We went for taco tuesday happy hour, we sat in the garden, super cute, we had 3 different sets of tacos and they were delicious. The bar tender was a little gem and I think the lady that went around being super friendly is maybe one of the owners/ manager, she noticed we were new faces and came over to chat with us. Dive Bar......DIVE BAR!!! I have some pictures to post along with this review but most of them contain my drunk friend that I don't want to embarrass. Let's start by stating the pros.....(1) cheap (2) close to home (3) no dress code other than shirt and shoes, which I don't actually see posted so maybe this is negotiable (4) and a cool patio in the back. Cons......(1) cash only (2) no food. So everyone.....this is a dive bar! Stuff is dirty, things don't match, food choices consist of bags of chips, drinks are cheap ($2.50 Miller High Life in a can), music is from whoever hijacks the jukebox, people are homeless (The guy in the back... Not confirmed but pretty sure). This is not a place where you come to see or be seen. You come here to get drunk with your girlfriend and play pool. This is a place to wash away the sorrows of a breakup. This is a place to get to know people from the neighborhood. It's not fancy, but none of us really are. I come here to drink beer and hang with friends... And you should too! read more

Great little hangout bar with a huge beer menu that is always rotating! They have your classics, but also some craft beer gems. Service is always friendly, the outdoor patio is super spacious, and they even have a pool table. They're open later than other places nearby. Last time I went I saw that they started offering pizzas, but I've yet to try (will update when I do!) PBS has become a new favorite of mine. read more

First time walking in here great service and definitely a hidden gen in lbc. They don't charge to your cc and that's always cool. The beer selection on tap is good variety they feature kona brewery. Def stop in and check it out the outside looks small but once u walk in place is huge w a tiki patio area and indoor bar with 2 pool tables. 5 star spot for sure ty for the great service and relaxing atmosphere. Good cheap beer and cider on tap. No hard booze. Has outdoor patio where they were serving free chili dogs (but didn't try one). Bartender was cool older lady has been working here for over 15 years. Remembers the good old days. Bunch of local regulars. Interesting neighborhood - but I don't think i would want to be out here after dark. read more

Awesome casual neighborhood spot to meet and drink. The owners are really welcoming and friendly. They have a nice selection of tap beers. I prefer wine... the house Pinot Noir did not disappoint. The newly renovated interior complete with pool table, kept the dive vibes going. I enjoyed the atmosphere on the large, yet cozy feeling patio. Perfect place to meet up with friends. Tried out this local pub and it is absolutely awesome. Fantastic selection of beers, friendly and knowledgeable staff, comfortable and welcoming atmosphere with indoor and outdoor seating. Ordered a burger and it was amazing. Finally found a place to get a great tasting burger. A must visit establishment!! read more

It's always a great time at PBS pub! Kristine makes you feel right at home. The peanuts are an absolute MUST! Make sure to ask for them. They're roasted with garlic. I think about them when I'm not here. Sometimes they have someone working the grill out back. I had the chicken wings. They were so good that I had to go tell the cook myself. Best bar in Long Beach: cheap (CHEAP) beer, pool tables, regulars and an awesome patio.

I am breaking my radio silence for this amazing, incredible, rundown, shack of a bar. You know THOSE days (think more 'those' in italics). The kind of days where say...you have to call 911 for someone who passed out at work and was non responsive for a couple minutes. Yeah. It was a shitastic day. I mentioned as we were closing up, to no one in particular, that today needed to end with either beer or chocolate. My guardian angel, otherwise known as my boss, heard me. We're both thankful he did. I'm not a local. Not even close. Before I got a job in Signal Hill I would not have been able to tell you it existed, much less where it was on a map. Same boat for my boss. Still, we drove with faith in our hearts and beer on our mind. We drove for what seemed like forever (about four minutes) when we finally saw a bar. Closed. Just before we gave up hope we looked across the street and both were struck by the sheer awe of PBS. It was just....just....perfect. Wooden. Old. Next to a Chinese takeout window. Could you ask for more? I can't add much to what other said. It is the closest bar to Cheers (in feeling, not decor) that I have ever entered. It was the bartender's birthday (also, other than myself the only chick in the place). She was 'happy' and everyone was really nice. My boss helped her bring in a keg and one of the locals bought us both beers. It's just one of those kinds of places. When we were leaving, the boss and I commented to each other that it's the perfect dive bar. A bar we both thought extinct because of the 'hipsters in dive bars' trend. Nay, the spirit of the dive bar is healthy and alive in this gem in the south bay. read more

