Maria, the hostess, "greeted" us when we asked for a table for two with : "Oh, we have NO tables left, we are full for the night, you can eat outside, or if you want to eat inside, you must vacate the table by 6:00 PM. because you know people are coming back from the shore vacations, and other restaurants are closed on Monday." Maria was rude, and dismissive. She needs customer service lessons and how to be a professional and courteous hostess. I have been coming to this restaurant since it opened. You will NEVER see me or my friends again. Also, no mention in your website that you are no longer byob, and have a corking fee of ten dollars, but Ivy, our lovely, courteous waitress who apologized for Maria's behavior, informed us about this. . Therefore, because we were rushed to eat, we ordered less food, no drinks, no appetizer, no dessert or coffee. I stopped by to visit my parents and my father had picked up lunch from Pazza. They each offered me some of their meals and it looked and smelled too good to resist. My father had the shrimp fra diavlo which I've never tried anywhere before. The pasta was al dente, the sauce was spicy and they even took the tails off the shrimp. I can't find what my mom got on the menu but it was linguini with a delicious scampi sauce and scallops. I normally don't like scallops but these ones were good. Pazza looks likes it's busy when I drive by on Friday or Saturday nights and I can see why. I was surprised to see wood fired pizza, vege burgers and vegan pizza on the menu. It looks like they have options for everybody and I expect them to be delicious. Pazza is outstanding, we have eaten here in house numerous times and greatly enjoyed the food and experience. Our favorite dish has always been the deconstructed lasagna. They don't have much seating for outdoor dining but I did come here recently for outdoor dining during lunchtime on a Friday with a group of people. We ordered a bunch of different items to share including wood burning pizzas and salads. Everything was tasty and service was great. I had to use the bathroom so I did go inside and noticed that everything was very clean which is a huge plus especially during a pandemic. Ambiance is also nice & spacious. Outdoor dining is not as nice since it's basically the parking lot. Oh and they are also BYOB :) For dessert I recommend getting the pistachio gelato! read more

I went here last week for a friend's birthday. We made a reservation, and we were a group of 10. Pulling up to this place, it's pretty noticeable for it's lit up sign, and it's chic decor, with a giant painting on the back wall of the restaurant, all easily seen through nice big windows at the store front. It is BYOB. Although there is a liquor store right next door, my friend's told me it was overpriced, and there's a cheaper one right across the street. Unfortunately my options were limited that day as it was during Passover. It's not ideal to end up at an Italian place when you can't eat any bread products. Italian food is never my first choice when decided where to eat either. But anyway, this forced me to go with a salad. I opted for the crispy Thai salad with chicken, and a side of french fries. In all honesty I was expecting the salad, the portion of chicken that came with it (that costs $5 extra) and the fries to be small. I was wrong. The portions were a decent size and everything was delicious. The salad was fresh, and I appreciated that it wasn't lathered in dressing. The portion of chicken was generous and really added to it. The fries were cooked just right too, nice and crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, and not burn-your-mouth hot, but still hot enough, when they came out. The ambiance of the place is nice. It has a high ceiling and even when it's almost full, it doesn't get too loud. The staff was friendly, and attentive. Parking was no issue either, we all found spaces pretty much right in front. The Before tax, my salad with chicken, and the fries cost $24, which feels a little bit high, but the portion sizes were good so it's not bad. I'd probably try this place out again to see how their pizza is. Tl;dr: Chic, Italian spot with delicious salads and french fries, chic decor, friendly staff, easy parking, a little bit pricey, but most importantly, it's BYOB. read more

So, we get invited to Pazza by a couple we know for quite a while...I know they know good food, but then I read the reviews on Yelp and I say either the place was good at one time and is no longer or the reviews are off the mark. So, let me say this...the bad reviews here are WAY OFF THE MARK. This place was outstanding. Ordered a few appetizers, braised meatballs (come on a bed of polenta with a scoop of ricotta on top); fried calamari and arugula, goat cheese & beet salad...all excellent. Got a couple pizzas (mushroom and prosciutto/fig) for entree and two of us ordered the same pork chop dish - all terrific. Maybe even better is the service...I literally leaned back in my chair to stretch at one point and one of the servers (not ours) ran from behind the bar to see if I needed something. And as we're leaving we are thanked by at least 4 of the staff. Looking forward to going back again !!! read more

