Been going here for years, best spot to eat a burger and enjoy oldies all the food is good in general never lets down.

This is the best (hole in the wall) burger/breakfast place in the area. Use to love going to Ted's growing up around the area and also Troys but as years went on Troys lost some value in their product and Ted's closed down years ago. Pauls offers a wide selection similar to a Greek place. They have burgers, sandwiches, breakfast, salads etc. You can pretty much come here and find any type of American classic under one roof. Staff is friendly and accommodating and on top of anything that needs refills on the drink station and such. Food is of good quality and priced well. This is definitely the place to stop in if your around the area and in the mood for a solid breakfast burrito or burger and fries. Good work guys! read more

The best Pastrami Sandwich!!!! ( BETTER THAN THE HAT, better than Breas Best ) that's according to the husband. (I don't like pastrami) they portions are HUGE. I work a few blocks from this place so I've gone a few times, if you like your food a certain way don't go here. I paid 15$ for a combo they messed up on and I called to fix the problem and they said no that it was basically my fault. I would recommend this place if you want to have a bad experience. Easy 5 star here. I have frequented this diner for close to 20 years. I love the gyro- they have the lamb flavored correctly, the portion is great and the sauce is A Plus. No doubt. I have been eating here since the location was on Long Beach. For the amount and quality of the food this place is unbeatable. read more

Terrible Customer service experience. I've been going to Pauls for awhile now. Decided to do a late night run to grab a salad before closing. On the first bite the cucumber in the salad tasted like chemicals. I thought okay maybe that was just a bad one. Took a bite of another same issue. Instantly had to spit it out in the trash. Called the store at 9:04 pm left a VM of what happened and asked if someone could call me back. 10:00 am the next day haven't heard anything decide to head to the store on my break. The older lady taking orders cut me off and told me to drive around. I was thinking oh good she got my voicemail. She had a confused look on her face and said she doesn't know what i'm talking about. So i tell her the story again. She instantly says WE DONT PUT CHEMICALS IN OUR FOOD. She walks away goes and finds a cucumber in the back and says "There's nothing wrong with it. What do you want me to do?" I say usually when a customer have a complaint they usually don't have to argue about the mistake that was made... I just wanted a refund or my money back. She says "How would I know about your voicemail, we are a restaurant we don't check the phones." She says if i want anything done about it i need to bring the salad back. luckily i saved the salad I just said okay.... she says "I'm not going to eat it." seriously not my concern at this point...but okay I could have let it go but i wanted to prove a point... so I went and got the salad brought it back (might have tossed it on the counter at this point because i was a little irritated) and when she saw that the entire salad was there with out the cucumbers she again says "what do you want another salad?" I said no way, I jus want my money. She held my money in her hand and was beginning to tell me why this is the policy and start to apologize but by then it was too late. She could have been a lot nicer about the entire situation. If the policy is to bring back the salad.... okay, fine great I can do that but don't argue with me and tell me the cucumber you just grabbed with the same gloves you take money from customers with is fine! that isn't the same one that was in my salad. My kids like this place but I wont be coming back. Which is unfortunate since so many small business are closing in Oceanside. This is one of the newer locations in the local chain and it's pretty damn close to the original. I've been to a few of the other locations and they've fell flat, but this one remains true to some of my favorite foods that I remember while growing up. The restaurant offers a variety of options ranging from burgers to breakfast, salads to gyros and a ton of different fried sides and shakes to choose from. My go-to are the burgers, the bacon being my favorite out of all of them. It's got that delicious dressing spewing out of it with shredded lettuce, tomato, and a generous amount of melty cheese. The bacon is cooked perfectly in my opinion to where it's not super chewy, but it's not super crispy either. This handheld always makes a mess and I'm usually wearing some of the remnants when I'm done, but I have no shame sporting a sauce stain en route to my next destination. For fried sides I fancy the fries. The zucchini is good, but it's gigantic spears of the veggie versus small pieces which takes more effort to eat. It's still delicious and it stays crispy up until you're done with your meal - a plus, because I hate soggy sides. Get the burger as a combo and it comes with your choice of fried finger food and a drink. The bacon version runs about $11 and some change when everything is said and done. I need to come back for breakfast to compare to the original location off of Magnolia and La Palma - I'm hoping their breakfast burrito is just as good! There's plenty of seating inside even during the busiest of times. For the most part parking is a cinch, but can get a little tight during peak lunch and dinner times! read more

