order came out piping hot. We walked over to the nearby park (Rose Kennedy Greenway) to enjoy our meal and take advantage of the amazing weather that day. We got the hot buttered lobster roll with fries, as well as clam chowder. The hot buttered lobster roll was jam packed with succulent fresh lobster meat. Fries were good, nothing super special. However, the clam chowder...one of the best (if not THE best) clam chowder I've ever tasted. It was creamy, rich, and had just the right amount of seafood flavor. If I ever get a chance to go back, I would love to try some of their other sandwiches as well! read more

It's phenomenal... that simple. I thought it was going to be three bites but I was surprisingly full at the end. I got a warm one and a cold one and I actually much preferred the warm one! This place was pretty damn busy and yet the staff were absolutely incredible and friendly! Downfall: it's tiny so don't expect to sit and eat.... Very limited seating.... Okay, kind of disappointed but still leaving a good rating since I knew what we were missing. Food -lobster roll. It was good, the bread was bad though. The lobster didn't have the sweetness I was looking for and wasn't as buttery even tho I ordered a hot butter. We needed to add salt to it to carry the flavor. Aside from the bread, the lobster was really good! It was packed full of claw meats and was tender, just really missing the butter Service -service was fast and nice. Probably the best lobster roll in town. They even gave me a massive side of butter when I asked for extra. There is not a ton of seating and being in a popular area, you could have a wait. Food is good, Paulitician and Steak Bomb are my favorite sandwiches. However, something that really aggravates me is that they charge $0.60 - $1.20 for dipping sauce, for wings that are already $15.60 for 8 wings. That is so disrespectful, to order buffalo wings and have to pay extra for blue cheese? Ridiculous, they lost a customer over $0.60. Like pretty much all the restaurants in NorthEnd, Pauli's is another overhyped eatery IMO. Got the cold Lobsta roll. It was tiny though packed with lobster. My biggest gripe is the roll. It was stale w no mayo or butter. Since they don't seem to add any mayo to the lobster the stale roll rubs the whole thing of flavor making it bland and too dry read more

3.50 stars. If you are looking for a convenient space to enjoy a lobster roll not too far from the heart of the city, Pauli's is a good choice. You can eat inside the restaurant or just take a stroll down the block to the Rose Kennedy Greenway. There are two main types of lobster rolls you can order here: 1) cold lobster or 2) hot and buttered lobster. I tend to go with any seafood combination that uses copious amounts of butter so it was the latter option for me. I would note that they definitely do not skimp on butter! Mine was so present that the roll itself broke down and I was left with a mass of lobster. I believe the lobster rolls are seven ounces each, and they will probably not make you feel full. If you're looking for a lobster roll, there are probably a few better ones in the city. That said, this is fine if you want a quick lobster roll on the go. read more

Place seemed hoppin' Stopped in because i saw the sign for some clam chowda! The lady enjoy some chowder occasionally and so i popped in. I think it was about $11 for a half quart plastic container. Came out in about 5-10 minutes, and was piping hot. The chowder base was a tad more watery than i like, I'm more a fan of the thicker chowder. However, it has plenty of clams, potatoes and it was enjoyable. Add some salt pepper and crackers and you good to go. Would return. Staff was quick and nice with it. Place had plenty of people eating lunch. Their menu is pretty extensive and is written on all the walls. They have lobster rolls cold / toasted with butter and also some custom styles. read more

For a renown Italian sandwich shop in Boston's historic north end, their gravy (red sauce) has much left to be desired. The sauce was tart/sour which ruined their delicious chicken cutlet to make a bad chicken parm. You can tell the chicken cutlet is homemade, not the frozen commercial kind. The skinny Vinny was fine, the pesto and mozzarella were solid, but nothing amazing. The star was the chicken Caesar wrap, the grilled chicken was moist and quite delicious. read more

This is my 4th time in Boston and I wanted to try lobster roll from this touristy spot. It's wasn't too crowded luckily. I ordered the warm butter lobster roll and it came with a bag of chips. You have to order at the counter and they call your number when the order is ready. It took them 5 mins to prepare my order. My first reaction wasn't as exciting as I would expect it to be. I wasn't like "oh, it's a mind blowing roll". It was good. Nothing too fancy about it. I felt it was slight over priced compared to the one you get at James Hook & Co. You get slightly better lobster roll at James Hook for $35 compared to Pauli's for $30. Next time, I am definitely going to James Hook if I was in the area. 4 stars mostly for the beef sub my friend had. He was raving about it. Huge sub and stuffed with flavorful beef and mushrooms. I had a bite and I absolutely loved it. Maybe it's better to order chicken or beef sandwiches here. read more