As some of you know, I love dive bars!! This is ultimate. It's small , strange, old school and fun. Only beer and wine here, but it has character and silliness. Great for after work and weekends. 10 taps of cold beer, you have a choice of pitchers, pints or my favorite "mason" jars. Nice little hidden back patio. Bathrooms clean and equipped. If your hungry they sell lays potato chips and Doritos. You've been there when your buzzing and you got to have a bag of cool ranch!!! Was here a couple of days ago. Came and hung out with my friends and played pool . Had great conversation with great people . Chill atmosphere, jukebox is Live. Pool tables, and darts. Customary bar with awesome people in charge of it. Great price for brew any day of the week. Try it for yourself. read more

This place could use an over haul, a renovation... I mean when I go to use the bathroom, and the toilet seat has words CARVED into it, you're not going to get the best rating. Like, for crying out loud- get a new toilet! This is definitely a DIVE bar. Cash only. Bartender wasn't the friendliest... they're pretty blunt with their signs "order every half hour" "minimum order $3" the plus side is that they have a patio, but the stools are wobbly. When I used to drink in there when I worked in the oil fields ( a co-worker named Half bubble lived in the motel near there) there was a dog that was a part owner of the bar and if he jumped up on the stool next to you he would buy you a beer. Not fancy. Good enough for a beer and sports games since it's walkable from my house. It has the potential to be a cool dive bar with about $50,000 worth of renovation work. Best things about it is the covered outdoor back area. The crowd is sketchy at best. Cash only. Filthy bathroom. Beer and wine only, NO LIQUOR and no food (except for bag chips and the taco lady on some nights). read more

This is a DIVE BAR. No renovations needed. Maybe an extra bathroom but for the most part who cares about the carvings on the seat. Young folks do dumb shit. It's a clean bathroom. Always has toiletries. You don't sit on the actual seat so it shouldn't matter. Patio is spacies with you choice of high seating or regular patio chairs all equipped with tables. The manager is nice , she's friendly , socializes with consumers and treats her staff well. Unlike most bars with pool tables theses days - you can rent the pool table for an hour for $5. Great bar. Cheap beer. Not a full bar. Just beer and wine. Great variety on tap. The people aren't rough they're familiar and it's LONG BEACH TALK. You want a real Long Beach local experience this is a great bar to relax and meet people who probably have more in common with you than you think great job. read more

And Free pool on Tuesday and Wednesdays - Schooner of beer cost $4.50 to $5 In the back is a large yard to chill with friends and a Taco guy is cooking food for $1 a taco. My friends are regulars here. This place has a pretty mixed and unique crowd. The bar is old as shit and mostly wooden. You can drink a schooner and eat peanuts. Good place to watch the game or play pool. I prefer to get drunk here in the middle of the day. read more

This place is a one of a kind dive, got the juke box and pool tables and a nice yard out back if you want to have a cigarette. The bartenders are all cool and the locals are crazy enough to make you feel like you are sane but they are nice folks. A pitcher here is still $6, $5 on happy hour. It seems like you get some different crowds here on different days & nights but it is always interesting. You can talk to a redneck, a gangster, a queer, or an old asian guy and it's all cool. Can't think of any other place like this. Also, occasionally around Super Bowl or Holidays or things like that they always respect the patrons and bring in a bunch of food. My husband and I usually love pubs and dive bars but this place was way over priced for beer that was old and had gone bad. We ended up paying $15 before tip for a Stella and a lagunitas on tap, both of which tasted stale, were flat and the taps clearly hadn't been changed for a very long time. We won't be coming back. read more

This here is a small shack of a pub with a pool table, rustic decor, an outdoor seating area in the back catering to the nicotine addict, shredded wood on the floor, and a dead bighorn hanging on the wall. It's a classic dive that's kept clean. The lady behind the bar is as nice as they come. There are historic photos of Long Beach stapled above the bar. The regulars include women who'll kick your ass at pool. The digital juke box has a good blend of 70's and 80's rock (including Triumph), among some other stuff that never gets played. They serve 22 oz beers and 32 oz schooners that they'll fill with the typical domestic swill or Stella, Guinness, Sam Adams, and a couple others that escape me. Bottom line, if drunken locals with a likely history of meth addiction make you nervous, I wouldn't recommend this place. If you like dive bars and are socially versatile/adventurous, you'll probably love it. read more

Great dive bar ! A blast from the past. People are very friendly. When Patty is tending the bar , it is especially fun. She can carry on three conversations while pouring ice cold beer and not miss a beat. The scooners are actually 32 oz. and a good work out. Can't beat the prices here. Wow! Doesn't sound much like the old place has changed since I tended bar there in the early 1980's. At that time, PBS stood for Pat, Beth & Skipper. The locals were awesome and really watched out for the bartender. There was: Doug the mailman, Richard the biker, Art, the story teller, Red (Richards ex), Tom and so many other colorful characters. My son still remembers Art calling him at night and telling him stories over the phone. The regulars were a mixture of hard working people, retired people and problem children, but in the end, we were all family! read more