Great place was pleasantly surprised. Fairly large too but casual and easy to have a great meal here. Wood burning pizza oven and house made made dough - very good quality. Pizza toppings a bit unusual taking off on the Italian standards. For the first visit tho keep it simple to pizza with fresh Mutz, prosciutto amd arugula. Nice, and generous size too ample for two especially with apps. Octopus was fanatic - fresh and grilled over a nicely made Greek salad where the cucumber was sliced razor thin as was the red onion. Saw numerous pastas and main courses among our dining neighbors and everything passed my fussy eye -- pastas not flopped over and presented with care, steak and chicken thjngs nicely prepared it seems and on this crowded night everyone seemed to enjoy. So trip two soon to check out the other things and so close by making it easy. Desserts I won't comment on. Let's say, we'll not commentable. Certainly no worse than many other Italians in this part of northern NJ (aka Gavone City) and maybe a bit better but - no. Espresso expertly made and delcious. Have to shout out to the staff here. So professional and helpful but friendly fitting of a casual place. But they have lots of them and they pay attention to many details. For a busy fair sized casual place this is saying something. Ambience is super cute! It was really busy on the Thursday night we went so it was pretty loud. I might try to pick more of an off hour to return. Service was ok. On to the food. For appetizers we had the fried meatballs and calamari. The meatballs needed a sauce to go with them. They were kind of dry. The calamari was good. For dinner I had the fish and chips special which wasn't great. My one friend had the hanger steak. I tried a bite and thought it was tough but she liked it. My other friend had the cavatelli and sausage. Now that was very good. Would definitely get this myself in the future. For dessert we had the lava cake with vanilla gelato and toasted almond gelato. The gelatos were delicious. Especially the toasted almond. It's a must have here. Lava cake was good as well. Happy to return and the other things. Great place for pizzas and pastas. I wish I lived closer. Yelp takes reservations so definitely make one for a Sat night. If not, I heard their bar next door is open so that's a cool option. They use an authentic wood fired oven. Toppings are good. Crust is good too. Better at Razza but for Bergen this is the best. Unfortunately, I am sad to say that we were disappointed with our experience. We had made reservations for an early 5pm dinner for 6. It seemed simple enough once we were seated. We were given menus and asked if we wanted a drink. Ordering a bottle of wine and glasses. Both delivered and then we were completely ignored for 45 minutes. We finally had to ask for service from a bus person. After that, someone came to our table and told us the specials and then never came back. Again, we had to ask for help from a busser. Eventually a man came and took our order, but we had still not gotten the cocktail ordered by the first "server". I could go on, but it continued to be disconnected for the first hour and a half. We did eventually get an apology from our designated server who said our table has a tendency to be ignored and coverage confused (...THEN ADDRESS THE CONSISTENT PROBLEM!). She was kind, but our meal experience was completely tainted by then. We did eventually get our appetizers and dinner. We passed on desserts because we were completely disenchanted by then. The bill provided and it was in excess of $300 with no courtesies extended. In addition, our server never came to see how we were doing during our meal either after her profuse apology of ignorance. She had no problem presenting the bill (the second time we saw her) although. So, great food? Not completely. The chicken cutlets used for various items were dry. The pizza crust was tough to chew. Some of the dishes were good, but just not consistent. The only thing was the portions were quite large, so I guess some people look for that, but I'd rather have quality. Pazza has a great reputation, but that night, it was no better than a mediocre restaurant with chandeliers. read more

The ambiance of this restaurant is really nice. I highly recommend outdoor seating especially on a nice day. We started with the calamari and it was incredible. It was nicely seasoned and crispy. They serve a lot of calamari. 3-4 people can eat more than enough. I had "the Queen" pizza which was smaller than I expected. It was good but I probably would try another pizza next time. I went to Pazza for a great Italian dinner with a friend I hadn't seen in a long time. What a great restaurant this is. We started with the grilled octopus. The octopus is wood grilled and is as tender as you can get. There is no chewiness. It has a nice wood grilled taste and is not fishy. My friend never had octopus and was surprised how good it was. We then had the Jersey Devil pizza and the fig pizza. The Jersey Devil is a spicy pizza with Fresh mozzarella, tomato sauce, fresh ricotta, calabrian chilies, soppressata, hot honey. This is one of favorite items and I get it every time. It is very spicy and has a sweet finish from the hot honey. The soppressata adds some meatiness to the spicy nature of the pizza. The Fig has Prosciutto, arugula, balsamic glaze. This is a sweet pizza with some bitterness from the arugula. This is also a favorite. This restaurant is BYOB.