Love the cool dive sandwich shop vibe of Pauli's. While they have a few seats it is more of an order to go place. We ordered one lobster roll with fries, one Pollo Pazzo, one Killer B, and one Paulitician. Cool place but thought the sandwiches were just good not great. Liked the Paulitician the best. Thought the lobster roll was pricey for what you got. We did like the fries and I am a Pepsi drinker so was happy to see they serve Pepsi. Finally, a burger worth the hefty price places charge nowadays. Wife had the Ribeye Steak Sandwich which was flavorful and plentiful, as we brought half home for lunch the next day. And surprisingly, the wine list is VERY reasonably priced. Again, if you eat out often, you know the prices for a glass of wine have risen beyond ridiculous the last couple of years. So appreciate this place for not price gouging.

My Smoked Bacon Old Fashioned with bacon infused Woodford Reserve bourbon, maple syrup, Bitters and candied bacon started my dinner with a home run cocktail. Immediately brought to our table were a round of waters and a small mason jar of their in-house made pickles - ever so slightly sweet and well balanced. Hubs eyes are always bigger than his stomach so for starters he ordered Smoked Gouda Cheese fries with chopped Poblano Peppers, Eggs & Bacon deviled eggs with candied bacon and a cup of New England Clam Chowder. They were all very good. Their menu features 5 creative beef burgers and one in house made vegetarian burger. My Capital Burger was a delicious layering of caramelized onions, Wisconsin Gruyère and shallot aioli - so good! I opted for the side of mixed greens side salad with vinaigrette and it was light and fresh. Fernando was a rock star server and made great recommendations. We will return when in Boston again!!

When walking to the table very obvious there was not many people in the restaurant just 2 people. It was around 3 pm with a ton of people outside everywhere walking. A lot of tables inside had leftover plates that people had already eaten from yet not cleaned. Quite a few employees but nobody looking busy, nobody cleaning. The booth we where given as we sat down instantly we saw how dirty the booth and table was. The booth had white stains on the backing and food all over the seat etc. The table had food on it and human hairs. Not head hairs, the pant variety, I am not even joking. If there is ONE rule I have about eating out it is cleanliness, if the booth you are sitting at is dirty, ect, it doesn't give me confidence that the plates they will put the food on will be 100% clean either. regardless to say we got up and left, told the server we were leaving. No food for us. If this was on kitchen nightmares or one of Ramsays shows he would definitely have said something and been irritated/concerned. Being his own restaurant was quite the shock. For how much the food costs, around 20+ a burger youd think the place would be clean. Grossed me out. We ended up going to the original Pizzaria Regina's where we waited in line for about an hour to get a table, Table was very clean, waitresses were spot on and the food was amazing, if anything glad Ramsays was a Sh** show or we would never have gone to Regina's. Not a good impression, maybe I can try some other Ramsays restaurant one day but most likely wont be back to this one

I love Pauli's. When I moved to the North End I went searching for my go-to breakfast omelette spot. I tried out a few different places including Anthony's & Theo's Cozy Corner. Anthony's was a bit sloppy and greasy but I liked the price. Theo's food was just mediocre and was a bit too pricey. Neither accept debit cards. I then found Pauli's. It was perfect. Great location, friendly people, robust menu, a big, delicious, neat omelette, good prices, and they accept debit cards! While everyone speaks English, it was also nice to keep my Spanish in check with some of the Spanish speaking staff. It was a match made in Heaven. I quickly became a regular. At first I was just eating omelettes for breakfast, but I soon started eating wraps and salads for my late lunch/dinner. Now, I've tried a majority of the sandwiches on the menu, a few salads, most of the breakfast options and the buffalo chicken mac and cheese. My favorites: Steak tips & eggs, sausage, egg & cheese bagel, California wrap, greek steak tip wrap, buffalo chicken wrap, Mamma Lucca, and the Pollo Pazzo. I tried to withstand the temptation, but was too tempted by the cookies. Now I allow myself one per week. These cookies are incredible!!! I can honestly say that I have been more than satisfied, at times even blown away, by the food I've eaten. It's fresh, unique, very tasty, and quickly prepared, yet doesn't come out sloppy. I also love the vibe of the place. It has a big TV, an eclectic mix of music playing, and the atmosphere is a mix of 1950's North End nostalgia and funky, modern decor. read more

