Every Toyota I looked at would have passed Oregon's standards without an issue. They let me keep looking until I found one that I knew would pass in Hawaiʻi, and this took days. They didn't complain once. In fact, they made the whole process enjoyable by joking around and keeping things light. Here are the inspection points I had to meet for Hawaiʻi: No sharp edges or cosmetic damage that could fail safety. No flaking rust on frame joints -- a tough requirement in rainy Oregon, where even well‑maintained 15‑year‑old vehicles show some surface rust. When I was using my inspection snake camera, they came out and offered their lift to make the job easier. That turned a 30‑minute job into 10.