So I had waited with baited breathe in anticipation of this place opening up. The build up was excruciating. It literally took them at least 12 monthes to remodel after taking over the previous owners. The previous restaurant had gone under at least 6 mos prior to that. So needless to say it was a sad and empty corner for ages. So with all that prep time you know that they were seriously upgrading this location. The décor is uber fancy. Its all dark hues and warm, yet on the verge of dank to me. Absolutely crazy to go into. Definitely trying to be more than a typical burger joint, but FAILing at it. When I went in and decided to get a regular bacon cheeseburger, the bacon was outstanding. The burger was average but then became a lump sitting in my tummy. I wish I hadn't eaten it afterwards due to the solid brick feeling in my midriff that I was feeling. I am sure you can understand how that is kind of a turnoff as well. They also seemed way overpriced for what they were serving and what their competitors pricing is for a lot of things. For example an order of onion rings is $4.29 and a street taco is $2.99 ea! However some things on the menu were decently priced. None the less they have a lot of different things here that are a bit surprising; everything from Mexican to fried chicken to Greek! It seems that this is their niche; it just doesn't seem to accommodate me very well at all. I would much rather be at a lot of other places than this one. So have fun if you go here... read more

One of the things I absolutely love is a good gyro sandwich. I have tried most of the places in Orange but I did not think of Paul's Place. I read some reviews and Paul's had such a good rating I had to try. Everyone was right! The portion was generous, meat seasoned perfectly, and plenty of fresh tomatoes and onions. Tzatziki sauce was one of the better tasting ones I have tried. The only thing I would say is ask for an extra sauce so it goes with the whole sandwich. Great Gyro!! read more

YES YES YES!!! Cheap, delicious, and obnoxious portion sizes!!!! I came here on a Sunday afternoon during peak lunch hours with an influx of 20-30 hangry church peeps...and Pauls Plave came out victorious. They performed like Sir Wallace would have from Braveheart, but in a restaurant facing a mob of individuals driven to insanity by their hunger. Although we did not sit all together, we were seated right away and within the same general vicinity. Two items I found especially memorable were the deep fried mushrooms and zucchinis. It's best when hot but still amazing when cooled down. From the beginning till the end, regardless of how much it cooled down, they maintained a significant crunch yet efficiently contained all the juiciness. You can consider them to be like humans with severe burns. Nice and crunchy on the outside yet comtaining all the vital fluids on the inside. All the other items were good but not extraordinary. Paul's Place is not yet open in Orange, but I've visited several different locations in Orange County and each time has been very good. Good comfort food and huge portions with reasonable prices. My only hope is that they make this place a 24-hour location (none of the Paul's that I know of are), as I tend to eat out later in the evening when I do eat at places like this. Otherwise, the regular hours will probably be sufficient. This location is about a mile from my house, and I'm really looking forward to eating here! read more

Yes, I'm the guy who loves pancakes for breakfast and yes, this is the place that needs more than a couple of months to bring pancakes to their restaurant . Did I mention it's on their menu. (NO PANCAKES)The one thing they do make for breakfast is breakfast burritos. The burrito was good. Nothing to write home about. (Average) If you want a excellent breakfast burrito and a side of Pancakes, go to Billy Boys. Yes, Paul's Place looks nicer but I'm all about the food. If you are with your family and want a nicer looking place to eat, go to Paul's Place but if you want a full menu breakfast that's taster , travel about 1/3 of a mile , south of Paul's Place and go to Billy Boys. The toast is the best thing on the plate. I saw that this place had 4 stars, it was frequently packed with cars. I figured it must be good. You have to get your own drink and they bring your food to you. My boyfriend and I ordered two chicken fried steaks, scrambled eggs and country/home fries at the counter at 12:15 p.m. [on a Sunday]. Our food was placed on our table at 12:45 p.m. Although the service was bad, we hopped the food would be good. Note: We patiently waited and did not inquire about our food; nor did they once come to our table to give us a status. They messed up one order with hash browns, with little to no apology. The chicken fried steak was dry and gamy. The home fries appeared to be boiled with little to no crispy crust - just plane sliced whit potato's. The eggs were decent. Only the toast was tasty. As we were leaving, other guest were inquiring about the status of their food... Overall, we decided this would be our first and last meal at Paul's. read more

