Every time I come to Pause I'm questioning why I don't come more often. Then I remember that I'm usually headed in the opposite direction and they close kinda early in the evening. Regardless of these factors, when I'm headed east I enjoy dropping in for a drink on the go. Pause has some of my top requirements nailed down: delicious coffee, oat milk on hand, and a chill vibe. Would I love to see outdoor seating? Absolutely, but it's not going to happen at this location given where they're situated in a strip mall. If I was looking for a relaxing place to camp out with a laptop (and if I actually did that kind of thing) then this would be my kind of place. The lighting is good, the music isn't too loud, and the baristas are friendly too. Pause really doesn't have competition in this part of town, but if they really wantes to knock it out of the park then I expect to see some edible items beyond a couple of cookies. The inside of the coffee shop is very roomy. I think they could redo the place to add maybe more tables and chairs? I loved that they had outlets on every table which helps when working. I got the vanilla latte, cold brew, avocado toast. I enjoyed the toast but thought $10 was very expensive for it so I prob wouldn't get it again. Overall, I enjoyed the place and customer service and would come back. Located in a shopping plaza with Fit Republic, Carl's Jr., and Sunshine Natural Foods. Seating inside and out assumably wifi was available.. a bunch of kids had their computers out. Oat and Almond Milk are $1 extra. They also had Sugar Plum pastries available. Not a lot of variety but having vegan pastries available is nice. Came here on a sunny freezing Wednesday afternoon. It was pretty busy (good sign to me) and most seating areas inside were occupied. Very friendly trendy atmosphere. Nicely lit by the natural and indoor lightings. A lot of choices to sit inside and outside. Fair warning, some tabletops next to the window were pretty high up the chest especially for a seated short person. Ordered one of the seasonal flavors-- a hot lovely latte (pistachio, rose water, cardamom). The cardamom and pistachio flavors were overwhelmed by the rose water and coffee tones from the espresso shot but as a cafe latte it was pretty good. Even for one of their less common lattes, the micro foam on top was still smooth and thick --well-made. The espresso also had a nice dark chocolate flavor to it. Solid coffee shop off madison in Fair Oaks, just passed Sunrise. The restaurant is really nice. They make their coffee good however i do wish there were some more options. While on the area and craving just a good cup of brewed coffee,, I looked up coffeehouses on Yelp and saw the good rating for Pause. I was really hoping to love it but unfortunately was a bit disappointed. The good news was that service at the counter was great. I feel a test of a good coffee is not how well a place makes specialty drinks but esther it is how good is their basic cup of joe. I was hoping for a cup of half-caff but they offer no brewed decaf. They can do a decaf Americano but wasn't what I wanted, so I got their regular brew. The taste was bitter and a bit stale like it had been in pot too long and it was not very hot (became lukewarm within minutes). I found myself doctoring it up more with cream and sweetening to make it palatable which didnt really help. I was not motivated to ask if they did refills but I doubt it. Now this was my first time here and based on the reviews perhaps this was a fluke and it is usually better. The interior of the place has an industrial mixed with woody warmth vibe which is nice, and there is outdoor seating. Most of the smaller tables inside toward front of shop have chairs that are way too low for the tables and would leave you feeling like a little kid who needs a booster seat but there are long tables in the back where seating is higher (I mention in case you plan to bring your laptop). If I return, it may just be for their avocado toast which sounded really good and pictures of it from other reviewers looked nice,, but I wasn't hungry yet. read more

It was not busy at all. The workers seem like their conversations were more important. We ordered a cold brew and a regular coffee and it tasted like it was spoiled or something was off. This was our maybe 3rd time trying this place out since it's walking distance from our house and thought this would be a great local spot to support. I stopped by to kill some time when I had my car in for maintenance nearby. I'm happy I did! I had my laptop with me so I can do some work while I wait, and this is a great place to get down to business. I had the matcha latte -- 5 stars, plenty of seating and outlets, and the wifi never had a hiccup. It has kind of a co-working space kind of ambiance so it put me in the mood to really get some shit done. You won't be alone, you'll see a lot of students studying here mixed in with people also doing work. We've been coming to this coffee shop for what, 2 years now? Having my own LaSpaziale espresso machine myself I like to think I'm a wannabe expert: this place know how to make a latte, I'll tell ya. My fiancée and I always get the same thing. Either a hot or iced oat milk latte w honey, and a hot/iced oat milk latte w a dash of cinnamon. Its consistently good every visit. I go to the others as well when convenient (Chocolate Fish & Temple), and the others are always hit or miss. Every time it's a hit elsewhere we both go "Pause is still better" and when it's a miss we go "shoulda just gone to Pause". During the pandemic they've adapted to the times and managed to stay open, and I'm glad they have, because my homemade lattes suck. It's clear that the owners of Pause designed their coffee shop for people to take a breath and linger over delicious beverages and good company. Maybe that's the inspiration behind the name of the shop, who knows, but however the name came to be, the product and layout of this shop are worth checking out. I tried Pause for the first time today and was very happy with my experience. I ordered a 16 oz latte with almond milk and it was soooo delicious! The espresso was incredibly smooth and the frothy almond milk was perfection! Their baked goods looked amazing so I tried 2: the chocolate cookie and a croissant. i learned that they get their baked goods fresh every morning from Ettore's- our favorite bakery in the Sacramento area. Stopped by this coffee shop before a long drive back home and I'm glad we picked this and not any of the chains that are on the same street. Apparently this is a newer coffee shop and it doesn't disappoint. The inside is super spacious, and floor to ceiling windows everywhere so there's good natural lighting. It's in a quieter shopping complex so parking is easy. The baristas were super helpful giving me detailed descriptions of the ten drinks I was deciding between. I first picked the ginger spice latte because I love the taste of actual ginger- but they unfortunately were out of the molasses that goes into it. They were so sweet and gave me a free drink card and helped me pick out the matcha latte. The last matcha latte I had at a different coffee shop was horrible so I was super skeptical of getting another one, but I trusted them when they said it tastes like real matcha. I got it sweetened which sometimes distorts the taste, but the drink was delicious! It had a strong taste of matcha and it wasn't all too sweet. It was my first time at this coffee shop and I was excited to try it out because I love trying out different coffee shops especially in areas I'm not from. I showed up and there was no parking, the reason most of the parking spots were gone was because they had a little drive thru shack with cones that took up most of the parking lot. I figured I would drive up and order there. There was no menu anywhere on there, the guy working in the shack was super friendly but didn't really help much. When I go to new coffee shops I look for signature drinks so I can try something that's more personalized to the shop. I looked through the menu on Yelp and didn't see anything that really stood out to me so I just ordered a basic Vanilla Latte. Well, if you're in Fair Oaks and you want an eclectic, hip, and classy new independent coffee shop, look no further than at "Pause Coffee House". Located directly on Madison Ave. (and adjacent to Fair Oaks Blvd.) in the heart of Fair Oaks, Pause Coffee House finally opened its doors to the public in late-March 2018. They were originally slated to open in early-2017 but had to get necessary permits to get their business up and running. And when the 2,600 square foot building finally came alive, it brought a cool new vibe to this part of town. With its sizable interior, this place had a gorgeous yet industrial feel to it; much like the independent coffee shops in San Francisco and Los Angeles. There was a nice use of brick walls, hanging free flowing lights, and heavy wooded decor only helped to accentuate the overall ambiance of the building. Seating is limited but there are several various sitting arrangements including upscale stools, leather chairs, and even a chaise lounge. There was however, no outside seating as this will most likely be added in the near future. The menu is simple, modern, yet effective. You will find classic coffee/espresso drinks, their signature line of drinks, and handcrafted drinks. My significant other ended up ordering their "Vanilla Latte" while I opted for their "Maple Latte". Since we wanted to dine-in, both our drinks arrived in about 5 minutes in large porcelain mugs. I loved the natural sweetness that my maple latte had; it paired up well with my butter Madeleine cookie. Overall, "Pause Coffee House" is a very nice change for a coffeeshop, especially in the suburbs of Fair Oaks. And its always refreshing that you don't have to venture out to Midtown Sacramento while still getting that Midtown feel out here. When you pair that up with a cool atmosphere, friendly and knowledgeable employees, and lightning fast Wi-Fi for your electronic devices, then you've got something good going here. This place has somehow become my go-to coffee place. It's a great place for any student to work in peace, the atmosphere is very friendly and the coffee is great. There's been a few times when I've been forgotten but the baristas are quick to give you a card for a free drink (worth it imo). The TBA sandwich is also amazing. My wife ordered an almond milk, vanilla latte. So yes, for those of you who are lactose, they have all the goods. It's clear this coffee shop was a sizable shop of some form beforehand, because it's pretty big inside. They have a lot of seating and an open floor plan. It feels very hip.
