I went here for a brunch with family for Father's Day and it was so good. Great service and great food!

Paulo and Bill is one of my favorite restaurants. The service and the food have never disappointed me.

We've eaten at Paulo and Bills many times and enjoyed it every time. This time I gave my son a gift card so he could take his girlfriend out on their first "real" dinner date. They both loved it and said it was the perfect place (mood, setting, noise level, food, service) for a first date. read more

After 23 years, it's still a beautiful restaurant and food is always on point, excellent for a cozy date night, or taking the family out, but also excellent place to have celebratory meal. The only things I miss from the early days are the aroma of roasted garlic from a half mile away and heavy wooden front doors. read more

Very disappointed in August 2018 wine dinner. Food was not up to par as compared to previous dinners. Guest chef prepared a diner fare - very bland and served cool to the touch. Cold vegetables and congealed gravy on meat. Wine pairing was just ok. Stated our concerns to the wait staff, no manager stopped by. Of the three couples dining, 2 couples received a $10 discount and the third did not. Send an email to the manager via their web site comment section. Never heard back. Sent a letter via US postal service to the manager - again never heard back. Very poor customer service and poor quality dinner for the price paid. Many much better wine dinners in the area. It had been awhile since my last visit to Paulo and Bill (maybe a yearish ago). And had always been a favorite date night restaurant for my husband and I. So I was excited when my friend suggested meeting her here for dinner. My oh my have things changed...my first disappointment was the "Grandpa Margarita" was no longer on the menu. No fresh bread with balsamic and oil was presented to our table (has this gone away too??). One of my favorite dishes is the chicken Marsala so I ordered that and was again disappointed..I mean is was good...but not amazingly great like it had been before..this time the sauce was thin and the food portion was WAY smaller than before. Seeing how it had been so long since I've eaten here I just had to order the filo dough brownie dessert, as it's an all time favorite dessert and large enough to share with the whole table. However...I was once again disappointed...the portion was at least 50% smaller than before..and really was a completely different dessert. Again, it tasted ok...just not amazingly good like it had before. So I asked one of our servers if there had been a new chef or change in management as the food was different than I had experienced before. And she got a little defensive...and said we have the same pastry chef for the past seven years and same with same management for the past seven years. And then she said, I quote "food costs will kill a restaurant." To which I replied "Ah...there it is...so the food has changed." Again, dinner was fine....it's just not what it used to be. I wouldn't consider Paulo and Bill's "fine dining" as other reviewers have said. The cost is overpriced for what you get. I would suggest going to happy hour for drinks and appetizers. (Although a $7 martini doesn't seem like a happy hour price!) read more

Simply one of the nicest restaurants in Shawnee, P&B serves casually sophisticated Italian fare. I've been going here for many years and I've never had a bad meal. They have pasta, salads, paninis, fish, pizzas and much more and everything is wonderful.For lunch, I often choose a combo (soup/salad/pasta); for dinner, the lasagna is rather legendary. They also have a wonderful Sunday brunch. Whether you're planning a romantic dinner, brunch with friends, or a family dinner, you really can't go wrong with Paulo & Bill. read more

Everything was fantastic! I thought I couldn't be wowed by food anymore, but I was wrong! The Maytag Bleu Cheese beef medallions were phenomenal! All of the food was excellent and the service was perfect! The bar tender even knew how to make a French 75 correctly! One of the best dining experiences I've had in a very long time! read more

We used to live close and enjoyed coming here for brunch on the weekend. I used to order their tomato soup, it was amazing every time!! The atmosphere, the food, and the staff make this place a great place to bring family and friends. read more

Oh my goodness, as good as it gets. The food and service is top notch. I am a single senior so go there alone and have never had better service. Portions are large so take some home. I love the pastas but have also had the fresh baked while you watch pizza. Yummy read more

I want to start by saying the food is good. Everyone in my party enjoyed their meal and the service was alright. (We didn't get a salad before a meal like we should have, but she took it off the bill.) I can't get past how dingy and dirty the restaurant was. This is not a cheap restaurant either with entrees being 15-20 dollars on average. The chairs had torn vinyl, the wood was all beat up. The floor was disgusting and the walls had food splatter on them. They need SERIOUS redecorating going on in this place!! It is a shame because the food is good, the ambiance does not match the food. Sadly won't choose this place again unless they take time to do some cleaning and updating of the front of the house. Little scared to see what the kitchen would look like if they let the main dinning area look like this. read more

This place has a great lunch special. I suggest the bow tie pasta with chicken and the Paulo Chicken Salad. The chicken in the pasta is melt in your mouth tender, and the "paulo chicken salad" Its got artichoke hearts and avacados in it with a creamy honey mustard dressing. They also have a YUMMY desert that is a brownie wrapped in filo dough with chocolate and some other sauce and placed in a oven until the dough is crispy and they top it off with homemade white chocolate chip vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. They also have a great sunday brunch!! The atmosphere is very nice great place for date night, or afternoon lunch with friends or co workers. read more