Now open, my first visit was on 4-2-14. The interior make over looks fantastic everything is clean modern and welcoming. I ordered Pastrami Sandwich and Taquitos both were very good but not incredible The menu is very diverse with breakfast, burgers, mexican and more. I work down the street from Paul's and go there fairly regularly. I've never had anything but good service from anyone who works there. However, I'd especially like to highlight Erika. When I call ahead, she knows my order already & when I arrive she tells the kitchen staff I'm there before I even get to the register. When the restaurant is swamped, you never see any stress or annoyance or anything. She truly goes above and beyond and is a fantastic person to have representing your business. read more

Came here on the way to the Honda Center and it was better than I thought it was going to be! The diner feel is cute. Ordered the club sandwich and it was so tasty. I am very critical about club sandwiches because I order them so often. This one had great flavor, but the bread was under toasted. Next time I would order it toasted well. The food is presented nicely with garnishes which is something I wasn't expecting from this place. The restaurant is recently remodeled so everything is pretty new. The only issue that I came across when I was there was the pricing, the Denver omelette was .50 cents less on the menu than what it rang up as. The manager was able to take care of it, and they changed the price on their menu board for future. I would return if I was in the area. read more

I am so sick a people messing up my food. I asked for three carne asada burritos, two without onions. Because my wife and daughter are allergic to onions. Instead they give me two carne asada with onions and one without. Naturally I give them the two burritos wrapped the Same and i start eating my burrito. This place is absolutely a -bang-for-your-buck type of place. The portions are huge for a pretty reasonable price. The food is phenomenal. I usually get the chicken salad and it feeds me for lunch and dinner! The chicken is grilled to perfection and the salad comes with pita bread, avocado, and oh so much more! Today I decided to be adventurous and ordered the Greek Chicken plate. The chicken literally falls off the bone and is super moist and flavorful. One more thing. Curly fries. To. Die. For. We waited over an hour and 10 minutes for our order! The server never told us that there would be a 45 minute wait and each time I asked (which was at least 4 times), the woman up front told me that we were the next ticket and kept making excuses about the delay, such as online orders, etc. We constantly saw people who ordered well after us getting their food. When the server finally asked the cooks in the back if they were preparing our order, I overheard them say they didn't have our ticket. We were standing in front of the counter the entire time, and not once did they ever ask if they could help us or ask to check on our order. We only ordered a burrito, an egg breakfast, fried zucchini, and a sandwich. It was a simple order that should've taken 10 minutes or less. read more

I had to check this place out since i've been watching them build it! I love the decor in this place... they really went all out. Very nice and warm. the staff is very friendly and helpful when it comes to ordering questions. The menu is great... wide variety of options to satisfy anyone's tastebuds... including breakfast! The food is made with quality ingredients but i still wouldn't eat here on a daily b'coz they are heavy portions. the prices are reasonable, considering how much food you get with your order. I grew up in Anaheim and used to go to the Paul's place on Magnolia ALL the time! When my husband and I moved here to Orange we saw this one but didn't think anything of it. Almost 6 years later we remembered it and decided to come for a lunch date and we are soooo glad we did!!! I will say this Paul's place was so much better than the one in Anaheim! I love the seating! I had a chili cheeseburger (which I used to eat in my teens)and it was AMAZING! (Although 16 years later the burger seems to sit on my hips and not in my stomach. We also ordered onion rings and fries. I LOVE LOVE LOVE Paul's place so much I took my cousin there the other day and the manager (or owner?) was amazing and gave us great recommendations for a burger (which we got a bacon cheddar avocado burger).