Stumbled into this small spot right in the middle of the city, and wow--I'm so glad I did. It's a cozy little place that mainly serves sandwiches, but don't let the size fool you. The menu is packed with options, and they're especially known for their lobster dishes. I went for their signature hot lobster roll--and let me tell you, it lived up to the hype. The roll was absolutely packed with juicy lobster meat, soaked in warm, melted butter. Every bite was rich, comforting, and just what you'd want on a chilly Boston morning. Awesome!! Our family loves the sandwiches - all of them! Jam-packed with fresh ingredients and made-to-order, they are totally a meal in themselves. My favorite is the Skinny Vinny, and you don't have to be a vegetarian to love this sandwich. The eggplant is cooked perfectly, the mozzarella is super fresh and the pesto and roasted red peppers give just enough kick. We have tried many items on the menu. I can honestly say that anything at Pauli's, especially if it's built with a chicken cutlet, is absolutely delicious and very satisfying. Check out Pauli's Catering services if you can. I ordered for a work event. Paul was very helpful with questions about the selections and sizes. The Chicken Parm, loaded with chicken, was a big hit and the Chicken Broccoli Ziti Alfredo was rich and creamy. The food arrived hot and on time. After hearing so many amazing things about Pauli's, I was really excited to try their food. However, my recent experience left me somewhat disappointed. It's worth noting that I ordered through Uber Eats, so perhaps the quality suffered due to delivery. The chicken parm sandwich I received was underwhelming, to say the least. The taste was surprisingly bland, lacking the flavors I had anticipated. It fell short of my expectations, and I couldn't help but feel let down. Despite this, I believe it's only fair to give Pauli's another chance. I'm willing to explore the rest of their menu before making a final judgment on this sandwich spot. Hopefully, their other offerings will redeem my initial impression, as there is definitely room for improvement in the dish I ordered. Overall, my first encounter with Pauli's wasn't as impressive as I had hoped. While visiting Paul Revere's house, I was craving a mouthwatering lobster roll. HANDS DOWN THE BEST LOBSTER ROLL IN BOSTON! I've done my fair share of tastings in Boston in search of the best lobster the city has to offer. Sure, you can wait 2.5 hours at Yankee Lobster House or pay $30 at Neptune for a lobster roll like I did... but why do that when Pauli's offers a yummy lobster roll for minimal wait and half the cost? They are generous with the meat, giving the option for lobster tossed in hot butter or lobster tossed in just the right amount of cold mayo over a toasted bun. Whether it's their cold/hot roll, sub, or lobster mac and cheese... all very tasty without having to break the bank! Don't like lobster? No worries! Their wraps, other subs, and pasta are just as good!! Pauli's is honestly the best hidden gem in the North End with little wait time, great customer service, and delicious food! This has historically been my favorite lobster roll place in Boston because they offer both a chilled and a warm roll option. In the past the taste has been amazing. Highly disappointed this time. I went over the weekend, so maybe they lower the quality for the tourists who don't know any better, or maybe it was a fluke, I don't know. I think they used to butter and toast the rolls, but out of the 3 rolls we had it appeared that one was almost toasted and may have had some butter, but the other two did not. All of them were loaded to the gills with CLAW MEAT. Stop! We know the difference with quality lobster meat! Claw meat tastes like pottery clay! The onion rings and fries were garbage. And what's up with this nasty ketchup? Lucky brand? Hello, haven't you heard of the gold standard Heinz? Not only did it taste horrible, the packets were almost impossible to cut open with my fingers. Very sad. read more