Okay, I thought I would give this place another try after 2 years. But things don't tend to change. While sitting at the table I was trying to remember why i never came back. After I took the first bite of food thats what I remember, the food is not any good. And when I saw the bill would not recommend this place. Every year my Wife and I go here for our anniversary dinner. Have always been very much satisfied with the service and the food. This year I had the fish special which was Mahi w/brown rice/cranberries and asparagus. My Wife had the chicken picata w/mash potatoes. We had appetizer that was just fantastic (Shrimp Phyllo) w/chipotle cream cheese (had a sweet & sour sauce). Our Waiter was very attentive when water was empty, or our wine glasses needed filled, no need to ask. We had made a comment to our waiter that we were celebrating out 32nd anniversary, and when he served us our dessert, was told the dessert was on the house. Very much satisfied, and hopefully will be able to visit more then once a year. Is very pricey, but very much worth it. :-) read more

Dinner was great, the service was good and this is one of my favourite restaurants. It the last few time I have been here I ate outside. The interior is really worn out. The booth were were in had a significant tear in it. Looking around, I am seeing additional signs of significant wear. read more

Old Italian restaurant needing updating. Smoked chicken lasagna was tasty but dry as though overheated in broiler. Carboneria sauce was good but not really true to traditional recipe. Would consider returning on Wednesday for $5 off lasagna. $5.50 for small green salad was mistake not to be repeated. We chose the tiramiso for desert. Very rich but not sure if it was made in house. read more

Fantasitc! Fabulous! I went here for lunch and had the lemon tilapia! it was one of the best things i ever put in my mouth!!! I can't say much for this place except the service is good. Has the spaghetti with what I thought was going to be Italian meatballs and got a plate of runny sauce with not much flavor and dried out sausages cut down the middle. My girlfriend got calamari and it was tough and chewy but they did take it back and substituted it free of charge. Drinks were sour tried 2 different kinds. Saleds however were great. Chef needs to taste what he is sending out. He might discover something. read more

Good food but slow service and unbelievably uncomfortable temperature in the restaurant. We were literally dripping sweat while eating. I got up to check the thermostat on the wall and it read 79degrees! I asked the waiter about the temperature inside and he said the owner knew about it ( old unit) but was holding out until the last to replace it. I can't imagine patrons continuing to pay these kind of prices for such an uncomfortable setting. The waiter was drenched in sweat too! If they fix the ac, might go back. read more

Ouch! A family gathering of eight had dinner when we were last in the Shawnee area. It was disappointing, to say the least. Nothing but good things to say about this place The Food: Very good - Steak, chicken pasta, mahi mahi are my favorites, though I've never had a bad/poorly prepared dish there. The Service: Here's an example that sums up my experiences there. I ordered a salad along with my meal (I believe it was greek) that was described as having olives in it. I asked the waiter as I was ordering whether they were calmata - since I could easily consume a few pounds of said olives for a meal and nothing else if left to my own devices. The waiter replied that yes, they were. I went on to fish for advice on my entree selection and, when I landed on a rather large main course, the waiter commented it was large enough, I may not have room for a salad. I agreed, cancelled the salad, and was floored when, along with the bread and dipping sauces that come to the table automatically, there was a bowl of calmata olives (at no charge, I discovered when the bill came, though I would have gladly paid for them). This kind of customer satisfaction philosophy is what keeps me coming back. Catering: My office also uses Paulo and Bill to do a lot of our catering. They are the company favorite, by a mile. read more

Great food, ambiance was relaxing but buzzing with people. It reminded me of an Italian cafe we went to this past summer. The price was fair and the food was great, with excellent service. The wine I had was recommended by my waitress and was fantastic for a "house" selection. I'll go back because of the great service and convenient location near the Hampton Inn. read more

We've been going here for a long time. Hadn't been in a while but the other night we went had I had their Duburgo Pasta which is made with their peppered fliet. I don't like Mushrooms so the server suggested I add peas. OMG it was amazing. I never finish my plate and I ate the whole thing. My husband also wanted a greek salad which was not on the menu and he had the chef whip one up for us and it was amazing. I will be going back more often now as I am craving the pasta. The sunday brunch is amazing too and it's always packed for brunch. Service is always outstanding. Prices are not that expensive for what you get. read more

Food and service were good. However, Hostess should know better than to seat a party of 2 next to a very loud table of 6! We couldn't hear ourselves think, and a conversation between us was out of the question. We went for the Sunday brunch on the recommendation from my sister's friend who said this place's brunch was waaaaay better than Granite City's brunch buffet. Well, it's not. I happen to really like Granite City's brunch. It's always fresh, meats are tender, and lots of selection. This place had lots of selection, however some of the food looked as if it had been sitting out for hours on end and the prime rib was so tough I thought I was eating elephant knees! No, I've never eaten elephant knees but my diverse palate can mentally extrapolate based on the visual. I digress. I'm a carnivore to my core. For me to say that the best thing I had here was the mango salsa speaks volumes. Also, some of the food wasn't labeled and it was not obvious what the dishes were, and I didn't have enough patience to play the animal, plant, or mineral guessing game. On a randomly lighter note, the fruit was fresh, it has a nice atmosphere, and our waitress was great. Regardless, I'm going to stick with Granite City's brunch. read more