As a New York native growing up with Italian friends and family, I truly appreciate this gem in the North End. After I recently moved into the neighborhood and started my new job, I began to hear the buzz on Pauli's and had to check it out myself! Paul and his team cater to my office AT LEAST once a week, and when lunch isn't served from Pauli's... I pick it up on the way home from work for dinner. Not only do I stop in for the steak tip dinner or California wrap, but most importantly, I stop in to say hi to Paul and catch up with him and his staff. I never leave less than 100% satisfied with the quality and service at Pauli's. It is clear that they have a large fan base, as I am excited to see them duke it out at Boston magazine's upcoming Battle of the Burger event with 19 other top voted restaurants. Paul and team.. While hiking The Freedom Trail, I took my group of 9 Girl Scouts there for lunch. We were very pleased with the variety and the quality. I got the eggplant parmesan sandwich, which was cooked fresh, it was not too dry, nor was it too greasy, it was perfect, with a nice flavorful sauce and cheese. Alot of the girls got roll ups, which they all loved, and the quantity was generous, and the prices very fair. The staff was very accommodating for a large group that walked in off the trail, and they were all able to sit at a long table together. The inside was bright and clean, and for those that would like to eat outside, it is convenient to take your order out across the street to the Rose Kennedy Parkway and eat outside. Place his awful gave it a few chances while i was in town since i was staying across the greenway, So many other places to go to in and around area stupid me. i placed and order waited 20 minutes seen my order go up on shelf after cooking it , asked the guy if it was mine , he looked at it and said no, so i waited 15mins more and asked where my 2 steak and cheese subs and he looked at the same subs and was like oh this is them there done, NO SHIT SAME SANDWICH I ASKED 35 MINUTES AGO. asked for a new one said they just came up, Thanks for the cold subs with cheap frozen steak-ums and government cheese. I just love this place!!!!! Where can you get such good food for a reasonable price in the north end??????? I live just around the corner on Endicott st and it`s cheaper for me to eat over there than to cook at home!!! SERIOUSLY!!!!!! The steak tips and the grilled chicken are the BOMB!!!!! The wraps are delicious and i tried the prosciutto classico the other day, WHAT A SANDWICH!!!!!!!!! Make sure to ask for some marinated roasted red peppers on it and you will love it!!!!!!! Let me say that I love this place. We come here often for sandwiches. I ususally get the Califronia wrap and my dauhters get the Buffalo fingers and tortelinni pesto. My husband generally orders the steak tip sub or the Mama Lucca wrap. A few weeks ago we were having a party and we ordered catering and it was great. We had a sandwich platter, mini arancini balls, tray of eggplant parmesan, antipasto salad, clam chowder, and a tray of lobster roll. It was fabulous, but ihave to say the lobster rolls were a hit. Pauli's was hands down one of the highlights of our trip to Boston! We even had the chance to meet the owner, Pauli himself, and he was incredibly welcoming, friendly, and genuinely appreciative of his customers. The real star of the meal was the lobster roll. It was the best I've ever had! The roll was perfectly toasted--crispy on the outside and buttery with every bite. I really like this location! Simply after I believed that I'd exhausted all good lunchtime choices within the North Conclusion, Pauliis transferred in nearby from my workplace. Our co worker and that I WOn't go-anywhere else today. My personal favorite may be the German-- ideal stability of more and beef vegetables. The Florida cover is definitely tasty and extremely distinctive for this type of balanced choice. Just reviewing the lobster rolls. I'm told the other stuff is good, but there's no way I'll ever try any of it. Not with those lobster rolls hanging around. Their rendition has twice the meat of more pedestrian rolls. The bun is a toasty, chewy number that compliments the cold lobster meat nicely. In lieu of fancy garnishes (like "mayo"), the Pauli's roll is dressed only with butter (lots of butter). I love coming here for breakfast -- their menu is always satisfying, and everything is fresh and well-prepared. But honestly, the real star is their lobster roll -- hands down, the best I've had. Perfectly buttery, tender, and packed with flavor. My only small complaint is about the front counter girls. The girls at the cash register are often on their phones and not really facing or acknowledging the customers when you walk in. That said, the food keeps me coming back, and I hope they can smooth out the service side a bit! read more

Usually this place is great for a quick lunch; however I was disappointed the last time I went here. I ordered the Mac & Cheese, it was $10. I'm all for paying for good quality and for $10 it'd better be fantastic. This was not the case, the Mac & Cheese horrible. It was Ziti in an Alfredo sauce. Definitely not Mac & Cheese, I ended up throwing the whole thing out. I will not be ordering that again. If you're going to try to pass Ziti Alfredo off as Mac&Cheese don't charge so much for it. read more

I have to say that all their sandwiches are great! But my favorite is the "Pauli-tician"! It's an italian style chicken cutlet with balsamic vinegar, prosciutto, cutlets and loaded with the good stuff. They are fast and friendly. The heavy set guy behind the register I believe it's Pauli? What a great guy! He took the time with me to explain all of the items due to the vast amounts of them. Great people great food great place. . Definately going back! P.s. I like paulis , they are quick and reasonably good., Since they are always so busy. Being vegetarian it's hard to find food and this place being next to my work I thought I found a place to get my lunch. Recently I ordered a sandwich and It was messed up . It's ok happens when it's so busy. But problem is they didn't feel it's their fault. They made me feel they don't need my business . Ofcourse ! I'm one vegetarian. And most are not.
